  • problem of machine virtual 64-bit

    Hello

In my company, we have 3 HP Elitebook 8560w with Windows 7 Enterprise installed.

We installed Vmware workstation and you have installed Ubuntu 32-bit and 64-bit virtual machines.

The 64-bit virtual machine however gives a problem.

Sometimes it will start, sometimes not. I downloaded the havdetectiontool.exe from the microsoft site. After a system restart the diagnosis of the tool is the first image below.

Now you will probably tell me that I need to enable something in the bios, but what happens if I force the HP to sleep and then wake up again. After you run the tool now, look at what he says (2nd image). The virtual machine will now start very well.

The version of the BIOS on this computer is HP 68SVD worm F.22, 05.01.2012.

Question is: is this a bios issue or what?

I solved it. Somehow the sleep of the PC feature sometimes allows virtualization, wrong leads us to believe that nothing was to be done in the BIOS.

The "Virtualization Technology" checkbox is turned off in the BIOS on HP computers apparently by default. Somehow the 32-bit Virtual Machines are not affected by this piece, but 64-bit VMS are :-)

  • Why my 4530 ProBook s (64-bit) does not have a virtual 64-bit machine?

I have a new ProBook 4530 s and it seems to be an email from HP support for it yet...

I'm in a seminar of the Technical Conference and we are supposed to install a virtual machine under VMWare image.

This system is 64-bit and it is running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro, but when I try to start the virtual machine it gives an error-

"Virtualization software is incompatible with the long mode on this platform. Long mode off. "The virtual machine image

    does not start.

The VMWare help page says that the problem may be with BIOS. Any help?

Had is actually * two * place.

I changed in the Configuration of the device, rebooted, still no joy.

Is returned in the BIOS, searched and found a changed if framework in terms of safety, from the view to change.

    Restarted, it works!

    Thank you!

  • "Error: failed to get the IP address of the destination virtual machine running the converter to assistance server." with a static IP address

    Hi all

I'm trying to p2v linux 6.4. It fails with the following message is displayed:

Error: Cannot get the IP address of the virtual destination machine running the converter assistance server.

I have seen discussions on this message, but they all refer to dynamic IP address, taken from DHCP, as in my case, I use static IP address.

In the meantime the p2v (which then breaks down...) I open console support machine and saw a message:

eth0 is not a recognized interface.

Can someone tell me what is happening?

    Hello

I assume you are using converter 5.5. There is a new feature that allows the selection of the network card. However, it works well in the case of Linux P2V. If you have changed the type of adapter, use 'e1000' or 'auto' and try again.

  • Machine virtual 32-bit on 64-bit host

I moved a windows 2003 32-bit computer to a 64-bit host. I would like to upgrade the virtual machine to Windows 2008 R2, is anyway that I can do the virtual machine 64-bit?

The host is running ESXi 5.

    Hello

Not a limitation of vmware as such in this case, rather a cross-microsoft architecture upgrades are not supported

    See - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979563(v=ws.10).aspx

This would be the case with any hypervisor

  • Receive error message when converting 5.1 VSphere virtual machine using VMWare Converter

I am moving some Virtual Machines out of my server for VSphere, using VMWare Converter. When I select the source of success and the machine then I get a "failed to get hardware information for the selected computer". I tried two different machines. One is a Windows 7 and the other is a Windows Server 2003. The end of the game is to move them to a server with only VMWare Workstation.

The research I've seen some users corrected it by changing the OS of the VM, but that did not help me. I have attached the diagnostic logs. Any help is appreciated.

You must use the latest version of Converter 5.0.1 - 5.0 does not work

  • Save an ESXi 4.0 virtual using the VCenter Converter Standalone

I'm having a 'moment' here because it's been a while since I've done it.

I have a Windows Server 2008 virtual machine running on ESXI 4.1. I want to make a one-time backup of the virtual. It's a Terminal Server I don't need of daily backups, etc.

I have it in mind that I can do this with the VCenter Converter Standalone. I downloaded and installed version 5 of this.

When I tried to communicate with the virtual virtual "Machine VMWare Infrastructure" using the converter drop-down I get this:

Unable to reach the specified host 192.168.254.154. The host may not be available... or management on this host services do not react.

The IP address is correct. Am I missing something here? Management services? I put the VM converter on this virtual server Client?

The goal is to get the hard local machine in order to restore it in case of failure.

    Thank you very much.

    Mike Gallery

you will need to have comments turned off for export as OVF, but you don't need to use the converter.

Also, in the future, if you use the converter and a source of 'VMware Infrastructure virtual machine', the virtual machine must thus put off.

.. .and to return the FVO in your inventory... File - deploy OVF

  • Longmode required to run the machine virtual 64-bit - ESXi5

I have a PC with processor i3 intel VT and Intel 64-bit enable in the BIOS. In addition to this, I installed windows 7 64-bit ultimate and then installed Vmware workstation 7.

On this woekstation, I installed ESXi5 without any problems and when I connect to VI cline tof ESXi5 and when I tried to create 64 bit VM, it gives me an error like below, when you start the virtual machine.

This virtual computer is configured for 64-bit guest operating system. However, 64-bit performance is not possible. Longmode is disable for this virtual machine.

Please find attached snapshot of the configuration of the virtual machine and error.

I'm 100% sure that Intel VT is enabled in the BIOS.

    Please help on this.

    Kind regards

    Selim Desai

If you are wanting to run nested 64 bit guests then the basic hypervisor has to ESXi 5 / 8 Workstation or Fusion 4.  For nested 32-bit clients is not the case.

  • Cannot change the size of the virtual disk in a converted VM

Hi, I have converted many physical machines into virtual machines using the VM converter. All off them were converted using the minimum for their HDs size so that the conversion process minutes last as little as possible. Because now there are in all readers of 'C' for all virtual machines only 1 GB of free space I want to resize their virtual disks. The problem is that I can resize them to a larger size, but Windows does not allow me to expand the volume inside Windows. When I want to expand the size of the Windows volume shows me a message saying "the selected volume is a system disk or a boot disk, or it was created in an earlier version of Windows, a basic disk. It cannot be extended.

I am attaching two files. The first is the configuration of the VM. The second is the error that appears inside of Windows. The message is in Spanish cause that Windows is in that languaje, but I have translated from English in the previous paragraph.

Is anyone of you know why this kind of errors appear? Does perform a work around? It seems that the problem is because the converted Convert the HD as a base virtual HD. In this format (Basic) Windows does not allow to expand. You have to change its format in Dynamics to develop, but when you try this error appeard.

The first work-around, I thought to do is to make a picture of this disc with Ghost and try to paste this image into a new hard drive for the virtual machine, but I don't know if it will work.

    Thank you.

    Warlock.

I have had success in utility Dell ExtPart help to resize on the fly without interruption of service to initialize volumes (drives C :).  Other methods such as attaching the drive as a data volume to another server or using GParted require at least downtime of this virtual machine and often down more than one time.  With ExtPart, I was able to avoid it completely.

  • Virtual 64-bit Software

Hey guys, I am quite new to this, but would be very grateful for the help.

I have Windows Server 2008 x 64 installed and vmware server 2.0 on it, but when I tried to install any software x64Bit on it he says that my processor does not support or is not compatible with the 64-bit mode.

All my 32 bit software works very well, but I need to create a virtual server with mode x64bit to test my software on it.

Does anyone have some advice for me

    What I'm doing wrong!

    Hi Tommy,.

Yes, which indicates that you have installed the 32-bit version of VMWare server. No worries for the 64-bit version, it works quite stable (using myself here in the Office on 64-bit Windows but also Ubuntu 8.04 and 9.04 two 64-bit).

    Thank you

  • Installed Vmware Converter 4.0 - Linux on Ubuntu 8.10 - 64-bit client: Converter do not launch

    Hello everyone,

I installed Vmware Converter 4.0 (linux version) on Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit and the converter does not launch. I restarted the system still get the same results. I uninstalled Vmware workstation and converter and reinstalled the two components and converter still fails to launch. Someone there met by the same questions? I use both apps on a Dell Precision T7400, 64-bit system. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

You have packages to execute binary 32 bits on your 64 bit system. Binary converter are all 32 bits, so you'll need them to be able to run the converter.

On Ubuntu, try "apt - get install ia32-libs" to install the package.
