View of the limitations of Clients for CPU

I start a POC VDI for a small group of users (8), to keep my costs low I used an old host ESX (3 years previously used to manage servers from 15-20) which has 2 processors and 4 processor cores each, the machine has 48 GB RAM 1 TB of raid 5 storage, disk are new 15 k disks and local storage of the POC...

We have installed required using 3 CPU virtual server components.

We have created an optimized image windows 7 through the composer and created the pool etc. The comments from the engineer is I can only support 5 clients because I have only 5 virtual CPU left (4 cores * 2-3).

I have, that it is true because it does not correct sewing, I expect have the support of many connections and performance would just reduce, has no physical limit based on processor?

Some may contribute to explain to find out why he could say this?

Thank you

Hello

Most consultants recommend usually 7 or so Office VM per processor, so you would be able to have many more users than 5! Everything is obviously depends on the workload of each virtual desktop. If it's just the Office applications and Internet browsing may 10 VM of by heart. Memory is a factor greater than the power of the processor just be aware that if your Win7 workstations have 3 or 4 GB each you will find soon you hit this ceiling of 48 GB RAM, even with transparent page sharing.

The common practice is to use Win7 x 86 instead of x 64 and it is lighter on the memory usage.

• Solution for the limitation of catalyst for this project page?

Hello

I am new to the catalyst, so I just found out the limitation of 20 page. This is the page I was working on that. When I click on the squares including the name of the artist on I want the relevant place to take the place of the square. Later I'll add the biography of artists next to the main square (where the empty space) that will change with each artist.

What I did was create a new page for each artist duplicate, changing the page accordingly, and then linking the button to the corresponding page. The problem came when I hit the threshold of 20 pages, because there are 24 artists. What can I do to make this work? I've read about custom components with many States, but if I do the page custom component then I can't use the little squares like buttons. I'm not a very technical person, so if anyone knows a good solution in simple terms I would really appreciate it.

Thank you very much.

Screen shot 2011-08-03 at 19.48.39.png

Hello

Not an expert at all, but have used components to get around the limit of 20 pages. Here's what I'd do:

Make 2 custom components, each with 12 pages. The small squares that will be that your buttons will be NOT part of a component, they need stay outside. Only the large square and the text will go on each page of the components. When you add the interaction of each button, you will see a list of all 24 pages, 2 separate groups.

I hope that I have explained this properly! Good luck!

• View of the horizon - cmd Powershell for Description

Hello

Currently using:

5.2.0 build-987719

I had success by using the Get-DesktopVM and Get-pool for PowerShell cmdlets. There is a cmdlet that will reveal the "Description" field that I can enter the pools on VM Admin view? For example, if you navigate away from the Admin of VM window > inventory > pools > < poolID > is a Description field where we have notes on the pool. I would like to retrieve this info so I can use it for further processing in additional systems.

Please let me know if you need more information. Is attached a screenshot of the computer virtual Admin window and the area I'm worried.

Too bad

The description field was actually available under Get-Pool.

• Need help on the limits of understanding for extended documents

Help! I work for a University and our academic advisor service includes academic worksheets that show all the required courses for each major. We strive to create spreadsheets in the forms, however, not all of our advisors have Acrobat Pro (they drive IX). Adobe support says that there are limitations in the number of copies of forms that are deployed and the number of recipients (500 limit for each). Advisors will enter our shared drive to access spreadsheets to fill and fill them for students facing us. We will then use the submit button that attaches the completed worksheet to our e-mail. We will then send the attachment to the student and save a copy in our repository of documents, Image now. When students return a date each semester, recover us the file from the repository of documents and to update and re - send the student and save it again in the repository. We are concerned that we run a problem with the number of times that we can do. The limit of 500 'deployment' and beneficiaries applies in this case of what we are trying to do?

For Acrobat Reader XI you need not drive to extend forms.

• Microsoft client for networks works not

I had trouble to connect to other machines through recent programs. He began by trying to access a PowerPivot file that told me that I had no access to the data for some pages on our server .xml, but I can open the page directly through my browser and I can even connect to the server itself without problem. I traced the problem down to my Client for Microsoft networks. I'm on the same network as all computers in our area, but I am not connected to the domain itself. I tried connected to the domain, but when I look at my options, the option to connect to the field is grayed out (I am logged on as an administrator account on my local computer). When I go into the properties of my network, I can't access the properties for the Client for Microsoft networks. I tried uninstalling the Client for Microsoft networks and put it back, without success. I tried to uninstall my network drivers and resettlement without a bit of luck. I have a feeling that the files of Client for Microsoft networks have become corrupt (I think they are the .inf files. Can I get a confirmation on that? and if it's true, no matter where I can download new ones for Windows 7 replace the 'old'?).

I'm not too sure if anyone has any ideas... This seems to be a problem with Windows XP and 98 after doing some research. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you guys!

• waiting for CPU and cpu ready

Hello

We have very high CPU wait times on our virtual machines (19000ms).

We have also very low cpu ready time (20ms)

I did notice on one of the 2 networks performance issues

I was hoping someone could give, in terms laymans terms, a definition of waiting for cpu and cpu ready. The technical definitions I've seen online were not very clear to me.

Also - who would be initially high such a timeout of the CPU on the virtual machines? It seems to be that the same time limit on all the VMs on the server whether or not they have 1 vcpu and memory 2 or how much they were awarded.

Info about our server:

HP Proliant ML350G6

CPU cores: 4CPus x 2,555 GHz

Processor type: Intel Xeon processor x 5550 @ 2.67 Ghz

processor socets 1:

Logical processors: 8

Hyperthreading: assets

No vm: 33 (especially Server 2003 Server VM)

Enjoying any assistance.

Kind regards

Simon

CPU wait time is the time a virtual machine did get on demand, but the processor has

Nothing in the process and so the CPU to simply waiting for then the time scheduled for the virtual

machine clicks by.

CPU Ready is the time that the virtual machine is ready, but could not get scheduled to run on the physical processor.

Bascially ready cpu the prompt is queued on the host computer, waiting for cpu means that the host is queued on the prompt.

It makes no difference.

I noticed that none of the guests accept the settings below (However, I suspect that the limitation is in fact with the guests of CPU!).

Consumer versions of Windows won't make use of more than two takes. The virtual machine should work correctly, but you two completely inactive vCPUs.

(2) with regard to the "Preferred Mode" setting under "virtualization engine" section is each any merit using one setting other than "auto"? Assuming that there is a preferred mode, so what's the preferred mode for my host CPU?

The automatic setting is intended to be the most powerful. However, in some cases, it is not. For modern Windows clients on your CPU, the Auto selection will be Intel VT-x/EPT. While EFA (extended page tables) provides the best performance for most workloads, it suffers from a large fine of TLB miss. If your workload is a TLB (e.g. specjbb) buster, so you might get better performance without EPT. Binary translation can be a victory for some workloads on 32-bit Windows XP, due to frequent bouts of TPR.

(3) what is the effect of tick "disable acceleration for binary translation"?

Normally, the binary translation only applies to the kernel code and user code runs directly on the processor. If you disable acceleration for binary translation, all the code will be run using the binary translation. The result will usually be catastrophic performance. Why would you do? Due to the nature of binary translation, some things aren't quite reason code user running directly on the processor-level. If your applications are particularly sensitive to these differences to run natively, you may need to disable acceleration if you want to use the binary translation. On hardware that supports Intel VT - x, hardware-assisted virtualization is usually a better option than VT without acceleration.

• Request concerning the sequence of updates for the Windows Update client in 2015

I posted a query similar to this on a Microsoft Technet forum, but I have not yet received a response to the specific question that I asked. I'm trying so this forum.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, but I did not intend to accept the free update of Windows 10. I don't use automatic updates. I use Windows Update manually and select the updates to install, even for these updates identified as Important.

Since April 2015, there was a sequence of updates for the client Windows Update on Windows 7 (Windows 8). I have the Windows 7 of those below list:

KB2990214 (April 2015)

KB3050265 (June 2015)

KB3065987 (July 2015)

KB3075851 (August 2015)

KB3083324 (September 2015)

KB3083710 (October 2015)

KB3102810 (November 2015)

KB3112343 (December 2015)

(This list is probably less intimidating than it looks because the replaced October update Update September, which replaced the August update, which replaced the July update, which replaced the June updated. "There are therefore basically just 4 updates.)

The big question is, given that Windows 7 is available for several years, why, all of a sudden, there was this sequence of updates for the Windows Update client? Because these updates began to occur at the time when the offer of a free upgrade to Windows 10 was announced, I could be forgiven for thinking that all of these updates are really directed towards the relaxation of the upgrade to Windows 10 via Windows Update, and that there is little or no advantage to systems that are not upgrading. I am mistaken in this belief? If not, precisely those who will benefit from my system, even if it is not upgraded to Windows 10?

The updates that I currently installed, depending on the installed updates, are KB2990214 (April 2015), KB3075851 (August 2015), KB3083324 (September 2015) and KB3083710 (October 2015).

In my view, there was a lack of transparency in the descriptions of these updates in the KB articles. And, in one or two cases, information on the importance of an update in the article and in Windows Update has been inconsistent. It would have been much clearer if each KB article stated for NOT upgrading to Windows 10 systems, if the update to the Windows Update client is important, as an option or completely irrelevant.

• Fill out the "limits" for nodes in a hierarchical query

Hello

I have a table called V that is organized hierarchically. You can have a "hierarchical" view by issuing the following query (PARENT_ID NULL is the root):

SELECT rn,
LPAD ('_ ', 2 * (LEVEL - 1), '_ ') || id tree,
id,
parent_id,
lvl,
cbi,
tree_lft,
tree_rgt,
tl,
tr
FROM v
START WITH parent_id IS NULL
CONNECT BY PRIOR id = parent_id
ORDER SIBLINGS BY rn;

Now, my task is to fill in the TL and TR "limits" that define the beginning and end of each group under all nodes.

For a better understanding, I've already placed the expected results in the TREE_LFT and TREE_RGT columns. The hierarchy follows the order of the columns, RN.

TREE_LFT begins with the root (RN = 1) line 1 and lights up gradually until it reaches the leaves (CBI = 1). If a sheet is found, TREE_RGT is set to + 1 TREE_LFT.

Then, if another sheet follows (online RN = 4), it takes the next increment TREE_LFT + 1. And so on. When all the leaves under the node assigned a value for TREE_LFT and TREE_RGT,

the TREE_RGT value for the node takes the last value assigned to its + 1 children. For example, you can see that the children of the node id = 14 come from RN = RN = 30 3. The value of TREE_RGT

for the last child (RN = 30) is 58, so the TREE_RGT value for the node id = 14 will be 58 + 1 = 59.

Then the numbering continues gradually for the rest of the hierarchy. There is a new node to RN = 31, so TREE_LFT starts from TREE_RGT of the previous node + 1, that is, 60.

This logic continues until the end of the hierarchy following RN.

Using a STANDARD clause, I've managed to fill TL (you can see TL = TREE_LFT) and TR for the leaves.

I also managed to complete the TR for nonleaf with a second MODEL clause, but it runs very bad when the array is much more filled than that.

This is the STANDARD clause that allows you to calculate the TR:

select *
from v
model
dimension by (id, parent_id, cbi)
measures (rn, tree_lft, tree_rgt, lvl, tl, tr)
rules (
tr[ANY, ANY, 0] order by lvl desc, id, parent_id = max(tr)[ANY, CV(id), ANY] + 1
)
;

It does the job as expected, but the generic as well as ordered rule is a killer when it is applied to a larger painting.

So my question is, is there a way I can write a query that would do the same as this one, but with better performance (functions analytical pattern)?

I know that I can not really clear that it is not easy to explain.

I use a database with 11.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition.

Thank you

Here are the scripts to test:

create table v (RN NUMBER, NUMBER identification, PARENT_ID NUMBER, TREE_LFT NUMBER, TREE_RGT NUMBER, CBI NUMBER, NUMBER of LVL, TL NUMBER, NUMBER of TR);

Hi Greg,.

It looks like you use the defined nested data model.

See solutions mentioned above:

• Web client - System Configuration node displays 'Unknown' for the Uptime and the workload, no value for IP & Hostname

When I connect on our vCenter 6 Update 1 device (embedded PSC) via the Web Client with integrated Active Directory ID, select "System Configuration", then select the node for vCenter, summary screen displays all the information IP or host name. In addition, the status of availability and workload for storage/memory/swap/load of work view all 'unknown '. See attached photo for reference.

All values under management-> settings are also empty.

When I login with [email protected], all the above values are displayed and I can change the settings of the device of vCenter as expected. This made me suspect a permission problem exists, but I cannot know what SSO group to add our AD is less to enable management or control of the aircraft from vCenter for that it works as expected.

Already tried to add our accounts to the following groups in SSO under the vsphere.local domain:

DCAdmins

SystemConfiguration.Administrators

ComponentManager.Administrators

Directors

This information on the purpose of each group unfortunately did not help me understand which could apply:

Groups in the field of vsphere.local

Thank you very much for the help!

I just did some digging on this myself (we deployed now U2 6.0) after I tried the same things (adding AD users in the SSO domain groups, etc. etc.) without success.

What I have found is that it is simply a WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM with 6.0 U2 and maybe they'll fix with U3 6.0 when that comes out (later this summer)? Maybe it'll be 6.5 at that time, with an announcement to the VMworld 2016 or something - who knows.

The workaround is a joke--suggesting the deployment using only the SSO domain by default. Well, which is never going to happen naturally, so he says as a workaround is, if you really need to get and display status, etc. from the web client, you simply connect with your [email protected] account that was created at the initial time of installation.

Connect to the instance of vCenter server in the vCenter Server Appliance with a user who is located in a custom name (different from the default vsphere.local) Single Sign-On the field by using the Web Client vSphere. On the vSphere Web Client home page, click on the System Configuration and select nodesunder the System Configuration. If you try to change the settings, restart or power off a node of the vCenter Server Appliance, the operation fails with one of the following errors: An internal error has occurred - Error # 1009 and Not authorized to use this API . If you click on the summary, monitoror Manage tabs, some device information cannot be displayed.

Workaround: deploy the vCenter Server Appliance by using the domain of Single Sign-On by default: vsphere.local.

• Very slow view using OS x client for Windows 8 RDP

I'm having a problem of strange performance to help the customer to view for OSX and connecting to a remote desktop in Windows 8. I'm the last side connections to the same remote workstations using a windows on the excellent work of the RDP client and client and server versions. No performance problems. I'm a bit at a loss as to what could be the issue.

Context menus in Office remote work quickly but running programs, opening and closing of windows, etc. is very slow. No conflicts or hogging on the remote system, nor the client resources. All connections PCOIP or RDP sessions to other workstations (which are all Windows 7) work perfectly without any problems. Any help in troubleshooting is appreciated.

Hello

When connecting to the remote with the Protocol RDP of Mac View Client Desktop, it will use the image of high quality as a default value for the connection of the DRC. MS RDC app is a very old application, there is no new version for so long and there are no updates to improve the performance of this specific to the new Windows operating system (Win8/8.1/2012). Perhaps the reason for the performance on Windows 8 with the DRC issue.

If you are using the RDP protocol client Mac view, please change display settings for the Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) first app. And then reconnect directly remote desktop via IP (without customer view) to check if the performance is somewhat improved.

Menu at the top of the app DRC: DRC-> preferences-> display

Try to change some parameters like the attached screenshot shown.

If it works, you can replace the template file RDP for the Mac View Client app with steps below:

1. download the attached template file ' vmware - view.rdp.

2. copy and replace the file in the Applications/VMware view Horizon Client/Contents/Resources/vmware-view.rdp

3. exit view Mac Client app

4 restart Mac View Client and connect to Windows 8 desktop via RDP Protocol

Thank you.
