useDaylightTime() method detects bad DST

Hello

I need urgent help on zone with BlackBerry API problem.

The TimeZone.useDaylightTime () detects incorrectly.

For example, I put system for simulator time zone is UTC-3 Montevideo, Montevideo - Uruguay now, time don't use DST, but code returns true.

However, the time displayed in the Simulator is still correct, only detection DST returns incorrectly.

Help, please!

Best regards

Louis Tang.

PS: I wonder that it could be caused by the time zone is not up-to-date, it is why it detects incorrectly, if so, please tell me how to do it is to day.

I use JDE 4.7 OS 4.5.0.81 Simulator

Just tested 4.2.1 using Casablanca and London, Casablanca does not use DST and in London, and the code worked OK.

Is it possible you are checking if the time zone uses DST and thinking that this means that it is currently in a summer period?

    Max,

    Well, Auto-Detect certainly does not work for your printer very well.

    You can work around the problem:

    The problem with the Auto-quelque thing is that it works for almost everyone - except for those for whom it is not.  Good program: not perfect.

    Workaround

    You can manually download and install everything you need your printer Support pages.

    If I were you, I download and keep a complete copy of the typical software - and the 'critical updates that apply to my situation.  Have a copy of the software on your own computer and backups can save time disorder later if necessary you need data.

  • WDDX (de) serialize dateTime with bad DST rules?

    20-Aug-2006 00:00 is translated to 19-Aug-2006 23:00.  This date was in Pacific Daylight Time (-7) but the result seems to be - 8 (PST).

    I have created a Web Service in Lotus Domino 7 and consume it in Coldfusion 8.  I have always given referred to Coldfusion form chains and thought I will try passing a dateTime value.  My code using Java a hack to get the d ISO8601just eaten:

    ("sb_" = java.lang.StringBuffer;) 's__' = java.lang.String. "so" = java.util.Calendar)

    df_SimpleWddx = new SimpleDateFormat ("yyyy-MM-dd' you: ssZ ');
    s__Kludge = df_SimpleWddx.format (ca_Began.getTime ());

    sb_Wddx.Append ("< name var ="dt_Began"> < dateTime > ' + s__Kludge.substring (0: 22) +": "+ s__Kludge.substring (22) + ' < / dateTime > < / var > ');

    My Coldfusion code:

    ("dx_" = WDDX data; "st_" = Coldfusion structure)

    < cfwddx action = "wddx2cfml" input = output "" #dx_BadDates # "="st_BadDates"/ >"

    < cfdump var = "" #st_BadDates # "/ >"

    See {ts ' 2006-08-19 23:00 '} in < cfdump >I changed my Java code:

    sb_Wddx.Append ("< name var ="dt_Began"> <string>" + s__Kludge.substring (0: 22) + ":" + s__Kludge.substring (22) + ' < /string> < / var > ');
    and obtained "2006-08 - 20 T 00: 00:00 - 07:00" (which is OK).

    Unless I'm totally lost, Domino (running JVM 1.4.2_11) sends the date correctly but < cfwddx > is not turn it into a dateTime correctly.  I am running the developer version of Coldfusion (on my local XP machine) and Coldfusion JVM is 1.6.0_04.

    Has anyone else got this battle but won?

    Sorry, it was a test to show adobe email response (s) w/quote appears empty in

    I will put the question of DST wddx to adobe as a bug. in the meantime you will have

  • The State of health does not detect bad memory

    Hey everybody,

    I'm running 3.5 update 4 on a Dell 2950. The

    problem I have is that I get a defective DIMM message on the LED of the

    Server, but the parser memory under the health status is green and happy.

    Any ideas why this happens? I noticed on all of my boxes of the host

    You can not expand the section of memory under State of health; You can

    with all other sections. It could be related? Any thoughts?

    Thank you

    Kevin

    What is the code?  I had E2110 MBE (Bit error memory) which do not show in the State of health.  In the past, I used OpenManage on the ESX host.  The company I am now is not installed and I don't know if they will allow it or not.  My problem is that my mistakes were in equipment that located on our site of DR unmanned and we did not know the errors until we are to test!

  • Several instructions exit in a method - good or bad practice

    Hi fans of Java,.

    I happened to read this article: http://www.theserverside.com/tip/A-return-to-Good-Code on 'theserverside.com' how to have several instructions output in a method is bad programming practices.

    However when you glance through the comments on the article, you will find people showering reactions mixed on this statement.

    I want to know what should be the right road to take when writing code.
    Is there a logic that must decide which method to follow?

  • Harddisk0 has a bad block

    Recently, I got the error "device harddisk0 has a bad block" in Event Viewer and this has happened two times at the same time. I looked at and most people say that I do not understand is that I had this error before on another computer and the hard drive still works fine, but it is the failure of hard drive and it was many years ago that there are errors of disk on that computer. Is it possible that this means not always that hard drive is a failure?   Thank you

    Blocks will bad for various reasons from head crashes to interruptions of current momentary when writing.  A few blocks will wrong here there is no major cause for concern, but if you start to get multiple occurrences then you should start thinking about replacing drive... and certainly to keep your current backups.  The only thing you should do when you start getting bad blocks must be running a full disk check (chkdsk with the option/r or f).  It detects bad blocks and formally to mark these blocks as being 'wrong' for the operating system do not.  It should also avoid getting several warnings for the same bad block bad block.

  • How to detect if daylight saving time is in effect

    Hello

    Is there a way to detect if DST is in effect?

    Ok

    I'm going on it again. I think I have a solution. Suppose you are in a place which observes DST. In other words, changes to the time of one hour for a period of one year.

    The code below is an example of what I did. It compares the time of noon for today and for the last day of December, in time UTC. If DST is activated, two dates will have a difference at the time. If this is not the case, the two hours will be equal.

    QDateTime now = QDateTime::currentDateTime();
    QDateTime nowTime(QDate(now.date().year(), now.date().month(), now.date().day()), QTime(12, 0));
    QDateTime xmas(QDate(now.date().year(), 12, 31), QTime(12, 0));

    QDateTime n2=nowTime.toUTC();
    QDateTime x2=xmas.toUTC();

    int time1 = n2.time().hour();
    int time2 = x2.time().hour();

    if (time1 == time2)
        qDebug() << "DST not in effect.";
    else
        qDebug() << "DST in effect.";

  • Lets run the multilingual method and input of blackBerry Smartphones

    I've updated the 7.1 os and it took me to multilingual method and input. I had once managed a whole upward. in any case, it seemed now missing on the phone, and on the desktop PC does not show language. I did remove the OSI and reinstall, the the same problem. I want that it multilingual and other language input method. Any suggestion? Please take note.

    OK... that now makes sense... the automatic method detects your BB and the level of operating system installed, but is not able to download correctly what it needs from the Internet to continue. And the Red Star means that there is an update, he wants to offer you, but again he has trouble to download what suits him.

    So, what you need to do is to defeat the automatic method and force instead of things. The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

    1) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (2) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (3) download and install to your PC, the BB OS package you want:

    • http://us.BlackBerry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    • If you want to just reload your current version, you can access your carriers download portal and get the same exact package you are already running
      • KB23393 How to check the model number and the version of the BlackBerry device software on a BlackBerry smartphone
    • But if you want to go for an update, you can see what your company has, or you can dig into all of the companies that support your specific model BB number and compare versions of each provision.
    • Also consider this information as you choose your BB OS package:
      • KB05305 Location of support for BlackBerry smartphones

    4) remove, on your PC, all copies of the SELLER. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

    (5) run the Desktop software and connect your BB

    If you chose to update your BB OS, then the software should immediately offer the bundle of BONES that you have installed on your PC, before you can do anything else. If, during the process, your BB votre BB a '507' error, simply unplug the power cord of the BB USB and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

    If you have chosen your BB exact same OS package that is already running on your BB, then you should be able to proceed with the installation language you want (assuming, based on the location of KB, you have installed the right BB OS package that includes the language of your choice).

    Do not forget to save.

    Good luck and let us know!

  • PowerCLI: Detect in time a misconfiguration

    Hi all

    I'm looking for PowerCLI code to detect 'Bad Date & Time Settings'

    We have a few servers ESXi 4.0 U1 (Dell blades) which the BIOS time has too much lag to the NTP server.

    So it will never be synchronized time.

    In vCenter the Date & Time Configuration is shown in red (differs too much from customer).

    Is there a Powershell code to detect which host has a misconfigured date / time setting?

    (I do not go through 200 hosts manually...  )

    Thanks for your help.

    Kind regards

    Hello

    VMHost.ExtensionData property is new in PowerCLI 4.1 and in order to run this script with PowerCLI 4.0 you must replace it with get - view

    invocation:

    Get-VMhost | Get-view |% {
        #get host datetime system
        $dts = get-view $_.ConfigManager.DateTimeSystem
    ...

    Here is the final version of the script:

    $allowedDifferenceSeconds = 20

    get-view -ViewType HostSystem -Property Name, ConfigManager.DateTimeSystem | %{
        #get host datetime system
        $dts = get-view $_.ConfigManager.DateTimeSystem

        #get host time
        $t = $dts.QueryDateTime()

        #calculate time difference in seconds
        $s = ( $t - [DateTime]::UtcNow).TotalSeconds

        #check if time difference is too much
        if( $s -gt $allowedDifferenceSeconds){
            #print host and time difference in seconds
            $row = "" | select HostName, Seconds
            $row.HostName = $_.Name
            $row.Seconds = $s
            $row
        }
    }

    By using Get-View-ViewType HostSystem since it is the fastest way to get the view for each object VMhost

    Could do in chkdsk but after 24 hrs, it had not gotten past 66%...

    He tried again and was brought to the same 66%, but not more than details... On an attempt to a third try, just the system error changed to: * STOP 0 x 000000 (0x000000 0x000000)...

    Used a "Norton" web antivirus protection, but could not rearm after the installation... Then the colors started to dissipate, screen resolution could not be reset, and possibly for errors I described...

    If a disk is damaged to the point where "chkdksk" is unable to repair it after this time, your only alternative is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows.  The process of reinstalling Windows, reformatted your hard drive.  If offered the choice between a 'rapid' or not formatting, do not choose the quick option as a thorough format will detect bad sectors and map.

    If you need to backup your data before you reinstall Windows, you can reboot your machine Linux Livecd such as Knoppix or on a CD to boot from Windows PE recovery such as BartPE and UBCD4Win and, when it is started, back up your data on a USB drive or network.

    Most OEMs provide for hitting a key or combination of keys when the first splash screen appears after your computer starts in order to reinstall Windows on the condition as purchased.  Check the manual of the owner for the right method reinstall Windows on your computer.

  • Remove my USB write protection

    Hello

    Today I was transferring a large file to my pen drive which (manufactured is unknown) and in the Middle the procces it says that my USB has the write protection, this is not the first time that I tried to transfer files to the device and before it worked like a charm.

    I tried the normal methods to remove the unit like going in properties, hack rededit method, the method diskstart of the cmd command, the method of formatting, physical locking switch.

    nothing worked, I tried even other pcs and always locked. any ideas?

    Hello

    1. is specific to this USB issue special?
    2 have you made any changes to the computer, before the show?

    As you have tried different computers and you still face the question, it is quite likely that the USB has some issues and not the operating system.

    Method 1:

    Run the troubleshooter of material and check.
    Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

    Method 2:

    Run a scan to check on the USB drive.
    Check a drive for errors
    Important: While performing a disk check, if it detects bad sectors and trying to fix it, all the data available in this area may be lost.

    If the above is not enough, it is better that get you in touch with the store where you bought the USB for assistance related to this topic.
  • MacBook Pro does not charge

    I feel that this question is asked a million times, but I'd like to walk you guys through my situation.

    Retina Macbook Pro 2013 (out of warranty of course) in excellent condition. Fully updated software.

    A year ago, I had a problem with intermittent loading. Of course, I went online and followed the instructions on resetting the SMC. Sometimes it would work, other times not. Sometimes the software updates would trigger the loader to activate when the system is restarted. I would like to try various outlets around the House with none of them work. Is my next laptop Apple certified tech and is it charged out of their fine magsafe charger. I thought, cool, I'll buy a new charger. I understand House and it does not load. This process is repeated for a year. I could get the new charger or one laptop comes with to work. After a time I kind of nailed what I could warm up the bricks of charger with the warmth of the body and get them to come. Kind of weird but it worked... sometimes. If fast-forward a couple of weeks. I could not the computer to load at all. I took a day and I have tried everything in the book:

    • Resetting the SMC
    • Try the different points of sale
    • Warming of the charger
    • Update the system software
    • Leaving the charger unplugged for hours and try again (it of in case of dirty power coming out walls and locks the charger?)

    So I took it to my local tech again and it started to load automatically off not only their Chargers, but both of my friends... He performs a reset SMC, talking about me on the House of tension circuits and sends me on my way, pretty confusing. I get it home and charge the battery to 100%, but two weeks later here I am again with a Macbook Pro which does not load... This time I even tried to load out of a UPS System.

    I consider myself very savvy computer, especially with the Mac. I have a decent background in electrical systems of the classes I took in high school and college. I read the manuals, I do my homework, I take excellent care of my devices. But honestly, *...

    Any ideas would be appreciated. I'll take in addition to anyway. My local tech makes an appointment and I can't get an appointment of bar genius until next week. I have a laptop dead at this time.

    I do my homework,

    Certainly, you made and excluded from all the obvious concerns besides a few non-obvious. The only remaining uncertainty, I can suggest is your domestic food, since your Mac seems to load very well everywhere else. Power of the Mac adapter intelligently will close if it detects bad quality. Other than to call it 'noise' Apple is characteristically silent when it comes to debate just what are the parameters it uses to accomplish this.

    Most inverters do much through food. An alternative is to use a 'real online' or 'double conversion online' UPS, which are more expensive because they are still deriving their battery power, thus isolating their input and output power. Another esoteric alternative that I don't necessarily recommend is to use a ferroresonnant transformer. They are inherently inefficient, but concretely achieve isolation even.

    You know that the extension is involved?

    You shouldn't have any problem starting Firefox in Mode safe mode if the problem is really due to an extension. Take a look at this support article to start Firefox in Mode safe or to detect bad extension.

    Maybe the defined extension new tab URL with the URL target when Firefox starts, and once the first new tab is opened, the extension put once again the new URL of the tab with the default this time.

With this in mind, I wonder if .NET patches that were released were running somehow at the time of sleep and that he could not recover.  OR, during sleep, the system was made of updates and the system has been disabled, corrupting the updates.  I looked at the Windows Update settings and it has been set to automatically install updates.  It is quite possible that the user did not know and did not recognize there are pending updates.  Maybe updates were not correctly packed in order to manage a system from going into Sleep Mode, while they were installing. In any case, any who would provide help on how to identify the problem and fix it.  There may be registry entries need to be corrected?

    Microsoft support has provided a solution.  Here is the procedure:

    We can run reset Windows Update Tool and system update tool to detect incorrect manifests, files or data from the registry. Please follow the steps below.

    Step 1: Launch the tool to reset Windows Update and the update of the system tool
    ====================================
    1 download and run reset Windows Update Tool from the link below:

    http://go.Microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683

    2 download and run the update tool of the system from the link below depending on the Type of system:

    Update for Windows Vista 32-bit system tool

    Note: It may take an hour or more time to detect and replace the erroneous data, please be patient. When it is finished, restart the computer and reinstall Windows Vista SP2.

    If Windows Vista SP2 can not always be installed, I suggest to download the stand-alone Installer and install it in clean boot Mode.

    Step 2: Download the installer of Windows Vista SP2 Standalone
    ===========================================
    1 download the installer of Windows Vista SP2 Standalone from the link below depending on the Type of system:

    Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - version independent ALL languages for Windows Vista 32 bit (KB948465) (475,5 MB)

    Step 3: Install Windows Vista SP2 in clean boot Mode
    =========================================
    Please disable all startup items and services of third parties at boot to avoid conflict when installing Windows Vista SP2.

    1. click on 'Start', type: MSCONFIG in the search box and press ENTER.

    Note: Click 'Continue' if the "User Account Control" window appears.

    2. click on 'Services', check "Hide all Microsoft Services" and click on 'Disable All' (if it's not gray).
    3. click on 'Start', click 'Disable all', click 'OK' and restart the computer.

    Note: Disable temporarily the startup group only prevents the start up programs from loading at startup. This should not affect the system or other programs. We can manually run these programs later.

    4. double-click the downloaded standalone installer and follow the instructions to install Windows Vista SP2.

    To restore the computer to a Normal startup, repeat step 1 above. Then click "Normal startup" in the general tab, click on "OK" and restart the computer.

    If there are any questions or concerns, feel free to let me know. It is my pleasure to be useful.

    The cause was not determined, but evidence tends to a disturbance in the download or installation process, with one of the errors in the event log is an error in checksum on one of the modules. With a large file, 745 meg, the mean time to failure on a LAN network is probably shorter than the download time.  The installation process was probably longer than the time that the system has increased...  Corrective actions for Microsoft could include more small download / install, not allowing an automatic installation for automatic download over a certain size, or deal with the best controls during installation to intercept the checksum error.  Duane G.
