  PS had my smaller hard drive on the anti-terrorism Act and had to use the disc for the operating system to start on vista Finally, but I need to use my new bigger hard drive, instead of the smaller hard drive, and when I swap them again, the operating system won't start not high at all regardless of how many times, I use the repair feature, or invite command, to the difficulty of starting, etc. etc.

  There is a good chance that the new hard drive is hard together to be the main hard drive (possibly using PINs) and that's why Windows won't start when it is installed (it is in competition with the new HARD drive).  Check to make sure that the pins are fixed to the slave or choose (non-primary).  Then try again.

  Went into my bios as suggested to check the boot order - and, Yes, I got HDD1 as first boot then CD - but then I remembered something I had seen earlier on my computer - it was on the list the HD which had my system like HDD0 files - so, I checked and there it was - listed option HDD0 so I changed HDD1 of HDD0 and was able to boot my computer without the disk system.  Hope this helps someone else with the same prob.

  No saving necessary data and re-installing Windows Vista might be the best option, but here
  are a few others.

  You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
  Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives.
  Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

  Lately my pc has been randomly close without warning.  It doesn't seem to be compatible on when he decided to "shut down".  I noticed that if I turn it on and just leave, so it seems that the time it takes to turn off is shorter.  But the time intervals are different each time.  If I turn it on and use a heavy application immediately (like Need for Speed) and it remains on 90% of the time without problem.  I tried a number of analyses of virus and so far nothing has much turned upward.  I checked my hardware and all is well.  There is a problem in the windows registry, virus, or vista is just corrupt.

  I want to install a simple Windows 7 for some tasks bit where I need Windows on my server Ubuntu 14.04. This server has no GUI (no X) and should have any.

  Already, I've installed the virtual Windows machine on my workstation to 12, so I would just copy the vmdk on my linux server and run it, maybe put something in the vmx file.
