  I have some movies on DVD (with menus, etc.), which are non-commercial unprotected DVD.  I have full right to get video off them.

  I installed this program yesterday evening. I kept problems so I decided that the best course of action has been uninstall, remove, and then reinstall. I went into Control Panel and uninstalled the program. So when I try to reinstall it says that the files already exsist and I am not allowed to crush them. So I go into computer and program files, look for the folder and tries to remove it. He asks me I'm sure I told him to continue. Then he asks me to leave. I give, but then another screen appears and tells me I need permission to move the folder. Not only have I given permission. I'm under the administrator of this computer, so I should be all right. What in the world is going on. The reason why I wanted to reinstall is also because this "thing" kept to spoil the. For any future reference when I get the uninstall/reinstall thing figured out I need to know what to do.

  Whenever I tried to rip a DVD the thing says "Fail to initial encoder" I kept messing around with the setting but nothing has ever changed. Then the other half of the time he told me it is a runtime error, but does not specify what type, it just said "abnormal program termination" but does not give properties or the explanation of what it means. I've published my Movie Maker presentation.  It will be presented via a laptop computer and projected.  First of all, what kind of cd/dvd I need?  I know that this information is listed under the HELP section of the Movie Maker program, but what do you propose to help?  AND THEN... How can I do to burn video on cd?  I got to the question re: given dvd vs dvd-video and was confused (sorry... it doesn't take much!).  In my mind, it's a video, but the explanation stated that in this format must then be read via a dvd player.  Finally it can be read that way and it would be nice to have this option, but my goal is now to have played through a computer laptop and projected.  I tried to save it as a video dvd last night, but after almost two hours of "transformation" (my video completed is approximately 3-1/2 minutes), I eventually escape and stop.  Can you guide me through this in simple terms?  Thank you!

  I tried to open the video that have a .dvd file extension. I tried several trial programs, but none does not recognize the extension. The videos were created on my old computer using Windows XP, but many programs I moved were lost when the hard drive is gone on my new Vista machine.   It will be interesting to know what is your priority. Do you want ultra-thin DVD burner and take it with you or you want to copy all that at home.

  I ask this question because I used the old Satellite 1900 with external DVD writer. My old Satellite has USB 1.0 only and I bought the optical disc player placed in the external case and hooked up with my Satellite via the firewire port. I was very satisfied and data transfer was excellent. I must also say that desktop DVD burners can run with faster burning speed.

  Your laptop has USB 2.0 ports, and you can use the USB connectivity for external device. If you want to use at home I recommend you to use something like this. I had the same manufacturer. It works perfectly.

  DVD MovieFactory for Toshiba is a coupe version ov ULead VideoStudio and video editing software base.
  It can: -.
  1: capture video camera, VCR, etc. (if you have the appropriate cable)
  2: basic editing - add titles, add soundtrack, add the Transitions etc.
  3: burning on DVD.

  Additional help from the '? at the base of the screen.

  It is a good program for beginners, but it lacks advanced features of ULead VideoStudio.
