VPLS multicast support

I want to deploy muticasr on VPLS, all can you me, wthether is possible and also what are the design and implementation considerations I should have?

Brgds,

There is nothing like EoMPLS or VPLS helps multicast up to now, the VC PW are transparent to the traffic running through them and endpoints maintain the State of what needs to be sent on a PW.

That said, the order for reference are taken by the endpoint based on MAC table formed by using native ethernet method of flood of learning and transfer.

Let's look at this topology;

SW1 SW2<---><--><--->SW1 SW3.

Now suppose that they are simple switches are connected using normal ethernet ports and fiber/copper.

Now, if enable us igmp snooping and start multicst traffic of SW1 SW2 receiver, then

first of all it would be flooded on the interface of connection both SW2 and SW3 SW1.

Once the State of the receiver is discovered and the outgoing interface is known as interface

interface to SW3 SW2 connection is cut. and there will be no more flooded

through this interface for this group.

Now in VPLS these interfaces for interconnection are replaced by PW. If you have a logical connection

between SW1 and SW2 SW3. And also endpoints PE cannot maintain state multicast regarding PW VC until now.

The work on this project VPLS group studying this aspect for the introduction of snooping or multicast State of maintenance in the ot PW VC relationship. until then, he is considered unknwon and flooded through all the neighbors on a PFD VPLS instance.

So if you deploy Mcast on VPLS, it will be broadcast through the PW VC connection,

at least scale you can do thing to have a star VPLS between the source n

and the destination. If you try to dpeloy this multicast for access over metro-E clouds separated on through MPLS cloud.

HTH-Cheers,

Swaroop

    Hello.

The NCS5500 of network Convergence system does support multicast transfer? If so, which flavors of PIM?

If not, it will be? When?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi Carlos,

    in the current version (6.1.1 / 6.1.2), the NCS 5500 supports PIM-SSM and IGMPv3.

More routing technology "legacy" (ASM: PIM SM, IGMPv2, Auto-RP, MSDP, BSR, etc.) are targeted for 6.2.2 (should be around April 2017).

  • Hello SRP527W and multicast

    Hello

We have recently installed a SRP527W on our House (and [10 computers - 6 of which are Apple] Home Office) network and have updated to the latest firmware:

    Model: SRP527W, ADSL2 + annexed, 802.11n ETSI, 2FXS/1FXO
    Version ID: V01
    Hardware version: 4.0.0
    Version of boot: 1.1.17 (January 4, 2010 - 21:15:46)
    Firmware version: 1.01.11 (004) June 22, 2010

It seems that we are now (there was no problem with the Siemens router we used previously) problems with a Hello related applications (Please note I guess that I am not mistaken, that the symptoms point to a problem with Hello, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong):

    • Hi printers are not detected (Apple OSX Server running Hello print server).
    • Remote iTunes on iPhone is slow to find iTunes servers (two {mini mac} media centers we have running), and that is if he can find them at all - sometimes it is there, saying looking for the just library and does nothing;
    • Remote speakers connected through several different Airport express (AirTunes / AirPlay) speakers stall Dungeon and having failed to reconnect - they then, of course, disappear from the iTunes GUI as well as the Remote GUI iTunes on the iPhone.

    Installation program:

    • Mac OS x server with Hello Print Server running (among other services) - connected by ethernet to RPS
    • 12 wireless clients are all on the same SSID - x 6 Mac incl. 2 x machines mac mini media center, 3 units express airport with remote speakers connected, others are PCs.
    • V.2 IGMP enabled with proxy and leave immediately activated.
    • InterVLAN routing active
    • RIP disabled

Yet I found no solution to the problem of the printer.

Regarding speakers and remote control go, the wireless (Airport) bicycle off the coast and back to on, appears to allow iTunes to discover (Discover) Airport Express intervene again and a remote application on iPhones to iTunes on computer media that comes with having the airport turned off center and turn it back on.

Problem is that this happens every hour or so... and it became boring. I have read many other forums where people have similar problems, but it seems always to come to a multicast broadcast... that is the problem - how to set up the RPS for Hello mulitcast?

I note Andrew Hickman precise in another previous discussion on the SRP527W series, that Hello was not substantiated - that was back in June of this year (2010). He also said that he was on the road map for a future version of the firmware SRP5XX (the version of the firmware in this discussion was 1.01.01 (006) January 22, 2010, that we are now up to 1.01.11...can, I guess that Hello is now supported?)

    My questions:

1 are still Hello and multicast supported?

    (a) if so, do, he needed to set it up for Hello?
AA) from my reading, I think I am experiencing is due to a problem with the way which multicast is managed on the routers of PRS... is that correct?

    (b) if there is not yet any load Hello, when will it support? Networking features of Apple products depend so much on Hello, and there are SO many Apple devices, this problem seems crazy!

Everything / all help is very appreciated! If you want additional information about the Setup program, please let me know... I just want to make this work I've been hitting my head on a brick wall for the last 4/5 days... reading the forums, try everything... with no luck yet.

    See you soon,.

    Vaughn.

  • All Iphones and Ipads can not find via AirPrint printers.

    Hi Bill,

Believe that the problem is related with your router multicast support, it is essential to support the mulitple packages to use AirPrint.

The following discussion about the choice of your router IGMP Snooping can help solve the problem:

    https://discussions.Apple.com/message/22131110#22131110

I would ensure that iOS devices are connected to the 2.4 GHz wireless network, the printer does not support the connection of 5 GHz and two devices must be connected to the broadcast wireless in the same range.

    Hope that helps,

  • impression on m1212nf air

I have my HP m1212npf MFP netrowked on a netrowk wireless, and eprint works very well.  My apple devices cannot find the printer on the network for AirPrint.  I watched throgh all the settings and updated the firmware.  Am I missing something?

    Thank you.

The sympthoms you describe seems exactly that the absence of multicast support.

From my own experience, routers Belkin does not support multicast (maybe the changes, at least that what I have been confirmed by the Belkin support on a year ago)

I suggest call Belkin support and check if the router supports Hello, who can also appear under IP or multicast DNS, mDNS, IGMP snooping or good morning on different routers.

  • Extend the L2 VLAN multi-site WAN

    Hello

I have several sites connected over a MPLS network provider, everything works as expected, have full connectivity L3 in all these sites.

I now need to establish layer 2 connectivity (VLAN) on the 21 sites. Ideally, I would intend to attach additional routers behind routers of THIS (don't have no access to these suppliers or PEs, but provider may re - configure BGP on the CE peer with our device) and use a port on these routers as port Lan Layer 2, but do not know which technology to use

    1. L2TPv3 comes to mind, but can L2TPv3 works in a multipoint configuration? Can I have a site as a hub and others like rays and talk through the hub? Traditional using L2TPV3 config, how do I use multiple Xconnects for the same VLAN on the same interface?
    2. Worse, I can run on (also our new routers VPLS PEs) MPLS VPLS, but seems like overkill.

What you guys say is the most simple/more elegant solution for this puzzle?

L2TPv3 does not support multitouch.  It can perform point to point.

VPLS does support multitouch, but you need much more expensive kit to do.

I have just a brainwave!  You only use the IP protocol for this network of layer 2?  If so, use LISP.  It works on the same lower end kit of Cisco.  I would like to convert your entire network to him.

In particular, you must activate the LISP mobility.

    General information of LISP:

An example of an extension of the continuous complex layer 2 using LISP with full redundancy.  You don't want something this complex, but it shows what you want to do, and the massive power that LISP has.

  • rv220 allow traffic on a port magnified

    Hello

This should be a simple.  I am in my rv220, and the title of port forwarding, I created a rule.  I also created a personalized service for the particular port I want to allow traffic.  The problem is I want traffic to go to any computer on the local network.  What ip address I put as a destination.  I tried to put on a show, but it did not.  192.168.1.255. what I just put in the IP of the router LAN and it will do the rest?

    Please notify.

    Tony

    Hi Tony,.

Packets transmitted by the WAN port are unicast. Broadcast packets are filtered and not allowed to the local network by default. No option in RV220 to rewrite a unicast packet to disseminate.

There is only IGMP multicast support on this router, but I guess you do not speak on this subject.

Normally with only firewall rule, you can allow traffic for a specific service to enter, WAN, LAN, but more NAT will be a problem.

You can share the service you're trying to broadcast in the local network?

  • B210a won't airprint

everything works fine but the airprint

I did everything suggested the support page, but it will not airprint

Looks like everything is going well, my iphone, ipad and itouch all detect the printer and it seems that he sends it but nothing every lot of the printer

    I turned off the bluetooth

I put it closer to the router

    I tried to turn it

I think I did everything. Help, please

    Hello

Airprint uses Hello pockets that depend on IP multicasting, it might be caused by no. Multicast support by the router or protocol can be disabled by default.

To identify the problem and check if it is related to your router or not, please try temporary of the iDevices directly to the printer (ad-hoc connection) and check any changes:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02945489

If you are able to print successfully using direct connection, please specify your brand of router, model and firmware version in order to better understand any possible cause.

  • My bought my hp deskjet 3050 printer has because he said it would broadcast print from my ipad, but it will not

My iPhone and iPad 2 will not print my printer deskjet 3050 again when information was that it was a printer to use with them. I went through all the suggestions on these pages in support of sites for this problem if I get it working I'll send the printer from the f all buy it aims to use with my mobile devices.

    Hi jezz8,

Indeed, the huawei echol liferouter doesn't support multicast which is required for Airprint functionality to operate according to the needs...

While lookig for a router, you must search for IP or multicast support, can also be called as mDNS as Hello.

I wouldn't recommend any specific router in order to avoid to provide any infor missleasing, creation, I recommend that you contact the router service provider before you buy any model and verify this compatibility, because they will be able to provide the most up-to-date information.

After my experience, I noticed some previous posts in the forums of Talk Talk, which replaced the provider the router for a compatible model as part of the service, I recommend to check this option as well.

I hope you find this information useful, will be happy to help you better understand the capabilities of any specific router you can interest, would simply not be used to provide you with wrong information.

  • Why IPSec does not support multicast traffic?

If IPSec is a tunnel, why can't set you the multicast traffic in an ACL to protect?

IPSec is a standard, and there is nothing in the standard that allows for multicast or broadcast traffic to go through it.

Specifically, the IPSec RFC (ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc2401.txt) says things like:

A security association is identified by a triple compound

a security parameter Index (SPI), Destination IP address, and a

identifier (AH or ESP) security protocol. In principle, the

Destination address may be a unicast, broadcast IP address

address or multicast group address. However, the IPsec Security Association Management

Currently, the mechanisms are defined only for unicast SAs.

    and

The receiver-orientation of the Security Association implies that, in

the case of unicast traffic, the destination system will normally be

Select the SPI value. Making the destination select the SPI

value, there is no risk for manually configured security

Associations to conflict with automatically configured (e.g., via a)

The key management protocol security associations) or safety

Associations from several sources in conflict between them. For

multicast traffic, there are multiple destination systems by

Multicast group. If some system or person will need to coordinate

Among all the multicast groups to select an SPI or SPIs on behalf of each

multicast group and communicate the IPsec group information to

all legitimate members of this group of multicast through mechanisms

    not defined here.

Several transmitters to a multicast group SHOULD use a single title

Association (and therefore Security Parameter Index) for all traffic to

This group when a symmetric key encryption or authentication

algorithm is used. In such circumstances, the receiver knows only

that the message is from a system with the key for this

Multicast group. In such circumstances, a receiver will be generally

not be able to authenticate which system sent the multicast traffic.

Specifications for other, more general multicast cases are postponed

    for later IPsec documents.

Sorry to quote RFC from you, but we just follow the standard and the standard does not support this. You can bypass it by setting a GRE/IPSec connection, but what really is encapsulating the broadcast/multicast in a package of volition unicast first, then encrypt this unicast packet.

  • Is this version 2.3 FWSM support multicasting? Specifically, IGMP?

Is this version 2.3 FWSM support multicasting? Specifically, IGMP?

    Hello dkea:

All the FWSM version to the newest, 2.3.2 does not support routing multicast on routed mode, either alone or multiple context mode. However, the multicast routing is compatible firewall transparent mode (Layer 2), which shall submit to the limitation of 2 interfaces.

Routed mode support will be available in the next version - 3.1.

    Hope that helps.

  • Multicast in router Cisco RV325 support

    Hi team,

I have a simple network with a router of 325 RV with a multicast server in one vlan (send to 224.1.1.1 on UDP 5000), and I have several receivers in one vlan, connected to the same router.  I enabled multicasting across the port and it does not work.

Do you know if there is any downside to this topic?

    Thank you

    Sergio.

    Sergio,

The multicast feature Pass Through is part of the suite of firewall and only affects traffic between the WAN and LAN.  Unfortunately, the RV320 is not capable of multicast routing between the VLANS.

  • BT Vision (UK IPTV / Internet)-+ Multicast Unicast on same port wired?

    Hello

I recently bought a Nighthawk R8000 to replace my BT Home Hub 4. Everything goes fine until I checked the BT Vision service I have. This box uses the internet standard and multicast for television services.

The problem I have is that I can only have one or the other work at any time. So if I set up IPTV to cable port 4 bridge mode I get TV multicast channels but lose the standard Internet features.

If I then disable bridge IPTV mode I get internet services normal but lose the multicast channels.

Is there a mode / setting etc. that supports two IPTV multicast and unicast traffic to the same cable port?

It feels like this should be possible, I'm not sure what method to achieve this.

    See you soon,.

Does anyone know of a way to implement a subscriber of multicast UDP on a RT using CVI 8.5 system?  I know that CVI 2009 supports the functions of UDPMulticastSubscribe/UDPMulticastUnsubscribe, but I would rather improve not if I can avoid it.
