VSA and PowerChute Network Shutdown

Hello

Our environment currently has 2 a vCenter server and ESXi hosts. The vCenter server has all our virtual machines production, which should be able to stop using PCNS with no problems. VSA has been installed and configured for 2 ESXi hosts.

To stop the ASB, could we get into the cluster and attributes specific to the provider in maintenance mode, correct? Yes, in the case of a power outage (like this weekend), is there a way for maintenance mode be entered automatically and for VSA attributes be stopped?

Has anyone tried this configuration successfully?

Thank you.

I don't know about the need for a shutdown script.

The SBA is designed to be synchrous and not lose data when the device is lost, as long as the system RAID ESXi is set up correctly: the RAID controller works with a saved pile of the cache, and writeback cache is disabled in the disks.

    Greetings programs,

BrightHouse over the last two weeks came out and replaced all the cables on the House, the street and poles near home. Replaced twice modem (Motorola, only an Arris, now a huge Ubee modem. BUT...

I'm still a bottle neck to 12g on the laptop... but devices ALL wireless, three tablets, three phones, PS3 (connected, but capped by Sony at 20G) etc. are the actual speed. I found the problem (s), even if I am always left with a few questions.

During this process, I have disabled the firewall, but that did not help. However, I noticed 'tweaks' accessed via the tab 'Advanced' in 'Microsoft Firewall' which looked like, they must be checked in order to access the internet. I checked these and reintroduced the firewall. After I got things working, I unchecked them and things still worked so I obviously don't understand what these parameters.

    The solution:

    (1) I have to go straight from the modem cable to the computer. I can't have a cable modem, router wireless, computer, even if using hard wire, and even if this same configuration works with another computer. Also, I can't use a cable length to go from modem to the computer. So, it seems to have had a problem of cable length. Power problem? Only connected to this computer devices are the mouse, the keyboard and the Ethernet. Would not this be fixed with an upgrade of the power supply? Or is it due to the quality of the Ethernet hardware on the motherboard? It's a Dell Vostro 200.

    (2) in back and forth between configurations while following the problem, you must think to unplug the modem to reset between each configuration. You may have stumbled upon the solution, otherwise he's not shot. Also, I unplugged the cable from the modem when you reset data cable - do not know if it was necessary. I wanted to limit the degrees of freedom that I had a lot, as it was.

  • Problem of password of account, without that we can connect to the network on this computer. The error indicates, "the trust relationship between this device and the network is no longer valid.

Hi, I hope you can help with this problem. A friend has 6 computers networked to a Tower Server and have a problem. A worker student put computers into hibernation, and since then, nobody can connect to the network on this computer. The error indicates, "the trust relationship between this device and the network is no longer valid. I tried to get into the pc to try removing network and replace it, but I can't get on the Administrators account because it has been disabled. I'm at a loss on how to proceed. My friend cannot afford a service call, so I'll try to help him.  Thank you

If the computer is on a domain then there are at least two accounts that can be used to remove the computer from the domain:

    • A domain administrator account.
    • A local administrator account.

When your friend has launched Windows for the first time after buying the machine, he was prompted to enter the name of an account. This account is created automatically with administrator privileges. He should use it now.

    Hello

In general, BBs "prefer" WiFi network of business for services BIS data. You can always check inside the connection management > State of Services, which BIS route is average.

But you should also check inside the apps... many 3rd party applications have configuration items, inside the application, allowing you to order the application to use a data compared to another channel. What I always do is run my apps use BIS... in this way, they will follow along as BIS shifts between WiFi and my network of business data. But, if (for example) you configure an application to use only your corporate data network, while the app can avoid past well after BIS BIS to WiFi, and this app may well continue to consume data out of your network connection data carrier, even if BIS moved to WiFi.

With older OS levels, you had no choice, but to leave the "Data Services" set on "on" any channel to use, which often caused the situation described above (BIS on WiFi, but some consumption of carrier data app)... disabling the Services of data, these levels of older OS, BIS-level data for all channels off including WiFi. With the later levels of the operating system (somewhere in the OS7 range, I remember well), you can actually turn off the parameter Data Services and wireless leash... that allows BIS to still work on WiFi, but prevents any application using the data carrier network regardless of how the application is configured.

But... I'm curious... you may have about the features that only work on SmartPhones BB, yet your profile on this site says you have only a PlayBook, in which case none of this applies since the PB has no radio has WiFi and mobile only. But, you posted this in the "BOLD" of this site section, so you could guess assumes that you have a "BOLD" in addition to your PB...

    Good luck!

  • How to configure a multihomed in Windows 7, wired network and wireless networks at the same time?

    Hello

I have a fixed computer Windows 7, I need to configure for the use of wire and wireless networks.

On the phone we transfer vast amounts of data, astronomy cameras than only products of 20 to 30 seconds, space images 3-4 GB each. The cameras are connected to the top of a tower, which in turn is connected via a 45 feet cable CAT-5 to the search engine.

Internet access requires a wireless network connection.

These two connections work - separately. I have to disable an and activate the other to pass. This jump back and foth is obviously a bit inconvenient.

How to configure Windows 7 to manage both types of networks at the same time? On another forum I learned this kind of configuration is called multihoming, and it's something difficult to achieve.

Having studied more about it, there is another possible solution called Internet connection sharing. that may be easier. I haven't used this option for years (since the routers were introduced) but is still active.

Disable DHCP on the Dovado or use a cable between the PC and the laptop.

Turn on the wireless on the PC and make sure that you have an internet connection. Disable wireless on the laptop. Connect the PC's LAN ports and laptop (via router or a cable crossover).

IN the network of PCs and next to the connections Sharing Center, you must have 2 Ethernet and WiFi options. Double click on WiFi, then on the next screen, click Properties.

The second tab in the next screen is sharing, check allow other users of the network to connect and then OK.

Define the IP addresses for PC and laptop as in my previous post, but this time on the laptop set the default gateway to the IP address of the Wired of the PC port, the 1st DNS to the address of the Huawei and value of secondary school who suggested for your ISP.

This affects your PC to access wireless internet and allows the laptop to access the internet via the PC

  • Sharing of virtual machines and the NETWORK adapter settings

I usually have multiple NICs per physical machine, and I often map more than one NETWORK card in a virtual machine. This does all work well with 'regular' virtual machines and virtual network Editor. I use 10.0.1 on linux 64-bit Workstation.

As soon as I share a virtual machine, the NIC mappings cannot be changed in any useful way. I can spend only NAT, HostOnly and connected by a bridge in a ComboBox control, without the ability to select a specific vmnet. Although connections are bridged, they are displayed as NAT, which makes no sense at all...

What is the reason for this? I'm doing something wrong? If this is the intended behavior, it's shared VMs useless for me...

    Kind regards

    Thomas

I reinstalled VMware Workstation and now I understand what happened.

I need ever - and HostOnly-setting in NAT network, so the first thing I usually do after installing VMware is to remove them and fills vmnet0 to eth0 and eth1 to vmnet1. This works perfectly well with non-shared virtual machines.

For shared virtual computers, this mapping has been messed up somehow. Now it seems to work fine, I removed all the vmnets and has created vmnet10-> eth0 and vmnet11-> eth1.

If the problem is solved for me; but I can't say how the maps I screwed up. I certainly had two bridged devices, but has been shown only a single bridged device.

  • Host of migration on 2 no and 2 network vMotion

    Hello

I'm trying to migrate virtual machines between the two groups.  I use a host on the new cluster as the go between.  This host is connected to two no and two networks of vMotion.

I would say that I can't have the two vMotion active network at the same time.  So I uncheck the checkbox vMotion IDE oucederomsurlesecondport a vMotion vmk and allowing it on the other hand.  But I find that I have to reboot the host to get to ping or vMotion to the bottom of the other network for vMotion.

It seems that this is not the second connection.  If I consult the routing table, it is empty for the second connection.

It seems that I just need to force her to arp on the second connection.  Or somehow for vMotion service restart.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Mike G.

The problem turned out the vMotion subnet get pinned to a vmk / uplink that was not yet active.  I discovered using esxcfg-Highway - l

So here's a ping on the failure of network vMotion.

    -333.444.1.65 - ping statistics

3 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

Here's the arp table.  He is aware of the subnet, but it's somehow pinned to the layer of VMware to vmk6.  vmk6 is vMotion on fabric B, which is currently not working due to the non-vmware of the reasons.

    ~ # esxcfg - road - l

Here are the arp table after I deleted vmk6 via vCenter.  333.444.1.0 is now pinned to vmk5.  Or deactivation of vMotion, dropping the uplink or a reboot would turn the road to vmk5.  Only deleting vmk6 fix it.  vmk5 is vMotion on A fabric, that works.

  • VSA and what happens if Vcenter falls down?

Hi, im specing a vmware project and we will use VSA and wanted to get the opinion of peoples

Option 2 is to go with a two host or a three node host.

In the node option 2 host, I would need a third vCenter server and act as the tiebreaker in a failure scenario

With the option of node 3 host I was running on one of the three hosts vcenter

IM leaning more towards option two node because of the storage.

Ive price on some Dell servers, and I am planning purchase servers that can have up to 8 disks in them, and im going to use all 8 disks with Raid 5.  If in the end im planning to have Abu 3.6 TB of space used on each server.  I intend maxing out the storage, so I won't be able to extend the storage later.

Since VSA reflects things, guests 2 or 3 guests have not give me more space.  So in the end, no matter what option I'm going with evil have almost 3.6 TB of usable space after VSA things mirrors

I plan buy 2 processors in each server with 64 GB of memory for each server.  I think I ran out of storage before having more cpu and memory, so im thinking the option three node would be wasefull

If lead hosts 2 will probably be about $10,000 each, in order to get a third one which would not really be used seems exaggerated

So I can just spend $3,000 and get a vCenter Server

But what happens if the Vcenter server has a hardware failure.

I know in Vshpere the computers physical hosts have all failover so HA will work again and so on so im not worried about that

But if Vcenter is down, which will have harmful effects on the VSA of things part?

    Thank you

    Mike

Nothing happens to the ASB if vCenter down - she keeps using data.  You will not be able to manage the ASB, but you will lose access to the data.
