    Suddenly, I realized that I had an abundance of shortcuts in each folder.  Shortcuts that I knew that I had not created.  As I paid more attention and also tested, I come to realize that whenever I open a file the computer created a shortcut to this file in the same folder location.  It matters not what type of file I opened, pdf, excel, word... I searched but I can't find if there is a setting where this can be disabled.  Another thought is that if this is some kind of virus.  I ran all the cleanings of my antivirus and malware, and they are.  Any input is greatly appreciated.

  • computer crashed will not restore c drive is damaged

    my computer crashed and won't work for all programs in normal mode. In safe mode, I can get the internet, do not react in windows programs and is unable to find a just solution freezes. I tried to remove programs and the system restore, but it keeps telling me that the c drive is corrupt. I'm not computer savy but need my computer to work all programs. I don't know if that helps, but the usb ports do not register the printer mp4 player or my camera. It's terrible, all help to restore my computer would be appreciated... Even windows media player and windows media center are declining.

    Go to start / programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

    Type chkdsk /f /r and enter.  This will check and try to correct errors on your hard drive (as applicable).  It may need to remove bad sectors (which could cause more problems that files located in these areas may be lost - but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it - fix your hard drive is the first priority).  If it finds a large number of bad sectors, your hard drive may be faulty and will need to be replaced.

    Let us know the results of the scan, chkdsk/f/r, and we will go from there.

    Good luck and I hope this helps.

    P.S. If you can't run Chkdsk from safe mode, try to start the installation disc Windows Vista genuine or your recovery disc (if you have one) and run it from the command prompt here. Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

  • My computer crashes when not in safe mode

    OK, I have a Pavilion G7 1316dx and the only way I can stop freezing is is safe mode. I want to do a factory reset on the entire system. I don't have an operating system recovery cd. How can I reset this thing to factory settings and and do a thorough cleaning of the system?

    Hello

    The error code 0305, is a bit misleading - it is actually a failure of self test complete (Full) disc and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This corresponds also to the question 'freeze' you describe and why the laptop is able to operate in safe (as the reader is under less load in terms of read/write)...

    If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

    If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

    If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

    If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • How to fix my computer crashing whenever windows is an automatic update?

    Whenever my computer did an automatic update of windows and automatically restarts my computer crashes and I have to open in safe mood so he can go back on.

    How can I fix it?

    Assuming that McAfee Security Center is NOT yet installed:

    McAfee (and Norton) applications are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself.

    1. download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop tool: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. right click on the file that you saved in #1 above and select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. do a clean install of McAfee Security Center.

    -Online if you purchased your software directly from McAfee, go to https://home.mcafee.com/Secure/Protected/Login.aspx to connect and download your software.

    -Online DELL users should go to https://us.mcafee.com/root/login.asp?affid=105

    5 IMPORTANT! Manually & repeatedly updated McAfee Security Center until you get a "not more than updated" or similar prompt.

    6. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.

    7. now, open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & race that secure it in modes AGGRESSIVE then by DEFAULT. [1]

    8 restart a last time & test.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [1] full Disclosure: the difficulty operating in AGGRESSIVE mode will remove your update history but not the list of installed updates.
  • Try to open the mail application crashes internet explorer on Windows 8
    I have windows 8 on my computer, when I try to open the top of page the mail application, it says that if I want to download hotmail, I click Yes and the computer says stop internet Explorer running, close the program, and we let you know if there is a solution and nothing happens.
    Hi Tomas.
    Thanks for posting your concern here at the Microsoft Community forum. I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:
    1. You use software like Windows mail client live mail?
    2. Remember to make changes on the computer before the show?
    3. What is the exact error / popup you get when you open the mail application?
    If you cannot open Internet Explorer or if it opens briefly and then closes, the problem may be caused by lack of memory, or corrupted or missing system files. Reboot your PC to erase the memory and then open Internet Explorer by itself.
    Method 1: follow the steps in troubleshooting this article and check if that helps:
    What to do if Internet Explorer does not work
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Internet-Explorer/IE-crashes-stops-working#IE=IE-10
    Disclaimer reset Internet explorer:
    WARNING: Reset Internet Explorer settings can reset security settings or privacy settings that you have added to the list of Trusted Sites. Reset the Internet Explorer settings can also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the reset Internet Explorer settings. Reset Internet Explorer is not reversible, and all the previous settings are lost after reset.
    If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.
    Method 2: Run the Troubleshooter of Apps. This tool can automatically identify and fix problems with the applications.
    Note: This utility automatically corrects some problems that may prevent your running applications, including the suboptimal screen resolution and security or incorrect account settings.
    Please consult the following link for troubleshooting if the troubleshooter does not help:
  • Thunderbird is slow, can not open e-mails, is inadmissible and crashes constantly.
    I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I downloaded Thunderbird and imported my old user profile, as I always did in the past. Thunderbird runs incredibly slow. I double click to open an email and it takes 1-3 minutes to open. Thunderbird will display a warning "Not responding" almost every time that happens. Also, if I delete a message, it takes about 45-60 seconds for the program to react and move the message to the trash. Message opening and new or old messages and delete or move the emails to another folder is when problems occur. Write a new message does not appear to be a problem. It is not my internet connection (the link does not show wait times and no other users in my office had this problem). What is the solution? If it can't be fixed then I simply will cease to use Thunderbird as my e-mail program.
    Uninstallation of McAfee seems to have fixed this problem (and a bit more with other software). Thank you!
    Because I didn't want to be without any protection against the virus, I put Microsoft Security Essentials (free from Microsoft) and it doesn't interfere with any of my programs or software.
