When the Windows Service Pack 3 updates should the old updates from 2008 to 2011
My computer has updates of windows xp security inside of 2008,2009 and 2010, 2011. KB958687 example in 2009 security update. I thought that when the 'old' have been deleted automatically updates to windows, if no, doI have to delete them manually, or is to be distributed under Add & Remove programs.

I am still running XP. My PC did an automatic update to load the SP3. When I did, and after rebooting, none of my browsers would work - I couldn't access the net. (I use IE 7 and Firefox). I called my ISP technology support and they concluded my browsers were corrupt and that I should get installed most recent IE. Instead, I did a system restore before the SP3 update, and everything works fine now.
Issues related to the:
1. why what happened?
2. what should I do to avoid that it happens when I try to repeat the SP3 update?
3. do I need to install IE 8 before the update as my ISP has suggested?

OK, I know that this may be simple for most, but I have an of a moment _ this find. As I said legal copy that has been saved... I backed up all my files on DVD, I don't care if I lose all the programs that I can always download them later. Basically I want is that it was when I brought home the first time. I searched high and low for the original disc of Vista but no luck. I do not have people upgrade at any time, but I was not able to find a definitive answer about it online. Not too complicate it again but I have 4 GB of ram and processor can run 64-bit, and I have 32-bit curently I'm sure you know where I'm going with that. I know a little about how to do it, but want reasurance and direction from someone who knows hit safe and ready to help. Any person who get end to this nightmare for me will be really appreciated.
Shaun
Contact the manufacturer to obtain a set of recovery discs original (for a fee) and use them to make the initial installation. Activate it. Then you can do the upgrade and activate that. You must install the original operating system in order to install the upgrade. If you are going from 32 bits to 64 bits that cannot be done with an upgrade - which requires complete and clean installation.
Here is the Microsoft policy on replacement software; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Windows xp service pack 3 update
When go to the icon start, then on windows update and click on microsoft update, I get this
Install the ActiveX control required to view the site
The site is not correctly displayed on your computer without this control. To install it:1 right click on the Internet Explorer information bar. It is located just below the address bar.
2. in the context menu, click install ActiveX control.
3. in the security warning dialog box, click install.Note: If the information bar does not appear, or if you have installed the control but still cannot use the website to take these steps to solve the problem.
Example: Internet Explorer information with the menu barbut I never see the bar to activate the active X what's the problem?
Windows Defender is an anti-spyware application, not an antivirus application: you must both be installed. But it is too late to install one now.

Hello
Try to re - install ZoneAlarm on laptop, BUT it tells me that I must upgrade to the Microsoft Windows Service Pack 1 (SP1) to do this... I am running Windows Vista and when I click on windows update it works for literally hours without anything happeneing.
Zone Alarm has a key valid license - but for some strange reason, he will not have, so I had to uninstall and reinstall ZoneAlarm - he tells me that I need this update - who will not come?
Note: Windows Firewall is turned on right now and when I look at 'exceptions' does not offer updates of windows as part of the selection list.
Please, any advice on this will be greatly appreciated.

Windows XP Professional starts in safe mode after the service pack 2 update
I have an older version of Windows XP version 1.0 on a computer in November 2001 of the gateway that I have updated all offers updates of material such as BIOS and motherboard. Then to the service pack 2 update so I can load an antivirus software which does not load unless you have SP2 or later version. It loads like a champ and restarts, but Windows does not start normally, I have to start in safe mode and remove SP2. Is there a driver error that I need to find? Or is there an other update I need before SP2 for such an old version of windows? (He also did the same thing with SP3). Help! I tried to reload Windows with the repair feature, but was lost when he gave me a prompt C:\.

original title: could not resolve the problem of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 update!
Hey there,
I got Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 in my laptop when I bought it. Recently there was no updates of security (e.g., KB2481109) to install it into my system with a error: 80073712 and I had received a notification from windows to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2update. I tried to install it from windows update, but I got the error: 8024200d. I read the solution on this site and followed by download the stand-alone file and install "System Update Readiness Tool" (KB947821). ". After that I downloaded the standalone version "Windows Vista Service Pack 2" (KB948465) and tried to install it, but I got the error: 800f081f. "» I did Scan SFC which there is "no question of integrity" in the system, uninstalled "Avira Antivirus software" and again tried to install Service Pack 2 , but again, I've got the error: 80073712 After all this I couldn't solve the problem. Please provide some tips if anyone has solved the same or has a solution!
Thank you very much
UD
Hi Electrocuteud,
You have access to a Windows Vista installation disc? If so, follow the steps in this document to perform an InPlace upgrade. This will reinstall Vista without making any changes to the files and programs on the computer. Even if your data and programs must be safe, it is always advisable to make sure that you have a recent backup before major changes on the computer.
