Vista Ultimate 64 - Driver scanner Canon 4400f not recognized/corrupted

I have a USB of Canon 4400F scanner that works fine with other computers (Vista laptop and a desktop Windows XP), but for some reason any drivers/registry for this device is messed up on my PC, and it will not (re) install correctly.
It worked perfectly for a long time (over a year), but do not use it for a while, after he is now stuck in the same unusable state, no matter what I do. I suppose that some day that something has caused this.

All started with Device Manager telling me that the scanner was disabled when I had a glance to see why the scanner did not work. So, I allowed it. Status changed and then "no drivers are installed for this device. Yet, in the tab drivers, drivers are listed (good version) and appear as it should (the driver dll files are still visible and correct).

So here's what I've tried:

(1) uninstall the device and drivers. Reset. Reinstall the drivers, then plug in the device. Status: disabled. Activation of gives the original problem no 'drivers '.

(2) uninstall again, this time including the devices 'hidden' when he was in other USB ports. Searched the registry for all traces of the appliance, by product ID, code provider GUID, name of the manufacturer etc.. Deleted every file temp (windows General and specific user) and also the windows update "DataStore" and "Downloads" folder just to be safe.
Now, this method worked in the past for a U3 USB key that there was an identical error. This time? Restart, install the drivers, install device - FAIL. Even disabled error followed by 'pilots No. "

Drastic 3) measures - (2), but also uninstalled and reinstalled the USB drivers themselves for controllers and hubs. Rebooted and waited while each unique device USB driver has been installed from scratch (mouse, keyboard, etc.). Install scanner drivers and plugged into the scanner. Same end result - all USB works except the scanner.

I tried the above with both versions of the drivers from the Canon Website and the original driver CD.

Is there another location on the C: drive or in the registry that I might be missing? Again, this scanner works fine when I install it on other PCs that have never seen before, so I'm convinced it's my registry or files corrupted, hidden somewhere in C:\Windows\. All my other USB devices work perfectly.

Without having to reinstall Windows, is there a way to reset all USB and Windows thinks that he has never seen a single USB device before? As I said, the scanner works perfectly when I plug it into another PC - no need to install the drivers as Windows Update Gets the last and it works!

System information:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit
4 GB OF RAM
AMD Phenom 9950 CPU
Lots of disk space

Karena,

Thanks for your suggestion - but I managed to fix another way before I saw your post, so I have not been able to test your method.
I uninstalled SP2 (with the intention of doing a repair using my Vista SP1 DVD). However, after removing SP2, the scanner worked! Then I reinstalled SP2 and it still works. A little boring because we won't know what was arrested exactly-, but I guess that this method could have changed the location of the registry that you mentioned?

I bookmarked this thread for future use so, thank you again for answering.

  • My CD/DVD drive has disappeared / is not recognized

My CD/DVD drive is not recognized. I don't see what may have caused it, the only thing that I changed it recently on my computer is a windows update.

In the Device Manager under CD/DVD-ROM drives, there is a subcategory of TSST corp CDDVDW SH - S223F ATA Device (I presume it's the name of my drive) and when I go on properties in that under device status it says

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click "Find solutions to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

After clicking on "check for solutions" nothing seems to happen, can anyone help?

    Hello

19 code means there is a driver conflict such as two devices attempt to use the same resources.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack.

Normally the above will solve this problem otherwise working your way down through them, even if you did
    them before.

  • Drive CD/DVD is not recognized.

Original title: problems with ' Drive

Yesterday, Fix it Center has replaced the driver for my CD/DVD. It has worked perfectly for a few seconds and then 'frozen '.
After several attempts to restart it, I ended up doing a system restore, which (as you know) 'lost' the driver for it had "lead to new!

    Hello

Looks like the drive may be faulty, did you add that any CD or DVD of recent programs-
especially those that load at startup?

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • Driver webcam, peripheral USB not recognized?

I have the MSI WIND U135. I use Windows XP and everytime I turn on my webcam, it comes up with the bubble yellow saying: USB device not recognized. In Device Manager, I usually have a scanner and camera tab, but I have now.  I don't know what to do. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello Megan, you can resolve this problem by updating the drivers...

Download each of these files and right-click on it and click on extract all. Then go to the folder and run the Setup file and follow the instructions.
Each of them, install in the order that they are listed below.

After installation, restart your PC, and it should work.
If it does not, then there is a hardware failure in an integrated device. If it is under warranty, you can get it checked by the manufacturer.

  • Vista Ultimate 32, HP 6110 printer does not

Help needed here... Printer and the computer worked until yesterday when I need to print a doc somewhere part/whole way a problem was generated. I followed the advice of Vista Solutions Center to try to download the updates from HP 6110. First, as suggested, I inserted the HP 6110 installation disc and he ran at about 52% and stopped. Then I tried to download from the list of available printers, also no luck. No movement, no options, no nothing.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, which still does not work. HP drivers printer and other components needed are already located in the Vista system and HP solution is to 'plug in' and it (the computer to recognize the drivers and programs necessary... it's not work guys.) HP says that Microsoft manages updates.

What to try next? I would not buy another printer if I don't need it. I had perfer not to add no matter what more trash in our landfill sites...

Thanks for any help or work arounds,

Unplug the printer from the PC and go to printers & peripherals (printers, Start)... the printer itself should still be there because you have not uninstalled.  Click Properties from the server (top-right) and the tab drivers, remove any reference to it.  Click on apply, OK, go back to where the printer is in this Panel, right-click on it and choose uninstall.

Now restart and all traces of it should be gone.

Connect the printer to the PC – if possible, using another USB port.  Now, the PC recognizes there is a printer is connected, and if so, do you go to find the correct drivers?

If nothing is found, then it might be that the printer is really dead.  If you have a friend of the PC you can try it, it's a good time to call, maybe they could bring a laptop in your place and you can check in this way.
