Qosmio G20 is not Compatible Vista

Vista is not compatible with the Qosmio G20, despite what was said in previous comments.

I got in touch with support Tech from Toshiba, Microsoft and my ISP. As trying to install it, even if it has installed, no component of Toshiba worked and my network/internet access does not work either. Technical support Toshiba said that since they advertise portable computers that are 'vista ready', this therefore translates by made of others, all other portable non supported. I hope you can learn from my mistakes I have proceed to wipe my data and reinstall XP.

If you're happy with Windows XP Home edition, I strongly suggest to stay with her.

  • Qosmio G20 - could not get the video to display on the LCD screen

I have a laptop Toshiba Qosmio G20, running Windows XP MCE.

The DVD player on board isn't sounds very well so I thought I would plug an external DVD drive to expand its use. After a lot of internet research, I finally found how to do this. Here's my setup.

Using the monitor port I used the adapter 3 RCA jacks. (There is no S-video on the DVD drive and an adapter did not work). I finally discovered that in order to get the image on the screen, I have to use Fn + 4. Now, here's where I'm having the problem. I can't get the video to display on my external LCD. FN + 5 didn't do. The monitor is an I - inc AH191D and is connected by VGA cable. There is no driver other than the one for the VISTA operating system... That is why it is not anywhere in the Device Manager.
Here are the settings I use in order to have all that shows on my desk, shows on the monitor.

In Control Panel open to the screen. Properties
Number chosen 1 - multiple monitors GeForce Go6600 video card...
    Advanced under
    the GeForce G06600 tab,
    nViewDisplay Mode: clone 1 a 1 b
The main screen: digital flat screen
    Secondary display: AH191

I also tried using the properties of controls on Toshiba. He says under TV output TV output but gives options of the program, but I don't know what I would use. Any ideas out there?

Wait I'm confused, if you try to send the output of your external DVD drive in the laptop, and then display the image on an external monitor attached to laptop?

If you use the DVD player on your laptop, it will be good quality S-video as a signal of low resolution.

Is there something wrong with the DVD player?

If it's just the DVD software you don't like, you can download other DVD players. PowerDVD is excellent, its better than WinDVD and other players in my opinion.

  • Qosmio G20 does not start

    Hello

Something is happening with my Qosmio G20.
Sometimes when I connect the plug to the computer the DC IN indicator flashes orange and the pc does not start.
A few hours later I try again and now DC IN indicator shows blue and I can boot my pc and I normally work for hours.
It's very strange. It happens regularly. A few days shows blue and works very well and some other orange flashes of days and I can't work and I have to keep trying to connect and disconnect until it flashes blue to put on.

Wouldn't be DC Power Charger malfunction? I've already ordered another of DC power charger to confirm, but my intuition says that is not the problem of the charger.
I remember the 1st time that never happen... I was charging my iPod through my Qosmio and out of the House and let it load it. When I arrived home, the laptop power light flashes orange and I thought it was in hibernation mode. But after that time it started to happen.
Before trying the new charger and reflections before sending it to the dealer?

    Thank you

It's very strange. It happens regularly. A few days shows blue and works very well and some other orange flashes of days and I can't work and I have to keep trying to connect and disconnect until it flashes blue for setting on

This flashing provides an error code which means that an error has been detected on the motherboard.
It is difficult to say what could be possibly wrong power supply to electronic malfunction
But this is only my personal opinion

You should certainly contact someone who could verify the material and can run diagnostics tests

  • Qosmio G20: could not save due to a problem of unknown calendar

Try to record off the TV and have done several times in the past. But today, he had the error message came up saying I couldn't record because of a problem of unknown timing, and yet I can clearly see the TV and can change channels.

I tried to record manually and in the guide, but no luck, same error message. I also tried to record via control of media down Center and it came with a recording conflict, indicating that another program may be trying to save. I never had this problem before. FYI, I record on a Qosmio G20 via a Virgin Media box.

    Hello

It seems that this error message appears if you try to manually record a program on a channel of the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) or / and the channel is not listed in the Program Guide.
    Microsoft has released a useful knowledge base article that could help solve this problem;

  • JBOD Qosmio G20 - could not initialize the disk of 320 GB - 1RAID-0

    Hello, comrades Toshiba users,
at first, I apologize if this question has already been answered, but I did not find the answer to my problem.

One of my colleagues has a Toshiba Qosmio G20 with two 80 GB drives. Big 17-inch "surf-board-sized" computers laptops are not my cup of tea, but the Qosmio him quite well served.
We tried to upgrade the two hard drives of aging in his laptop. With considerable experience in replacing the readers of the laptop, I didn't expect no particular surprise, but I was wrong.

We tried to replace the original disks
Bay 1: 80 GB Fujitsu drive, System
2: 80 GB Fujitsu drive, data, RAID off the coast of the Bay

    with the new
Bay 1: 320 GB WD Scorpio
WD Scorpio 2: 320 GB drive Bay.

The BIOS of the G20 is v1.30, the latest version. It recognizes new readers-, but one of the new marking as 1RAID-0 disks fails. After trying to "initialize" the 320 GB drive in bay 1 as 1RAID-0, on the third page of the G20 of BIOS, there is a disk activity, but the drive remains in JBOD mode.

Unable to mark the drive of 320 GB 1RAID-0, I am unable to use the 320 GB drive as a system disk.

If the original system drive is cloned on a new 320 GB drive, that it does not start. Starting XP * begins * but subsequently fails with STOP 0x7B - in other words, the infamous blue screen INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE when the Toshiba RAID driver is loaded during Windows startup.
Plain vanilla CD, of course with slipstreamed windows installation driver Toshiba, impossible rest. Installing Windows don't "see" drive in Bay 2.

When the drive system is put in the high Bay and G20 is started from it, Windows XP starts correctly. The drive in Bay 1 is accessable from Windows, however, remains offline in the RAID from Toshiba console. If the start player in Bay 2 is not an option, too.

A similar problem, where the owner could not install a system of 200 GB drive is described here
    Link: http://tinyurl.com/38wokw
The owner, however managed to install a 100 GB drive and we have resorted to 80 GB of disk as a system disk and the only player upgrade in Bay 2 to 320 GB.

I understand what happens when the disk is 'initialized' in the BIOS. Only brands of BIOS of Toshiba disk 1RAID-0, and it breaks down on 320 GB drive. I will refrain from expressing my opinion on this practice.

My question is - if it is possible, how * manually * mark the drive of 320 GB 1RAID-0?
Using a hex editor, dd or something similar is no problem. A partial answer would also know the disc more large size which * can * be marked with success under the name of 1RAID-0 at BIOS G20.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure, what could be wrong by presumably 320 HARD drive size might be too big!
How about the 100 GB or 120 GB hard drives?

I think you should consider it because usually most of the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and therefore not all sizes are supported.

But note; using the configuration of 1RAID-0 (striping), met by the operating system size is twice more only if the smaller of the two HARD drives in RAID configuration. Using RAID-0, all data on both disks will be lost, even if it is training of two disks fails.

  • Internal TV tuner for the Qosmio G20 does not work

I have a qosmio G20 and the built in TV does not work, I reinstalled the driver and the program windvr 5 but no response.
Whenever I start the program, I can't use the installer.
    Please can someone help me?

    Hello

Qosmio G20 was delivered with Windows MCE.
You can also use the Media Center Microsoft watch TV on the laptop!

Please check if the built-in TV tuner works with MCE. If so, there is nothing wrong with the tuner or the drivers!

  • Qosmio G20 is not able to read a cd after burning

    Hello

    I need help please.

My laptop just came back from the center of toshiba. The problem is, that I can burn a cd, but after I reinsert the laptop is not able to read. It always says E: / is not accessible incorrect function. On another pc, the cd can be read perfectly. Toshoba Center says it's a software problem and we should use the recovery disc. We did this, but it's always the same.
    Please can someone help?

    Thank you

Read your ad I didn't understand what the service does exactly, but it's really odd if this occurs after the installation of clean operating system with recovery DVDs.

Have you installed an additional burning software?
Have you tried burning different things on different blank media?

Sorry, but it is not possible to give a precise answer. Tell us a little more of this.

    Hello

I found this Microsoft Knowledgebase document:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555330

I don't know if it will help you to solve the problem in Italy, but you can check it out.

I also found this page that describes HDTV in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
    It is said;
To check online what digital TV channels are available in your area, go to AntennaWeb Titan TV. The two Web sites provide tools to identify what digital TV channels are available in your area for live broadcasts.

  • VISTA on Qosmio G20

Hi, is upgrading to Vista on a Qosmio G20 recommended?
I know the Vista Media Center not - work with HDTV here in Sweden, but WinMCE2005 (XP), and the latter is installed on my G20.

I don't think that Vista Media Center can be added on XP.

    Hello

AFAIK Qosmio G20 is not Vista support and unfortunately Toshiba doesn't offer Vista drivers, tools and utilities for this model of laptop.

In my opinion, you should continue to use Windows XP Home edition.

What you can do is try how Vista works on Qosmio G20 and install it on the second partition of HARD drive.

  • How to find drivers for Vista for Qosmio G20?

    Hi all...

Has anyone managed to get the qosmio g20 works properly with vista drivers yet? (or even you managed to find the vista drivers!).

Video and audio running in slow-mo... do I need to install the drivers for the monitor? (if so where are they?)

    Please., please., please., help someone...

    Leighster

    Be patient
I think you'll be able to download from the Toshiba site if the drivers will be available.

  • Volume button doesn't work is not with Vista Business

Everyone knows what software Toshiba should I install in order to use the volume button in Vista Business? I have a Qosmio G20-102. Thank you.

    Hello

Are you could not change the level of sound volume under Vista?

The problem is that only some unique Vista drivers have been released for Qosmio G20 and not all functions can be used.
But don t give up Andrej! There is a hope! Thanks to all the forum users who post proposed solutions!

I found this very long, but interesting and useful article about the installation of Vista on Qosmio G20.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=20494

The user FranciscoJr is a guru of the G20 Vista + Qosnio ;)

A hint; some of the objects of Toshiba value added package for the G30 can be installed on the G20.
Install only the selected items. Otherwise, you will have conflicts with the windows Mobility Center.

    Good luck

  • The series Qosmio G20 does support PC2-5300?

    Hello all,.

For some time now, I've thought about the possibility of an upgrade of RAM for my Qosmio G20 - 126 and all looking for a more economical way than that which is available via the Toshiba site (~ £100 for a 1 GB RAM Module!) I met articles suggesting that the Qosmio G20-126 is compatible with RAM PC2-5300 (333 MHz). To my knowledge the Qosmio G20-126 comes with 2x512MB PC2-4200 (266 MHz) modules installed, in addition to the direct available from Toshiba RAM upgrades are also PC2-4200. So my question for you, former scholars of the Toshiba support forum is simple; my laptop is REALLY compatible with PC2-5300? and if so there will be problems worthy of consideration (i.e. insufficient power supply etc...)?

Also, I wonder if there are intrinsic advantages regarding the marked Toshiba RAM upgrades available via the site of Toshiba UK. I found the modules of RAM of the similar (at least as far as I can see) specifications for a third of the price. It would be also interesting to note that the model of module of RAM available here on Toshibas website is (according to Google products alias Froogle) same price when buying from third party suppliers (so it's not simply a question of margins exorbitant of Toshiba, unless of course the sellers are also defined on by the aforementioned increases.)

    Sincere greetings,
    Lee Hyde.
    ([email protected])

    Hello

    The Qosmio G20-126 supports a FSB 533 and, therefore, the PC2-4200 DDR2 266 MHz modules are! (DDR2 266 Mhz-> 533 MHz)
It is absurd to use the RAM PC2-5300 DDR2 333 MHz due to the FSB. You won't see improvements in speed or performance.

I wonder why you are surprised that Toshiba recommends the use of own products (memory sticks). I think that each manufacture recommend clean products!
In addition, it is important to mention that brand memory modules are much faster and the performance is much better than the performance and quality of the nameless memory module.

Of course, you can use all modules that supports hardware specifications, but the don t wonder about laptop performance and memory problems after the use of modules without a name!

I use the modules of Kingston and I also recommend using these modules, because quality is really nice

  • Qosmio G20 - blue Volume Indication bar does not work under Vista

    Hey guys,.

would really appreciate your help on this. 2 days ago I decided to upgrade my laptop Qosmio G20 for vista (I know I don't need to hear all the problems of Vista, but I had to do). in any case, after a lot of problems (missing drivers, windows known glitches etc), I managed to get it up and running again. At least it's functions.

All Toshiba equipment are missing because they are not compatible with vista. I found the drivers of replacement etc. and solved most of the problems. I have not yet solved the blue volume indication bar inoperative led, located just on the right side of the touch pad. It s simply stating an indication of fake volume and its not changing at all with any volume control. The green on the screen volume bar is also missing.

Any of you have any idea how to solve the problems?

    Thank you very much

    Anthony

    Hello Anthony

I assume that you have already noticed the Qosmio G20 isn t that supported by Vista. So I can believe you had problems to find all the missing stuff, but if the Vista works well now you should not focus on the little things.
Exact managed and controlled by Toshiba designed tools and utility functions.
If they are not available, I have gift opportunity see t to solve this problem.
