Read the description of the product.  If the site does not specify, either you make on another website or email/phone for more information.

Most webcams sold today should be compatible with Windows XP (sp2 or sp3), Vista and Windows 7.

Out of curiosity, what adapter USB wireless purchased which is not compatible with Windows XP?  "Did not work" does not necessarily mean ' not compatible with '-it is always possible to receive the defective hardware.

  • Older webcams do not work in windows 7. even in compatibility mode

Hello!  great to have a forum here to fix my problem!

I have an old Logitech QuickCAM Express V - UH9 that doesn't seem not detected by Windows 7 (64-bit).  Older drivers do not work in compatibility mode, and also auto-detection does not seem to find a driver to make it.  The software seems installs successfully but then again just to plug in my webcam (I tried all the usb ports I have on my computer).  I have another webcam which has the same problems (more detail).

I'm guessing that his could be a trend with the older webcams?

Help, please! I would like for my hardware work under win7... I had a pretty good luck with everything.

    Bravo and thank you!

  • Compatibility of Logitech Webcam

The Logitech Quickcam Webcam Chat list model No.: 961462-0403 as compatible Windows 7 64 bit.  I don't see anywhere that Logitech would agree with you.

Logitech Webcam Software (LWS) with Vid 1.1 x 64 seems to work,

    Model No.: 961462-0403
    M/N V-UBQ42
n/p 860-000168 is not listed as compatible.
I believe that this model is sold at Wal-Mart!
Do you think you and Logitech can get on the same page?
    Thanx

    Hello Fedora,

You are 100% correct that Logitech Quickcam Chat Webcam is compatible with Win 7. Visit this link:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/search.aspx?s=Logitech%20Quickcam%20Chat%20Webcam&OS=64-bit&type=hardware

You can try it for yourself by installing it on your computer windows 7. If it is not detected or does not behave as it was supposed to include then don't panic.

Try to install the device in compatibility mode for Vista or XP with Service pack of your choice.
    * Right click on the program executable (it ends with .exe), then click [Properties]
    * Click the [compatibility] tab to open the abc32. EXE property sheet.
    * Click on the [run this program in compatibility mode for:] box, and then select the operating system you want to invoke compatibility for the menu drop down.
    * Click [apply] then [OK] to exit the property sheet.

  • Qosmio G40 - no webcam with live Messenger

    Hello world

I installed Win 7 on my Qosmio G40 instead of Vista and everything work fine except the webcam that does not work with live Messenger (only) no matter what I do (I tried several drivers, re-installed Win messenger live, close some processes, etc ;) I get this error message:

'* Cannot start your webcam. "Check if it is not used by another program and retry."

What the hell can I do to fix this?

    Hello

I read a lot of discussions about the problems with webcam and messenger Ms.
The problem with Vista has been resolved by the SP1 from Microsoft Update.
Now, it seems to be that the same problem with Win 7 looks like a thing of compatibility

However, because the message says that the webcam is used by another application, I suppose that some background processes lock the webcam

You must remove webcam and messenger MS startup in msconfig.
After that, restart the laptop and don t start the webcam software if you want to use it in Messenger from Ms.

  • Chicony Webcam does not not on Satellite A350d Pro-202

    Specification of the system:

    Satellite a350d-202 Pro
    Windows 7 64 bit

I don't know if this is related but since I updated my laptop to Windows 7 my Chicony Webcam has stopped working. I tried all of the following conditions:
Complete refurbishment of my system from scratch.
    + Failed +.

    Safe installation Mode drivier
+ For some reason, it doesn't let me connect through safe mode. I get to the windows login screen and it restarts automatically after a few seconds. No explanation? Yet once again, rebuilt PC a few times. +

No webcam feature in Control Panel and of printers or of equipment devices.
+ Does not manually install drivers such as recommended. I do not see the webcam being recognized.

Half of closing the lid of the portable computer to hear it recognizing the camera or the new device.
+ Without success. This does not happen.

Essentially, I want to know if it is a problem of compatibility of Windows 7 or a technical fault to Toshiba.

Anyway something OFFICIAL from Toshiba would be key here I was using the webcam for Web conferencing vital for work and now I can't.

Please provide any option or anything else I can try.

Suggestions of a value deeply. Including links, or other items, I may have missed

    Desperate to see a solution.

    Concerning

    Danny

    > No webcam feature in Control Panel and of printers or of equipment devices.
Manual install as recommended drivers does not work. I am not recognised webcam

The Chicony webcam must be listed in the device under the devices of Imagine option Manager. You should see entry USB video device.
    Who do you see?
If so, this delete in Device Manager and reboot the device.

Usually the Windows 7 should automatically recognize the cam and refresh the driver.
    Is this the case?

  • Satellite L300 - driver Open Webcam fail. Restart the computer or the camera

    Hello

I recently bought a new Satellite L300 under Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. The Webcam worked fine for a few days and then the next time I booted up Vista, I get the following error "Webcam driver open fail, please restart camera or computer. Since the computer is new I reformatted to see if it wasn t a program is blocking something.

Reformat 2 times and the error still ride on the installation of the Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba. I downloaded the update from Toshiba support file but still the same error. The funny thing is that the Device Manager does not detect even the webcam. There is no registration for the webcam. How will I know that it is a hardware problem? Does anyone have experience with this problem?

The store that I bought it offered to give me a new, but do not have any in stock, so I have to wait 3 weeks.

    Thank you

    Hello

The webcam must be listed in the Device Manager. It s not called not webcam but you should find it in the imagery of the devices-> USB video device

The webcam should work fine. Usually after installing the webcam software, you should find the webcam software in the MSCONFIG-> startup
If the webcam is listed here then that would mean that the software/driver webcam still load during a laptop boot procedure.

In some cases there could be a compatibility issue between this software and a 3rd party applications like MS messenger or Skype for example.

In your case, I recommend you to disable the webcam and other applications such as MS messenger or Skype software in MSCONFIG-> startup.
Then clean the BONES and the registry using the CCLeaner.

I also recommend the Vista update to the last State. All fixes and patches must be installed!

Finally if you want to use the webcam then you could start the software manually.
Exe file must be placed in Camera Assistant Software.

    Best regards

  • 3110 webcam: Webcam 3110 works is not from windows update 10

My 3110 webcam does not work since the upgrade of Windows 10. It stays on for a second when connected and can be seen in the Device Manager, but later buttons, lights, and functions do not work what so ever.

    Hi there @AUTOEMOTIONAL,

I hope you find your experience of positive Support Forum!  It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, HP experts and other support staff.  I understand that you are not able to use your webcam after upgrade to Windows 10 I am happy to help you with this.

You have another computer or device to test with the webcam to ensure it works normally again?

Looking at the page drivers and software Webcam HD - 3100 HP, there are not any drivers for Windows 10 or 8.x Windows at all. You could try to load the driver of Windows 7 by using compatibility mode in Windows 10. How: install and update drivers in Windows 10 -answers.microsoft.com

  • Driver webcam open fail on Satellite A305-S6872

    My problem is the following

I have a laptop A305-S6872 Satellite with a built-in webcam, I had to restore it with the cd provided with the laptop and I reinstalled the assistant webcam software and thought it was but it keeps saying "driver open webcam fail. Please restart camera or computer.

Does anyone know how to fix this

    Hi mate

This message might appear because of some problems of compatibility between the software of the webcam and the 3rd party software such as Skype, Live messenger, etc.

In your case I recommend you remove the software for the webcam of the Setup again.
Then clean the OS using CCLeaner.
After that, you could reinstall the webcam software and must clear the webcam software in msconfig--> startup.

This prevents the software from loading automatically.

  • Satellite P300D: Christophe sound using the webcam and MSN

I phoned the seller but don' t find and always telling me to put the system again.

I have the camera chicony and people and the realtek wireless card said that there is compatibility issue with msn.

Do you have an idea about this problem?

    Hello

Has your factory for laptop (Vista preinstalled original) settings?
Are the cam and microphone set up in MSN?

It is not easy to write on these issues. The fact is that several people have reported similar topic here in this forum. If you have time go to the advanced search options and try to find the wires on his and MSN.

  • Portege R600 and Webcam in Skype functionality

    Hello!

I tried to get the camera working on the Portege R600 within Skype.

I got it in the past, but he stopped and now I just get a black screen when I load the video in the settings. I tried specifying the default camera and also the chicony usb 2.0 camera two identical results of both. I updated to the latest version, earlier and removed and he readded in Device Manager. No luck.

Any ideas? Running fully patched Vista 32 bit

    Hello

I'm not very well why this happens, but I see that you use the Skype of m.
Some people have reported some problems with the webcam and 3rd party software like MS messenger and Skype for example. Both applications use the webcam also.

I think there could be a problem with software compatibility between the software/driver preinstalled webcam and the Skype/MS Messenger

You said that too that everything has worked in the past, as well, that would be really interesting to know if the problem would be persists using the laptop with the factory settings Toshiba and without a Skype or other additional software installation.

    Good bye

  • Satellite L500 - some problems with the internal webcam

    Hello.

My L500-13v is a little over a year old, but from the beginning, I'm having a lot of the built in ' USB 2.0 webcam» Sometimes it works, more often, is not, sometimes, I try to open the camera app and it says "device is locked by another application" despite not using any other application in time. When I try it on Msn or other applications, I just either get a black screen or "no device connected". I also get a pop up saying "this device can operate more quickly if connected to a hi speed usb 2.0 port" so I wonder if Toshiba have connected the camera of 2.0 to a 1.0 port internally, (at the time I thought not usb 1.0 was even used.) In Device Manager, it lists six standard usb host controllers and only two controllers to improved host 2.0). I used to always get that when I take the computer off the sleep mode. However I always stop instead of sleep, but its still a very regular, even when I use the cam, it can suddenly gives me this message and then stops working. Recently, when I click to open ""Toshiba Webcam Application"I get a blue screen saying"irql not less equal"which according to me is a hardware error." and then it auto restarts.

This laptop is preinstalled with vista, the webcam using a microsoft driver. I contacted toshiba about this problem last year, but they only told me to install the application driver 'web cam' on their site which I had already tried in safe mode and normal mode, I do not know why they give just a standard INF file. Vista will automatically pick up their driver and continues to try to reinstall the microsoft one, I finally managed to install the driver of toshiba by manually choosing Select a driver from the list, unchecking, show compatable drivers and finding Toshiba and PanGu, but after that, I still have the same problem.

I hope that someone more knowledgeable than me can help me with this, thanks.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest, I would also reinstall the webcam driver but maybe you did something wrong

So in your case I remove the current version of the webcam software and then restart your laptop. Now clean the registry using the freeware CCleaner tool which is a really nice tool to clean the system and delete the incorrect registry keys. After that, restart the computer and install the new software of the webcam of the official website of Toshiba.

Normally after this procedure your webcam should work properly again.
If this is not the case you should try a recovery facility, maybe something is blocking the the webcam driver who knows

  • Webcam not found by SKYPE running in a mobile HP6555b running W10 pro 64-bit

SKYPE ran fine under W7 pro 64-bit, but now that I've updated to W10 pro 64-bit SKYPE does not see the built-in webcam. The Device Manager shows the webcam under States that it works correctly and imaging devices. What should I do to make SKYPE see.

I went there where you said to go and download the driver package. I ran it and dxdiag and he is still also display ageneric. I'm sorry to say that SKYPE and W10 do not play well together and W10 seems to be still in version beta with all people who apply the upgrade. I give up and return to W7 where everything worked well.

Thank you for your efforts to try to solve my problem, but the compatibility between the software and the operating system and the hardware is just not there with W10.
