VWIC3 - straight-through cable, RJ48C or both?

Hello

In the past I have worked with VWIC1 or 2 and I only had used to use RJ48 pinout to bind telco point of access to map of voices of the Cisco (as written here).

Today, I got to play with a VWIC3, and my companions told me that I must not use RJ48, RJ45 right will be enough...

  • is this true?
  • Where can I find the official documentation?
  • Is that a RJ48C might also work on VWIC3?
  • For previous VWIC, is that the right RJ45 could work too?

Thx again!

Greg

Greg,

I've always used directly through RJ45 and it works. Never used RJ48

-Can we send active active traffic using straight through the topology with using VPC at end of server.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Farhad,

Please see below links where you can find more information on the topologies of vPC straight through, active and improved.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/switches/Datacenter/nexus5000/SW/mkt_ops...

I don't think that you would be able to send the active traffic just by using straight through topology. You can use VPC and bind the 2 straight through aircraft spread over 2 switches sheets for active traffic however.

Please find the link as well, where are the topologies supported between Nexus devices and fex below.

  • Laptop can connect wirelessly, but not through cable utp to the internet. Help!

I tried to connect my computer laptop windows 7 to the internet using a utp cable. Unfortunately, without success. Works with wireless, but in my dorm, I cannot use internet via cable. I tried to turn off the wireless, but that did not work either the comouter does not recognize that the cable is already connected. Please help me solve this problem.

Thanks for your help in advance! :)

I would check the cable carefully.  Sometimes, some of the wires are loose from the plug.  See if the laptop can connect to cables in other places.  If possible, the problem is with the cable and not on your computer.

    Good luck.

  • VHDCI to VHDCI DAQ cable

    Hi all

I need to connect our DAQ SMU-6368 maps to a personalized e-card.

Due to the dimensional constraints, we need to use VHDCI connectors to the custom Board.

Thre is a data cable for it?

We have seen that the SHC68-68EPM cable start with VHDI of data acquisition and end with a SCSI 68 pin on the other end.

We need a straight through cable in which both ends are VHDCI.

For boards of HS-DIO is available the NI SHC68-C68-D4 cable that meets our needs but, as I understand it, it is made specifically for HS-DIO and is not suitable for the use of data acquisition.

It is available on a good cable VHDCI-VHDCI DAQ of NOR?

    Thanks for your response

  • A700 + SSD

Well, it wasn't easy, the main culprit being crappy A700 BIOS configuration utility.

If you are thinking to replace the optical on your IdeaCentre A700 disk drive like I did here is what I learned that could be useful to know before you start.

    • First, the BIOS does not boot to a HD/SSD connected to the OD SATA port. It will boot fom an OD, but not HD/SSD. Maybe the W7 Installer allows the boot manager must be installed on the bootable hard disk and Windows files on another not bootable but it was a disappointment for me, because I didn't reinstall the OS.
    • If you think no problem, "I'll trade just on the MB SATA cables"... think again. The development of SATA ports and the length of the cable SATA OD does not allow for it, so you will need a slimline SATA extension cable.
    • On the side of MB HD cable is straight, and the Division of the OPPOSITION is an angle. When exchanging, the extra height of the straight cable will not allow for the lid of metal shield EM fits correctly. There are also short SATA cable with angular connectors on both sides.

OK, in the end my A700 is the QuickStart and works well with a new SSD 64 GB-boot/OS.

Does not seek to put the conspiracy theories here, but one thing comes to mind... "defective by design". Lenovo please prove I'm wrong and get out an update of the decent BIOS for the A700.

Wow, that's old enough... Let me do some research.

I can tell you my A700 is still work and boot from SSD (ad. fingers crossed

Replace with the SSD HARD drive was out of the question at this time because I could only afford a 64 GB one. Maybe these days I could have gone that route and simply replace it with a 512 GB one.

So, Yes, swapping the cables on the side of the motherboard worked, but it was a bit of a pain. I'll show you why:

Click here to see the image

It is a picture of my A700 MB before adding the SSD. I don't shoot any pictures after the change, sorry. The black cable (upward) goes to the 3.5-inch HARD drive, and Red (bottom) goes to the slot load optical drive. That boot you from the SSD won't let the BIOS if it is connected to the SATA ODD port, you will need to connect the black cable to the SATA port bottom... but as a straight through cable, it will fall into the EMI Shield when you try to put it back together. You need a cable to this end. As I learned this too late, I simply took a knife and removed the connector on the cable of some plastics so he would get just enough, but not to try with your)<>

Well, now for the red cable... the problem with this one was that it was too short. You can see from the photo that the cables are connected, but the SATA ports are reversed... Let's say a points upwards and the other downwards, to red in the upper hole cable, it had to be rotated, so length was the issue here, but I have already one at hand:

It's just a slimline sata cable extension, like the caddy that I had bought for my SSD had this type of connector.

Well, it's done. Just put it all together again and it booted OK (of course, I had cloned the HARD disk in the front SSD). It has been a while, but my A700 still works very well, I have even upgraded to Windows 8 and boots within 10 seconds after pressing the power button.

For some reason, I still love this machine. A beautiful design with good ideas and great care, but marred by an implementation of shit and the absolute lack of support from its manufacturer.

Hope you will find this is useful. Good luck.

  • BEFSR41v2 hub switch

I read a lot of posts online and think that I have figured this out, but I just want to know that. It seems that I am not not alone trying to do... I have a BEFSR41v2 and have since upgraded to a wireless router. Now, I need a hub and have read that I can disable DHCP in the BEFSR41 and use it as a hub. If I understand correctly what I read, I hang the cable from my current wireless router in the port of uplink on the BEFSR41 and then have correct 4 ports available for expansion without using the WAN port - making that noise? Also - is that what I should have the router (now configured as a hub) defined to obtain the IP address automatically, set a static IP address or what? Finally - the firmware is the original firmware 1.42.7 (April 2, 2002) and I've read where people have problems after the firmware update. Should I update the firmware? Thanks in advance for any help.

    In response to your questions:

    (1) the difference between a hub and a switch, it's when a hub receives a data stream, it broadcasts this stream to all the computers to which it is connected and the correct (receiving) computer realizes that the data are designed for it, so he picks up this flow, while other computers realize that the data stream is not for them While they ignore the flow.  A hub is limited to "a connection" at the same time.  A 10/100 hub would be a maximum bandwidth of 100 Mbps.

A switch can make multiple connections at the same time, with all the ports running in both directions.  If a switch 8 ports can be up to 4 simultaneous connections to 100 Mbps in each direction, for a total bandwidth of 800 Mbps.  The key is that a switch can handle more traffic at the same time without having your data "bump heads", happening in your network.

Because a switch costs only a few dollars more than a hub, I usually just buy switches.

    (2) when you use the Uplink port, you cannot also use port 1, because these two ports are directly connected.  The only difference between the Uplink port and port 1 is that two of the sons are reverse connected.   Port 1, 2, 3 and 4 normally communicate with each other through the firmware of the router (or switch), no direct wiring.  So normally the firmware controls the "switch" that is occurring.

    (3) you questions on a 'faster' switch    The data transfer speed is limited by the slowest links in any connection.   Note that a compressed high definition signal (the signal recorded by DVR) TV is probably only 6 Mbps or less.  If your DVR probably only has a port 10/100 on it.    If your DVR has a gigabit port to this topic, then you can consider a gigabit switch, but otherwise stay with a 10/100 switch.  The only time where a gigabit switch is beneficial, it is when two computers (or other devices) that are connected to the it are the sharing of data, and both devices can process data at speeds more than 100 Mbps.

    (4) if the SD208 a lack of ports, you must consider the SD216 (16 ports), or cascading two switches SD208, or a SD208 more the BEFSR41 (converted to a switch).  Yes, you can mount two switches cascaded in a row.

    (5) all your ethernet cables should be standard (straight through) cables.  All routers and the modern switches have ports "auto detection", meaning that they automatically cross the cable necessary for the system to work, so ADJUSTABLE uplink ports, and cables are no longer necessary.  This is why the switches, such as the SD208, do not have an Uplink port.

    (6) the switches I talked of should work with your Netgear router.

Can someone please give me a tip that I did wrong?

    Thanks in advance!

What type of cable you use to connect to the host with the sensor?

You are using a crossover cable?

Ports 10/100, a crossover cable is required for the connection of 2 guests.

When you plan the wiring, remember that the IDS-4215 acts as a host to end (like routers) instead of a switch or a hub.

Normally the switch or hub is the crossover inside a straight through cable is used when connecting a host to a switch or hub. BUT when connecting a host to a host (or sensor or router) the cross on must be on the outside using a cross over cable.

If you already use a crossover cable, the next thing to determine is if there is a problem with the speed and duplex negotiation.

You could try hard coding the host and the sensor to use 100 Mbps Full Duplex. BU hardcode both sides, you won't have to worry about auto-negotiation.

NOTE: If you use the 10/100/1000 on the host and the sensor interfaces you probably could use a straight cable. When neogiating 1 Gbit/s, network cards can detect the difference between a straight line through and cross over cable and adjust to use types in most cases.

BUT most of the 10/100 interfaces generally do not have this capacity and require a cross on the cable when connecting from host to host.

  • Ethernet on external device with static IP address

I'm trying to connect my external station of development (Visual Studio in Windows XP/Fusion on my Mac) for Windows CE device through an ethernet cable crossed for the CE - device debugging.

This forces me to set a static IP address on the external device and the development station.
Both must be on the same subnet. How can I do this?
I tried to use the Bridged (ethernet) mode on the network card and set up a static IP address in windows XP. I also created another static IP address in OSX. Looking at the IP/ethernet side traffic OSX (using Wireshark), messages from the external device IT appears, but glancing Wireshark in merger/Windows XP, I don't see them.
Am that I on the wrong track here with the Bridged mode?

First of all you shouldn't have to use a crossover cable as Ethernet adapter of the Mac must Auto-Sensing and automatically process the cross above a straight through cable. (At least this is so on my Mac.)  Secondly, I would not give the host a IP road-able and only set the IP in the - CE device and virtual machine with no gateway/DNS IP address. When you use a NIC jumpered in the Virtual Machine.

On the host if the Ethernet adapter using DHCP then you will have to wait for it to expire and get a 169.254.0.0/16 address IP or if you want an answer more quickly then manual assign a 169.254.0.0/16 IP address for the host's Ethernet card.  In this way communication is directly between the - CE device and virtual machine using VMware Bridge Protocol.

If you do what the host itself to have connectivity in this loop, then of course assigns an IP address appropriate with no gateway/DNS IP address.

    Example of IP address Configuration

    CE-IP address: 192.168.3.1/24

    Address Virtual Machine IP: 192.168.3.2/24

The IP address of the host: 169.254.0.0/16 or 192.168.3.3/24

No gateway/DNS on any IP address.

  • Card problem NETWORK M30, exchange of memory + HDD replacement

    Hello
The first problem is with the network card in my laptop. It seems to work OK in windows (it looks fine in Device Manager, I can change settings etc) but it doesn't recognize any cable. I must say that I have enough experience on the networks. I tested the two straight through and crossing of the cables that work in other systems. I connected to a switch with a straight through cable, but don't see the network card. No. led flashes on the card (before he did)... nothing. It says "disconnected network cable" on the status bar. If I use a usb instead, with the same parameters and cable network card, everything is I checked the card using a cd live linux. It can identify the map, but I can't ping it and of course it is not regognise no cable.
I'm 99% sure that it's a hardware problem. It is covered by the limited warranty of 2 years, right? The main question is: is the card integrated on motherboard of the laptop? Should I change motherboard too, in order to correct the network card?

The second "problem" is a memory module. I checked with utility of a toshiba who said that the ram is faulty. Toshiba service sent me information for the Exchange since 09.11.2004 with the State shown above:
    Current status - Description
Announcement - gathered information on the unit and the customer and the service center was informed. The unit did not here yet.

Can someone help me with this? I'm looking for when the module will be available? I can't be based on a faulty ram memory!

And one last question. I would like to change my hard drive for a faster. I can change it myself or it will cause a problem with the warranty?

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi sub,.

You're right about the guarantee. Your machine is trembling warranty of 2 years. If the network card is faulty it can not be changed separately. You need to change the motherboard. Be careful with warranty. Do not change the only hardware components. You can lose it.

In your case, there are a few hardware problems. In my opinion the best way is to contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. Visit this link

    Hi James,

If you connect your GPIB-ENET/100 directly to your computer, be sure to use a crossover ethernet cable.  I am attaching a link to an article in the knowledge base that explains the difference between a crossover cable and a straight through cable.  This article should also help you to determine if you are currently using the right cable if you are uncertain as to what type you have.  Please let me know if it helps!  Have a great day!

What are the differences between a Standard category 5 Ethernet cable and a crossover cable?

Check what type of cable you are using. It requires a null-modem cable, but if you use it, try a straight through cable. The manual should specify the type of cable.

  • Lack of Z - 400 serial port

    Hello

    I have a number of product Z-400 SG637UC #ABA

Just updated to the latest version of the BIOS, was 1.17, I think.

Manual maintenance and each user's guide I can find a reference to the serial port header (15-pin) construction which

    My motherboard has.

However, I can't understand how to turn it on.  The security settings of the Bios do not list the serial port, and the Advanced Settings tab lists only the floppy drive and not the serial port.

Are the parties other than the header not installed on the motherboard on this particular product number?

Do not connect the pins of the rider 2 header and tell the BIOS the material is there?

PIN 12 of the 15-pin header is labeled 'detect the com' on page 168 of the Z-400 maintenance manual.  I do not think it is a standard pins for communications series name.  Is it being stretched up or down to activate the port?

I don't particularly want to spend money for the "2nd serial" material, when the first serial port is not working.

    Thanks for any help.

    PM

    AP_M,

The Z400 has a 2 x 8 serial port header, you have found.  To access the serial port, one needs the HP, the PA716A Option kit serial port adapter.  This kit, described here, has a small PCB attached to a PCI card and cable to the PCB of the card mother Z400.  This PCB contains the RS232 serial port transceiver integrated circuit, so it is necessary to make the serial port work - a straight through cable from the motherboard to a will of connector serial port not working, to not try.

Option kit that pa716a can be ordered as an option Z420.  The kit is not listed for the Z400, but the Z400 (and many other HP computers) use the same kit.

    To answer your technical questions:

-IIRC, Windows requires masking devices that are not accessible.  That's why the serial port does not appear in the device without this option installed kit Manager.

-12 axis, as you can imagine, is a "detect the com' which tells the system that the serial port kit is installed.  He is shot down (the Earth) when the cable attached to the motherboard.

-If you want to experiment and see if the serial port becomes active, turn off the Z400, then put a jumper between the P52 12 serial port connector pin and ground.  Soil is on pins 8 and 7.  (The pins are numbered with strange pins on one side (row) and evens on the other kind of pin 2 pin 1 opposite.)  To determine which line is even or odd, pin 16 is the last pin and the missing key on the 'same' line).

Then turn on the system.  After the Earth axis 12, the serial port should appear in the BIOS settings and certainly in the windows.

    * I think this is how it works, I have tried for a long time. **

    Does that answer your questions?

  • Networking error

I have a desktop computer and a laptop, with Vista 64 bit. A few days ago that I had a virus problem on the laptop for which I restore the system to a return date. After that, I had tried several times to get this system connected to home networking as before but without success. I tried the USB transfer to network key on the desktop, reset the entire network on routers and then through to run cmd and other guidelines (winsock2) from the microsoft Web site. The connection says limited or local connectivity. In addition, my home network is configured as private but during playback on laptop, it says public. I tried to connect a straight-through cable to router but the same questions. All of the suggestions.

I was not able to connect to internet from my laptop. So I downloaded office fixit and transferred via USB key. I noticed the minor change that now after the physical connection by LAN cable, I was able to connect to internet, but always wireless did not work. I tried to go into the registry, but is stuck in the last step did not any changes. In addition, somewhere on the microsoft Web site, I used the option to reset TCP/IP. Finally, went back to basics, deleted all of the network connections, restored the default router and reinstalled everything back. Checked the wireless in unsafe mode default mode and then adjusted the parameters for a secure wireless network. Now I see that my two units work very well. I intend to download fixit on my desk too in case I need in the future.

    Thanks for your help.
