What is upgradable on Satellite L35-S2151?

You have a question. I have a L35-S2151 I've had for a while.
The hard drive crashed recently (again) and I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to a larger disk?

If so what size? What else can be improved?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

What is delivered in standard, 60 GB, 80 GB?

I doubt that you can install anything more than 120 GB due to the LBA48 limitation http://www.48bitlba.com/

So I need to add another battery, my question is what is model number of batteries can be used in L35-S2151, each ending number with "1BRS? Could you give me a list of number of models?

    Hello

The laptop seems to be designed for the American market. Did you buy it in the United States?
However, if you want to buy a battery for your laptop you should always use the compatible and supported a.
I m not 100% sure, but I think the L30 series uses the same batteries.

On the Europe of Toshiba in the Options box & accessories page I found some batteries for a laptop Satellite L30.

    Battery (6 cells, 4300mAh PA3399U-1BRS
    Battery (Li-ion, 4000mAh, 6 cells) PA3465U-1BRS

You must pay attention on the value of mAh. A higher mAh value means better performance of battery power.
I think you can order these batteries in the Toshiba authorized service provider and additional, you should ask the compatibility of battery.

  • Satellite L35 memory installation question

I'm upgraded memory in my laptop of buddies, but for all intensive purposes, it will be here on out considered a mine.

The toshiba satellite L35 originally supplied with 1 x 512 MB of RAM, 6 months, I have improved, putting 1x1gb stick in and keeping the 512 to so (it has worked well for all the time I got it). I decided to upgrade again and bought 1x2gb stick.

When I put in, I put 2 GB key on the slot 0 (correct me if this is the wrong term for the slot in the bottom when the laptop upside down) and the stick of 1 GB in slot 1.
When I started the computer should only 1.87 for the RAM, then it should be a little less than 3 years.
I tried all the combinations involving the stick 2 GB
2 GB to location 0, 1 GB in slot 1
2 GB in location 1, 1 GB in slot 0
2 GB at location 0, 512 MB at 1 location
2 GB in slot 1, 512 MB at location 0

For all this he appears as 1.87, no matter where the 2 GB is and what else is there with her.

the 512 MB (original computer) is hynix 512 MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200
the 1 GB (updated 6 months ago) is kingston KVR667D1S0/1 GR
    2 GB (brand new) is DDRII533 G.Skill PC2-4200 (F2-4200CL4S-2GBSQ)

I am gets mixed responses from crucial.com and memoryx.net all this notebook can handle.
So my question, I guess... I have to send the G.Skill back and get a different 2 GB? What is the compatibility issue?
Should I get a kingston? Or I just do something wrong.

Thank you guys and thanks for the forum in general, I looked here for instructions on how to install memory in a laptop, I've only done so far, desktop computers so I was puzzled and didn't break anything.

    Hello

The L35 unknown for me. It seems to be a series of laptop designed for the American market.
But the L30 is known to me and I know the L30 is very similar to the L35.

However, the point is that the RAM can be upgraded only up to 2GB.
This means that you can use a 1 GB module in a slot.
A upper memory module size is not supported by the memory locations and therefore the laptop shows about 1.87 GB RAM.

Hope this helps to explain the problem.

  • Memory and disk HARD upgrade question - Satellite 5200 801

    Hi all

I really need your help to upgrade my toshiba Satellite 5200 801 (model: PS520E-31P1D-EN), basically it's the version specification factory (technical instructions on the link below)
    http://www.cwrose.de/Toshiba/S5200.html

What I want is to get faster internal memory, you can buy for this model (currently I have two default 256 mb DDR 266 MHz CL2.5 memory sticks). Will probably do a gig of memory (I could have more, but it depends on the price).
As well, I want to spend the HD to 160 gig (about), as well as get a faster hard drive then the current 60gig 4200 RPM Hitachi HD (as soon as possible for the specifications of my laptop).

Anyone know what would be the best option?

Someone said that it would cost all under 100 (that would be cool), but I don't know anything about the compatibility of different companies etc.
Can anyone recommend what equipment... .and where * I hope that ebay or studs :)
I need to go to get this sorted out

    PS:
FYI, I mostly use the laptop for graphic design, video, and the interwebz.

Thanks for any help you can give!

    Hello

You can upgrade the Satellite 5200 801 memory and HARD drive.
S for laptop computer memory can be improved up to 1 GB of RAM. So you can use 2 x 512 MB PC2100 DDR - RAM modules.

    Check this link 5200-801 Satellite:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=6116&ft=m&St=3

In my opinion, you can use the modules of memory from different manufacturers, but the module must support these specifications: 200-Pin PC2100 (266 MHz) DDR SODIMM
I suppose you could also use a 400 Mhz because the laptop supports a 400 Mhz FSB too.

I think that an upgrade of the IDE 160 GB HARD disk is not possible. To my knowledge, the BIOS can support such massive size of the HARD drive. But this is only my personal opinion. If I was you I would try a smaller HDD like 100 GB or 120 GB.

  • Install the satellite L35-S2161 - OS and the necessary drivers

I'll replace it the hard drive in my Satellite L35-S2161 next week. (I tried this a couple of weeks, but I couldn't get the wireless or PowerSaver utility to work so I put the hard drive and everthing back in original works)

So what drivers should be installed and in what order. In addition, there is no package Toshiba added value listed in the site Web of Toshiba for my L35 with Windows XP. So is that what I need Toshiba value added package (PVAT), if so where can I find it? I opened my Toshiba restore disk and the folder COMPS1 contains all drivers and utilities that I need. But there is no Toshiba value added package (PVAT).

The only thing I can find in the restore disc is a folder named 'Utilities Toshiba 1' and Notepad in this folder say "+ this package is for the Toshiba Utilities. It includes energy saving, which can help you customize the settings of hardware + your computer and hardware configuration features. ', it's the Toshiba value added package?

Yes, I can use the restore disc, but I would use my retail XP Pro instead. So, if anyone can help with the * correct driver / utility install command *, it will be greatly appreciated

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hello

As I m don't me wrong, Satellite L35-S2161 belongs to the Toshiba US series. All drivers must be placed on the page of the Toshiba driver we.

The package of value added is not created and designed for Win XP. It s only for Vista and Win 7!
Using Win XP you must install the Toshiba Power Saver Utility for Windows XP (v7.03.07Q, 25/08/2006; 6 M) in order to obtain current installed saver.

    Regarding the WiFi network:
In my opinion you have not installed the right driver.
There are two possible different WLan cards; WLan or Intel, you will need to install the WLan driver which is compatible with the wireless network card.

  • Satellite L35 (US) with Atheros AR5005G wireless connection problems

I have a Toshiba L35 (Windows Media Center Operating System) with the software WiFi Atheros AR5005G. This machine was purchased in the United States.

While in the United States the Wi - FI connection to a router (Linksys) using Windows to configure was instant without any problem.

I am now in England and when I try to connect to a Modem/Router (3 com), use Windows to configure, connection is spasmodic with what makes a connection on every five attempts. Several times I have to use the repair connection device trying to connect. When it connects the connection is good. When you use the repair it shows unable to renew your IP address if it connects. On other occasions, I use the network connection Panel and 'disable' then 'activate' then most guarantees a connection.

The laptop provides instant connection when you use a card PCMCIA WiFi with Windows to configure. While the card is inserted the s computer WiFi connect instant however when the card is removed and the computer restarted the same problems occur for a computer, free WiFi!

Other laptops have no problems to connect to my Modem/Router. I am convinced that it is working properly.

All regional/language settings in the control panel have been updated with the United Kingdom.

No undates are available for the Atheros Driver or BIOS.

Anyone can help identify the problem/possible settings to change?

    Hello

Satellite L35 is a portable American designed for the American market. BIOS and drivers should be downloaded from the Toshiba site we and not on Toshiba Europe site.

However, the error message Impossible to renew your IP address is known to me and my brother had the same problem with the Intel card. I just updated the WLan driver and used the Intel Proset utility for WLan configuration.

I see that you have the Atheros card. The Atheros also provide an Atheros WLan client utility. Try to use instead of the clean Windows configuration.
In addition, place check WLan card properties. You will find energy saving option. Please turn it off and check the Advanced tab

  • NTLDR error on Satellite L35-S1054 lack

I was with my recovery cd and applications to restore my laptop to the orginal way he was, and my child cancelled my recovery and now when I try to boot my laptop it tell me that NTLDR is missing, CTRL/ALT/DEL to restart.

When I restart it, the same message appears.
Can someone tell me what I need to do to fix this problem. My laptop is a Satellite L35-S1054.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

It seems to be something wrong with the files on your system disk HARD or with the HARD drive itself.
I have read different statements about this error and to be honest that the installation of new OS could contribute to.

If you n t have the recovery CD, you can use an original Windows installation CD, and then you could install the Toshiba drivers downloaded from the driver page.

Good luck and feedback would be appreciated

    Good bye

  • Satellite L35-S1054: Error: 10E7160001 when recovering

During the recovery, I get "" error: 10E7160001 "." He gets as much as 90 percent of the disk two and then stops and gives the message that an error has occurred. It has a button 'ok' to stop.

If you reboot, you get a blue screen and then it restarts. It's a phone of friends and he brought to me. It's a laptop Satellite L35-S1054.

    Thanks for your time!

    Mike

    Hello Mike

Enter the BIOS and you'll find the option set to default settings. After this try to reuse the recovery CD. I can't imagine that there is a problem with the recovery image. If the installation of recovery stops abruptly, it can also be because of the defective HARD drive, maybe some bad sectors.

  • SSD upgrade on Satellite L50 - B - 2 8

    Hello

I would buy the Satellite L50 - B - 2 8 and replace the hard drive with an SSD.
At the moment I think that the samsung 850 evo is a good choice.

Unfortunately, I read on some recognition problems hard drive with other models of satellite.

It would therefore be gread to know, if anyone here has upgraded the Satellite L50 - B - 2 8 with an SSD and could give me some information on the problems and recommended model ssd?

In addition, I would like to know if the warranty is lost if I replace the hard drive with an SSD?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I don't have this model of laptop and does not offer a specific answer, but I think that the upgrade should not be problematic. I have the same SSD and use it on my laptop older satellite. It works perfectly.

SDS update is not a big deal, but there is another problem. This model of laptop is not separated from the HARD drive cover and if you want to have full access at the lower cover disk around must be removed. This should be done by an authorized only provider, and you must not remove on your own.

  • Is it possible to adjust the CPU fan after replacing the CPU - Satellite L35 - S21?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L35-S2161. It was initially equipped with a Celeron M 410. Last weekend, I replaced the Celeron with a Pentium Core Duo T2250. Everything works fine. Now, both the Celeron and Pentium seem to run a bit hot.

The beach of temp for both are exactly the same. Honer time between Celcius 55 to 62 degrees Celsius.

Is it possible to set the fan to maintain a temperature between 50 to 55 degrees? If so, how?

    Check this http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ7A01ZW0007R01.htm

-It is uncertain whether the new processor is compatible to the system board. Integrated chipsets can take charge of their technical specifications a wide range of processors, but this does not mean that all types of CPU can be used in a mobile system for * integrated cooling systems are designed individually for each set of model in order to ensure the optimal functioning of the machine *. An incorrect CPU can cause the system to overheat and damage the internal system components.

-In most cases, the BIOS does not work with the replaced CPU which causes a malfunction of the machine. The BIOS needs to be rewritten after each Exchange of a CPU that can only be done by an authorized Toshiba service partner.

    My question is?
This hard drive will be compatible whith my laptop?

    Please, I need their help.
    Next time.

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop Satellite L35 was equipped of different SATA drives.
I'm 100% sure that it supports a 80 GB and 100 GB of HARD drive
I think you have a good chance that the L35 would support a 120 GB SATA HDD too.

  • What model is my Satellite Pro A300?

Labels under the laptop are completely empty.
Looking at the Toshiba Utilities, I managed to get a number of model-part, which is PSAG1E-00F004EN

Seeking advice for an upgrade of RAM I have been informed by more than 1 manufacturer of memory there should be 3 digits in the model number following the figures 'A300 '.

I am told that the model number should look something like "Satellite Pro A300-XYZ..."

Can someone tell me what this "XYZ" is based on the model-part No. PSAG1E-00F004EN?

    Thank you

    Hello

I ve posted the answer on your other thread but here's a brief overview:

For all those who need information on the laptop model and have the serial number please check on the card of the Toshiba unit - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/unitdetails/

By the way: this number XYZ is not so important. Part number of your machine is important. It is PSAG1E for your A300 and the part number is important for the identification of model and correct drivers download.

  • Question about upgrading memory Satellite M55-S1001

can you please recommend what to do? I want to make my satellite m55-s1001 run faster please let me know, what do you recommend: 512 MB or 1 GB of memory? I'm not familiar with updates so please help!

    Hello

First of all, if you want to go for fastest laptop, you should start with simple things.
Try to defragment the disk, turn off the background process is not necessary, etc.
Upgrade memory will the powerful laptop and of course a lot more quickly.

To my knowledge the Satellite M55 should support the bars of memory 2 x 1024MB, and I also recommend the use of 1024MB instead of 512 MB module.

  • SSD upgrade for Satellite Pro P200 (PSPB7A-01000J) - possible?

    Hello world

I had a Satellite Pro P200 for 3 years and more. It came with Vista Business pre-installed, but I have successfully installed Windows 7 a few months ago.

A few months ago, I replaced the C drive in my office with a Solid State Drive and now he sings - program start and loading of the system is much faster than before.

Now I'm wondering if the SSD upgrade even could be done to my trusty P200 and if yes, what brand/model of SSD could be better. It should be 128 GB or 256 GB maybe.

Anyone else been in this way? The results? Pitfalls?

    All responses appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Greg.

    Hello

I think that it should be possible.
You must use a SATA SSD drive since the laptop supports the SATA controller.
To be honest, I never tried to upgrade the laptop with a SSD but SSD is not very different from the HARD drive and normally should not be a problem.
In some cases, an update of the firmware of SSD may be necessary but usually these firmware updates should be available on the SSD drive manufacturer support page.
