Vista backup file is not visible

Using the backup feature in Vista, I managed (under Vista) saved 200 + GB of my PC hard disk laptop.  I know that it worked because:

1 - unused space on the hard drive laptop declined significantly

2 - I was able to restore files from the portable hard drive

HOWEVER, according to the help Windows, a file "Backup set Date" was created, but I can't - it is not visible.  How can I make it visible?

Thank you

Hello

Check if the file is hidden:Show hidden files

Backups are saved in this format: ------\Backup Set

When you perform a full backup, a backup folder is created and labeled with the date of this day. When you add updates, this date remains the same, but your backup is not expired. The next time you perform a backup completes, a new backup folder is created and labeled with the date of this day, and updates are then added to that new folder. Do not remove the current backup folder.

  • Error - backup file is not found or is not the file you requested.

Original title: restoration of Windows XP utility gives "file not found error.

    Hello
I have Windows XP SP3 on my system. I tried to restore my backup file I had created a few months back. and I get the following error:
"Backup file is not found or is not the file you requested.
even though I am pointing to the correct file.

It is possible (although I'm not sure) can I have left my backup file a different location for a more current. However, in the Restore Wizard, I'm still that it points to the current file.

I followed the instructions of Dena in the following post:
    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_xp-system/cannot-restore-files-from-computer-backup-on/4c3ac6eb-c8f5-4DB9-BA56-e158e057f828

So if I move my mouse even slightly, the hourglass disappears and is replaced by the pointer. Then when I try to work with the backup file, I get the same error as above.

Please help me with this restoration! There is a huge amount of data which suddenly went 'pfoosh' one morning. people say we should have backups for buffering against these events, but a pity that my backup doesn't even work! Help, please! I would really appreciate it.

Vista Ultimate - trying to COMPLETE the backup of a computer

    Hi people,

I had a similar problem with Vista (64-bit edition complete edition) machine. I run automatic backups for more than a year. Suddenly, backups started fail with the following error code:

"The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable 0 x 80070570.

I thought it would be my external drive - so I tried an another one - same error. After a search of different topics around, I tried various fixes (similar to above), but none of them worked.

I managed to find the problem though. The issue is not with the drive being written - it's the current backup disc that is the problem. If you want to save your primary drive (C:, for example), try to perform a check of the errors on this drive (right click on your drive home, you are trying to save, choose 'Properties' then go to 'tools' - click 'Check now' under the control of errors - and check both boxes). Since this is the current drive, you must stop and restart - the system then automatically checks the system files and windows files on the next boot.

After doing this, my problem cleared up. Apparently, the backup software was crashing trying to read a corrupted file or a sector of the hard disk, that he was backing.

Here is an article on the restore procedure:http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your process more closely than would a full restore.

This is a GREAT article on the backup and restore processes in Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.backup.aspx , but he won't go into detail about the restoration process - considering almost as easy, of course.  But it teaches you a lot about what is possible and how to do it.  It also focuses primarily on the full backup process, but he did mention the full backup and restore process as well.

Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work):http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

I also found the following (but don't know if it of true or not):

    1. after the start of "backup and Restore Center."

    2. I chose "Advanced Restore"

    3. I was did not an administrator password... maybe because my account is an administrator account.

4 choose "files from a backup made on a different computer.

    5. in the dialog box indicating "Select the location of the backup to restore", select "hard drive, CD or DVD...". »

    6. under the drop-down list box, select your drive/partition and continue

    7. If all the backups on your drive, it will show a list of them.

    8. in my case, he showed a backup, but in the backup location, it will show "backup location is not available."

    9. I was frustrated, but then I somehow just select this backup (Yes... even if he said that thebackup location is not available " ")

    10. and you press "next".

    11 guess what... no error!

    12. a window appeared asking me if I wanted to do a full restore, or I want to select specific folders or files.

    13. I selected the folders I wanted to restore and bingo... it their restored smoothly.

    14. so that the next time see a mistake, try to continue with him... ;)

I don't know if this will help, but it does not provide much information about the process (when it works).  I hope you find any error or discrepancy in your procedure and it will clear up and allow you to restore.

    I hope this helps.

  • Restoration of the backup files is not HD

Microsoft window came up with message that my HD was 'BAD', and I have to back up the files and replace HD.  I chose the option to back up all the files on a flash drive.

I have now replaced the HD and run the recovery discs.

  • Multitrack session: how have session reference copies of BACKUP files and not the originals?

    Hello.

Back to the Audition 1.5, I mainly to save a session as and have it save copies of all files in the same folder as the file .its. Since getting CC of the hearing, I found the option to save files through the session export multitrack and saved the project successfully with its project files... However, I find that hearing CC is still reference the original files when I open the session rather file referencing the backup files in the folder.

So my question is... How do I get Audition to reference CC and make use of the backup files, rather than the originals? My reason for doing this, it is simply because I have a large archive of SFX files and do not want the changes recorded in the original accidentally files. I want basically, each session to be autonomous and no risk of harming the integrity of the original files, I reuse SFX for different projects all the time.

If I was not clear enough, please ask and I will try to explain my problem.

    Thank you.

I studied this earlier today, for a different reason, and Yes, it is a bit strange - although explicable. The thing about 'Export', is normally the session expected to be open on the same computer, where it was then used. That will happen, is that the session would open on another machine, and all tracks marked as 'offline' should be linked to the hand to the copy of the file in the folder.

Personally I don't think it's particularly useful either. The problem is that if you make a copy of the files, you also make a copy of the session file and is not really what you want here, is it? You want a modified version that does not require all the relinking etc.

Unfortunately, I think it's 'as expected '. But, I'll put a request for the behavior to be changed, so that the .sesx export file reference saved copies, as it is much more logical to me as well as you, I think!

  • Imported files LR not visible

Need help... using lightroom CC2015.  I imported some files raw, a few days ago. Has made some changes today and exported to a subdirectory of the main files called "lively." The files are not on my hard drive that subdirectory... and now they are not visible in LR either.  I tried to re - import (not happy with it after spending 2 hours editing), and I don't see that dimmed by images with the message that they are duplicates of files already in my catalog. I rebooted and restarted everything... no difference.  Argggg! Can anyone help?

Your originals disappeared from Lightroom? This is probably not the case. Look at your article "all photos" to see if they're really gone. The fact that it gray images on trying to import them again means they are really in your catalog. Probably just not looking in the right place. What have you selected when you originally imported for what to do with the files? Lightroom may have moved or copied to a different folder where you had them according to what you have chosen in the import dialog box. When you find them in your catalogue, control or right click on one of the images and select "Show in Finder/show in Explorer" to show you where are the files that it uses.

    Hello
