  If the charger does not work in the sheets that you have connected to in the household (and probably other devices work in these sheets) then chances are that either the fuse in the plug either the charging unit itself is dead. You may need to have it checked by a repair technician. Obviously if you machine under warranty, contact the manufacturer's technical support and see what they suggest.

  I know your problem because I had the same.
  One solution is to the mass of the laptop with your amplifier. Simply take a shielded wire, connect a tail of the wire to the groundconnector of your amp (usually for your turntable) and the other the tail to a point mass of your laptop. A connectpoint on your laptop can be for example the screws of your serial port or a VGA Port, or maybe with your SVHS-port.

  It is not a flash. The laptop is supposed to turn off for a second. It is quite normal with laptop with switchable graphics as they react to the change in power source.

  Several questions to help isolate the issue:

  1A this headset has worked with this before iMac?

  2 have you tried using this headset with another computer or tried to use a different headset with this iMac?

  3. what version of OS X number is the iMac running on?

  4. what applications have you tested the headset with?

  5. What is the brand of headphones?

  As a solution to try that may help would do an SMC reset. You would need to turn off the iMac, unplug the power cord at the back of the iMac (not the wall) for about 15 seconds, then plug it back in and test if the same problem occurs.

  You can also start in recovery mode by turning off the iMac, pressing and now the 'command + R' turning on the iMac until you see 'Select a primary language' or four options: restore from Time Machine, reinstall OS X, get online help and disk utility. If you get "Select Language", you select the language and you will see four options.

  Go to 'Get help online' and go to a website to test the sound with the earpiece in Recovery Mode. If the problem persists in recovery, be it be a problem with the headphones or a hardware problem with the iMac.

  If a different helmet also does not work after trying this, then very probably a problem with the port audio/iMac.

  If another helmet works after trying this, most likely a problem with the helmet itself.

Especially when it comes to mobile phones, the real cable you use is very important to have all the features when it is plugged into a computer.   It sounds as if there is a problem with the TV\Monitor. I see that you have not specified which other inputs has the device. This would help. Call you a monitor. The rest of us use LCD screens. It is only 20 inches by your description. I wouldn't use it if it would not accept a video signal with a resolution higher than 1024 x 768.
