Vista / Win 7 Troubleshooting Guide duplex printing

Some users have problems using the automatic duplex unit in Vista or Windows 7.  This guide addresses some of the common questions and provides solutions.

No option to duplex print. The selection for automatic duplexing two may be grayed out, or only manual duplex is available.  This happens usually because the duplexer is not recognized as installed, or the driver can default to not installed.   To fix this in Vista do the following: click Start, Control Panel, printers, right click on the printer, run as administrator, properties, (continue), parameters of the device, Installation Options, switch to "both sides Duplex" installed, OK.  For Windows 7, the method is similar: go to start devices and printers, right-click on the printer, printer properties, together of settings, Installation Options, device the "two sided faces" to installed, OK.

Back side Prints Upside Down. There are several possible problems that can cause the back side print backwards.  The first thing to check is the settings.  Generally, there is a checkbox in the 'Finish' tab or 'Features' to select 'Pages Flip Up' or maybe 'bind on the short edge.  You may find that some programs require this box to be the reverse of what you would expect.  I've heard tell that some Adobe products requiring the creation of reverse.  If changing the setting does not change the direction so you may need an updated driver or a fix.  You can check the website of HP heredriver updates.  Fixes for some ink jet models are available here.  This problem has been corrected in most of the drivers for Windows 7 but can still occur on Windows 7 systems that have been updated to Vista.  The patches for Vista works on Windows 7 as well if necessary. [Updated - HP has now fixed this problem in a lot of pilots.  Check here before I continue with my patches, the HP solution is better automated to install the hotfix].

"Material duplexer is not installed". Some printers such as the Photosmart C7280 connected networks may incorrectly indicate that the material of the duplexer is not installed when you print two-sided pages.  By clicking on 'OK' will cause the pages to print correctly.  HP has released updates for the drivers to resolve this issue, see the HP driver page to see if updates are available for your model.  If your printer does not have an available update there is a work around which may help: some users have reported that installing the printer as a connected USB device, and then restored in network after the installation will fix the problem temporarily.

Other questions. If you have other issues to print duplex on Vista or Windows 7 please post the questions as a response in this thread.  Be sure to note what printer model, how the printer is connected, your operating system as well as the details of the issue you are experiencing.

Edit: Maybe this will help someone else.

Under the printer properties > Device Settings the option to enable manual duplex printing has been set to enabled by default.  Even if it is enabled, the manual duplex option was not available in the print dialog box.  To play today, I put manual duplex to disabled, applied, changes new set to enabled and applied again changes.  Now, I have the manual duplex option in my print dialog box.  Something must have just been shifted after the installation.  Setting and turn it on again worked for me.

I also point out that I have authorized the HP software update web printing for IE, but I don't believe that to be the reason why it works now.

  • C6280: Select Auto duplex printing

    Hello:
I use an HP running Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium laptop.
I had already completely uninstalled my HP Photosmart C6280 all-in-one printer.
Today, I reinstalled it using the CD-ROM supplied with the printer.
When I went to print a MS Word document, I have not received the normal game
    Print settings/options to choose.
I could not choose automatic double sided printing: it was not in the drop-down list.

When I chose to print from the file menu of Word, a print dialog box open: this is the title was the HP Photosmart series 6200 Document properties. From within this framework, I chose:
Properties > tab shortcuts printing > general impression every day.
in the lower right of this Panel, is a menu drop down titled "print on both sides.
It offers the following options to select:
Off, manual, booklet from left edge, right edge booklet.
The "Automatic" option was missing from this list: previously it was manual above.
I don't remember if the border left/right options were there before.
Directly below this menu drop down is only for the selection of Orientation: Portrait or landscape.
So now I'm unable to print 2-sided automatic.
If I click on Duplex instead of General Everyday, I have briefly see the automatic word in the menu, but is replaced by manual. In addition, for this mode Duplex, Orientation drop me u is missing/hidden. I don't know if this is supposed to be that way.

The problem: why I have more option to automatic 2-sided printing?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

The link to the Vista/Win 7Duplex printing troubleshooting guide does not work.

I have the same problem with my C7280 and Win 7. Originally, this computer was connected wireless, who apparently does not have an automatic duplex setting. (I had to reload the driver several times with the help of HP to properly operate wireless because the HP Solution Center was not available...) Anyway, I have now linked the computer to the C7280 by wire... and duplexing "automatic" is not available. " Where can I find the option "enable double-sided printing? The duplexer should be available if wired or wireless.  The link for Vista/Win 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide is here.  Sorry for the fault of previous hits, I've also updated the previous link.

For Windows 7, click Start, devices and printers, click with the right button on the settings of device Photosmart c7200 series printer properties and the duplex unit installed, apply the value.

Reinstalled Windows 7 after the crash and reinstalled latest printer drivers. Photosmart C7250 print duplex automatically interrupted. Double-sided printing is now limited to "manual".  Worked well before. That's happened?

  • M651dn: with manual duplex printing only the paper size custom

    Hello

I have a strange problem with several HP printers in my office (cp4525dn, 401dne, M651dn).

Automatic duplex printing works as usual if I use plain paper A4 format.

But when I use a custom paper size (21 x 21 cm), then the 'duplex manual' appears on the screen with the information I need to deliver the document again.

It's strange. -That someone has an idea if this could be a bug or it's 'normal '. But automatic duplex should work too much here, I think. What you mean?

It makes no difference if or USB-connected to the local network. I also tried different drivers, without success.

    Thank you very much

    Daniel

According to the manual the User Guide Laserjet Pro 400 M401 , automatic duplex printing is not supported for custom paper sizes.

It goes the same for my printer LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M475dn .

I guess the same applies also to CP4525dn and M651dn models.

  • Color LaserJet Pro 200 M251 nw: unable to do manual duplex printing with Windows 10

Using my prior desktop computer that ran from Windows 7, I had no difficulty to do manual duplex printing on my HP LaserJet Pro 200 M251 nw color.  However, having recently bought a new desktop computer running Windows 10, I have more two-sided printing option.  Instructions to Guide the user to http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02886939 are unnecessary because I cannot complete step 3, click Finish.  After completing the first two steps by clicking on file - print and then click Properties or preferences, I am not provided with an option to "print on both sides (manually)" as described in the User Guide.  How can I get manual double-sided printing capability on Windows 10?

Usually when you have a driver problem, it is best to find the current driver on the HP website, disconnect the printer from your PC, remove the existing driver, and then install the current driver.

Windows often installs drivers that do not support as many features as the downloadable driver.

  • Mystery on 1606dn supported sizes of paper for automatic duplex printing

I'm trying to find out if the 1606dn supports automatic duplex copy legal paper size, but the info is not in the user's manual, which just refers to "that the driver supports. Of course, I cannot and will not install the driver if I do not have the printer, so it's kind of impossible for me to check what paper sizes the driver supports.

In any case, someone has this information, or is it a secret or something?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Automatic duplex is supported for legal paper size as you can find targeted by the software's technical reference guide:

a duplexing unit is installed and manual duplexing is enabled in the driver, the product automatically
prints on both sides of paper types that are supported for automatic duplexing (Letter, A4, Legal, and
8.5 x 11 only). For paper types that are not supported for automatic duplexing, a Help message appears
prompting you to configure the driver settings for manual printing on both sides. Manual printing on both
    sides does not occur automatically.

I used duplex printing on my Oficejet Pro L7680 all-in-One because it was new, but for the last month it does not work.

When you choose to print or copy double-sided, it then prints the first side of the sheet, rather than take this piece of paper in the duplex unit, it it spits and then displays a message that it is paper.

I tried reseting the printer by pulling on the power cord and leave unplugged for more than an hour, but he still feels the same question. Yet once, this happens if I print from my computer or if I'm trying to copy copy double-sided, so I don't think it's a problem with the PC. But just to cover the basics, this printer is network installed a windows PC running Vista Home 32 bit, Vista 64-bit Edition and Windows 7 64-bit edition.

Well, it's strange, it worked for 3 weeks and now it just started working again without doing me something for her. Very strange...

  • Automatic duplex printing - Photosmart 310 has

I have a new printer Photosmart Premium e-All-In-One C310a. In highlights eco told me, ' save the document of up to 50% with automatic duplexing.»

Since I assumed this printer could do that, but I was not able to find out how.

The seven-page document that comes with the printer isn't really a "user guide". Its more like a summary of features, very few 'how to' save for a step 4 put in place the process.

The C310a has the ability to print two-sided documents automatically and if so, how?

    Thank you

    Hello Bobst,

Regarding my info tells me the device supports automatich duplex printing, but needs a duplexor to do. Some models are sold with the already installed duplexor and some models are not. So in this case, you will need to buy a duplexor. TO see if you model has an installed duplexor check the back of the unit. If installed it should look at there is a black brick that comes out of the unit.  Click HERE for more info on this duplexor, its two-sided printing accessory.

It would also work under Windows 8 Pro?

Vista is also x 64 or am I missing things crusial?

    Hello

Business Inkjet 1200 allow automatic duplex printing, it is disabled by default and must be enabled:

Right-click the 1200 printer icon, then select printer properties.
    Open the device settings tab.
As installed in Duplex Automatic Two-Sided accessory and then click OK to save the change.

Automatic duplex printing should now available in the final by choosing to use the auto-recto-sided unittab.
