Vostro 220 s does not start

I have a 200 s Vostro Dell that will not start. I get the following error:

Playing a disc error has occurred

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart.

I then tried to boot from the CD/DVD using the Windows Setup disc. I get the following in the Windows Boot Manager error message:

Status: 0xC00000e9

News: Unexpected i/o error has occurred.

So, I restarted the PC, selected F12 to select Boot Utility Partition. I selected Test system to start Diagnostics equipment, build V1354.1. Once the equipment Disagnostics program began I select Custom Test and run the following hard disk:

Device Quick Check - Get error code 0F00:0132

Drive Self Test - getting error code 0F00:0632

Then, I removed the hard drive from the desktop and placed in the HARD drive docking station. I was able to back up all necessary data and ran the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows application. This indicates that the hard drive passes extended testing and rapid Tests.

Given that Western Digitial App indicates that the hard drive is in good working condition where should I start looking to solve this problem. It comes to motherboard or disk main boot?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Russell

How I fixed power supply a Dell Vostro 220, which would not start all the way to the top.

Two 3300uF 10V, a 470uF 10V were obviously bad.

There were two 3300uF 10V more that didn't look bad, but replaced all four of them in any case.

My old Vostro 1510 (my tried & true), I had for 7-8 years under XP Pro SP3.  Its really been a good little machine, but only started to have problems... Yesterday was the BSOD with the 07th code.  Do system restore from the command through the splash screen prompt & if necc doing the XP restore CD & same BIOS reset if being researched necc.

So I tried to do the system restore to an earlier time with the button F8 at startup... blue screen then said that I had a windows configuration config 32 corruption & I need to use the recovery disk...

Could not get a cd on the internal disk but finally prevailed in now the eject button then re start the computer.

I guess it was a mistake to put the restore cd right there because nothing happened, just a black screen... I had to force close by pulling the battery because it is not closed in any other way.

Tried to restart & it makes the usuall start noise, the "can" symbol lights up at the top of the keyboard along w / all the three symbols to "lock" near her but NOTHING happens... black screen & I cannot get the disc in the CD drive.

I'm contemplating manually pulling the CD with a paper clip, but wanted to post my question here before I do & ruin even worse.

I have a newer dell laptop as I expected that to meet his maker someday, but I have pictures on my old I need to save!  You think I would have a copy of these images, but of course I did not!  I don't care if old dies, but I really need these photos because they have great sentimental value.

Can someone help me restore an old long enough to get my pictures of her?

  • Vostro 200 desktop computer does not start

Hi all, our company has an old desk, Vostro 200, which works very well for a few years.  A day after the cleaning, the machine does not start with the amber light.  Fans stop, even the power supply fan stops.

    I tried:

    1. using a different power supply, it's the same thing.

    2. using another CPU, it's the same thing.

After I unplug power 4 pin for the processor, fans start working and it seems normal but show nothing.

I also tried out the case from the jury and put it back, in order to avoid any shortened with the case.  It does not work.

What is the failure of the motherboard? I had a copper shortcut or circuit on the map?

Although it is an old computer, but we do not produce a bin with other parts in good condition.

    Thank you.

One last thing is the license Windows XP OEM's sucks it as well as the motherboard has failed because the license is listed in the BIOS?  Thank you.

    Thanks Bev

    1. After spending the Green and black cables, the situation is the same: the fans stop with power of CPU 4 pin; fans of work without power CPU 4 pin.

    2. after disconnecting devices PCI/video /, the situation is the same, still no beep.

    3. after remove the memory, the situation is the same.

After checking the CPU socket, I put that there could be some not vertical pegs.  Is it possible that I folded a few pins so that it didn't?

    Thank you

Yes, it is possible, the processor installed correctly, for more information, go to pages 152 to 155 of the owner's manual, if the LGA 775 is damaged, this may require a motherboard replacement.

    https://www.Amazon.com/Dell-motherboard-Inspiron-systems-compatible/DP/B003CO0WQS

The Vostro 200 was built with two different systemboards.

Motherboards should have engraved on it model number.

If she says G33M02, then it only supports Core 2 Duo processors.

If it says G33M03 then it supports Core 2 Duo and Core 2 quad cores processors.

What are the OEM sSpec numbers and processor that was installed as a replacement?

    http://www.Intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/000005554.html

Have you tried to reinstall the original OEM processor?

In addition, the procedure is usually to Flash the BIOS to the latest version, before the upgrade of the Vostro 200 processor.

I have a Dell Vostro 200 desktop computer that has started to beep twice when turning on/off, but it does not start and nothing appears on the monitor. Can someone tell me how to fix this, please?

    rsiboise

Two * beeps * indicate a problem of memory, first try to open the case and remove and reinstall all memory modules and see if that makes a difference, troubleshooting procedures more can be found in the Vostro 200 Mini Tower Troubleshooter HERE. • Black MacBook does not start

I have a 10 year old black Macbook, which does not start when a battery is installed.  If it is connected without battery installed, it lights up, but if there is a battery in it, even if it is plugged in, it will get the startup sound and the screen of the Apple gray, then turn off.  I got a new battery and charge it where the charger turned green, but the results are the same.

    Any suggestions?

It is difficult to say what is happening with this machine, since the time and wear are considerations. I don't know what version of the operating system that you use, but there is a sequence of things you should do - in order of severity.

Since the 10.11.6 patch my IMac does not start with my hub plugged.

    Everyone

I assume you mean a USB hub? What does do when it's plugged in? It starts successfully when the hub is not plugged? If so, I would say that something is wrong with the hub or there is a problem with the port it is plugged or something plugged into the hub.

Try to plug it into a different USB port on your Mac.

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or limit Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and allow your firewall to ask permission to get access full and unrestricted, again to install for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

  • My MacBook does not start and fires after the Apple logo. I received this error via FirstAid detail in disk utility.

    Hi Apple/community,

    I need a help.

What it means? Operation failed! My MacBook Pro does not start. It cuts after the loading screen. What will happen?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Well, it seems that your MacBook Pro hard drive has failed and cannot be repaired by disk utility.

Try to reboot into single user mode: How to start your Mac in single user mode or verbose--Apple Support

If it works, try to repair the disk with this command:

    fsck -fy

I tried to transfer my bookmarks and preferences from Firefox to Chrome, but I had a similar error suggesting that Firefox was already open and I have to close first.

I also turned off my computer and uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox several times.

I'd really rather not lose all my bookmarks Firefox, modules, and preferences. I also prefer to use Firefox for Chrome, so if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. I don't know what else to try.

My PC runs Windows 10, incidentally.
