What would cause lines and blue screen sometimes?

My computer is only a couple of months. I recently receive a screen with nothing else than lines on the screen and it appears bluish. What could cause this problem?

Hello

Try the following, although from what you describe, it looks like a hardware problem.

Open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open graphics cards - annotate the device listed here and then use Recovery Manager to reinstall the graphics driver question - how to use the Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document in question on the link below.

Recovery Manager - Windows 7

Recovery Manager - Windows Vista

Once the relocation complete, restart the laptop.

If the problem persists, you should contact HP and arrange for the laptop repaired under warranty.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

Kind regards

  • Update Windows xp caused my computer blue screen and now will not start.

Update Windows xp caused my computer blue screen and now will not start.  There has been no change to my system hardware or software otherwise.  After that windows update Setup, he asked to restart the computer.  When restarted, the computer screens and past blue to the quick menu for safe mode and last known configuration to work.  None of these mode of work, not to shelter or otherwise.  The only thing that he will now implementing market is quickly flashing the blue screen and restart once again to this quick menu.

It's really annoying because I have important files on this computer work and can't afford to get in shape!   I put my confidence in using windows and keep it updated.   During the installation of your updates, it made my system fails and does not restart.   I'll be very upset if this update of windows xp causes me to have to reformat and lose important files!

Any advice on a solution?   I need to get this computer work as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Ben River

I ordered the Dell XP disc and did the re-install. It works fine now. The Dell technical support had me do some updates on the web as well. I have not had problems since. What happened with the automatic updates completely wiped out my operating system. At least I don't have to buy a new computer.

If nothing else works, try reinstalling your operating system. It worked for me.

  • What would cause my C: / / drive to be completely changed?

    Greetings:

I have windows 7 pro 64-bit. Something happened between Saturday night and Sunday, and I'm very worried that this is the result of piracy.

My question is to try to know what could cause this, and so what are the best measures to prevent anything like this in the future:

My C drive was completely changed. He was unrecognizable, and inaccessible for me.

I don't know what in the world happened. I've always had the drive C (which is computer, local disk C, users, etc. and has programs and of course copies of all who are also in the library, which is placed above this player is windows so that created and joking with her.)

I went to use a software I had downloaded VCL, to convert video in a format that would play in Windows Media Player (done before with no problems) but rather discovered instead of my C drive, there was only one element: an icon I didn't recognize and it was named the "software".

I have NO IDEA who in the world has happened. It was literally terrifying.

Luckily I backup my notebook each week using an external hard drive and windows back up. I went back a month and restored, and it worked - put everything back. Then I got time to download windows updates and updates from mcafee etc..

    But at least he's here.

What brought me to this issue was that WMP does not work: I have used no problem with it. And the VCL software for some reason, which seems to get corrupted every week. I uninstall and reinstall three times so far.

WHAT could have caused this? The only thing I can think is piracy. Someone did. I surely did not. No ONE lives with me, no one has access to my laptop certainly my cat didn't do.

I've had in the past screen sharing with my internet provider, but you will need to connect with them. I have Verizon fios. They never did anything but in the few times I had screen sharing they close and that's it.

I also had a screen sharing with mcafee, a year ago.

    (1) that the recent screen sharing, I had is with the technicians of a company where I bought my security cameras. They had to make adjustments on the camera etc. and show me how to download.

I never had 'streaming' because I read that it can make the computer more vulnerable. But cameras can stream video and streaming was conducting. I stopped since. I don't need to see and download on video by security cameras and really don't remember same on definition.

    (2) the security cameras are hard wired and go through my router. So, they use my IP address. BUT I have a password to connect to the cameras to examine what has been recorded. Nobody knows & I do not give.

    (3) my laptop mainly use wi - fi, as I sat in my dining room. Nobody knows that I will not let others use or I give it for NO REASON.

OK, can so anyone who might know its IP address have a way to get into his computer, which is connected to a router?

Is it possible that someone who completely change a C drive? How? What we have to do?

Someone at - he heard the VLC (Videolan) and find out if there are any problems with them? It is downloadable for free, works very well - player when it works.

    This would cause software conflicts?

Has anyone even heard of this happening?

MORE IMPORTANTLY, what is the best way for me to guard against this?

I have a firewall that is supplied with the router. I also have windows Defender, I have mcafee (thought I don't know so how efficient they are).

I know it's long and I could have been more convincing, but I wanted give details, for example, you know that no one shares my laptop.

Finally, if you set your software to enable streaming of anything, music, video... you are less security from your computer? I'm NOT allowed at all because of what I read in the info from windows and I honestly do not remember how he got the value streaming.

The week before this happened, I had a few strange things happen like my firefox browser stuck, I saw a device called "window phone listed under devices when I do not use a windows phone and the tab where you can transfer a file for example documents to pictures, I saw"the transfer by bluetooth"when not to use any bluetooth."

I don't know if they are related

Can anyone recommend a GREAT firewall and supported? I read about the Comodo, but it's free, and as such, I don't think that it is supported. I don't want to stop all traffic in and out.

    Thank you very much

    Gina

I am sure that VLC it did not.  Fortunately you have been forward-thinking enough to have a back up.  Don't not piracy or the other.  If I had to guess, I strongly suspect McAfee.  He is known to be problematic

I can recommend a malicious software solution that incorporates a good firewall so called ESET smart security.  This is the test of the balls, easy to use and you can almost forget about it

If I understand your problem, I think it may have to do with the addresses stored in your address book. Thunderbird can display the name of your address book instead of the name of the post office, where corresponds to the e-mail address.

  • Satellite A500 - crackling sounds and blue screen

    Hey everybody.

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-19w about 4 days ago (today it is Sunday, March 7, 2010).

I had the sounds of crackling of my speakers which have been mentioned so many times in the forums, no real solution.
I also experienced the crash of the blue screen, that's already happened 7 times while I was not strongly using my newly buy laptop.
I'm not looking for a repair or a replacement, because I find it quite unacceptable to have to think about the errors, faults & fixes as much as the laptop is brand new.

What I want is a refund, but I'm not sure on how to do it.

I know that Toshiba has some sort of refund policy, but if someone can tell me exactly how it works, because I want to get rid of my laptop as soon as possible (I will not buy any more portable Toshiba, especially since I had some similar problems with my Qosmio f30).
If someone can give me some guidance, because I don't want to be mocked or used and cheated out of refund.
I bought my Toshiba in the Middle East (perhaps refund policies are different here).
    Thank you.

    Hi mihran.

If you want to pay off your laptop, you should talk with your computer store where you bought it. Only the can repay your laptop and not Toshiba directly.
Of course it is also depending on the country where you life, but normally you can pay within 14 days I think. So in your case I speak with the seller or give them a call. They explain how to do this.

But let me give you a little advice: regarding your problems with the crackling sound and blue screen I recommend that you contact an authorized service provider or ask a new A500 (this should be possible if you have only 4 days). Generally, I can say that a friend of mine has Satellite A500 and he is quite satisfied with her. This laptop has a great design equipped with new material for a good price. :)

  • Adding RAM causes freeze or blue screen. RAM works well with Win XP

I upgraded from Win XP to Win 7.  I had problems with the installation so I removed all non-essential equipment and was able to complete the installation.  When I add more RAM, I had emoved (two DIMMs of 512 MB) to the current 1 GB DIMM, Win 7 either freezes or I get a blue screen after boot up (it does not boot up to the desktop computer).  Even RAM works very well with my old XP OS (I did a disk clone before moving to Win 7).  The card motherboard BIOS is up to date (according to eSupport) and DIMMs are the same characteristics (a 1 GB DIMM and two 512 MB DIMMS for a total of 2 GB).  Windows 7 works very well with just the 1 GB DIMM in memory 1 of 3 location, but any combination of causes freeze or blue screen.  Is there something on the way Windows 7 manages RAM which is causing the problem?  If so, is there something I can do to solve the problem?

try running Memtest86 +, which runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or
confirm whether your one or more of your sticks of memory are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours, so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

  • My computer keeps me tabbing off games, programs and taking me to the windows screen whenever I start something up, what would cause this?

I recently built a computer, and it was working fine the first week I got it. Recently however, whenever I start a game or a program such as Netflix or even simply get on the internet it is like I hit alt + tab and takes me in my office. I thought it might be a virus or malware but when I scanned my computer it was a virus that can detect my software and I deleted all the malware that was found. When it does work, I asked a friend about it and he thought that the problem was the key to windows on my keyboard. I had been using, I unplugged the keyboard started a game and he seemed fine, but I put a new keyboard in there today and the problem has started again. I have no idea what could be causing this and I need to know if it's a simple solution or if I should consider a professional and ask them to look at?

    Hello

What is happening with a particular game or all games?

Restart and start typing the F8 key to display the logo of the manufacturer

Select Mode safe mode with networking

Download the following and run a full scan.  If your system has been compromised, the av software may not able to detect the virus/malware.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Reboot and let Windows load when finished

    You use Internet Explorer?

    Tools > manage add-ons

    Disable all add-ons

Start the game to determine if she plays with disabled modules. If he plays accordingly, then re-enable modules one by one to determine which can cause the problem.  Remove/disable the add-on.

Question: Have you checked the overheating problem when playing the game?

  • Satellite Pro L510 - crashes and blue screen

    Hello
I am a new user of the Toshiba Satellite Pro L510, since last September, barely 3 months.
Recently, had met 2 crashes (2nd is today s). As it happened today, there are blue screen that appears, which included messages like 'crash', 'written' physical memory... etc.

In addition to send it for repair for this new laptop, I don't know what is the best way to manage this accident and what might be the best way to prevent this accident.

Recently I installed programs such as Microsoft SQL Server 2008, anti-virus program (Sophos), which I think are necessary (the first was for my studies as well).

Would appreciate any pointers to advise me if these could be the causes of the accident, and that I have to do to keep the better laptop or y at - it any generic deficiency maybe I should take notes.

Thanks in advance for any advice for this laptop.
    Kind regards

    Hey,.

First of all, I must say it is very difficult to say whether this problem is software or hardware related, but in most cases these accidents are caused by software or drivers...

I put t know how many programs you have installed, what OS you use and if there are compatibility problems, but you can test it yourself: Toshiba start recovery disc recovery facility. After that, you have the same settings that you have purchased.

You should examine it a little these parameters. If everything is ok, it was just a problem software or driver. ;)

Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Launch auditor.  You don't need to run memtest again unless the auditor is not the cause, or you want to.
