  Help, my computer has been set up on automatic updates-August 27, 2011 total 27 records updated. A being 2508958 KB Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and 25 other people who say security updates. All they wanted to do me was reformat and re install all the software again and make a copy of my data. I didn't do it. Then I upgraded me to supervisor and the same results. They said to call Microsoft, it was a Windows problem. Three hours and no help. I did not understand them and they could not understand me. Then I went to Microsoft again and dial the 1-800-831-9601 at 10:16 on August 30, 2011. They spoke of how they could help me and had me install some software so that they can take over and fix my computer. After one hour after the call, I was struck with 239.99 costs upward to fix my computer. They show me the files that need to come off and said it was the problem. At this point I was so much rest I said fix it and paid the money. Then they said to do, I have a laptop and I said yes and they said it was only a matter of time before the same thing happens to it. Again, I've been talking to spend another 239.99 and they took over my lap top working on both at the same time. They install some programs and said how it was during a time of lifting and it would fix everything. Well so far I didn't this problem with the laptop. But they want to try one thing after another and they was not able to set activate Windows now or later that was my only concern. After 22:30, they asked if they could call back Wednesday and finished. When this happens, I lost all of my Microsoft Office 2007 so it keep saying that the user could not give the right to use the program and it has not been found.   You can try to uninstall the update and try to hide the update which is at the origin of the problem.

  Unfortunately, this is probably what you're going to do, buy another copy of Windows (or another computer).  When Windows comes pre-installed on a computer, the Windows installation is allowed on this computer and cannot be moved to another.  In order to have a component to show up and say: "it is the computer that I came!", this component is the motherboard.  Now that yours has been replaced, the Windows license that came with the old motherboard is zero and cannot be used any longer.

  After reading a little in the part of Q and r of the info for the Activation Center, I saw a comment that reinstallation of an image of one disc on another can cause activation problem, because Microsoft is trying to stop software piracy by illegal imagery from one disk to another. For me, it was the source of my problem: I got stuck by Microsoft procedures to stop piracy - except that I was copying just the image of my old drive to my new.

  Anyway, I went to the repair shop where I got my new drive and it solved after returning from my product key, copy it down when the disks were set outside - part of the archiving process. Good plan!

  Your old computer had a "Retail" or "OEM" of Windows installed version?

  OEM versions are related to the 1st motherboard they are installed and can not be activated on another motherboard. The only exception is the 'mother' is exactly the same make / model / part number as the original motherboard.

• Is impossible to activate Windows XP, computer locked up...

  I tried all day removing personal information from my old computer before I give it to a friend. At the time when I thought that I had done, I decided to do an upgrade of the Windows XP operating system installation. I thought that I would be fixing any errors. Stupid me!
