  • How/where to replace hard drive

Whenever I turn on my computer, it displays a message indicating the hard disk failure is imminent and suggested me to replace it.  I have already backed up all my data and tried to restore the computer to factory settings, but the same message appears.

I have to buy a new hard drive?  Alternatively, can I install a program to cure the problem?  Where can I buy a new hard drive which corresponds to my Presario SR5838HK PC computer?

    Thank you!

You can replace your internal hard drive to the SATA II (3 Gb/s) with a new SATA II (3 Gb/s) or the newer SATA III (6 Gb/s) as long as you follow this advice:

    (1) must be the same size (your supposed to be delivered with a 320 or larger.) The maximum size limit is 2 T.

    (2) SATA II are hard to find. New SATA III AF drives need a minimum of WIN Vista, you have installed. You will get slightly better performance with the latest SATA III 64 MB cache of readers.

    (3) If you have at least one Seagate or WD drive in the configuration, can use their free cloning software. He called Assistant disk.  I hope that your original HD can run without the flaws in the process.

The clone treat it direct. See here for help.

You can, but don't need to format the disk first. Just boot from the
Windows 7 DVD and follow the instructions for a clean install. A cleaning
the installation begins by formatting the disc for you.

  • where is the hard drive on my HP? Laptop

I have a laptop HP I have just purchesed new and no manual. I can't find the hard drive. I received a titanium safety drive, but don't find any disk drive. Computer shows drive D with memory.

    Thank you

Oh THIS kind of hard disk. No, you do not have a. You can get a DVD burner external usb for not much money. If you have another computer with a hard drive, you can copy the contents of the disc to a Titanium flash drive, with a little more effort, you can make the disc on another computer available to the Sleekbook on a network or you may download the files of titanium on the Internet and use the key on the drive they gave you when it exists.

  • Office jet pro 8500 a: elimination of printer, was this encrypted model? How to destroy the hard drive?

    This model encrypted?

If this is not the case, how to destroy the hard drive? Where is the hard drive?

    Hi @Diane47,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support with your request to printer.

I understand that you have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer you plan to elimination and you wonder if the hard disk is encrypted and how to destroy the hard drive. I would like to help with that.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer don't have a hard drive. It contains a very small amout of memory, so it can keep in memory the printer and fax settings.

You can clear the memory by restyoring the printer back to the default values.

    1. on the printer Panel, select Setup.

    2. from the Configuration menu, select Tools.

    3. on the Tools menu, select Restore Factory Defaults.

  • Hard drive for my CDT 2180

    Hello world
I am the (proud) owner of a notebook of cdt 2180, but with a failed hard drive to 2 gig. I seek to replace the HARD drive, but never did it this before.
So obviously I need help... Where is the HARD drive and what HARD drive (type/size) buy to replace my defective?

    Thank you!
    Willem

    Hello

If you never done this before, it can be very dangerous to do it yourself because you can damage some other hardware components. HARD drive anyway, you can find under the hood of the HARD drive location. It is set with a black screw. There you can see support in disk manage. Pull forward and remove the HARD drive. There are screws on the HARD drive carrier. Remove them and pull the HARD drive out.

If you want to build in a new do in the order reverses. If you only do you it on your own risk.

It is not easy to say that one is enough for your laptop, but I'm sure that you can use at least 10 or 20 GB of capacity.

  • PSC 750: elimination of printing, destroy the hard drive

I have an old HP PSC 750 printer I have is going to be recycling and want to destroy the hard drive for security reasons.  Where is the hard drive and how I will destroy?

    Hello @Dotsie99, greetings!

Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, HP experts and other support staff.

I appreciate that you try to throw your old printer and worries about the security of the data.

You don't need to worry about your printer HP PSC 750 with no any hard drive. None of the PSC series and none of the Photosmart printers that use two or more cartridges have a hard drive.

The printer does not store the printed pages. So please go ahead and have the printer.

Hope that answers your questions and have a nice day!

  • Satellite 1710CDS - HARD drive replacement

    Hello

I have a question about the portable satellite 1710CDS.
A week ago my hard drive of the laptop above broke down.
Fdisk and partition magic are not able to detect the HARD drive.
My first question is where is the HARD drive located?
It is under the keyboard, as you can see by some other Toshiba laptops?
And is there anyone who knows what capacity hard drive to this cell phone is supported?

I hope someone knows the answer to my questions?

    Jeroen cordially

    Hello Jeroen

To swap the drive HARD on this laptop is not easy. Sounds stupid, but the unit must be dismantled completely. You need to remove the keyboard and on the left side, there is cable that connects the HARD drive with main card. To remove the HARD drive the upper eyelid must be separated from the bottom. It is not a simple procedure, and if you do it yourself, you should be very careful.

As far as I know this device supports up to 10 GB HARD disk.

    Good bye

    Hello

It s possible. Unfortunately it s not official but many users here in the forum asked a thousand times before you, and we all realized it's possible. Do not hesitate to buy new HARD drive and install it, there are just 4 screws that hold the HARD drive in the enclosure, the other stuff is just re-installing the OS and bla...

  • to replace my hard drive from 160g to 500g, what do I know

you want to replace my hard drive on a compaq presario sr055cl. It has a drive hard 160 g what size I can

Here is the service manual showing how to replace a hard drive:

    Manual

It has 2 SATA connectors. Here is a picture of the motherboard.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00069442

It's primitive SATA. It is a SATA connection to an IDE bus. However, having a 160 gig drive already installed tells me that the motherboard will accept Large Block Addressing 48 bit (LBA48), which means that you are not really limited by size. I am sure a 500 gig drive will work and will bet that a 1 TB would also work. I also bet you would have problems with a disc high density 2 TB or more. The existing drive is an IDE, which means that it is connected to the motherboard with a flat ribbon cable. You will have a hard time finding an IDE drive on the market these days. It must be SATA. Simply attach a cable SATA data between the hard drive and the motherboard. You probably need a molex (4pin white) SATA power adapter, too, but often those that come with the hard disk or are available for a couple of bucks at the store where they sell hard drives.

You should be able to clone the old drive using the new cloning software. I like and recommend Acronis True Image Home. If I did that I plug the new SATA drive into the port of the motherboard with the cover side and power also make the SATA drive. I would leave the original disc in and start cloning software disk doing a proportional resizing, all partitions are extended by the same percentage. After the clone is done remove the original disk and bolt the SATA drive in its place. I would just say allows you to add a second hard drive, but the computer doesn't have space for one unless you want to remove the card reader.

You may need to enable the SATA ports in the BIOS if they are not currently in use. Photo linked above motherboard page shows how to enter the BIOS. If you need assistance.
