  You have more than one display card? Try to connect your monitor to the another card and see if you can get the display.

  Try this;
  Remove the battery, disconnect the adapter.
  A few hours and reconnect the two parts.
  I had this problem in the past and leave the laptop disconnected during the night.

  -Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter from the portable computer
  -wait for about ~ 40 min and reconnect the two parts
  -then try to turn on the laptop

  If this does not work and the laptop does not start in windows OS, then you could try to insert a bootable recovery disk Toshiba and could attempt to reinstall new OS.

  -Unplug the power adapter, remove the battery
  -leave the laptop disconnected for a longer period of time (3-4 hours waiting)

You hear the sound when the logon screen is supposed to appear, and also when Windows actually loads. Occasionally, it sparkles, but the screen remains blank with the LCD backlight on.
