WAP54G Repeater, which router mode?

I have two WAP54G that I used to set that repeaters, but then I had to change my router to a WRT120N... But then I discovered only works with WRT54G Repeater mode, so I had to buy another.
I bought a WRT54GH.

I was not able to repeat the operation successfully with this router. This is what happens to be WRT54GH will not be repeated like the WRT54G? So which router do I need? If I didn't change my router, how to repeat the signal?

Thank you.

Yes. You can use WAP54G and connect directly to the modem to provide a wireless connection. Then, try to repeat the WAP54G signal rather than the signal from WRT54GH. I think WAP54G can repeat if connected with WAP54G wireless signals.

  • Using a WAP54G as a Repeater for router E2500

I have E2500 Wireless N router that I bought recently to replace a cheapie netgear that I lent to the family. The router is in the basement near a bunch of metal ducts and I live near a radio station, which I believe is killing my signal. in any case, I was able to pick up a WAP54G wireless access point. I would use it as a wired Repeater (if all goes well for the signal upwards in the upper levels of my home). Can I use the WAP54G with the E2500? I looked in the settings page when I tried to set up as a Repeater, and he says he will only connect with another WAP54G or a WRT54G (linksys g wireless router).

The installation program to use the WAP54G as access point wireless, with a connecting cable between the WAP54G and your router is fairly simple.

The default IP address a WAP54G is 192.168.1.245.

If your router is the default address 192.168.1.1, you can direct cable connect the WAP54G to the router.

Then open a Web browser and access the WAP54G its default address 192.168.1.245, password "admin".

If everything succeed insofar as you can leave the WAP54G default LAN settings.

Just adjust the settings wireless to your wishes: set an SSID, unique and different, then your router, set a channel, unique and different, and then your router, set the type of wireless security and the sentence of past (I suggest the same thing as your router).

On the password tab, you set your own password to access the WAP54G for future configuration.

Everything else can be left by default.

Power cycle the WAP54G after all your changes, you should now be able to wireless connect to the SSID WAP54G and its own wireless security settings and you should have access to the Internet through the WAP54G.

  • WAP54G - Repeater mode

    Hi all!

I tried to "repeat" a Lynksys WRT120N Router(ver. 1.0.01 G-mode only) using WAP54G Access Point(ver. 3.04) as repeaters. Is it possible in general because I had no luck so far?

    Thank you in advance!

    Momchil

Well it is not possible to make your WAP54G work in Repeater with WRT120N router mode. WAP54G will work only with the WRT54G Router Repeater mode.

  • ASA 5510 - possible to fill the 2 interfaces in routed mode

Cisco ASA 5510 with security more license, version 9.1 (5) running in routed mode.

I want to fill two interfaces for example: eth0/2 and 3/eth0 and configure an IP address / network while leaving the ASA 5510 in routed mode. I know that this is possible in transparent mode, but I need to keep this in routed mode. I know I could configure a single interface and connect a switch but my client does not want to do.

Otherwise, my only thought would be to configure each interface eth0/2 and eth0/3 as a network traffic and the route of subnet separate between the two.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

That would help us answer you better if we understood more about what your client and you want to accomplish. But to answer the specific question you asked, I don't think it is possible in an ASA5510 in routed mode configuration Eth2 and Eth3 to share a single IP address.

Linking to Eth2 and linking to Eth3 Are they really the same subnet?

  • ASA 5505 in router Mode can implement the MAC ACL

    Hi all:

My client request can the Cisco ASA 5505 implement MAC ACL in Cisco ASA 5505, who is now running in router Mode.

    Can anyone help answer this?

I tried to search the document and also tried the ASDM in the Cisco ASA 5505 but couldn't see a way to do the ACL by MAC address.

At the same time can also help me find the command line using the ASA 5505 able to run MAC ACL in router mode?

    Thank you very much!

    Warm greetings,

MAC ACL is not supported in Routed mode, only in Transparent mode.

Here is the command for your reference:

  • Problems with getting WAP54g repeat (extend) wireless network

At one of our offices, we have a Cisco ASA5505 firewall that has dhcp active. I have a WRT54G Router plugged into this active firewall with DHCP. The scope of our internal network is 192.168.51 *, but when it is connected to the WRT54G, it gives you the scope of 192.168.1. * We have an antenna amplifier screwed into one of the ports on the router antenna. This configuration all works very well.

The problem is to install a WAP54G access point in a building on the property (picks up the signal fine wireless router) to repeat the signal wireless at the rear of the property where the router will not reach. I've read that all you have to do is type the routher wireless mac address in the access point and select "wireless Repeater". I have the channels set to 6 on both devices as well as the same security configuration. When I try to connect to the network wireless access point, it never gives me an ip address in the scope 192.168.1. *, that the WRT54G is configured to give. Anyone know what could be the problem?

In addition, in this configuration should the WRT54G be defined on the router or gateway mode? I didn't need to distribute ip addresses

Here are the ip addresses and the data of each unit

    Cable modem-->

    Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall - 192.168.51.1-->

WRT54G - IP address of the router - 192.168.1.1, however it uses DHCP and the ip address and the gateway he uses for the internet are of the order of 192.168.51. *-->

    WAP54G - 192.168.1.245

Any help would be appreciated, I might even make a phone call. Thank you

I got it. I was working with security personal WPA2 on both devices. I removed the security completely and both devices connect then. I then used to fix, WEP. The two devices communicate with WEP.

I have a netgear router and a modem/router of calix. I want to say as a modem. I called my ISP and they are no help. I have connected to the gateway and I have experience with the network settings. How can I put it in the modem settings, strictly without the help of my ISP? Thank you

  • How to ensure the backup of Windows 7 starts and runs until the end on a laptop which is mode standby, or could be put in mode 'sleep' when the lid is closed.

    Hello

Many of us with laptops with Windows 7 would like to ensure that, when a Windows backup is scheduled, it starts successfully and goes to full completion, regardless of whether the phone is first 'sleep', or if the user of the laptop close the lid of the laptop, which would normally the laptop mode 'sleep'. In other words, how to backup Windows or Windows 7 be configured to wake from mode "sleep" and prevent it from sleep mode, when a backup is scheduled and actively running?

I saw a way to schedule a task that will wake the computer, but I'm looking for something more intelligent than that. I'm looking to see if Microsoft has already thought this through and allow you to pre-configure operating system such as we have no additional installation software.

  • Router mode in RV042G

Is there documentation on setting fashion RV042G router and change that to its topography? The manual tells simply click on the button to change the mode! 4th grade student could understand that - but what is his role in the unit? It essentially becomes a glorified with Internet switch? The 2nd WAN port can be used as a switch node? Is there a white book somewhere that gives this info? I looked for hours.

  • Which router is the most stable and the most suitable?

    Hello

I have a Linksys Switch (Gigabit) connected to various materials in my small business via CAT7. Everything turns end network; wait in line ISDN BRI, which currently gives me only 12 Mbps download. I also connect the router to a VOIP to ISDN gateway which i sconnected to my internal PBX which I assume provides a load on the router.

Unfortunately my RVS4000 (firmware v1.3.2.0) simply keeps now hung and I spent a lot of time trying to understand why and I'm close to simply replace the router (as the loss of time is less than the cost of a new device).

Please can someone advise a suitable router with a firewall, which is VERY stable (+ 99.9% time)? I want to stay in the world of cisco/linksys here I first looks for a solution.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions of experts. If someone is overjoyed with their router then please let me know.

BTW - I have no Wifi as the router is in a small data center with Wifi does simply not apart of as the walls are 60cm thick. A wired router is sufficient.

    Best regards

    Mark

  • Which router to < 10 users?

    Hi all

I was wondering what would be the best IOS router for remote sites with fewer than 10 users?

Our remote sites need to connect to the central site 1 (star topology +) and at the moment we have about 4 remote sites. Most sites use Comcast Business Service (up to 50down/10up). We do not want to use the SAA, we would rather routers with integrated services.

We want to connect all via the L2L IPSEC Tunnels and all spoke to communicate fully, but also with the VPN Clients. Our current Hub is a dry ASA5505 +, but we can be out in the near future for a Cisco 2901 router. We are looking for rock solid reliability, so if it's never going to the internet, the VPN will be arrived upward when the internet is back (a problem that we had in the past).

I need as much as possible suggestions for our routers to Remote Site, so we can look over the options for the needs of our network!

    Thanks in advance!

L2TP and IPSec is bread and butter for Cisco. All you have to remember that for IPSec works, you must download the IOS that will allow encryption. Also you also have an option as to the amount of DRAM desired. It is preferable, in my view, to charge the maximum amount of DRAM to a router.

You can get the router of 1900 but this, in my view, would be an overdose.
