Very skeptical

Hello. I just bought a macbook pro retina. I use it for 4 days now, and to be honest, I'm not impressed. I got a dell i3 for the past 3 year old laptop and I am very skeptical right now cause I found my mac not quickly and not smooth enough not enough. And if this comes from a person who had an old Dell, you can imagine it is not a good sing... I need your opinion on this. I have to go to the apple store to see if something wrong with my mac or is how does in general?

Thank you...

Now fast enough to do what process?

Not sure what you mean by smooth?

If you are really unhappy with your new Mac, yo have 14 calendar days since your items are delivered to initiate a return as noted here.

  • Satellite 2430-402: which HARD drive I can use for an upgrade

    Hello

I have a 2430-402 satellite and the hard drive is full. Can someone tell me the greatest, he will take care and what kind do I buy? (Probably not PATA or SATA but I should look into IDE)

    Thank you

    Jez

    Hello

You are right. To my knowledge, the Satellite 2430 was delivered with an improved interface to drive HARD IDE (ATA-5). Therefore, we must look for IDE hard disks.

I'm not sure about Mr. size of HARD drive max. I think that Toshiba provides official information what size HARD drive max can be used. I presume to test

Laptop has been delivered with a40GB HARD disk. Am I wrong?
Hmm in my opinion the 60GB HDD should run. You might also try a 80 GB HARD drive if it s compatible.
But I really very skeptical about larger sizes.

  • The upgrade of the disk on my Satellite M35 Pro

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M35 (PSM35E-0023J-EN) that has worked well for me (apart from a problem with the mother board 18 months ago and covered under warranty), but I would like to make a few updates.

I have already upgraded the RAM, who brought a big performance improvement, but I would like to put in a new hard drive. For the moment, it has the standard 40 GB (MK4025GAS), but that does not really offer enough storage for my current needs (she barely covers my music collection). I thought I'd do a 160 GB drive - possibly a [Hitachi Travelstar | http://www.ebuyer.com/product/117748/show_product_specifications] or a [Seagate Momentus | http://www.ebuyer.com/product/108779/show_product_specifications].

These are two disks 5 400 rpm, rather than my 4 200 current drive that should give me a little help in speed, but which will cause heating issues?
Is there a limit to the size of the hard drive that my BIOS or hard disk controller can handle?
Has anyone tried putting these in a series of M? Work well?

    Thanks in advance,

    -Tim

    Hi Tim

I think that the disc HARD higher rotation speed shouldn't t be a problem.
But I wonder about the large size of HARD drive.
In my opinion the 160 GB HARD drive is not much. The BIOS would not recognize the HARD drive due to the limitation of size of HARD drive I think you can try to use a 80 GB but I'm very skeptical on the 160 GB.

Maybe you need to use the advanced option to this forum to get a similar question on a Sat A30/35 computers laptops.

However, you could test this HDD and maybe it will work so your feedback would be appreciated.

  • Satellite A300 - issue Downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hi all...
    IM intending to get rid of my windows Vista SP2 (32 bit) and XP SP3 (32 bit). My laptop is: [Satellite A300 - 1 G 5 | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 1055589].

Now, I studied the topic before posting. When the first time I tried to install XP laptop does not recognize the CD of the OS and I failed. Later, I found a topic suggesting through the BIOS and change the HHD of ACHI to compatibility mode, so I did and it works but I have not installed yet. I have a few question reclassification process.

    1. once I have install the XP, can I put the AHCI mode? gives me a better performance (I really don't know what is ACHI!)
    2. this void my warranty?
    3. If I had a problem, the XP installation failed for some reason any and no OS on my laptop, will still be able to use the recovery DVDs to restore my laptop?
    4. now, the issue of the pilots. Here: [list of drivers Vista | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU] and here: [list of Drivers XP | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU], the question as follows:

    (A) some drivers exist in the list of drivers Vista but does NOT exist in XP driver list; as: DVD player, facial recognition, supervisor password, driver of the SRT, tiles for the mobility and WPS Library Center. What should I do?

    (B) is there a specific order to install drivers? as a driver for a device must exist before a driver to avoid conflicts or overwrite files?

    (C) there are several drivers for the same device, how to choose one? example: the Wireless Lan Driver has several companies (Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, Atheros and Intel); which I will use?

    5. is it true that Vista is better than XP mobility? will (consumption and the heat of power management) XP my laptop do suffer from heat because the laptop is already packed with vista? I mean, they tried what OS fits perfectly on the machine, unless Toshiba push just Vista people because Microsoft needs that... lol

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Hope that my questions are clear, I had something else to ask, its a matter of opinion. are there advantages of Vista on XP? I use my laptop for some games and make some 3Ds MAX, which both require a lot of RAM, Vista eats up to 1 GB of my RAM, so that XP barely fill half a GB of RAM, that is my main concern when I decided to go for XP. I'd like to hear your opinions and experience life...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

In my opinion there is no great reason to change to Windows XP Home edition OS. Optimize Vista can also run well and stable on your laptop. I was very skeptical on Vista but now after a year of use I can work very well with it. Soon we will again have Win7 and it should work much better than Vista.

My point of view is in a hurry and do not always return to comfortable. Of course, you can do what you want and your decision is quite legitimate. I imagine that you will get better performance under Windows XP Home edition for all activities, that you do every day.

I must also say that you did the right thing to pick up some info before you start the installation of Windows XP Home edition. On this forum, you can find a lot of interesting and useful discussions.

    Back to your questions:
    1 n ° best performance, you'll have under ACHI.

    # 2 you can install what you want.

3 Yes, but only the DVD. F8 option no longer works and the image on the second partition will be useless.

    4
At the drivers, tools and utilities are not the same for Vista new and old WXP. Install available stuff. It is not enough.
B - generally YES. If you need help with this let know us.
C you know what WLAN card is in your laptop. Check Device Manager under Vista.

5 I didn't noticed any difference. Toshiba installs Windows XP Home edition for years and has good experience with this. You can use great Toshiba power saver tool in Windows XP Home edition and optimise energy consumption, cooling method and performance. In Vista, you can do the same.

  • Can I switch from a graphics without a new power supply on the Pavilion p6120t?

Have your desktop Pavilion p6120t with power supply 250w... I was wondering if any of "recommended" card graphic 512 MB (GeForce G210, Radeon HD4350 and nVidia GeForce GT 120) would be OK with 250 watts?

MC, I would be very skeptical about upgrading the video card without upgrading the PSU.  250W POWER simply do not have the power to run a more powerful video card.

Please help me solve this problem.

Also is it poss to upgrade cpu IE is nested cpu. I already upgraded a laptop cpu when thay had nested CPU, so I am aware of the problems that arise
Thank you all for your help in this matter.

    Hi Mike

    > I had the misfortune to get 2 SODIMM KVR667D2S5 / 1 G for my laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-551 that don't work by themselves a single sodimm or as a pair, it doesn't matter which slot they go-they do not work.
It of clear-> modules seems to be not not compatible ;)

    > However when the original 512 MB sodimm is placed in one of the slots - anyone - either of the kvr etc. SODIMM work giving a total of 1.5 GB of ram.

Can't believe that! As far as I know this laptop was shipped only with a 512MB DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM module.
Of course you can improve the memory up to 2 GB using two modules 1024Mo.

Compatible memory that you can find here:

Well, what say, the CPU is hit you can find easily by using a material like Everest diagnostic program. It would provide useful information on your laptop hardware.

But to be honest, I'm very skeptical as to upgrade CPU on laptops.
If you have already modified several processors on laptops so you know that's not very simple and more complicated as the CPU upgrade on desktop computers.

  • Qosmio G10-133 & Vista can't recognize my memory stick

    Hello

I installed VISTA on this laptop, and I had a few problems that you can imagine!

I can't recognize my memory stick. I can't find the drivers and that Windows is unable to solve the problem.

    Someone got clues?

I'm also having a problem if I turned the laptop off. The only way I can get the power on button to work is to remove the power cable and the battery and then I turn on the laptop. If I don't take the power cable and the battery I get the green light on the power button, or no light at all, and by pressing seems to do nothing. I also have an orange light blinking on power light on the front of the laptop. I guess it's something to do with the thought of the computer it has hibernated or something?

    What to say to boyfriend.
The Vista is not officially supported on the Qosmio G10 and the Vista drivers don t series there for this series.
Always is it that you need a card reader driver to use the memory sticks. But as I said above, these drivers are not available and don t exist.

What you can do is to check the drivers for G30 but I'm very skeptical that it will work on the G10.

The WOW computer; My father a question on this computer. He lives in an AJ. Mag. AARP, it's a reliable computer? What are the differences between this computer and other computers? This computer would be a good computer for seniors? Want to hear your opinion.

Here's a view of a senior. I am very skeptical. The absence of any comments is immediately disconcerting. My suspicions are that it is one of these products too much hype, too expensive that do not meet expectations.  In my opinion, you are better off buying one of the most typical computers that you can try at your local retailers.

I just got a call from a person very alien pretending to be Microsoft Windows technicians who called to report that they were receiving virus alerts that came from our computer (it was apparently sends these signals). When I explained that we have 3 computers at home, they said that the 3 will be tested. I asked them to check their Microsoft identity and received a long confirmation #... Called several times in recent weeks. I ran the Scanner of MS and nothing turns upward. Very skeptical about this appellant.

    Hello

    It's a scam.

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

Hello.  How can I back up all my files from Outlook data.   My computer has been infected and it is suggested that I have backup my files and reinstall my operating system.  I am a novice and very skeptical as to what to do.  Help, please!

  • T410s Ultrabay problem - hard drive requires more power

I'm working on upgrading a T410s to give it as a gift to my girlfriend. I've already upgraded the ram and had to replace the screen and both went very well.

Now, I'm working on adding a second hard drive with the ultrabay. I'll keep the original SSD as my boot drive and you want to use the ultrabay for a normal HARD drive to increase the total space for her. It is a graphic design / photography major space would be nice.

I bought a 3rd party caddy and a WD Black 750 g 7200 RPM drive through Amazon. I followed the advice that I heard somewhere that you need to make a shortcut of the old EVD to access the new hard disk drive. When I installed the ultrabay and booted up, the computer could not access E:. Nothing happened.

I heard somewhere else ultrabay housing could use only 5 units of power (I don't know if it was watts or volts) and therefore the WD black drive series, I got is likely to need more power to operate (9-12 units). This noise to anyone who has installed a ultrabay correct? Maybe at the time where the T410s first came out, most hard drives use more than 5 units?

    Any recommendations? Thank you!

I don't know what are the units of power, and I never heard of the the ultrabay on a T410s not giving a hard drive of all the power he needs. I must admit that I am very skeptical about the claim that you read.

Perhaps the drive has not been initialized because it's new? If you are on Windows 7, click the Start button and type "create and format" in the search bar. You should see the drive it so that it can be initialized. Another way to get there is by going to control panel > administrative tools > computer management > disk management.

  • Acer Aspire 5336, struck by lightning...

Hello everyone! I'm new here so sorry if someone asked this question...

There is one in my laptop (Acer Aspire 5336) were struck by lightning, this sense that I was using an ethernet cable at the time where my house was struck by lightning, electricity traveled down through my router (that knocking out) and ended up on my laptop.

I was a little scared and worried. I tried to turn on my laptop eventually, but it would power about 3-4 seconds and then crash. So I thought that my laptop has been screwed.

Hey well a year. I started thinking why don't I just fix it? I really do not have the money to buy a new laptop, and because I get a motherboard for £30 I thought: why not?

What my question is... My laptop can indeed be repaired by replacing the motherboard?

I've seen people post online about how it can be fixed by replacing the motherboard, but I'm very skeptical about it incase it is another problem and not the motherboard.

The computer is 4 years old, so it is not covered by the warranty. And I don't have the money to get it repaired by a professional.

If someone could help me with this question, I would be very grateful

change the motherboard on a laptop, it's like change of 99% of the material, so 99% that it will solve your problem.

in my opinion, I just fix it if I found a very good motherboard cheap, less than $ 150.

I received a phone call this morning with a guy by pretending that it was Windows.  He said that having received a report from my computer it's going to crash and I had to follow his instructions.  I was very skeptical of this... • Upgrading from Windows Vista Home Premium at 8 - CPU does not support NX

    Hello

I have Vista Home Premium (very probably OEM as it came with the PC) on a PC and I bought the upgrade license to Windows 8 Pro.
I understand that it is in terms of the license transition, but here is my problem:
The CPU does not support NX (and for sure there is no setting in the BIOS for this).
    So I can't move to 8.
To replace the CPU, I need to replace the motherboard.
If I replace the motherboard my understanding is I'm losing the license because it OEM.
So, in reality, I can't switch to Win 8.
The license, I bought said that I can pass any system running XP, Vista, Win 7 to 8 Win.
It does not distinguish between older versions of Windows OEM and retail versions.
For me, it's a huge conflict.
    So the question is:
Can I change the CPU + motherboard to earn 8? or not?
    Thank you
It has been some time but I finally had the time to do the upgrade (hardware + software).
For history and for others who could come on this post with a similar question and be discouraged by responses like this:
I contacted the technical support of MS and they confirmed that I had a Windows 8 Pro upgrade license and after upgrading my license would Win 8 Pro full-detail (what you want to call it). Essentially, after upgrade, I can reinstall any other motherboard. Of course you can only use a license on a machine at one time.
(Of course your upgrade license type may be different to mine, so you should check they type of license)
In any case, what is more interesting, it of that I got the confirmation that I can do a clean install and activate my upgrade license. Not only that, but they recommended the installation of Vista should not be present when installing on 8 to win. I was very skeptical and I asked for an account of the cat to be on the right side. They assured me that the support had made several times and is not a problem.
And so, I do a clean install on the new motherboard (and a new player) and activated windows 8 with no problems at all.
It seems very stupid that you can change the motherboard after the upgrade, but could not make the move and the Windows update at the same time. Fortunately, it is not the case.
To me, it seems that the MS are aware that in you to go from XP (soon), they should also use the materials for the upgrade.
