• Fast food: repository shows Replication is complete - but it is not full.

  I have problems with my quick recovery of replication for a single machine.  It is a failure with the error 'Repository is full' - but no repository is full.

  The total size of the recovery points of the machine is 800 GB.  The local repository is 1.11 TB size (343 GB free).  The remote kernel has a repository that is 950 GB in size and still has no data stored in it.

  Specific symptoms:

  • The machine is protected locally and has the successful base image and perhaps other checkpoints so
  • The machine is added to the replication without use of seeds by car (done successfully many times with other big servers)
  • Replication starts, but fails - usually within a minute or two, but sometimes more
  • Error: The repository is full. Adjust your retention policy, or delete old recovery point channels to free up space or add a new storage location in the existing repository. The call to the service [servername/remote address] POST method: the repository is full.   Other details:

  There is a connection of 100 Mbps between the sites, so we replicate generally devoid of seed readers and it takes about 24 hours.  I have it set up to have a repository by machine, and other larger machines are replicated successfully without problem.

  Things I've tried:

  • Giving the remote repository in addition to space (at one point, he was bigger than the local repository)
  • The local repository of the giving more space
  • Recreate the two repositories the remote using new names and
  • Remove and re - protect the machine using the local database
  • Deletion/recreation of replication

  I'm out of ideas.  I give another try now and he is working on the replication and has been for about 30 minutes, but just earlier today, he worked on the replication for about 50 minutes, before reporting that the repository was full.

  Version of fast food: 6.0.2.144

  Using the option of seeds fixed the problem drive.

  Specifically, what I've done:

  -Created a seed disk (in my case, I just used a file on a USB drive connected to the backup server main)

  -Says the target of replication to use the reader of seeds to start replication.  In my case, I never moved the drive, I just had the target server access information on our site to site 100 Mbps connection

  * wait 5 days for replication server to consume seed information reader *.

  -Once completed, replication off-site for this particular machine started working normally.

  As a note to anyone else find this information later: I have a strong suspicion that there is other hardware/software issues on the main backup server.  There's even a journal entry noting long access time to the backup information (15 minutes).  This may have contributed to the false errors do not have enough space on the remote repository.  I suggest check your newspaper for similar issues and addressing the people first to ensure reliable backups.

• Protection group virtual machines do not have consistent snapshop point in time using vSphere replication

  As the title, we feel when capturing instant timestamp for virtual machines in a protection group.

  Which means a group of database servers, applications, and others, when drill us test to start the virtual machines in the recovering site files timestamp in the virtual machines are varied.

  Snapshot work is executed simultaneously for all virtual machines in the group when planning replication hit? Or is it because certain virtual machines (like DB) speak more time to complete the snapshot so than others like apps VM completed early?

  Anyone hit this problem? We use vSphere replication instead of array based replication.

  It is a behavior expected with current versions of vSphere replication - replication source host Scheduler is not aware of any grouping of virtual machines and starts the replica instance to meet the RPO requirements. The decision when to start a new instance is based on the time of loading and transfer to some of the previous instances.

  Multi-vm coherence is on the roadmap for a future release and will describe what exactly you address issues.

  If you use VR 5.5, you may use multiple points depending on the time (JEREMIAH) and after switching some of the old machines instances (represented by VM snapshots) to match the State of the other machines.

  I work in an area where there are a lot of people who wear their laptop Portege (especially the R830) autour while they are still on - mainly well they are switching from a desktop to the meeting etc. rooms and often their transport on an angle.   There are two possible reasons:

  1 LUN supporting these data stores are part of a consistency group defined at the level of the storage array

  2. There is one or more VMs with disks on several data warehouses

  Most likely, it is the second. Imagine that you have these 4 datatstores.

  If you have with VM1 of disks on the XX_HIGH_DCN and XX_HIGH2_DCN data store, then MRS. could group these data warehouses. So if you have VM2 with disks on XX_HIGH_DCN and XX_LOW_DCN (e.g., OS drive and application drive) then XX_LOW_DCN is added to the group. A VM more spanning 2 data warehouses and you own all 4 in a group. Or you can have 1 VM with disks on all 4 data storage. In any case MRS. try to calculate a group of data stores such as all the virtual machines in this group can be recovered successfully together.

  I want to test a recovery plan and I (hopefully) set up correctly.

  The two sites are connected and I set up the Mappngs, the records, the Placehoders and networks etc.

  I had a failure with a Protection Group who had no VMs in it.

  And that is the problem.

  When I go to create a Protection Group (with RSV) I don't see any virtual machines listed.

  My VMs are sitting on a Lun on the production side and this Lun is mapped to a logical unit on the recovering Site number.

  The LUNS are Openfilers

  Can someone tell me why I can't see the virtual machines or elsewhere the Lun?

  Is it because the logical unit number is Openfiler?

  This is my first time out of MRS so don't have a lot of experience with that.

• Configuration Error protection group

  I'm running two vCenters, organized primary (protected site) and the other is my dedicated website of DR.  I use RV replication on all my virtual machines in the main site.  When I open up to Site recovery and click replication vSphere all my virtual machines seem to have replicated successfully, as shown in the screenshot.

  

  When I try to protect virtual machines with the help of a protection group, I get the error message below, which seems to indicate that replication is not working properly, however as you can see on the screenshot below replication doesn't seem to be a problem.  I also checked the files of the virtual machine appear in the target on the DR site data store.

  

  I'm under vCenter 5.1 on two sites and MRS. 5.1 with RV replication.

  Any ideas where I can start troubleshooting?

  This question seems has been resolved by the removal of the protection group and start again.  Work now.

  After the expiration of the license for web protection last weekend the firewall blocks always spam.

  So I think it was a general message about the license expiring, but from my point of view, this kind of message is very annoying because you never know if there is a problem with filtering if you don't buy a license for the web anti-spam protection.
