Hi, is upgrading to Vista on a Qosmio G20 recommended?
I know the Vista Media Center not - work with HDTV here in Sweden, but WinMCE2005 (XP), and the latter is installed on my G20.

I don't think that Vista Media Center can be added on XP.

    Hello

AFAIK Qosmio G20 is not Vista support and unfortunately Toshiba doesn't offer Vista drivers, tools and utilities for this model of laptop.

In my opinion, you should continue to use Windows XP Home edition.

What you can do is try how Vista works on Qosmio G20 and install it on the second partition of HARD drive.

  • Qosmio G20-139: use the laptop screen to play on the Xbox 360

Hi I have a question about the monitor function with the G20-139,

I have an xbox 360 and would like to know if there is a way to use laptops screen to play on the 360 in high definition or composite mode using the monitor function. With the laptop came a composite cable at one end and a sort of headphone 3.5 mm at the other.

I read the manual about the case and it does not work.

Any help would be appreciated thanks

    Hello

The port monitor - where you can connect with the composite cable can be used to display video from your digital camcorder, video game or VCR on the internal LCD screen. It can be used as a line-in port to allow the connection of a stereo device for audio input.

In my opinion, you also need this cable to connect the Xbox to the Qosmio with composite cable plug-in software component.

Then to commence the Qosmio with the Monitor-in button that starts the Qosmio player.

    Hello

    Try this...

    Turning the unit off.

Once you press the Power On button, start typing the key F2 on the keyboard (immediately after that you reach the power button). It brings you to the hardware diagnostic Interface.

Choose your language and goto the option that says test component. Under component Test, goto screen tactile Test and take the two tests that would give you. Let me know how comfortable you can use the touchscreen to perform the tests.

When finished, exit the diagnostic Interface and the Windows logon, it should help.

  • Qosmio F50 - 10Z - use of several screens

    Hello world

I have a F50 - 10Z and various uses for a multi-screen configuration, not less of my work as a literature student.
Have at least two monitors by hand is very useful for writing the essay, I use one screen for the source material and the other for OpenOffice. In my downtime, I still prefer a multi-screen for photo editing configuration and the very small handful of games that support multiple monitors. I have to put it back the following:

    Laptop screen, screen 15.4 "capable of 1280 x 800
Two Proview MA - 982KC 19 "TFT capable of 1280 x 1024, the surplus of my old office
    A Samsung 40 "LE40A656 LCD HDTV capable of 1920 x 1080

I already know that I can connect either one of the monitors or TV and create an extended desktop, which I am at the present time, by aligning the monitors correctly in the Windows settings, which works surprisingly well and blew up between the very easy monitors. Otherwise I also know that I can have a monitor and TV is connected at the same time, creating two larger workspaces, the laptop can provide. What I can't do, is create a tri - or quad-monitor Setup. I would like to be following Office configurations, I set out that they would physically be in the Windows settings:

    Laptop TFT TFT

    _ TV
    Laptop TFT TFT

My main concern is the work area. Toshiba DynaDock seems the most sensible option. Its extra VGA port would allow me to launch the first setup (TFT, laptop, TFT)? I appreciate the DynaDock is unlikely to support multi-monitor games, and I therefore also examined the Matrox Triple Head digital 2 GB. Now that the DynaDock seems very affordable, even if only as a medium-term solution.

Provide a port replicator specific Qosmio Toshiba? I note that they exist for the other beaches, but they do not seem to a port replicator Port Qosmio from what I see. If they did, the DVI and VGA ports on a Port Replicator would be usable at the same time, allowing your desktop quad-monitor?

I would be very grateful for any help you can provide.

    Concerning
    CorporalG

    Hello

I think that there is no need to write much. On your Qosmio, you can connect an external device. TV or external monitor. If you want to use more than you need of external device like Dynadock.

So the answers to your questions:
    * Toshiba provide a port replicator specific Qosmio? *
    NO.

*.. commandeer the DVI and VGA ports on a usable Port Replicator simultaneously, allowing your desktop quad-monitor? *
Just for example: on the Toshiba port replicator, you can use a video output port. It is not possible to use two different video ports on the Port Replicator at the same time. The video signal can not be cut.

  • Qosmio G20: Need Vista Toshiba Common Modules & utilities

I have a Qosmio G20 and that you have recently upgraded to Windows Vista - Home Premium
I need to update my driver of common and utility Modules Toshiba - can someone help me?

    Hi Paul

Unfortunately, you will have no success to find Toshiba Vista drivers or utilities for Qosmio G20!
It seems that Toshiba would present only single common Vista drivers like wireless Lan, Bluetooth Stack driver, etc. These drivers are not designed for the G20 series, but you can use it on laptops with the same BT card or wireless network adapter.

However, Toshiba Vista drivers were not released for Qosmio G20 or F20.

    Did you check that?

  • Qosmio G20-127: failure to screen after closing the lid on Vista

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G20-127 and I recently installed Vista Ultimate (32 bit). I managed to put everything in its place (except the magic buttons, but the drivers are not on yet), but I have a problem that makes me seriously reconsider coming back to XP MCE.

When I close the lid of my computer, the screen turns off of course, but when I open again, it does not turn, but it stays black. And I can't turn it on again no matter what. I have to turn off the entire computer and it is quite unrealistic.

Funny is that after a restart for about 20-30 minutes, I can open and close the lid normally, but the same problem occurs after a bit more time to work on the computer.
The problem persists even though I disabled everything remotely connected to the closing of the cover.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hello English

Try you update the BIOS on the VISTA OS?

I can imagine you will always find something new and unusual, but please note that Vista is not supported by the OS for Qosmio G20 (Vista drivers are not available on the Toshiba download page) and you can expect that from time to time, you will discover new disturbing behavior.

I recommend you to install and configure Vista as described in the topic of s Francisco, configure OS for your needs, and be happy if you use Vista without any serious problems. In my opinion, for OS installation and configuration software Qosmio is Toshiba laptop more complicated template, and you will never be able to configure it as a supported and preinstalled WXP MCE. Commands supported are tested and bugs are fixed, but not with Vista on Qosmio G20.

Sorry my friend. Sounds stupid, but maybe that's just the truth. By the way: I like Qosmio G20. Maybe I'll buy one if the price is Ok.

    Good bye

  • Qosmio G20 with authentic vista - topical issues...

    Hi all...

I installed a genuine version of Vista Home Premium on my G20 and have several problems that I'm trying to fix. Check of Vista Compatablitity' highlighted only the bluetooth stack and the video drivers as a problem then I moved and made installation... I managed to find the Toshiba vista compatible Bluetooth Stack on Asia oshiba website (so it's all sorted out now. Nayone have ideas? have you tried in Media center, windows media player, nero showtime, divx player and VLC player... pklays video and audio slow in any of the foregoing.

    Any help appreciated.

PS in addition, the frustration of not having the qosmio player drivers is also obvious!

I installed Vista on Qosmio G30 and it works well (sound, image). I put t know why you have this problem, but maybe you should wait for the official launch of Vista. After Toshiba official lunch will offer probably all the necessary drivers for all mobile phones capable of Vista.

It is not necessary to be frustrated.

  • Qosmio G20-110 with Vista-> cannot transfer files to SD card

    Hello

I created Vista on this machine by following the instructions of Francisco Jr. Everything works fine except

    1. I can't transfer files on a SD card. I get the following error:
    «Error 0 x 80070079 semaphore time out...» »

    2. He reformatted not either. If I try to format it, I get the following error:
"Windows could not format the drive.
The Toshiba SD Memory Format utility would not work either.

The same problems occur if I insert a Memory Stick. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? I noticed some people on the forum with a similar problem toshiba Satellite:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=25227&MessageID=95150??

The strange thing is, I can not read the card no problem, copy her okay and even delete files it contains. But I can't transfer files to it and I can't format it. The card works fine in other laptops with internal SD disks. In addition, it works fine if I plug an external drive in the Qosmio. Under XP it was no problem. I tried to reinstall Vista, reinstall the drivers supplied by Francisco Jr. and ran windows update several times. But I still get the same problem.

Looks like a problem with Vista not being able to communicate properly with the SD Qosmio player. Would appreciate any help on this.

    See you soon.

    Hello

As you probably know not all cards are supported and can be used!
In of the Qosmio G20 unit user manual you should find information what cards argues the Qosmio G20card player!
    Please check this box.

    Regarding your card problem SD;

Well, I read that you also a message in another thread.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=25227

And regarding the declaration, you can read data from SD cards. But it seems that you can not always copy or remove the data from the SD card.

Well, the SD card should normally pay a locking function. If the card is locked you can only read but you will not be able to remove something from the card or you will not be able to format the card.
I think you should check this switch!

  • Qosmio G20 is not Compatible Vista

Vista is not compatible with the Qosmio G20, despite what was said in previous comments.

I got in touch with support Tech from Toshiba, Microsoft and my ISP. As trying to install it, even if it has installed, no component of Toshiba worked and my network/internet access does not work either. Technical support Toshiba said that since they advertise portable computers that are 'vista ready', this therefore translates by made of others, all other portable non supported. I hope you can learn from my mistakes I have proceed to wipe my data and reinstall XP.

If you're happy with Windows XP Home edition, I strongly suggest to stay with her.

    I have the Qosmio G20-114 P - M 770/XP MCE /... Part number: PQG20E-00D003EN

I've upgraded to Vista... and receive a message from driver error driver Toshiba common Module is blocked because it is incompatible with Windows Vista.

I was running Windows XP MCE. Download a newer version of the driver that would work on this machine and with vista?
I found a later version of this driver for other models...

    Hello

No, you can download the latest version of common for Vista modules because the Toshiba has not released drivers Vista for the Qosmio G20

This error message is displayed on your laptop, because the common modules only work with XP!
If you want to upgrade XP to Vista you must first remove all incompatible applications.

  • Qosmio G20 - blue Volume Indication bar does not work under Vista

    Hey guys,.

would really appreciate your help on this. 2 days ago I decided to upgrade my laptop Qosmio G20 for vista (I know I don't need to hear all the problems of Vista, but I had to do). in any case, after a lot of problems (missing drivers, windows known glitches etc), I managed to get it up and running again. At least it's functions.

All Toshiba equipment are missing because they are not compatible with vista. I found the drivers of replacement etc. and solved most of the problems. I have not yet solved the blue volume indication bar inoperative led, located just on the right side of the touch pad. It s simply stating an indication of fake volume and its not changing at all with any volume control. The green on the screen volume bar is also missing.

Any of you have any idea how to solve the problems?

    Thank you very much

    Anthony

    Hello Anthony

I assume that you have already noticed the Qosmio G20 isn t that supported by Vista. So I can believe you had problems to find all the missing stuff, but if the Vista works well now you should not focus on the little things.
Exact managed and controlled by Toshiba designed tools and utility functions.
If they are not available, I have gift opportunity see t to solve this problem.
