View best practices 5.0

I have following questions that I posted here for the questions that I'm not 100% sure. Please throw your knowledge here in the forum.

  • Pools configuration - what is the value with the disc "disposable" on a non-persistent view desktop? If the desktop view is not persistent & deleted each time is there any value to have a disposable disc? If there & the pagefile is there, is it advisable to assign level 1 for the disposable disc?

  • Persona Logging - when I get errors on the Office for the management of the Persona, where are the logs so I can investigate the matter? These are the logs that need to be configured in the group policy or local policy.

  • The page file - what's the verdict on virtual desktops with page files! There are some conflicting information where some argue less I/O do that no page file...

Thank you

1: the disposable disc is removed only when the machine is turned off.  If you leave your virtual machines all the time or refresh on logoff you probably will not see a big change with the disposable disk since they are intended to slow the growth of the clones.   They are also stored with the virtual machine, so you cannot assign tier 1 storage without putting the virtual machine on level 1.

2 check for persona is configured in the same GPO allows you to activate the persona.    You can specify the location and debug level in this GPO.

3: I leave mine it but some applications behavir strangely when there is no pagefile.

  • View upgrade 4.0 to 4.6 view best practices

Hi, I'm looking at upgrading my view 4.0 environment to display 4.6 and reflected on the upgrade guide. Should I upgrade my environment vSphere 4.0 environment 4.1 last before tackling the upgrade of my view? If so, what can I say/use to justify the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1? Best performance?  All the links for the upgrade of the display will be greatly appreciated and points awarded!

Please follow the steps in the Upgrade Guide. They are fairly easy to follow.

    In short:

    1. upgrade the view connection server components

    2 upgrade View Composer

    3. improving the environment vSpehere

    4. upgrade the tools VMware and virtual hardware on all the virtual machines in parent, virtual machine

  • Web Viewer: Best practices and Limitations

The opportunity to share our publication online via a web viewer is an asset to have. However, I noticed some blockages in two folios, we have made available online: videos suddenly stop playing; slow scrolling pages are not completely accessible to see; interactivity does not work in different browsers. I wonder if there is any documentation or advice to ensure a smoother experience across all display options.

    Hello

Thanks for the additional details. We look at the issues you reported and have a few comments.

Here are a few quick notes for each of the elements.

    -Video suddenly stop playing.

We had a new web viewer updated today, and this seems to have solved the problem with the video stopping on this article.

    http://ContentViewer.Adobe.com/s/Airman%20Magazine/c31b3f6bf51348f280a8bf8e57d33ee4/2013-0 6/7%20SUMMITS%20SIDEBAR.html

In this article, there is a play button placed inside the OSM. ASM has been put to play as a slide show and the loop. It was originally an interaction with the video that caused it close. We have made some changes to the way video MSOs interact in this latest version, and that avoids this problem.

Yet, in this case, apparently not necessary to use the DSO or even a button. For videos full screen like this, you can simply create the video overlay on the image of the button. With videos full screen, the area of overlay that you define behaves like a button "play" without you having to add explicitly one.

-Scroll effect slow pages are not completely accessible for display

We have also looked at this article and are able to reproduce the problem. As we develop a solution, we will work to get to a workaround to help you avoid this problem. We'll post here when we have some suggestions for you.

-Interactivity does not work properly in different browsers

We have experienced some problems with certain types of content in Internet Explorer. We are working on some improvements to help reduce these.

I will address the two items that you referenced separately.

    -Multi-state objects does not properly

There are some limitations with IE when it comes to the way it handles the interaction events. In this case, the layout of the content can be slightly adjusted to avoid this problem. I noticed that the positioning of several ESM is a little bit off.

For example, the "VISUALS4" MSO is supposed to appear on the fourth page (index of the #3 page). However, if you look carefully at the InDesign file, you will see at the top of the OSM superimposed on the previous page of two pixels. As layering begins on the previous page, this is how it is rendered. Most modern browsers can handle this correctly, but it affects the stacking order in a way that causes a problem with IE.

If you move all WHO the problem a few pixels to make sure that the upper part of the WHO is aligned with the top of the page, it should work properly in Internet Explorer.

-Overlay of the play button has somehow to only changed the blue outline

In reviewing the file folio for the article, it shows that the two States for the MSO play button use the same image.

    http://CDN-ContentViewer.Adobe.com/v/88e59469-94d0-4D3B-95cb-595c7d3a7944/7%20SUMMITS%20SI DEBAR/1/OverlayResources/InDesign_BNDLR_RSRC29936-633919858/Multi-state%2010_State%202_205 11_Content_L.png

I don't know what the behavior planned for this MSO. It is configured as a slide-show mode that loops between the two States, once it is clicked. Because the OSM will be covered by the video full screen, which is the desired effect? Please explain what you want to achieve and we can provide suggestions.

    -No support for overlays

On some browsers, including some versions of Internet Explorer, we support all interactive overlays. The screenshot you posted seems to be an overlay of imageSequence. This special overlay is not supported on some versions of Internet Explorer.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or encounter other problems. We will do our utmost to help.

  • Best practices for designing a view in PlayBook

    Hello world

I'm new to BlackBerry PlayBook development and I would like to know how to make a user interface appropriate for playbook, what would be the best practice to do and it will be helpful to me if someone can post sample code here

    Thanks in advance

    A few tips:

    * Views extend Sprite

    * Views should be resizable, IE have a setSize() method

    * views should 'PIN' children at some edges of the screen, from when they are resized it runs correctly.

    * a parent class must listen to the scene for Event.RESIZE and call of resizing on the view.

    * Use the component of QNX, set if possible

    * Implement native controls, like sliding down to the options

  • Best practices for client internal connectivity with Horizon view 6

    Hi all

I saw configuration with a server connection and security.  Internal clients connect directly on the connection to the authentication server, while the external clients through the Security server.  Recently, one of my friends and I had to discuss our configurations.  It has all of its traffic to the Security server.  Its installer seems to be supported by the latest diagrams in the view documentation 6.  What is the best practice?

    Thank you!

I can certainly see how this diagram is confusing, but it is intended to show the internal clients through directly load balancing to servers connection. If you look at the architecture guide and white papers, they are all show internal clients without going through the security servers.

  • Views - set at the database level or RPD?  Advantages/disadvantages/best practices

General question about the use of points of view and OBIEE. I have a handful of views that I had to set for one reason or another within our mini - DW. Initially, I set all these level database and imported in my physical layer as I would a table.

I know that OBIEE has the ability of views defined within the Phyiscal layer by specifying the SQL syntax with the VIEW type.

I'm curious to know if anyone has any ideas on the manipulation of views one way or another? :

-Do you prefer to define the points of view within the RPD to keep your logic in one place?
-Are there performance benefits with the definition of the view in the database itself?
-Are there any best practices known surrounding views with OBIEE management?

    Thanks in advance.

    K

Yes, this select statement is called view opaque. Opaque views can lead to performance problems. If your view is huge pulling data then do not create this view in the RPD.

  • What are the best practices framework OA customizations autour?

    Hello

We make many customizations in our case.

What are the best practices around customizations.

    How to document?

What is a good practice to make all the customizations by using functional Adimistrator?

    Kind regards

    Sandra

Best place for this question would be OA Framework

What are the best practices around customizations.

What do you mean by that? There is one way you can do customization. But the functionality can be achieved differently, in this case, it will be very specific in what you want to achieve.

If you reference how to do customization, such as aid of the functional administrator or go to the page and clicking in the Customize link in the page or by using the xml file and using XMLImporter, it is not really important.

If ask you questions about the migration of customization, you can either export to leave an instance and import them into another instance using functional administrator or XML importer. Or do it manually again.

The XML importer is usually easy and need less documentation from the point of view of migration.

    How to document?

If you migrate manually, could better document the steps with screenshots.

If not, document changes in the screen as well as the reference to the downloaded file customization.

What is a good practice to make all the customizations by using functional Adimistrator?

This is one of the option.   I don't see anything wrong with that.

By accessing the page could be more easily test the change.

    See you soon

  • Display the format US phone number - best practices

    JDeveloper 12.1.3

-Telephone table has field VARCHAR2 with phone numbers. All records have exactly 10 numbers (characters) length

-In the user interface, I want to show number xxx-xxx-xxxx, that is to say with af:outputText or similar device

-observe that I am looking for display, and no to entry/edit phone number

    -in search of best practices

What I did but am not satisfied:

-In the t 3 has created a transitional attributes with the default SQL string. For example:

    Phone1To3: substr (Phones.Phone, 1, 3)

    Phone4To6: substr (Phones.Phone, 4, 3)

    Phone7To10: substr (Phones.Phone, 7, 4)

Then in file jsff (the table component):

    <af:outputText value="#{row.Phone1To3}-#{row.Phone4To6}-#{row.Phone7To10}" shortDesc="#{bindings.Phones.hints.Phone.tooltip}" id="ot2222"/>

    Another way (better, easier)?

In my view, that the best practice is to do your own converter in this case you will not need transitional attributes as you did. After doing a converter, you can add this converter inside outputText inputText. .. to display the required format

To find out how a converter, you can check this url

  • Best practices for color use in Adobe CC?

    Hi all

Is there an article that describes the best practices for use of color in Adobe CC?

I produce a mixture of viewing online (PDF, for the most part) and real world print projects - often with the obligation for both. I recently updated my PANTONE + bridge books for the first time in ages and I am suddenly confused by the use of Lab colors in the Adobe Suite (Illustrator and InDesign).

Everything I found online, looks like Lab color mode preferred to use because it is device independent. And perceptual (on screen), it looks much closer to the color, it is trying to represent. But when I mark a Spot color Illustrator rectangle using laboratory coordinates, to the sides of a rectangle using PANTONE + bridge CP and then export it to PDF, the version of CP to mix CMYK color corresponds exactly to my Pantone book - while the version of laboratory (after converted to CMYK using the ink Manager) is far away.

I have this fantasy to manage only a single Illustrator or InDesign file for both worlds (PDF) printed and online. Is not possible in practice?

Any info describing the basic definitions of the color modes - or even a book tracing more than use them in the real world - would be much appreciated!

    Thank you

    Bob

Here are a few best practices you can already do.

1 make sure that your color settings are synchronized on all applications.

    2. use a CMYK profile appropriate for your print output. Lab spot colors convert to CMYK values based on the CMYK icc profile.

    3. include icc profiles when save or export pdf files

In theory, your imagination is possible today. It requires color management and the use of icc profiles. You can place RGB images in InDesign and use Pantone colors in your objects. The problem lies in the printers. If a printer uses a RIP with built in Pantone library, the colors will match when printing. Unfortunately, this kind of CUT is more expensive and not enough printers use them. Most of them is always manually approximate CMYK values composition given Pantone colors.

  • Best practices for handling logic conditional dialogue/popup in the ADF?

    Here's the scenario:

I have a page that shows a popup programmatically in a method of bean support. The popup asking the user a yes / no question and subsequent logical path is determined by their response. However, if the popup is visible or not in the first place is conditional. In addition, there is an additional logic in the original method, apart from the logic of popup, that must be met.

The problem with this is that the ADF seems to spin off the popup in another thread and prevents the execution of logic in the original method at the same time, while you wait for the response from the user. However, the desired effect is that the program stops until the user has answered the question in the context menu.

I was not able to understand in an elegant way to make this happen. Ideally, I think that the solution is to encapsulate the logic that occurs after the popup is displayed (or not shown) in the original method and call it from the popup action listener if the popup is displayed (if not call it the original method of). However, the logic should be encapsulated requires the use of some local variables that have been put forward for the popup to appear. There is no way to get these values to the popup action listener method to pass them on to the encapsulated logic (aside from the creation of global static variables in the bean, which seems to be a bad solution).

Another idea I had was to get the logic ' show/do not see the popup' workflow. However, it seems that for every single popup would make the really complicated workflow.

Is there a 'best practice' recommended to handle this situation? It must be a common problem, and it seems that I will talk all wrong.

However, the desired effect is that the program stops until the user has answered the question in the context menu.

This will not happen in any web environment, including ADF.

You will have different events for each life cycle:

1 - opening popup: popupFetchListener event

2 - Click on OK, Cancel buttons: DialogListener event

3 - Press the Esc button: popupCancelledEvent

You can share data between these events on pageFlowScope, or viewScope.

But if you use the ADF BC, you might be better to use transient attributes on the objects in view.

  • Dimension design best practices

    Hello

I'm about to start a new project!

Do you have ideas on best practices to define dimensions? A presentation or conference will help.

I ask this question because it's kind of a mix between an art and a science.

And the current metadata provided seems to have redundancy on their GL segments.

I don't want to go and map each segment in each dimension, I think it would be counterproductive.

    Thank you for your comments

    Concerning

You may be able to get some advice from the technical point of view by searching online or via the database administrator's guide.

If you want to get this from the functional point of view, you will need professional help. The design will depend entirely on what are the needs of your business.

Only thing I can say is ESSBASE and planning analytical solutions type applications so we shouldn't try to bring in great detail it is there is transactional system.

  • Fabric zoning best practices (new FC)

I'm new to CF (we are an iSCSI store), but I'm learning to my DCD. I read on different blog posts on zoning, which on the whole I think logical. I came across this blog post and am a little confused by the diagram:

    http://vmfocus.com/2012/05/31/fabric-zoning-best-practices/

If you look at the chart it is logical, but higher than that, look at the text:

    http://vmfocus.files.WordPress.com/2012/05/capture.PNG

    E1 to S1 via Fabric Switch 1

    E1 to S3 via Fabric Switch 2

    E2 to S2 switch fabric 1

    E2 to S4 via Fabric Switch 2

    Via Fabric Switch S1 E3 1

    E3 to S3 via Fabric Switch 2

    E4 in the S2 switch fabric 1

    E4 to S4 via Fabric Switch 2

How can connect to the same physical port on the HBA to switch 2? Is the text in the wrong article? I presume to know more than any zoning CF topic but I do not see how E1 can be plugged in more than one switch.

    Totally confused...

  • Best practices of size font

When determining the size of the basic content in a web page fonts, what is now considered best practices with regard to the definition of the font sizes in the CSS stylesheet?    Wouldn't be a specific size (e.g. 12 pt), or a percentage or em?  Just curious as to what is a common practice today because I remodel a previous website.  TKS.

You can set pretty much your policy as you seem. If it is too small, your viewer increases just the size in their browser.

For this reason, make sure that you stay away from the heights of css layout text containers. That can quickly cause enlarged extend beyond the container and blow out the design of the text (text goes out of its container) and the readability (text fields overlap) of your site.

PT is a measure of printing, do not use it. Online you should use em (default is usually 16 pixels per 1 EM) or rem (although DW cannot support as currently in Design view). CSS units
