HP Pavilion 15 laptop-p051us: bottle-necking and Brighthouse Networking...

Greetings programs,

I signed up for 35 G internet with Brighthouse lightning in August of last year. Worked great for two months, then started getting more slow slow and capped speed DL 12 G.

BrightHouse over the last two weeks came out and replaced all the cables on the House, the street and poles near home. Replaced twice modem (Motorola, only an Arris, now a huge Ubee modem. Thinking it was my four year old and put DLink upgraded router to a Linksys AC1600 model +. I even spent two days and six hours on the phone with supervisiors to Brighthouse trying different things. Nobody seems to know what to do. When I bought this laptop that is Windows 8... and has been finally updated to 8.1.

BUT...

I'm still a bottle neck to 12g on the laptop... but devices ALL wireless, three tablets, three phones, PS3 (connected, but capped by Sony at 20G) etc. are the actual speed. ONLY my laptop is capped at 12 the wire or wireless... BUT when I got the service in August of 2014 all worked for two months. Laughing out loud.

I have rand scans using malicious software Bytesand Microsoft Security Essentials to see NOTHING infect my laptop. I am at a loss now what to do.

Need help...

Everything worked fine for a few moments, and then the same problem reappeared. I can't stop or put my PC into sleep mode, unless I have first of all to make a restart. • Replacement of the frame and hinges - HP Pavilion dm4 laptop

I have a HP Pavilion dm4 laptop of 2.5 years. The first hinged on both sides broke that makes it harder for the laptop to close properly and now the frame is breaking apart. Is there a way I can get/buy replacements before other parts are screwed up.

    Thank you

Yes, I also have this problem (dm4-1050ea).

It all started on February 2015, when my aunt noticedv that my laptop was nt close properly.  It could be be made to do by pressing half upper (screen cut) to the front to the rear of the closure.

The hinges then becomes deective that the screen don't would not SOUPLESE nd would not sit just to the place (angle) you open to.

Following the hinges too stiff beame to exploit, came shortly after the left of the screen/lid and the window broke near the LH hinge (rather than though the bezel as shown in the image above). Then the right hinge broke off, then the screen become deective (mainly a band along the LHS - worked with detached hinges OK))

So, I find myself with computer work, not 100% functional & broken and needs special care to use. the screen does not work in all areas (a replacement looks like £30-$50), with the virtually hanging screen, need to rplace lying hinges (£10-$15) and also nees any other bits (?) and the knowledge to fix it.  HP say they can't stand any more of this model and have no theparts (from end of 2015).

It may be beyond the capacity of an almighty ccompany such as HP to find parts, but it does not seem beyond the my ability to get parts of - maybe-2nd hand - other HP broke! - But what I lak is kno detailed ho a skill to perform any repair.

  • HP Pavilion 15 laptop: color is washed out and the type is blurry

The color on my HP Pavilion 15 laptop appears washed out. In addition, despite trying several settings on the 'clear type', my type seems to be blurry nd hard to read. I already tried to adjust the color on the advanced settings, nothing helped. For example, if there is a box around this area to post, I don't see it. I am really frustrated and ready to return after having fought with him for more than a month.

After hours of frustration and try to understand what was wrong. It turns out that when the power settings have been adjusted for energy efficiency, it messed with the color settings and text. I put everything by default and which corrects the problem.

I read your post on the issue with the laptop won't start does not and wanted to help you!  I understand that the screen is damaged and you are using the external monitor to view the screen.  However, now that the laptop does not start, you can see is more of the external screen to see what is happening.

From my understanding, you should not be able to see an image on the external monitor, until you start the operating system.  You can try to perform a system restore by using this document:

HP computers - performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

You may be able to follow along, long enough until the image is displayed on the external monitor.  Otherwise, you can contact HP support by phone, for additional options.

It is not possible to connect to the computer without entering the username and password...

You can create a new user account and leave the section blank password... in this case it will not lead to enter the password.

  • HP Pavilion 17 Laptop: SP72853: updated Diagnostics hardware UEFI and Dual boot

On my HP Pavilion 17 laptop, I have a sollution to dual-boot Microsoft Windows 10 (upgrade to 8.1 pre-installed) and Debian Linux 8.

In order to start Debian (my main system of fact), I disabled the feature of 'safe start' UEFI. Ago, there was news that Microsoft's UEFI specification had changed and that its previous policy of mandatory "turn off secure boot UEFI" was now an option "enable disabling secure boot UEFI.

In other words, if I understand it, BIOS/UEFI firmware designed after that Microsoft's policy change can now either you allow to disable secure boot UEFI and allow you to use an alternative OS, such as Debian Linux or they can force UEFI secure boot on you and in this case, you cannot start a system like Debian...

Thus, with regard to the update UEFI available for my system, SP72853, before installing... I can always disable UEFI secure boot with this update?

Also, I noticed there is an even more recent update for my UEFI, which I assume that I will be offered to install once SP72853 has been installed. Thus, the same question about SP73263: I can always disable UEFI secure boot with this update of UEFI?

OK, so I advanced and tested myself.

First of all, I saved a copy of the previous update of the UEFI (SP72230), so I could go down to him if necessary.

So I just installed the update through HP Support Assistant, and indeed I can always choose to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS setup and boot Linux very well.

    Just for info.

EDIT: The latest update did not become an option available on HP Support Assistant now. The diagnostics UEFI version number is however one of the (5.9.0) SP72853 not the most recent one (5.9.1).

  • HP Pavilion 17 Laptop: laptop, usb external speaker iHome and HP Pavilion 27 x 1

I have a HP Pavilion 17 laptop (Windows 8.1, x 64, AMD A8) and a HP Pavilion 27xi monitor connected to the laptop via HDMI.  Because the monitor has no Audio, I connected an external speaker from iHome usb/bluetooth to the laptop using the connection of headphones and usb connection.  It was scientifically and all was good until I installed an HP Support Assistant update (there were 2) - no sound so back to the restore point.

I then installed 1 of the recommended updates (there were 2) and tried again.  Not ring again, so I disconnected the HDMI monitor and rebooted the laptop and got her through the speaker iHome. reconnected the monitor and the noise stopped. If I disconnect the monitor, the external speakers work fine!

NO idea what to do.  I want the monitor (eyes do not reach 70 years but like the portability of a laptop).  Any help would be appreciated.

Hope someone can help or help me find a solution (apart from the one I found) to get my screen sound and my PC.  Buying another monitor is not an option!

    Thank you

    yanceyg

    @yanceyg,

Hello and thank you very much for posting.  For the most part, I think if it's not broken don't fix it.  The restore point and then do not run update again.  If the system worked great before the update fails after that means that updates are causing a conflict in the system.

If there are updates available is not something that needs to be done unless you've met material which emits the updates correct.

The next option is to go and manually remove the drivers for the sound and HDMI support.  Do this safe mode.  Enter safe mode by pressing F8 at startup.

In safe mode, you can remove the drivers and then start again under windows with the drivers passed then perform updates and see if they play with them right here.

Please let me know how things are going.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • VM and SAN bottle neck issue?

    Hi all

I would like to see an Exchange 2007 server and an Exchange 2007 Edge server, but I am concerned about the saturation of my to the San fiber connection.  I guess the best way to ask this question will be to give an example.

You have a system blade with 3 blades in it.  All 3 blades running ESX 3.5 in a clustered with HA, DRS, Vmotion, VC, etc environment and connect to a San, which has a giant lun configuration in a RAID 10 for the data store for your ESX servers

Now, if your Word to say running 4-8 another Vm in this current configuration and 2 more than the virtual computer with Exchange 2007 and Exchange Edge server now turn my question is, the disk i/o or optical fiber connection can be a bottle neck? and if so how do you control ESX to define what VM has the priority on disk i/o or for the creation of fiber paths?

My second question is that best practice Microsoft recommends that you install Exchange 2007 in any of 3 sets of discs.  C:\ for installation files, hard E:\ drive F:\ for the database and transaction logs.  This is recommended as an increase in speed as readers do not have to look far to find the necessary information for the constant questioning is Exchange.  Now in a virtual environment connected to a lun giant machine, 3 creating separate virtual disks recommend or add any increase in speed, or would it be better to just create a giant virtual disk (drive C:\) and leave such as, like its all on the same SAN / Lun.

    (1) I see that fiber media would be a bottle neck, your disk IO can be subseptable to a neck of the bottle.  It depends on your San and what other kinds of virtual machines you already use on your logic unit number.  We have divided our SAN LUN ~ 1 to 1.5TB to be able to put our servers to heavy disk i/o on different LUNS to spread the load.  We run our server as well as a strong virtual appliance in front of it and we haevn can't seen any problems with our FC SAN, and that runs on fiber 2Gig

    (2) I would always break it down into 3 files vmdk, just so that you always treat is as a 'physical' server and follow best practices.  Another advantage to this is if you need to expand the space, its much easier to develop a file vmdk non-OS is to extend the OS vmdk file.  Performance wise that you could always get better performance from their split.

  • G7-2017us Pavilion: laptop computer is hot and the fan is noisy

I have windows 7. 64 bit. I noticed that the laptop gets very hot and the fan makes noise. Try to solve this problem I went the HPSA. It shows that I have no update necessary; However when I go to the HP site and I ask him to identify my system it shows a lot of updates pending. This is why I need help with 2 questions, one the heat generated and the second on the updates. I also checked, and it shows that I have the latest version of the Support Assistant. The updates are all from 2016 and 2 refer to the BIOS.

I'm not well informed on the issues, any help will be appreciated

The update of the BIOS F.26 is important because of security concerns. The change log States:

'Provides security improved for UEFI EDK2

HP strongly recommends transition immediately to this BIOS update. »

It will not hurt to delete the sp66805 folder. I suggested it because it confuses you with the process of downloading/installation asking you to replace it.

You could try to change of name, it will probably work.

I bought a new laptop and can't seem to connect to WIFI at home and have dealt with many parts to get resolved nothing doesn't. Here is some key information:

    (a) laptop can connect via Ethernet to the modem Vodafone (the model is HG556a)

    (c) other PC and the device at home working on WIFI

    (d) the WIFI network adapter is Qualcomm Atherros QCA9565 802.1b/g/n

The laptop detects the network, and I am asked to enter the key and it trys and advise network not available at this time.

I looked to see if the adapter works fine in Device Manager (and assumed all good). There is no upgrade is recommended

With advice from HP support I was through many loops, tests, and trials, restart modems, etc., included in the present was check it on the site of HP on the recommended drivers/updates, and downloaded a new driver
