View of the horizon - cmd Powershell for Description

Hello

Currently using:

5.2.0 build-987719

I had success by using the Get-DesktopVM and Get-pool for PowerShell cmdlets.  There is a cmdlet that will reveal the "Description" field that I can enter the pools on VM Admin view?  For example, if you navigate away from the Admin of VM window > inventory > pools > < poolID > is a Description field where we have notes on the pool.  I would like to retrieve this info so I can use it for further processing in additional systems.

Please let me know if you need more information.  Is attached a screenshot of the computer virtual Admin window and the area I'm worried.

Too bad

The description field was actually available under Get-Pool.

  • View of the horizon 6 - customer zero can't see RDS Deskstop

    Hello!

We have been in view for several years.  I just deployed a Desktop of RDS.  If I connect to the server from view with the client software from view of the Horizon, I see the desktop as an option, as well as other items of work to which I have the right.  However, when I connect to the server with a Client light Wyse zero (P20s and P25s), I can see other automated and manual office pools, but the RDS Desktop pool is not listed.

This configuration is not supported?  Is there a parameter required to allow connects to RDS Desktops?

    Thank you very much!

    Update:

    I found this article:https://techsupport.teradici.com/link/portal/15134/15164/Article/2479/Do-PCoIP-zero-clients-support-Microsoft-Remote-Desktop-Services-15134-2479

After that I updated one of the clients Tera2 zero to 4.7, I was able to connect to the RDS office pool.

I'm glad to hear that you figured it out.  Can you mark this issue as resolved?

  • View of the horizon 3.5.0 and ThinApp v4.7 with Cisco ASA Smart Tunnel 9.3.3

    Hello

    The problem:

Our technology smart tunnel doesn't seem to be forward traffic to our new customer from the view.  I wonder what kind of configuration changes must be considered to enable such a connection.  The error returned when searching for the host name goes in the direction of the hostname not found.  Error finding of intellectual property is related to the time-out.

    Background information and specifications:

We are in the process of upgrading our servers from 5.2 to 6.2 connection.  As part of the upgrade, we want to improve our customers for the Horizon to use version 3.5.0.  To make it easier on vendors and remote computers we prefer also to our Horizon View Client with ThinApp 4.7.3 ThinApp.  We currently have a Cisco ASA, supporting a SSL VPN portal with "Smart Tunnel" technology.  The ASA is currently on firmware 9.3.3 in production, but we have access to version 9.5 in test.

    Preferred connection scenario:

User > PC > VMware View Client (ThinApp would be) > Cisco ASA Smart Tunnel > view connection server > Virtual Office

.exe running on the client to view ThinApp:

It seems the ThinApp Client version view is only launching VMware - view.exe.

.exe running from the customer view full/thickness:

    VMware - view.exe

    -ftnlsv.exe

    -vmwsprrdpwks.exe

    -ftscanmgr.exe

There is something else to consider when the view client configuration ThinApp or thickness to work with Cisco SSL VPN Portal and the Smart Tunnel?  We should have ports configured in the client in connection with the same view Firewall works with SSL VPN Portal port redirector functionality.

We have not been able to find any documentation on how to properly configure the smart to work with the New Horizon 3.5.2 client Tunnel.  A ticket of troubleshooting with Cisco suggests that the Smart Tunnel feature still perhaps not compatible with this new Horizon (thin or thick) client.  Currently, we are looking at other options because it is not not clear whether Cisco will be able to get us the confirmation or offer a solution without delay of our project to upgrade.  Maybe stick to the previous VMware View Client version 5.4.0 which we know work with Smart Tunnel in some situations and with the redirector port for others.

    What di I do?

    Best regards

As often occurs when the wrong VGA driver is installed.  This occurs when the view Agent is installed on the desktop, and then the VMware Tools is updated after the fact.  The result is the driver included with the Agent to view VGA is replaced with the VGA driver in VMware Tools.  You can see some advantages to the relocation of the Agent of the view, or update the VMware Tools and then install the Agent from the view.

  • View of the horizon 5.3 Exchange at the level of the Office/Lync bits

    Hello

I know there are a lot of discussions on the mismatch between levels bits for deployments of VMware View Horizon in combination with Lync 2013

AFAIK the bits of the customer level Lync must match the number of bits OS.

    Thus, for example:

On the virtual machine: needs of Windows 7 SP1 64 bit 64 bit (including the lync client) Office 2013

but for my situation, I want to use the 2013 32-bit office.

The research on the internet and I found this:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2064266

If I understand correctly, it seems that you most use the 64-bit office (lync client) when you are VM OS is 64-bit.

    I don't understand?

I love working at this situation "supported":

    VM:

    Windows 7 SP1 64 bit

2013 office (including the lync client) 32-bit

Bit of agent 5.3 64 view horizon

    Client:

    10ZiG computer Thinclient Windows 8 embedded 32-bit

32 bits of Lync VDI plugin

    Customer view horizon (later, 32-bit)

Looks like it is supported to 5.3 on?

You are right.  With view 5.3, the bits client Lync 2013 level didn't match the level of the bits of the VM operating system.

  • View of the Horizon from VMware and Microsoft Lync 2013

    Hello

I am currently working on a VMware View Horizon project and the cap of the great exhibition is Microsoft Lync 2013. I had the matching between the vdi Lync plugin and the Lync client in the virtual office to work. During the process of matching the right icon indicates the attempt of local loading audio or video devices. When I connect a USB headset it detects and when I perform a test call, I hear only noise and not a good tone. Can I use only Lync support audio or video devices or it can be any USB device? I also mentioned the details of the current configuration of VMware View Horizon.

Overview of VMware View: version 5.2.0 - 987719

  • View of the horizon 6.2, 3.5 see Client and Windows 10

    Hi all

I did an in place upgrade of Horizon view 6.2 over the weekend and have been very satisfied the performance and features.  However, I have a bit of a problem with Windows 10 company.  The VDI desktop resize not balance not as expected.  It seems that whatever the Windows 10 Office is set in vSphere, seems to stay when connecting with the customer to view.

I had this problem for Horizon 6.1.1 with the 3.4 customer, but not a not sweat until this recent publication.

I wanted to remove my image of Windows 10 company as being the culprit, so I installed a new version of Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit with the latest tools from VMware View Agent and the problem persists.

I'm under 6.0.0.b and ESXi 6 vCenter with the latest patches.  I can validate the scale/resize screen problem occurs on multiple endpoints, so I don't think the problem is with the endpoint device and the client.

    Any ideas?

It's 3D acceleration.  Turned off, power off/on VM and everything works as expected.  (SVGA/NVIDIA) 3D acceleration is not supported in Windows 10?

  • View of the horizon 6 without Active Directory

    Hello

I have a Setup with 2 ESXi servers and stand-alone server with Win 2012 and here's installed vCenter.

I need to install 6 view Horizon for workstation 5 only, and I have not installed the Windows domain and Active Directory.

    How can I install Horizon?

I read that a prerequisite is AD.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you

You could install the Direct Connect agent instead, which does not require an announcement but you won't be able to do any brokerage.

  • Two view of the Horizon, active sites: that load swing and what on user profiles?

    Hi all

I have two questions about an active Horizon view deployment.

I want to deploy two deployments of Horizon view separate in two places, 400 users in total. Users will have a privileged place in which they use a virtual office (all stateless desktop computers). When the preferential site is unavailable the user should automatically directed to 'other '.

What load balancer is able to do this?

    • The load balancer must be able to direct users to their favorite site.
    • a single point of entry tot the environment view should be used at all times, for example view.mydomain.com

How can I get replicated user profiles?

    • In the case of a site failure the user profile must be available on the second site without staff intervention.
    • I was considering Microsoft DFS, but if I understand correctly DFS replication of user profiles is not supported?

    Thank you

    Jacques.

F5:s is most commonly used in these scenarios, take a look on the "always on reference Architecture" of VMware.

  • View of the horizon 5.2 - serial Port in use

We are deploying a new environment of VDI, using Horizon view 5.2.  All VDI OS are Windows 7 Pro. We have a USB printer that is connected to the thin client and redirects the USB port to use COM2 on the Windows operating system.  Our software told us that COM1 and COM2 are already used by the operating system.  No idea what could be using these ports, and if there is a way to release COM2 so is available?

    Thank you!

Stone, this problem has been resolved.  I'll post the exact steps I used in the thread: https://communities.vmware.com/message/2322994#2322994

Thank you for your help to fix this.

We have been shipping for more than five years and I worked in the poster for over 6 years and we always need AD. He was always a notation of the AD requirements in the docs since its need to work things out.

In the getting started guide, the first step is preparing your ad. It connects to this section of the Installation Guide in the docs.

VMware View 5.2 Documentation Library (To prepare your Active Directory)

It says here view uses Active Directory and some steps need to be done. It also indicates the AD supported versions.

    Hello

I have recently updated our login servers and security to view Horizon 5.2 and I see the option to enable HTML5 pool access, but it indicates that an office feature pack must be installed.  I was not able to find this "feature pack" anywhere.  I've been through the administrative guide for 5.2 and it really do anything don't speak HTML access.

Can someone point me in the right direction so I can start to do some tests with HTML5 access to desktop from view?

    Thank you!

According to the notes of https://www.vmware.com/support/view52/doc/horizon-view-52-release-notes.htmlversion:

These components will be available shortly after the general availability of VMware View Horizon 5.2 and may subject to availability of the app in various application stores mobile device.

I feel your pain, I was really looking forward to test access HTML 5.

  • With both internal customers and external view of the Horizon, I do * have * to have at least a connection to the server by type of connection?

If I want both external and non - VPN and LAN users internal to access desktops from view, I need to have a connection to the server dedicated to external users and another for internal? Right now I have one pair of Security Server-connection to the server and external connections work fine, but the internal connections are not. I have to get up at least a connection replication server and change the URL HTTPS Secure Tunnel for internal users only?

Apparently, you don't need a connection to the server dedicated to internal users if you also external users and a security server. I found this during my troubleshooting. The URL of security server will be configured as administrator mode that external URL can be resolved and accessible while the URL to connect to the server will be configured with a URL can be resolved internally and is accessible in administrator mode.
