vNetwork Standard Configuration of switch

Hello

We have 3 guests ESXi 5.0.

I configured the network as below that we have only 4 NICs per host;

All the IPS below are in a VLAN. And what a vlan is configured on a physical switch.

ESXi 5.0

vSwitch0

The VM network

Networking - same vlan ip

VMkernel_vMotion - same vlan ip

2 NICs (active/active)

vSwitch1

VMkernal_iSCSI - same ip vlan (our IP storage is a different subnet, but it can communicate with the ip subnet of vlan.) This is when the creation of this port, there is no option to 'check' designed to 'storage', then how iSCSI traffic will pass through this port ONLY?

2 NICs (active/active)

I want to know if this configuration is ok?

OR

Suggest me a better option than this.

Easy answer. You don't assign it a gateway to VMkernel iSCSI ports. If you use IP addresses in the same subnet as the storage system, you don't need a gateway. VMware does not support iSCSI traffic routed anyway.

Now that you have found a VLAN / subnet dedicated to iSCSI traffic, I suggest you research a little more, maybe you are lucky enough to find a dedicated VLAN / subnet for vMotion too.

    I'm short on time, and I'll put up a UCS solution tomorrow for the first time. I have a feeling I'll have problems of access to the console KVM IP subnet.

    Do I need to configure the switch upstream so that the KVM access to the work of the management of VLANS? The subnet KVM stands by the management subnet. I could also set to the same subnet. What is practice here?

    KVM IP subnet must be in the same subnet as the management IP addresses you assign to each fabric interconnect. This is due to the KVM using the versus network ports the FEX upstream to FI ports.

  • Best configuration of switch for 4 natachasery - 5 ESXi

    So, I need to tell my boys to network how I want the configuration of ports (Cisco switches) for 4 natachasery connection to my HP DL 360. I need the vSwitch VM access to 3 different VLAN. I'm NOT going to use vMotion for this.

    I guess, I see 2 possibilities and does not entirely undesrstand pros / cons...

    First of all, I thought I would split the enet to 2 separate switches cables, but I was told that if I chose that this channel of ports 1 route would be active and 2nd would be Eve. Basically can not paste all 4 cards and divide them. This could reduce the bandwidth, but give me a redundancy using 2 physical switches.

    Or I can have all 4 enet cables go to the same switch (etherchannel), but if this switch would die I'm dead in the water, AND I think that EtherChannel mode WE (my network guy preferred LACP) should stay and LACP cannot be used.     This article describes the aggregation of ESX/ESXi links:

    • ESX/ESXi host only supports grouping NETWORK adapters on a single physical switch or stacked switches.
    • Aggregation of links is never supported on disparate networks switches.
    • The switch must be set to perform 802.3ad aggregation of links in static mode WE and the virtual switch must have its defined route based on the IP hashload balancing method.  Ensure that participants of the network adapters are connected to the ports configured on the same physical switch.
    • Allowing each route based on the IP hash without 802.3ad aggregation or vice versa disrupts networking, so you must make the changes to the virtual switch first. In this way, the service console is not available, but the physical switch management interface is, so you can activate the aggregation on the affected ports to restore network.
    • For more information on ESX networking concepts, see the VMware Virtual Networking Concepts.
    • For more information on configuring a VLAN for NIC teaming, see Configuration of VLAN Virtual Switch, switch physical and virtual machines (1003806).

    Yes, they should all be active, there is really no need passive adapters (that I'm aware of your configuration).

    On your physical switches, you don't need to do anything more than what allows a VLAN correct, i.e.: should all etherchannel or a similar montage. Side vSwitch, you must use the default 'Port ID' nic teaming strategy.

    -2 x Gbit/active - storage NAS (VMKERNEL)

    -2 x Gbit/active - VM LAN

    I want to migrate to a distributed virtual switch, but Ami don't know if it's possible. The problem is I onlyy a uplink public and I can't add the physical NIC as the standard switch and distributed virtual switch. IAM looking for a way to migrate the portgroup & physical uplink NIC in one step. Someone knows how to do this without adding a second NIC uplink? Please keep in mind that my vCenter is a virtual machine on this machine.

    After a first enthusiasm, thinking this tool with the meter switch fits perfectly our needs, real life seems difficult.

    Between several other problems, we must say to the device, the channel "s1com1" and "s1com2" are strings of configuration.

    This would have the same problem we discovered recently in our internal tests. For the problem that we found, we will probably include our fix in a next corrective patch. You can check if the problem persists if you change your locale in English in the control panel? If the problem no longer occurs, can you use this as a workaround for now?

  • I can't HP printer works again. Configuration, driver, switch print or USB port does not.

    I got the printer doesn't work after downloading the update and the usefulness of HP. They were put in a folder of Tamp, I think.  New utility and install HP downloads don't work this time. In addition, cat pulled the printer USB cable and I don't know where it was connected to. Message Windows XP says out connection or something about switch printing don't no configuration?  I don't understand any of this, can someone ' a please talk me through it? I have a lot of work piled up, legal and medical stuff and really need my printer.

    I need to configure a solution in which 2 CNAs Qlogic 57810 s was used to LOM & port B of each server blade m630, converged switches in A1A2 B1B2 & cracks MXL. All switches have under the IO modules mentioned:

    • Ports SFP + 10 GbE Module 4 port replaceable hot 4 x SFP + (optical or direct attach cables)
    • Fiber Channel Flex Module e/s, with 4xDell, networking, transceiver, SFP +, CF, 150M, SW, FIN

    Here are the requirements of the customer

    • Battery A1A2
    • Battery B1B2
    • All roads for SAN i/o Flex modules & LAN of SFP + must be active asset for a redundancy level CNA. attached is a diagram for a better understanding.
    • All empty ports of each switch blade ends at the DMZ switch with SFP + converter RJ45 1GBE customer.

    I know how to stack together A1A2 & B1B2 spend together, I need to know what needs to be set at the level of the CNA to support active active connections/paths. In addition, A1A2 & B1B2 switches to support IO END & Flex for convergence n/w infra.

    Your plan sounds great if there is any VLAN.

  • Multiple Configuration LAG switch

    -5-6224 switches with NO active ROUTING

    -1 5 switch acts as a LAG switch that I've got (2) port GAL from the other 4 switches in the single 6224.

    -L' single switch containing any other LAG switch is configured with (ACCUSE respectively CHANNELS 1-4).

    -All non - LAG ports are configured as members not tagged VLAN 10 and OFFSET channels are configured in GENERAL VLAN add 10 TAG all along.

    When we try to get the switch several ports configured in a SHIFT in a single switch, do I have to separate the port-channel number or I would be able to create a single port for all of the 10 Channel VLAN between all switches?  I get a few intermittent results when you set up the laboratory of the switch and I'm still not comfortable with the config where goes.

    Each LAG switch should be its own channel LAG. You must have 4 different channels of LAG. LAG is essentially to create a virtual port on several ports.

    I have recently updated our laboratory to vsphere 5 and then switches distributed, after the migration of VM networks I noticed two machines still show an idle connection to the old standard switch this switch and portgroup be deleted on all host servers:

    I tried to remove the network card and it time on the removing of the inventory, virtual machine and re-adding it... any ideas on how to get rid of this?

  • How to configure the switch for JMS bridge

    I tried with the selector option when working with several bridges, here is the scenario that I applied.

    Created five queues ( Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, and Q5 ) and configured JMS bridge Destinations with each queue with the factory of unique connections ( CF1, CF2, CF3, CF4, and CF5 ) and baptized as D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5.
    Then created JMS JB2 bridges with D1 source and destination as D2. Similarly the JB3 as D1-D3, as D1-D4 JB4 and JB5 as D1-D5.
    And sector for each of the JB2 JB3 and JB4 JB5 as two, three, four and five respectively and reboot after the changes.

    Now I expect the following scenario to work
    By pushing the message to Q1/CF1 with two in the content of the message, so wait for the message to be delivered to Q2/CF2 through JB2, but messages is not moved by JB2.
    Similarly, message pushed to Q1/CF1 having three in the content of the message, so waiting for the message to be delivered to Q3/CF3 by JB3, but messages is not moved through JB3. Similar behavior for other messages with four and five in the content of the message.

    In the bridge configuration, selected QOS as "Atmost" - once.

    Note: all configurations were conducted in the same field and the WL version is 10.3.6.0 *

    The example message I am pushing to Q1/CF1 say 'two Test Data'* and expect to reach the queue Q2/CF2

    JMS selectors work normally om jms headers and not on the message.

    In my previous post, I see that WebLogic provides an extension "SELECTOR xpath" in this area, although I recommend using standard selectors when possible. See my previous post for more information on the syntax of the selector, etc.. The best resource on selectors is the javadoc for javax.jms.Message (http://docs.oracle.com/javaee/5/api/javax/jms/Message.html).

    Sorry, I'm not a developer, just a tip Firefox user from 2002 with Phoenix 0.3. I have always used user_pref in user.js. And the original 'bible' for advanced users of Firefox - http://kb.mozillazine.org/User.js_file - shows user_pref as the syntax to use.

    I suspect that pref is appropriate for a single file - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox/Enterprise_deployment - as indicated under Configuration mozilla.cfg in this article.

    What I've learned through experience with user.js years is
    With user.js when it is defective or invalid pref Firefox won't read the user.js file possible. above the defective prefs prefs will be read only. Usually you can figure out where Firefox stopped reading the user.js in displaying the prefs.js file in the profile folder. above the defective prefs prefs it will bring to prefs.js, but the faulty pref and those below will not be in the prefs.js file. I ran into that several times over the years where user.js doesn't seem to work or stopped work partially through the file. usually due to typo, I did. but also when there was a major change in Firefox that invalidated or disapproved a pref I used in a previous version.

    This will identify the ports. Then use the following command to access the interface.

    I have to install a nonstandard configuration with Cisco ASA 5510:
    First of all, I have to do a VPN Lan-to-Lan and no problem on that:

    Inside of LAN--> CIsco ASA - router isps1--> VPN L2L (10.10.10.x)

    But at the same time the customer desires also that all Internet traffic is at another ISP router, and this 2nd router is inside LAN:

    Inside of LAN--> Cisco ASA--> router ISP2 (192.168.0.253)--> Internet traffic.

    How can I configure this config?
    I tried with the following static routes:

    Route inside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.253
    Route outside 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 217.269.x.y

    but it's done does not, due to a malfunction NAT.

    Any other ideas?
