  I have a cluster on my façade containing different types of controls (digital ring, etc.). Two controls are multiplied and the result is displayed as an indicator on the front panel.

  From the point of view of users, this indicator is part of the data set, but it is outside the cluser, looking a bit messy. Is it possible to bring him inside the cluser, on the front panel at least?

  Asked before. The answer is no. You can, however, have simply indicator sitting "over" in the cluster, but not physically in it. Select the indicator and then using the arrow keys on your keyboard, move on the cluster. It is not placed in the cluster, but lie on a different plan-Z. It will be a shadow in edit mode, but the shadow disappears in run mode.

• Why can't you have variable conditionalized on template and control them with expressions?

  I have a chapter that is shared between two guides with different titles. On master pages, I inserted the variables for the two titles of books and conditionalized of each variable.

  When I go to the pages of the body, both titles appear in footers. When I apply expressions to control what as I want to appear, they both disappear. The only way of making return must show all.

  Note that the expressions work perfectly with conditional text on the pages of body. Apparenlty that they do not work on master pages. This seems to be a bug, no?

  I withdraw this question: you can have variable conditionalized on master pages and control them with expressions, provided your expressions do not confuse FM. For example, in the chapter, I have this expression:

  "NotInHelp" ANDNOT "hidden" ANDNOT "SalesPM" ANDNOT "HelpOnly" ANDNOT "Report_Caching."

  The first tag condition, NotInHelp, to which we are asking FM to show (the others hid), is the cause of all hide conditionalilzed, even if it worked properly when we tested it in an individual file.

  Remove "NotInHelpAND" solved the problem. Learned something about expressions today. fun!

  Well, I'm a long time user, but that will come back some time.

  A global variable is basically a VI without a block diagram, so you should be able to place a Boolean control on the global variable just as you would place a digital command. Boolean values are treated differently at the time, but it probably won't affect what you do. The prices you say you tried, you can't put a Boolean value controlling this? I honestly don't remember not that is the case, but if this is the case, you can still use the functional overall construction, which is what we did before global variables have been introduced.

• Passing variables between LabVIEW and TestStand

  I'm just learning how to use TestStand and although there are a multitude of resources available, I always find me at a loss on how to pass variables between TS and LV, leaving me to think that there is one fundamental thing that I'm missing which is likely, given that I have a weeks experience with LabVIEW and a days of experience with TestStand.

  I took a glance to the example of 'Clusters' to the Code Modules in TestStand examples (I use TS 2016 if it matters) because I thought it would be quite ideal for what I hope. In this case, I hope to be able to pass a string (a file path) to LabVIEW and VI power take this string and use it as part of an order for the Exec.VI system.  Then, I would be able to pass strings back to TestStand to show the user if an error occurred, but I thought I should get the first part of work.

  I guess my question is what do I have to wait to see in clusters to the example of the Modules of Code? The Watch window displays all defined variables premise on which has the ContainerOut in the Variables pane, but I don't see any kind of update on facades (VI1.vi and VI2.vi) LabVIEW code. Should I be?

  I looked at a few other discussions of the forum here and here, as well as the document of the basis of knowledge here, but could not recreate their solutions. It seems that the connector pane would be a viable way to go, but I'm not sure on how we create and use effectively. According to this document , it makes it seem like it should be simple enough to makes these terminals, but I am still missing a key step. I was able to follow all the steps on the knowledge base document and run the sequence, but then had no idea if it worked or not; I have the report show me the values of the variables I put, but I have no idea whether or not he actually did anything with the LabVIEW VI, or how I could see that.

  Please let me know if you need further information or clarifaction everything I ask.

  Two other methods not mentioned in the otherwise excellent document that mentioned Matt are the use of a global variable 'stop all' and a relative using a Global Variable of VIG/functional.  The reason to talk about, is that they can be used also stop 'detached' live, live which are defined to run asynchronously (and therefore a bit 'out of control') regarding the main VI.

  I use a "combination of ingredients" for some projects I'm developing using LabVIEW 2016 and its support of the channels.  For example, I use a Messenger channel to create something akin to a message in queue manager.  When the event loop detects that the exit button has been pushed back, it puts a Message "Exit" on the channel of Messenger and stops himself.  When the Message Loop sees "Exit", it sends one release Message who else has need to see (in one case, the producer of a producer/consumer model) and stops himself.  When the producer Gets the output Message, it puts a "last element is invalid" on the flow of the channel for consumers and stops himself.  When the consumer gets the message of the last element, he stops himself.  A magnificent waterfall.

  And I work (not yet 100% complete) how to extend this to start the asynchronous calls that do not (yet) support channels as easily...

  in my IUR I can find LO_LVL_PNL components, but not parts of DITHERING.

  Then, I renamed my generated header file, so it can regenerate without these additional items, but they get included when I recreate it.

  In the file of the UIR, if I double click on he Panel it opens and displays that the Panel is called LO_LVL_PNL.

  It started because I'm trying to read the value of a switch on the Panel, and in the call, I get a runtime error that follows:

  I don't know if it's two separate issues, or DITHER things cause the error; but I need help to fix both.

  The first parameter to GetCtrlAttribute() must be the handle Panel, not the ID of the Panel. The handle is returned by your LoadPanel() call.

  Do you already have a group called DITHERING? Copied from an earlier project, perhaps? Perhaps the editor of UIR has hidden or placed outside the screen. Try using the option editor find to see.

• Disable defender and Security Essentials due to conflicts, has blocked access and control other programs.

  Hello, I use Windows 7 on a HP G60 laptop. I disabled Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials because I started running free Panda and Malwarebytes Antimalware version. Now an error window Defender blocking access and control of a large number of programs, the window message trying to force me to turn Defender. Disabling Security Essentials is causing other things to not work. I can not yet re - turn on Defender, if I try clicking on the link in the error window, it will not restart, expires.  Tried to turn it back on using the Task Manager, but there is no response at all if I click Start. Access to Services and programs in the start Panel are all both blocked by Defender error window.  I actually want defender and Security Essentials, because they are redundant and are in conflict with other programs I am running, but apparently they cannot be disabled without blocking access to my computer. I thought it was harmful to run all these programs of security in conflict between them, now I can't use my computer at all. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

  Thanks much for the advice. I have a few other questions. Defender is not separated from the essential? Then uninstall Security Essentials would have no effect on the Defender isn't it? My problem is that Defender deactivation now blocks access to many other programs with a Defender error window.  I read that Essentials was supposed to replace defender and Defender should have been stopped or disabled when Essentials has been installed. Is this correct? I didn't, got them both running.  When I installed Panda, I got a notification from Windows on the conflict and choose which program to use. Although I chose my own safety programs at the time, which was never disabled Defender or kept from running. So I finally did it manually by accessing the properties in Services to change the startup type to disable, which is when all the trouble started.

• strategy of redo and control files

  Excuse my ignorance in this area (not oracle or a DBA), but from a risk perspective, I read his best practices for storing a redundant copy of recovery logs and control files on a separate disk / server - for redundancy.

  However, if the server is a server database physical, with local storage (in which case files of database and the oracle software resides), no configuration of cluster if the server dies a sudden death, then what exactly are the newspapers redundant recovery and control of files will save you of? Is it to minimize the loss of data, or else (told you I wasn't a DBA or Oracle guru). If you back up your recovery connects dialy then I don't know what exactly the redundant copies really are for/record you leave?

  So if the server dies (and the storage is still ok) and then transport the storage to another server and you are in business again. Multiplexing or not does not change your ability to use another server.

  In a disaster situation, where you lose the server and the storage is also lost, so you have to go to a backup and multiplexing saves you from what it is because the backup has only 1 copy of the controlfile and archivelogs.

  If you get a logical corruption (IE a bug in the software) with controlfiles multiplex, then you're still screwed because all controlfiles are physical copies of each other, so all controlfiles have the same corruption. In this case, you must go to a good backup of the controlfile.

  Multiplexing allows you to save when you get corruption Physics (due to the corruption of storage) of your command multiplex or multiplex redo logs file, and so you can use the good copy of the file control or redo logs to continue without losing the validated data.

  As long as you have not given advice in the original Version that you can just add the tips in the EO and recompile the model project. The indicators will then be inherited by the VO.

  I have a question about the CBO and collected LOW_VALUE and HIGH_VALUE statistics values. I saw the following on a database of oracle 10.2.0.4.
  CBO decides a different execution plan, if we use the bind variable (without bind peeking) or literals - no histograms do exist on the columns of the table.
  Unfortunately I have no export statistics to reproduce this behavior on my test database, but it was 'something' like that.
  
  Environment:
  -Oracle 10 g 10.2.0.4
  -Bind peeking disabled (_optim_peek_user_binds = FALSE)
  -No histograms
  -No partitioned table/index
  
  The table (TAB) has 2 indexes on it:
  -An index (INDEX A1) included the date (which was a NUMBER column) and the values in the columns of this spread of 0 (LOW_VALUE) up to 99991231000000 (HIGH_VALUE).
  -An index (INDEX A2) included the number that has been very selective (separate keys almost the same num lines)
  
  The query now looks like this:

  SELECT * FROM TAB WHERE DATE BETWEEN :DATE1 AND :DATE2 AND ARTICLENR = :ARTNR;

  And calculated the CBO, the best execution plan would be a scan interval index on two indexes and perform a btree-to-bitmap conversion... compare the row ID returned the two indexes and then access the table TAB with that.
  What the CBO didn't know not (because of the handicapped stealthily) was, that the user has entered (= 0) of DATE1 and DATE2 (= 99991231000000)... so the access index index A1 makes no sense.
  
  Now, I run the query with literals just to DATE... so the query looks like this:

  SELECT * FROM TAB WHERE DATE BETWEEN 0 AND 99991231000000 AND ARTICLENR = :ARTNR;

  And then the CBO has made the right choice... just accessing index A2 which was very selective, then acceesed table TAB by ROWID.
  The query has been much faster (factor 4-5) and the user was happy.
  
  As I already mentioned, there is no historgrams that I was very surprised, the execution plan changed due to the use of literals.
  
  Anyone know what the CBO includes HIGH_VALUE and LOW_VALUE values in its calcuation of execution plan?
  So far, I thought that these values will be used only in the case of histograms.

  I went in earlier today, a situation when someone (it wasn't me this time!):
  (1) a to back up a database and its archivelogs, in a compressed backup sets;
  (2) pushed the files to another server and
  (3) deleted everything on the server source, including ALL control files and control files.
  
  As he tried to recover the control file was missing and asked for help... I worked around the issue by using the snapshot controlfile he had forgotten (lucky me!)
  
  Now I can not remove from my mind the idea that I won't be so lucky the next time... I wonder if there is another way to work around this problem?
  
  Does anyone have an idea how to restore the contents of a backupset when we lack ALL control files and their backups? I tried to save the backup in the controlfile to a different database, but it does not work. I didn't find anyway to recreate a controlfile with a specific dbid without data files (and those who are in the backupset...).
