  The available system update only is El Capitan. It requires 10.6.8 (you can upgrade to this version) and an iMac 2007 or newer.

  How much memory you have installed?  It is strongly recommended that for the older iMacs use at least 8 GB of memory.  If you find new bars of memory get them at Crucial.com.  Price of modules will not work even if they state that they meet specifications.

  After you apply the Mac OS X 10.6.8 v1.1 updated Combo go to the App Store and download and install El Capitan.  Be sure to have a recent copy of your hard drive before you start the upgrade.

I did some research and found this seems to be common and I installed an app called SSD fan control that works very well. Currently, the fan runs at about 1500 rpm on SMART control.   I think that the idle speed for this model is 2 000 rpm. You can solve it without depending on a third-party software by purchasing a special OWC connector that allows the disk temperature sensor work properly.

  This question is impossible to answer without any real information. I recommend visit your Apple store and try different models, until you find one you like. Then you can search in Apple refurbished store to see if they ever become available. Refurb can sell very quickly so if you find one you like, pull the trigger quickly.

  None of the new iMacs have HDMI ports, Thunderbolt ports, which can be converted into HDMI using an adapter. However, there is really nothing you can do by connecting an Apple TV to a Mac via HDMI.

  Apple TV video outputs, and the ports on the Mac are also outputs, not inputs.

  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the answer is no. What you're trying to do is called the target Display Mode, Apple is extremely clear in the use of your iMac as a display with the target - Display Mode supported Apple exactly what iMacs TDM support.

  There is a solution, based on a Wi - Fi connection, but the performance is so poor, it is not even worth mentioning.

• "Hang on" to restart software updates

  Hi guys,.

  I was unable to update software on my iMac for about a year now (I bought about 5 years ago).

  Everything's fine until I restart it so updates take effect. Reboot screen "blocks" (I left for 12 + hours and it was still suspended) and he does not actually restart, and so software was not updated.

  I tried a few things like deleting files in a folder "library", as recommended in a forum of the iMac, but not joy.

  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  Personally, I use Adobe Fireworks, but I believe that Photoshop will work as well. Alternatively, you can use a snippet.

  It depends on what iMac you have. Some older models may not recognize 8 GB of memory chips.
