WAP4410N-wall access point?

Hello everyone,

I have a small question about the WAP4410N access point.

Is it possible to get this access point to a wall or ceiling?

Are there tiny "holes" in the back of the access point for editing?

Or is there a 'fixing' to this access point?

I already read the technical sheets and documentation related to this access point, but found nothing.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards

Kevin

Hi Walter,

Yes... .it can be fixed to the wall

  • Set up home network of multi access point

Recently, I cut the string so to speak with directv and is passed to a streaming cable through view PlayStation. However this left me with a little slower network I want to. I have a 3-storey house in a crowded area and my cable modem is on the lower floor.

Currently, I have a linksys ea3500 connected to a modem cable in the basement. I have a family room on floor 2, where I connected PlayStation. On the third floor, I have a Roku in the bedroom for live tv broadcast and also a Home Office.

I can work around 70mbps down when connected via Ethernet to the ea3500 on the ground floor, but a signal wirelessly on the second floor is about 25mbps down and falls to 15 or so away on the third floor.

I ordered a new router (wrt 1900ACS) and also a netgear powerline 1200 kit. My plan is to connect the line adaptor to the ea3500 and place another line on two ground adapter. To which I would link the wrt 1900 and run as an access point for the existing network. I would also link the PlayStation to the wrt1900 through cat 5 to improve the reliability of the connection.

My hope is that this will greatly increase my speed of download available in the House. We are connected fairy and at any time have probably 10 to 15 devices (tablets, phones, laptops, TVs, desktop, nest, etc.)

Given my current gear (and the warning that I won't have to run wires through the wall or through the vents) is the configuration I describe the best way to increase the signal strength and bandwidth bandwidth/speed? Does it matter if I use the new wrt 1900acs as a slave to the ea3500, since it will be connected via the power line to the ea3500 lan port? Should I just unplug the ea3500 and only use the 1900acs on the Middle floor and connect the power supply line direct adapter to the cable modem?

Any idea to my plan or recommended changes to my plan would be appreciated!

It's good then let the EA3500 and add the WRT1900ACS in via PowerLine Bridge Mode.

  • WRE54G canmot associated not with this access point in Repeater mode.

    Hello

Because of the concrete walls, I have a weak signal to use the WRE54G to extend my existing wireless network. However, I installed an Ethernet cable and found possible to connect the WRE54G access point. This is my extension of network is via a connection to an Ethernet cable. Is seems to work fine, it allows communications to the internet and shows a power good signal from a remote PC. But it works only in unsafe mode.

Although I tried to reset, and then follow the instructions to set up a new WEP or WPA encryption, the installation program recognizes the WRE54G, but does not allow me to save the configuration.

The error it says it is "WRE54G canmot not associate with this access point in Repeater mode.

    Help, please

Make sure your router's wireless settings and WRE are the same. Try changing the channel on your router, if your router's wireless channel is the default after the procedure, your WRE is unable to communicate with your wireless router.

  • Power level of the access point

I am running 7.0.164 WCS and series access point 1130 firmware 7.0.98.0.

I get a lot of complains about the students that their laptops do not get 5 bars signals.   They receive at least 1 or 2 bars with being disconnect the frequency.

Problem is that the 2 closest access points are power TX 2 level.   For the purpose of the test, I increase the level of tx power to 8 on access points and signals 5 portable bars, see the.

The dorm is 3 (2 rooms / 2 persons per room more bedroom bathroom and living room) suites by the wings. The walls are concrete.

I was told that using the custom for the TX power level setting is not recommended.

What are the solution to this problem?    Use the custom setting or what?

    Allen,

Your description of the problem that is absurd, especially considering that a power of 8 level is lower than the power level 2.

    If you do a ' show config ap 802. 11A '

    It will show you this

    TX power
Number of supported power levels... 5
TX 1 power level... 11 dBm
Power TX 2 level... 8 dBm
Power TX 3 level... 5 dBm
TX 4 power level... 2 dBm
    TX Power Level 5 dBm...-1
    TX power setting... Automatic
    Current Tx power level... 5

    If you do a ' show config ap 802. 11 b '

    It will show you this

    TX power
Number of supported power levels... 8
TX 1 power level... 20 dBm
Power TX 2 level... 17 dBm
Power TX 3 level... 14 dBm
TX 4 power level... 11 dBm
Power TX 5 level... 8 dBm
TX 6 power level... 5 dBm
TX 7 power level... 2 dBm
    TX Power Level 8...-1 dBm
    TX power setting... Automatic
    Current Tx power level... 8

So based on the fact that you said that Power Level 8 gives you a stronger signal is suspicious to say the least.

I hope this helps... Please evaluate the useful messages.

  • 1260 options antenna 5 GHz access point?

Scenario is, I have a huge warehouse. I want to use 1260 Access Points on the walls and ceilings. ceiling is 15 m high, and the brackets are 3 m high.

What band directional 5 GHz can I use? Is there a better option?

So far with little planning, I want to have directional antennas around the walls to direct the signal between the grids. I want to fill areas with ceiling mounted APs and antennas (ideally directional patches).

All advice would be warmly received.

    Hi Gary,.

You get a + 5 from me.  Thank you for this comment.  It is very, very useful.

Back to your question about directional antennas, you could use the AIR-ANT5140V and mount it on a wall.  I use the AIR-ANT5160V because you need to get the right height.  Take a look at the horizontal print and you will see.

  • Problem with SG-200 and access point on VLAN

I'm having some problems with the configuration of VLANS on the SG-200 and the WiFi access point. The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (1 PVID). If I plug it into one of the other VLAN then all clients connected to WiFi to lose access to the internet and can not access on the local VIRTUAL network devices. I've used this configuration with a Cisco WAP4410N of first generation.

I'm not sure if it's something wrong with the way I configured the switch or a problem with the access point.

    The setup I have is:

    Modem/router ADSL (7800N billion)

    Iain,

You have virtual local networks put in place on your router? The subnets that you use on each vlan? The router will give DHCP for each vlan?

The SG200 isn't a fully managed layer 3 switch, it's just a "smart switch" so you can not actually be able to do simply only switch. A sg300 mode layer 3 would be able to do this because it is a fully managed switch.

If the router is configured with the VLAN, vlan 1 unidentified, the rest the tag, the router-> SG200 port is trunking and the others as access ports on their vlan respective. Once the router is configured, this video contributor forum albums and Cisco employee David Hornstein is very useful to correctly configure the switch.

    Best,

    David

  • My Airport Time Capsule can act as a WIRELESS access point

    Hello.

I brought a Time Capsule with my Mac Pro. It worked well since yesterday.

I have set up the time Capsule as a WIFI, bypass at my local network access point. There is a router (cable) works at home.

It's my Mac Pro AirPort Utility and my iPhone, my Time Capsule is displayed with an exclamation point saying "device not found". I can't connect to the disk on this subject by afp share, or smb. Time Machine function is gone too. He failed trying to connect to the share drive from another computer connected to the time Capsule by cable network.

But at the same time, WiFi works well.

I tried to recycle energy. Sharing disk will be available. But if I start the Time Machine backup, it will not be a few seconds.

    Any idea?

    Thank you.

There are several posts here related the issue.

Luckily, you have set up your new Time Capsule for Back to My Mac (BTMM)?

If so, the 'temporary' solution is to delete/disable the option of the CCMM, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the base and then station, select change.
    • On the tab of the Base Station, go back to the section of my Mac at the bottom of the window.
    • If you have entries here, select it and click then the minus sign "-" button to remove it.
    • Click on update and allow the base station restart.

If you have not enabled CCMM, we have other options for you to try.

  • Do I need an additional access point to use my iPod touch for audio books? It's using iOS 9.3

Do I need an additional access point to use my iPod touch to listen to audio books.  The iPod is on iOS 9.3 and my iMac on OS 10.11.4.  I can get the books from the library using the OverDrive Media Console software, then by moving the iTunes audio book using 'add to library '.  Then, it presents itself in music and can be downloaded from there to the iPod.  The audio book also appear in the section music from iPod.  The problem is, most of the time, no list of book sections appear on the iPod and the iPod plays sections in random order instead of sequentially.  I can't find anything in the guide of the user on audio books.

Can you import into your application iBooks on Mac and then sync it with your iPod?

  • Stor.E access point stops working after a few seconds

Bought a Stor.E wireless adapter and followed the instructions but after turn on the unit by connecting to USB power usage provides cables, access point WIFI disconnects after 4 or around seconds.
    1. I connect to usb power
    2. the indicator flashes in green and stays on
    3. wireless light turns green and stay on, turns off after a few seconds

Managed to connect using the mobile app several times, while its sequel, but given that the WIFI point disconnects, can't use it.

    Any thoughts?

    1. I connect to usb power

Stor.e wireless adapter must be connected to the power supply and the other end to the external HARD drive.

Then, you can use the application to access the wireless content.

  • Time Capsule bridge and access point?

    Hello

I have a question about the network wireless of my TC. Our provider has installed a new router. These router can not work as bridge, telephone and TV are also connected to this router. Because 2 wifi networks do not work, I wonder what is the best set-up for the network? The Capsule is connected to the router by ethernet. It is configured as a gateway. Before I used the TC to connect to internet. Now, I have disabled the wi - fi function and use the ISP connection. It looks good, only backups are a little slow now.

-What is the best configuration for the TC in an existing network? So that I can put it off the wireless of the TC or the ISP router: can I use the TC-wifi (create a new network) or wifi existing ISP router to connect with wireless devices?

-Do I lose speed when I'm with 2 devices on my network: TC as the ISP as a router and Access Point.

(I always thought that 1 unit for router and access point is the best configuration.)

-Are faster backup copies using the TC wireless or it does not matter when I backup on the wireless ISP?

Some maybe stupid questions, but thanks in advance. Greetings.

Because 2 wifi networks do not work

Many people think that this is the case... but this isn't so.

You can use several wireless networks... all attached to the same router. There is enough bandwidth available in the channels wireless for the operation of 3 different wireless networks nearby each other... and using 5 GHz adds much more.

The Capsule is connected to the router by ethernet. It is configured as a gateway. Before I used the TC to connect to internet. Now, I have disabled the wi - fi function and use the ISP connection. It looks good, only backups are a little slow now.

The configuration of TC in bridge is correct.

Do not turn off the TC wireless... Provide a different name for the ISP wireless router and connect your computer... then you can get internet and make backups on the TC without overloading the ISP router wireless.

-What is the best configuration for the TC in an existing network? If I disable the wireless of the TC or the ISP router:

Turn on Wi - Fi in both.

A physical configuration, it is recommended to have say separation of 1 M (3 feet) between the ISP router and the TC to a min. But it would be even better to have the TC at near the Mac who performs backups TM and related to the ISP router with ethernet.

  • Use WAN connected airport Time Capsule as a wireless access point

I had to replace a failed 4 Gen Time Capsule. I tried to install a new Gen 5 airport TimeCapsule via WAN and set up the airport to act as a wireless access point. It is installed in an area of my house with wireless coverage. In the network of AirPort Utility Mode section, I chose "extend a wireless network. The TC is restarted, I get an error message cannot find the intended wireless network.

    What I lack?

"Extend a wireless network" is a parameter that is only used if the time Capsule need to connect to another router from Apple with the help of a Wi-Fi connection.

You use Ethernet to connect, you must use the parameter to "create a wireless network. Use the same wireless network name and the same password as your "primary" router

  • Satellite P875 - 32L - is unable to reconnect to the last connected WIFI access point

I have a problem to reconnect to the last connected WLAN provider, with my Satellite P875 32 L.
WLAN is switched on and shows all the neighbors access points, but it fails to whoever I logged before the reboot, or before you go to the rescue of the list.

I'm going in service options for WLAN, sometiimes up to 5 times, then it undermines meet usually.
    It's well annoying.

I have had this with the other 30 satellite of P870 too, but something so this behavior have disappeared. So there must be a solution.

    Hello

You're talking about your private Wlan at home?
If you had the same problem using another laptop too, it could be possible that this isn't a problem with the network s laptop wireless card or Wlan configuration but with the WLan router.

You should definitely reset/reboot the rooter.
In addition, check the settings of the IP router and or mac address filtering.
Change also the type of encryption and Wlan channel.

You have to try different combination turn off just to test the WiFi encryption and check if the laptop would connect to the Wlan open correctly.
But the Wlan encryption must always be defined in order to avoid improper use of the Wlan access point.

  • Problem with access point or wireless adapter

    Hello world

tried to connect to my WiFi, but the convenience store detects that the problem with access point or wireless adapter.
The drivers are up-to-date and functioning normally. There were discussions on BIOS but I don't know if I would be able to complete the task without bricking your laptop.

    Is there any online support?

    Hi smert

Your message is not really useful.
Why? Because no one knows all the details of the laptop, wireless network card system...
So please would you be kind enough to provide more details.

But despite the missing information, I recommend:
    (1) reset your router WLan
    (2) check the connection to the WiFi unsecured. (of course for testing purposes)
    (3) check the different (WPA/WPA2 AES, TKIP) encryption

I updated the drivers from v7.7.0.288.0. It's the latest and probably the last pilot found in archive of drivers for the A200 support.

    4. share the internet connection button.
