When do recovery disk?

Hi, I just bought a laptop HP Pavilion G7 that comes with Windows 7. I am preparing to level to the new Windows 8. Should I do the recovery disk before or after the upgrade to Windows 8? And I'll install Windows Office 2010, it would be included in the recovery disc as well? No one knows the number of CDs needed for recovery or is it wiser to use the USB? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hello

You wouldn't be able to use a recovery from another machine media as the procedure checks for a "tattoo" on the Bios chip to ensure that it is installed on the machine, so it was expected.

Recovery media creator has options to create the collection on DVD or Flash drives - external hard drives are not supported and you will not find the option available.

However, Windows 8 has a utility that allows you to create an Image of 'system' which can certainly be stored on an external hard drive - if necessary, you can use this 'Image' to return to your laptop to the exact state it was at the time the Image was created, IE with Windows 8 and that all your data and programs.  2 options are possible, and we'll find a good guide on the procedure on the following link.  You can create a new Image as often as you want.

Create a system - Windows 8 Image.

I try to use the "recovery disk creator" to create a recovery on a USB disk rather than to burn CD/DVD (don't have an available CD drive). I think it's supposed to be achievable, see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=230453. However the help file (C:/Program Files/Toshiba/TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator/TrdcHelp.html) for "Recovery disc creator" makes no mention of the use of USB keys.

I have a 8 GB USB key. I tried formatting FAT32 and NTFS.

When I try to open the "Recovery disk creator" program I get a window saying 'another application is using that drive or no recordable discs are recorded on your PC. Please check the State of the reader. "So I can't start the program 'Recovery disc creator' Version is 2.0.0.3.

I formatted the USB incorrectly? Must be formatted as a starting BACK, if so, which are the files I need to do to? I need a newer version of 'Recovery disc creator' to do with USBs - if so someone can suggest a link where to find them? Hello

Recovering files can be created on a USB key, too, but if you can t begins the recovery media creator due an error message that it has nothing to do with your USB key.

I read the other post on the forum you mentioned and the guy has disabled his security software (antivirus and firewall). Have you tried the same thing? Some security programs blocks some programs so disable the software and try again.

Recovery disc creator can t be downloaded but what you can do if it still doesn t work done a HARD drive recovery facility. This will restore the initial configuration prétestées and then you can try again to create the USB stick recovery. :)

  • Manufacturing recovery disks

This that everything is burned on the disc when you recovery disks?

    It copies the OS?

It copies everything on the computer, or just the factory installed software, drivers, etc E.?

My hard drive is on its last leg, so I need to replace it, but I never did my own recovery disks.

    Any information is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Fisher77,

What is copied when you create recovery discs is the recovery partition itself containing the factory default OS, drivers and software. Everything that was not included with your VAIO will not appear so you will not have to register your other files and programs installation on an external drive or a flash drive. Thank you.

    Hello

What kind of DVD that you use to create a Toshiba Recovery disk? I have tried Verbatim DVD-R and TDK DVD-R and never had a problem with these discs. A friend tried DVD + R and he couldn t create a recovery disk. After he tried DVD-R and everything was fine but I do not know why this happened.

  • Why 5 recovery disks, when I used only 1?

Ok. I had a software problem. I have ordered from HP recovery disks. No problem.

I get 4 discs labeled 1-4 and an additional drive.

I load the first disk, wait until he asks for 2, 3 and 4, etc.. Never happens. After the first drive, he did his thing and it seems good. Facing up and running.

So why have 5 discs total when it held only 1? I expect almost the other shoe to drop or something, because I never loaded the other disks! What Miss me?

Maybe it's because you have a recovery partition intact on the drive from which some files were used. If you had installed a new hard drive he would have probably asked each of them.

  • When you use disk cleanup, drive D C and recovery should be included?

When you use disk cleanup should you clean disk (C) operating system, and the recovery disc D. Then on drive c must only choose th files that are already enabled as the downloaded programs files and temp. Internet files or you need to clean more options?

Do NOT run the cleaning or do anything at all on the recovery D: drive.   Do not add files, defragment, compress, chkdsk, or something else.  Let completely alone.

Insofar as what to remove NSB C:\ drive, this decision is entirely yours.  You can add or remove options as you seem, and that you feel able to make - do as much as you can in these settings.  More your cleaning, the more you'll be available and, in some cases, it can even run your computer to start, and stop faster.

    I hope this helps.

The recovery partition is set by default to have very little free space_and has no negative effect on it or system. However, if you use it to back up files, it could fill to capacity. Do not use for backup. You can also check to see if the System Restore monitors the partition, if so, turn it off. Whatever you do, do not compress the partition. Doing so will serve as recovery to stop working.

  • What happens when I run recovery disks in the computer?

    Original title: .vista

I want to run my vista recovery disk, what actually happens when I do this.

    Hello

When you run the manufacturer's recovery disk, it puts your computer / computer laptop back to factory settings. the new condition that you bought it in.

All your data: pictures, music files, etc. must be backed up on an external hard drive before making a recovery, because they will be normally lost.

All data updates to Windows, 3rd party programs, and that you have installed since your purchase of computer no longer the disk hard as the hard disk is normally wiped clean of everything during the recovery process.

The above is called a destructive recovery.

Some computer manufacturers also have the possibility of a non-destructive recovery, which stores programs and data in place.

But, the data must be saved IN the MATTER.

If your problem is so bad that you need to reinstall, a non-destructive recovery does not solve the problem of normally and most destructive recovery needs to be done

  • CyberLink recovery disk utility: can not burn to disc when you try the recovery computer

    Hi all

Recently, my hard drive on my HP Pavilion p6674y was wiped out. I have a new hard drive installed in the computer. I created my own recovery DVDs when I bought the computer first. I started with the recovery discs and all was well until about 70% (on the 2 CD at this stage of 3) and then I got an error "0xe0ef000e.

I then did some research and have ordered the discs of recovery from HP and then saw that I must download and burn to disc recovery disks Cyberlink utility so that the discs work. I have serious problems this CD to burn. I followed the instructions and when it is to the burning time of the installation wizard CD does not burn. It says on the wizard I'm full and there is a 'yes' 'no' and the button "Cancel". When I hit Yes the computer I currently use just restarts. I then try the disc (even if I can say that it's always empty) in my Pavilion and the checkmark never comes to the top.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

    Hello:

This utility is not absolutely necessary.

You only need if the HP recovery discs do not work on your new hard drive.

I tried to run the file on Windows 8 and it wrong, then I won't be able to help you with that.

While you wait for your drives HP recovery plant to arrive, you can make your own plain W7 installation media and use that to install W7, so at least you can use your PC.

Here is how to do this.  My only review of the instructions is not to activate W7, unless you want to. Just skip entered the product key from the COA Microsoft sticker on your PC case.

You have 30 days to use the program without activating it.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below. Download the Windows 7 version that is on your product (Home Premium, professional or ultimate) key to apply.  SP1 Refresh of media files are the latest ISO files.

    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-multiple-languag...

Use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a DVD or a 4 GB flash drive using the USB compilation method.

Use the product key of windows 7 of 25 characters to activate your installation.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.
