USB to SATA bridge - unrecognized disc

I have connected my old drive of 200 GB SATA Maxtor DiamondMax 10 USB 2.0 to SATA bridge as an external drive on my laptop. Windows7 acknowledge it in the hardware Manager but I have, they don't see it in Windows Explorer and I can't read data of the or format. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Go to disk management and assign a drive letter to the drive.

You will have to perhaps to initialize and format. If you do, you will lose all data on the disk.

  • DV7 - 7333cl: how to extract usable data from a bad drive using 22 pins adapter usb to SATA on the new HD

    Greetings HP Forum,

Recently, I replaced a bad hard drive on my laptop. I need now step by step procedure to extract usable data from the wrong drive using 22 pins adapter usb to SATA on the new HD.

NOTE: I can't not all data that especially if some of the software downloaded on the replaced disk can be altered. Should I first download Internet Antivirus to protect my new hard drive? I'm not an expert, or even close to this when you work on the back of the laptop, so I'll have to step by step how to download and to partition the data recoverable and software, etc..

Thanks in advance for your help... I greatly appreciate it!

    See you soon!

    Wes

It is not complex. Attach the drive to the adapter and connect it to any other computer with good antivirus and antispyware installed. I use Malwarebytes and Avast. When you connect the adapter with the drive connected to the usb port, the drive will appear and it will be assigned a letter maybe E:\ or F:\ or something else. Immediately, he analyzes with the antivirus and anti-spyware. Quarantine or delete any virus or malware it finds. Then, it's just a matter of navigate the disk and copy and paste the contents of the host computer in a directory for this purpose. Obviously, you can copy from documents word, photos, music files, but you cannot copy the applications like Microsoft Word, iTunes. Photoshop.  You may need to take ownership of the files on the old hard drive, but Windows will guide you through this. Don't know what else I can answer.

  • Starting USB/change SATA mode. Spectrum of HP Touchsmart XT

I can't seem to find much information about the Touchsmart HP spectrum XT, so I came here with a few questions.
How to boot from a USB? How can I change my SATA to AHCI mode?

    You are the very welcome.

There is no legacy mode option?  There must be.  The legacy mode option must be enabled in order to boot from another device.

Unfortunately, there is no way to change the BIOS setting.

I don't understand why HP does not provide these options on their notebooks to consumer, but for some reason any, they have not for years.

The pilot of the RST is supposed to support TRIM SSD's in RAID mode, if it worries you.

  • HARD StorE alu2 unrecognized disc

    Hello

Since a few days, my laptop does not recognize (or very rarely) my storE alu2 purchased less than 2 years ago. When I plug it the HARD drive for the most part turns on normally but it does not appear in 'My computer', or 'Device manager' screens. The few times that it is recognized, it disappears after a few seconds/minutes (randomly).

Before it worked properly and didn't fall down or anything that could damage it.

Can someone help me solve this problem? My OS is Vista.

I really need to get some files and I have no idea what to do.

    Thanks in advance.

PS: Sorry for my broken English.

    Hello

You have the external 2.5 HARD drive or 3.5?
Have you tried using different USB ports?

Unfortunately in this case there is not a lot of options.

  • Cannot access BIOS when OS disk encrypted w / Bitlocker, starting on the USB key is not unlock disc

    Hello

I enabled Bitlocker on my Acer Aspire 5315. The system partition is encrypted and the data partition. My motherboard doesn't have a TPM chip, so I opted for the unlock with a USB key.

When I start the PC or wake them from their hibernation, the splashboot (with the logo of Acer) BIOS screen does not display the information below on how to access the BIOS (press F2) or the boot menu (F12). And therefore I can't access those as I used to.

BitLocker does not account for the USB key, then asks for the password to unlock the HARD drive. Then Windows starts very well.

However, restart (by a Windows or after you have entered the wrong password Bitlocker too many times), the BIOS splash screen is normal (with how access BIOS and boot menu), I can access BIOS by pressing F2 AND succesfully Bitlocker unlocks the HARD drive with the USB flash drive without having to ask for the password.

So, my question is how Bitlocker unlock the HARD disk automatically via the USB when the PC starts?

    Thank you for reading.

Note: I posted this question on http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprosecurity/threads they suggested that I ask the Acer support.

Thank you also get answers in the TechNet forums.  I'm sorry that you were unable to get a more complete answer it.

We suggest that you uninstall BitLocker and decrypt the drive to determine if this restores your ability to access the BIOS.

  • Copy on a DVD-r - unrecognized disc

I have files ready to copy onto a DVD, but the drive is not recognized.  It is complete or not accessible in writing and sometimes it does not acknowlidge there is a disc in the tray

Except for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005...
Windows XP doesn't natively burn DVDs... you need third party software.

The following freeware might be worth a try:

Restore point before installing software or updates)

  • Connection USB BB to DM unrecognized blackBerry Smartphones

Recently reinstalled DM software on my Vista for my Curve 8310. In the past, when I connected via USB that recognized computer BB and the SM open automatically, but now instead, Windows opens a list of the optional downloading only programs. Once I open the DM it will sync. How can I recognize the connection to what it is and not just a USB cable from the computer. I tried to go to the folder Sound/Device, BB uninstalling and reinstalling, but that is not the case. Help!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

It seems that the installation does not go perfectly. I would recommend a clean uninstall

  • Bridge / unrecognized file Extensions

    Hello

I'm on a Windows 7 Pro machine and until a week ago was running applications CC 2013 updated as body 7.2.2 Ps, AI, etc... Who ran smooth as butter.

After the update of the CC desktop app and installing versions of PS 2014, HAVE, PR, AE, etc (previous versions CC 2013 have been installed yet at this point), I noticed that the file associations have been broken.

In addition, when I'm in PS 2014 and go to file > Browse in Bridge - instead of launching the bridge, it launches the application of Office CC and guests me with "Are you sure you want to install this version of the bridge"? The first time, it prompted me to do so I of course did so all my apps are up to date. However, whenever I try to open the bridge to the PS it does the same thing.

    Any idea what's going on?

From what I've been reading on various forums, there are many problems with the versions of the apps 2014. Very frustrating. Big mistake for me to install apps as soon as 2014, I should have waited a few months before the first round of the plots were out.

  • Toshiba external HARD PX1267E - 1 32 unrecognized disc

I have two hard drives of the same type (px1267E - 1-32) and that they worked perfectly, but suddenly the two do not work on my computer more. I've tried it on other devices, but it does nothing: theres no noise the engine over when I turn it on, but the led on the power supply turns on.

On the computer, there is sometimes the sound that has something plugged, but then I am not on Device Manager (I think that it is in English - I don't know it for sure because I'm only Austrian ;)) nor on my computer - in German 'arbeitsplatz' - and then, after a short period of time, the noise of the clogging-out chimes)
I looked in other Threads and on other Web pages, but nothing helped...

    What should I do?

    Hi wottsn,

Can you see the drives external hard disk of Windows Management tool?

I put t know if you use the same cable for two hard drives but you should test the other cables. A cable is maybe broken so hard drives will be more recognized.

  • XPS 8500 mSATA unrecognized disc

I just installed an Intel SSD 525 series 120 GB drive on the card connector mother mSATA on my XPS 8500.  After the computer starts, the new drive is not recognized by Windows.  It does not appear in the disk manager at all.  Is there any setting/configuration which shuts the mSATA/connection to the port (for example, in the BIOS, etc) which would explain it to be invisible?  Or, it is probably just a faulty SSD?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi DoctorDED,

Here a thread (among many others), which explains how to set up. Good luck!

It appears in disk management with or without a drive letter?

I guess that it is an old internal hard drive you have connected to a third-party device so that it can be used as a USB?

  • HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC: HP Envy 15 with SATA USB adapter 512th Advanced Format HARD drive

    Hello:

I want to clone the HARD drive in my system via a USB to SATA Adapter for an identical external HARD drive - this record could then be used to get back in the quick business failure of internal drive. Internal and external drives are the types of advanced Format.  The drive is: HGST HTS541010A9E680. I see the 4 areas of native k when the disk is connecetd via a USB adapter?  So far, my older USB/SATA Adapter shows the areas 4096 bytes, not he emulated disk 512 byte sectors.

    Thank you

    Hi @teranz

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the adapters can be hit or miss, not always reliable. You could talk to the manufacturer of the adapter for advice.

Regarding booting from a USB key, it looks like you want to install the OS on a USB device. It is possible with some advanced configuration, but it is out of the reach of these forums. You may find help by searching for «portable Windows installation»

    Good luck
