USB to RS232 (adapter OR or not)

Hello:

I have to use a USB-RS232 adapter to connect my laptop to a device for the control.
The control will be through LabView library VISA.

However, I found that the price for the USB-RS232 adapter varies a lot.
NOR has one (http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/12844), more than 100 books, whilte there are many other USB-RS232 adapter costs only 10-30 pounds in other locations.

What I wonder if do USB-RS232 adapter or this price?
Is there a compatibility issue (single adapter of NOR is compatibile to LabView?) or other conduct issues I should be aware of?

I just want to understand the difference between adapter OR other less expensive adapter before making the purchase (but I will not avoid the issue of compatibility)

Thank you very much
Best regards, Jhensi

Jhensi,

There are many companies making USB-RS232 adapters that work with LabVIEW using NI-VISA.  The problem is that some cards drivers are not fully compliant with the RS232 specification.

Another thing to consider is the isolation.  If you are in an industrial environment you wish to an isolated USB-serial adapter.  Personally, I use adapters of NOR and electronics of B and B.  If you search the forums you will find other manufacturers mentioned as well.

Original title: windows 7 and bios does not see the hard drive. but when I connect the hard drive to the USB with an adapter, I see directories and files... Ive a hp Pavilion, what to do?

Check the BIOS for hard drive setting.

Make sure that you do not connect the drive to a SATA/RAID port.

Old IDE drives - check the jumper on the drive (use "Cable Select" as a starting point), the BIOS must also be set in legacy/compatibility/IDE mode. Note: If you currently use the AHCI mode, then switch to IDE mode may cause Windows to boot.

  • Use of the USB to Ethernet adapter to find cRIO Systems

    Hi all

I'm trying to connect to one OR cRIO-9066 to my laptop using USB-to-Ethernet adapter.  But I have a problem with it; Find VI systems shows no results unlike the direct connection via the ethernet port on the laptop.  I wish that the connection of the USB-to-Ethernet adapter to support this feature as well.  I would like to know if somebody did, and I hope a solution to this.

Here's my setup. I bought the adapter USB-to-Ethernet of RadioShack. I connect the adapter to a USB port on my laptop. The adapter is the female Ethernet port on the other end. I directly connect cRIO and the adapter using a crossover ethernet cable. What is of note is that ethernet connection works.  I can specify the IP address of the cRIO then I can communicate with crio in the same configuration. However, finding systems VI cannot find any system.  LabVIEW 2015, is what I use.

Instead of using the adapter, if I use a direct connection via the ethernet port on the laptop, find systems VI works fine.

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

After all, my conclusion to this problem has been the model of Ethernet USB card I was using was not good.

Gigaware USB to adapter Ethernet (from Radio Shack) was working not with find systems VI on my environment even though it is still able to connect to CRIO if I know the IP address. I even had the other, but the result was the same.  The solution for me was to use another model of the BADGE, which is NS-PU98505. It is cheaper, but has worked with find systems VI.

I don't know what's behind the different behaviour, but the issue is resolved on my end for now.

Thank you all for all the tips and ideas. Congratulations to all!

  • SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash drive does not work in Win7 / 64 x

Well, it seems that after more than a week of messing around with this for, and finally give up and seek help, I could solve a few hours after doing so. After a lot of searching on Google, one of the things I had seen repeatedly was that the drive letters change can solve the problem. When I first had the problem, I did, and it did not fix the problem. However, somewhere between initially and after patching doing so in my original post, as well as several other elements are not, looks like my original problem has been resolved, and that the drive letters change was actually the origin of the residual problem with the same symptoms. The USB key now works in my USB 2.0 ports original or USB 3.0 adapter card TL; DR: changing the drive letter for the drive solved the problem, but only after a myriad of other changes. Thanks for the comments.

  • HP Bluetooth USB 2.0 adapter bt500

I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 to windows 8. When you use Windows 7, I plugged my bt500 HP Bluetooth USB 2.0 adapter connected to my HP printer to establish a bluetooth connection and it printed fine. Since the upgrade to Windows 8, I can not make a bluetooth connection to my printer through my PH Bluetooth USB 2.0 bt500 fit because when I try to download the driver for the card it says the adapter is not compatible with Windows 8. Does anyone have a solution to make a Bluetooth with HP printers using a bluetooth adapter that is connected to the printer or rather there at - there a bluetooth adapter compatible Windows 8 that I can use instead of my HP Bluetooth USB 2.0 Adaper bt500 bluetooth printing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think that Bluetooth is longer supported on this printer. The drivers are drivers installed auto windows, since it is a legacy printer and the original drivers will stop working in the environment of WIn8. For this reason there are limits to what your printer is capable of doing, and unfortunately in Bluetooth compatibility is one of the things that has been lost in the transition.

Generally, you will be limited to USB connectivity with this type of configuration.

  • Peripheral PnP USB - muted, is unplug sound when not touched, "device not recognized" or a malfunction, etc...

Here is an exhaustive list I hope what happens (it's the Microsoft forums, so I think you guys are going to read a lot of information):

    • The sound on my PnP USB audio device cancels randomly without any reason. It is not to be touched at all, and often happens when I'm even not listen to all the sounds.
    • Before he died, it emits a blur in the helmet noise as it is to be disconnected or the cord is cut or something. I have to unplug it and plug it back several times to make it work.
    • It has been for several months, working properly, this month started anything, for about a week.
    • I can't use my headset because it is loose. I had the USB key to solve this problem, because it's too expensive get taking fixed. I did not buy the device at first hand, I got it from a family member who took my laptop in for repair and the guy he recommended and we sold two of these jacks.
    • When it goes off during a game, I can't sound to return. Sometimes I can fix it on a game (as Portal 2, for example) by going to options and change the type of sound (or any) what's called it headphones to speakers, then back to the helmet. However, the game freezes often when the sound goes off and I have to remove the usb key, and in this case the game should also be repeated. In addition, everything has sound options like that.
    • This happens randomly, but it tends to happen every five minutes or every few seconds, and coincidentally it almost always happens during a loading on a video game screen.
    • It is not always give me a warning sound, especially on the games. He's just quiet.
    • Device Manager does not display a point of exclamation or question marks next to any audio device and the key USB pnp is indicated correctly. In the options of the sound in the Control Panel, there is of the sound bars next to the USB key that indicates that his is read, but it is not in playback mode. The USB pnp is listed as default device, so don't tell me to do. The microphones are turned off as well.
    • It does the same thing in all my usb ports.
    • The driver is up-to-date and meant for Windows 7.
    • I do not install the Windows updates. Updates are bad.
    • Box for what he calls a "USB stereo Audio Adapter external" StarTech.com, or "ICUSBAUDIO". It came with a disc that I used to install the driver, and I went on their website to get one for Windows 7 specifically and installed.
    • I use a computer laptop 64 bit Windows 7. In Device Manager, there are three things listed under sound: Realtek High Definition Audio Intel (r) display Audio and USB PnP Sound Device. None of the USB devices have exclamation points.
    • For the first time today, when the usb unplug sound, my computer tells me "Device not recognized" and said it could have malfunctioned. When I clicked on it for more information, he said that he could not tell me what the usb was even because it was not plugged in, which was not true. I also had a window appears which has tried to install the device driver (already installed) and then was told that the unit had been disconnected before he could do (not true). It just happened, for the second time today a few seconds ago.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit on a Dell Studio 140g running a NETGEAR WG111v2 54Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 adapt and loses the connection permanently

I have a problem with this program-it very often loses the connection, so with any live video as a conference, he fall causing problems with, naturally, the frustration on both sides. The router is in another room may be just 25 feet away maximum which the signal passes through 1 wall and offered "free of charge to AT & T TV and Internet clients" so a technician said as saying "it's just a basic router", but the signal goes further to a TV, another 20-foot more away and had no problem connecting unless it is with the AT & T network itself. Even if he reconnects automatically most of the time, but sometimes I have to manually reconnect which can take of time also a lot of time. I had another SATA driver and separate, which was working fine then one day abruptly stopped and now that the driver to reconnect and I was forced to use the old and original driver and I'm back with the same problems. I can't find where it is that I found this other, independent driver, even with a search, and now I have no idea how to solve. I tried all suggestions with Microsoft Fix It without modification done or as it says "no changes have been made, your driver is up to date" and I have tried these suggestions and now I'm here. I also went to CNET to search for a driver, but not luck to everything I've read about the drivers there. Finally, I intend to go with another program called Easy Wifi Radar and I don't know what would be better to use Wifi adapter and since I have a few target (store) [s http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=wifi+adapter & category = 9975894% 7CAll % 7Cmatchallpartial % 7Celectronics & lnk = snav_sbox_wifi + adapters] I guess I'll take the adapter on their part and their site search , I see a lot to choose gift cards, but who would work better with my system and this program of "Easy_WIFI_Radar"? Any suggestions? Maybe a better deal with another source of in-store/online Wifi adapter?

    Hi David,

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have connected the external NETGEAR WG111v2 USB adapter to work with wireless internet and the connection is intermittent.

Maybe it's because the wireless USB card driver and it is perhaps because of the hardware (USB wireless card) itself.

Try the suggestions below and see if it helps.

    Method 1:

You can try to download the latest Firmware utility from Netgear support site and check if it helps.

Check out the link below to download the latest firmware for NETGEAR WG111v2.

    http://Downloadcenter.NETGEAR.com/en/product/wg111v2#searchresults

    Method 2:

Dell Studio Hybrid D140G may come with the card wireless in the generation in it, you can try to disconnect the external USB NETGEAR WG111v2 adapter and try to connect to the network card wireless wireless generation.

To connect to the wireless network, please visit the link below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows/view-connect-available-wireless-networks#1TC=Windows-7

    Method 3:

Try disabling your antivirus software that may block the incoming connection wireless.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope this information helps, please reply with the status of the issue for further assistance.

  • How to: get USB drivers Serial Adapter for Windows7

Please where can I get USB drivers Serial Adapter for Windows7.

I was using this adapter under Windows XP normally. But it does not work with Windows7, even if I installed the software on the CD that came with the adapter.

    Kind regards!

It is the responsibility of the manufacturer/peripherals to create drivers for their products for operating systems, the manufacturer wants their products to work with. Therefore, it is suggested that you contact the support site of the device manufacturer to obtain the latest drivers for Windows 7, if they are available.

    Kind regards

  • How to remove a desk Goflex usb 3.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 Standard Server adapter and then plug another server save desk Goflex usb 3.0 adapter?

I am an intern for a company and they asked me to pass their already plugged into the adapter of desk Goflex usb 3.0 backwards Server Office Goflex USB 3.0 adapter. They mentioned that I unplug before the one that is already attached to the Windows 2008 R2 Standard Server, I want to stop the automatic updates and cut it (I don't know if they mean turn off Office Goflex usb 3.0, a server adapter or updates).

Then plug back up Server Office Goflex usb 3.0 adapter. When it is plugged in that they said to go back to the top.

My main question is how to do it safely with ruin them anything? My second question is what are the steps to remove the device already plugged into the computer? My third question is, what are the steps to configure the server to the top device once I plug?

They have done this before, I can tell because there are 2 dates on a note of sticky notes on the backup server. I know that the Goflex desktop adapter is not really a matter of Microsoft but I tried to contact Seagate and they told me to contact Microsoft.

    Thank you!

  • Can't get USB - IEEE1284 (LPT) adapter/printer installed in Windows 8

I recently bought a PC in Windows 8.  I have a printer (HP DesignJet 220) with the single port LPT.  I found and installed the printer driver 64 bits for this printer successfully and the printing device (DesignJet 220) shows up in my list of printers.   (Note that I have a HP 1055 all-in-One connected by USB on this machine and it works fine.)

I bought and installed a USB adapter IEEE 1284 cable and Windows 8 recognizes the adapter (automatically, without having to load a driver).  Problem - when I put the printer port in the window of the printer device to the port of virtual printing USB003, all the instructions I've read - nothing happens.  I tried all USB ports and each port LPT in the list.  Sometimes I print a test page and get an error that the printer's paper (it is not), and sometimes the printer test page is going nowhere - a few stays in the print queue.   The function 'Enable bidirectional Support' is grayed out so I can't activate it (it appears as not controlled).

The IEEE-1284 device says no printer.  When I try to change the printer driver in the IEEE-1284 device window, he said simply that the driver is up-to-date for the attached device (that he believes is 'none').  The printer is turned on and ready to print.   At any time the printer indicates that it has received all the data (on this model there is a flashing on the control panel when the data is transmitted).

If I unplug the USB (on the adapter cable) to the computer, it is immediately recognized in the device window and the IEEE-1284 device is removed in the devices window.  If I leave the USB plug in and unplug the Centronics connector at the printer, nothing happens.

How to make the printing device to connect to the USB port of the virtual printer?  On the other hand, is the problem in the IEEE-1284 device and how to recognize the printer?

The problem is not the driver.  The problem is the interface.  Eight doesn't seem to work with most LPT drivers.  I tried two so far.  In addition, these interfaces are so old that most manufacturers ceased to provide drivers after Vista.  I tried an interface card (no luck) then a converter USB to LPT.  Eight did not recognize either.  I think the more specific question is if windows 8 supports parallel interfaces.

  • HP laserjet 1200 using windows7, wired to the printer with a USB to parallel adapter

HP laserjet 1200 using windows7. My computer has USB ports, but no parallel port, if the computer is connected to the printer with a USB to parallel adapter. Sometimes works very well, sometimes States printer system as ready, but do not print. Reboot hardware and upon restarting, I got a page to print. Next attempt to print updates the document in cue, but is right there - no error message. Finally, after several reboots, I managed to do print (have no idea how), but now I had to print 20 pages one page at a time. It will print no more than one page, even if I have to print the 20. Next time I start the computer I don't know if the printer will print. Do you need to use the same USB port each time, or are USB to parallel unreliable maps?

    Hey renradd!

Unfortunately, in addition to the adapters USB can be unreliable. Only a new printer, I don't know what it will provide you with a fix for this problem. You can try a different card if you have one, but if it still does not work, I would look for in a printer capable of supporting your computer.

    I hope this helps!

I tried with this solution HP Laserjet P1102w by USB "the disk you inserted is not readable by this computer ' Ec Capitan osx's option"repair disk permissions ".

I can't say if it will work, and it may even be harmful, possibly to the point of making your mac unbootable, so be careful - all the least have a clone of your system disk. If you start using the internet (Command-Option-R) recovery mode, and if your mac is a model that existed prior to El Capitan, it could be that the disk utility you get in this collection is the old version, including the order of repair permissions.
