  The migration went smooth without error (I followed the vmware 7960893 kb). I changed the dsn system on the new server name.

  But when I try to start the virtual Center service that it fails.

  It's easy... as soon as your database goes down, Virtual Centre will drop.

  -What are the activities I'm *NOT* not be able to perform in virtual Center

  Virtually everything as deploy from models, vmotion, storage vmotion, user access through virtual center, backup solutions environment through virtual center management will not work until that recover you or re-create virtual venter and reattach the hosts.

  Basically things like high availability will work, you will be capable of powering the virtual computer (by connecting directly to the esx host) and to stop (as long as your license server is online). Your VM will also continue to funcrtion normally while the VC is in offline mode.

• Update Manager and the configuration of Virtual Center database = 1 database or the database even?

  We have a small environment VMware - 2-3 hosts, only 5-6 virtual machines for now, perhaps upward at 10-12 during the 2009 year.

  I looked at VUM and VC sizing spreadsheets and it seems I can do VC and Crossover work of SQL Express 2005 for 1-3 years, I need patch storage etc. and know that I may need to upgrade.

  VC and VUM facilities create their own separate databases or they are combined to form 1 data base?

  Or I would be better to buy 1 license Standard SQL with the 10 Cal instead? (I know that this would put the scale easily.)

  If you let the VC and VUM installers create the databases on the instance of SQL SERVER 2005 Express (named SQLEXP_VIM), it will create separate databases for each (VIM_VCDB for vCenter) and VIM_UMDB for the Update Manager. It is possible to have both of them use the same database, if you need to specify the database and ODBC settings in the installer.

  Since TestStand 4.1 does not Log check box, you can add the parameter to the report using the additional results feature. To do this, you will need to click on the Properties tab of the settings for your step step and navigate to the additional results pane. From there, you can select the settings to include.

  Note that as I mentioned in my first post, on the Module tab where you can see the settings, you need to keep the waveform in a location (for example, a local variable) in order to be registered. It is a known problem with your version of TestStand.

  I hope that helps clear things up - if not, please let me know what version of LabVIEW, you use, and I'm going to create a simple example and post it for you.

• cannot select a mapped drive on select the database window

  I use virtual XP mode in Windows 7.    Under XP, I am able to map a drive G: that comes from Win 7 mapped drive (Microsoft Terminal Services).  Great, in Explorer, you can see the mapped drive.  I need to set up an ODBC connection to a database on this disc.  No problem, I thought.  When I need to select a drive in the select the database window, I do not see this drive only A:, C:, D:, the default value for readers, G: is not displayed.

  Is this a bug or is this normal?  I did something wrong?

  I finally solved it.

  I've got a hold of our network knowledgeble person and have been able to connect a network drive.  It was enough to format another/prefix in the login window.  Then I set up an ODBC for the Access database.

  It seems that virtual XP does not meet tsclient, so had to use windows normal mapping.

  Really, neither.   If you talk about the broad company EM Cloud Control (12 or 13), it requires adequate resources and must be installed on a server, no cell phones.  Unless you are looking just to play - you can then consult the virtual images available Oracle VM Templates.   It has also not recommended to run it on the same servers that you are monitoring.

  How many targets you track / manage with the system?  If it is a unique environment, the Express EM version may be bettter, where you boot agent on the database server and manage most of the functions of the server.   If you have more than one or two databases, Cloud Control is the best, but it requires little equipment.   It is a question of pure database. Not much relationship to the EBS.

  Anyway, as stated in the warning, you must add a temporary file in the tablespace TEMP3 or drop the tablespace if you do not need.

  Can you post the full alerts log part, which takes 10 to 15 minutes?

  1. If it worked for a while after the change of ip address

  3. make sure your journal alerts, what it says? information about the error?

  2. first thing ipadress sequenced in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora on primary and standby
