Which laptop I do own fear?

My HP laptop battery won't hold a charge.  I may be an hour out of it after it loads for the night.  In addition, it drains dead in a week of non-use.

So, I need a new battery.  If the top of the page right on my laptop screen says I have a DV6000.  OK, easy enough.  I turn him over, and he says I have a Pavilion dv6700.

Odd.  Go online to HP Web site and put in the dv6700 and I'm showed 6 different models, each with a different letter at the end of 6700.  So, I try the number on the bottom.  IT tells me that I have a db6830.

In addition, the dough IN it of a REPLACEMENT-DB46 but inside the battery REPLACEMENT-Q33C is said...

My notebook has scrounged together various parts?  I bought OfficeMax.

How can I find this laptop I have, and I need to what battery?  I VERY rarely use this laptop, but to get some decent use out of it when I need it.

Help!

Hello:

All PC dv6000 are the same way.  The tag on the bezel of the screen says dv6000, then there is a model number printed on the label with the P/N and S/N, and you will find the real model number by entering the part number in the support page for HP consumer notebooks.

You were able to successfully identify your laptop as a dv6830us.  Mine is a dv6810us and had the same markings as yours, except a different P/N.

The bad news is that HP sells more spare our laptop batteries.

You'll have to search by the part number of the battery.

Here is the link to the website of HP parts for your specific model surfer.  It lists all parts with part numbers.

http://PartSurfer.HP.com/search.aspx?SearchText=KN946UA

I would just google one of the two numbers part 6-cell battery and see what you can find.

My battery is endangered too, but I think I'll just buy a better Notepad stop professional lease on eBay.

I have not had good luck with generic replacement for laptops batteries.

    Hey stueve2002,

I'm sorry that you run in the no power problem! The first thing you want to check is your power cord. If the AC adapter is good (and it is plugged into a wall outlet good), turns the light on the computer next to which connects regardless of the State of the rest of the computer. Let me know if this (see the example below image) light or not.

If it's light off, try a different outlet. Try one that has a work lamp or other device currently connected. If you have one available or try this adapter to another computer to see if it will fuel another computer, try another AC adapter. Check the connection of the DC end of the power cord in the power brick (big block in the middle of your power cord). Shake it and listen to the sounds of rattling. Check the entire cord for any damage.

If this light is on, you see everything for example Caps/Num Lock lights flashing lights? If this isn't the case, does nothing when you press the power button? Don't you hear the fan, hard drive and the optical drive from spinning? The bright light? Nothing flashes on the screen?

If you see signs of life at all (rotation of the fan, etc.), you can try to connect the computer on a secondary monitor to see if any picture on this subject.

You can also try reinstalling the RAM. If you have more than one stick, try to use just one stick at a time in each slot to rule out the possibility of a bad location.

Let me know what you find. I'll keep an eye out for your answer

  • Which laptop for complex excel calculations?

    Hello world

I would like to buy a new laptop. The laptop must be very powerful I've mainly use for very large, complex financial excel templates (a lot of data and number of array formulas and scenario analyses, for example monte carlo, etc.).

I think that the Dell Precision model is very a compelling product in terms of price/performance. However, I need some advice on which card to choose.
As I travel regularly, the laptop must not be too heavy (accuracy vs. the 5000 series 7000).

    Precision 5000: http://www.dell.com/uk/business/p/pr...emea&ref=PD_OC
    Precision 7000: http://www.dell.com/uk/business/p/pr...&ref=PD_Family

-I certainly want more powerful processor (However, I do not think that the extra computing power Xeon processor E3 - 1535M offers compared to the Xeon processor E3 - 1505 M will be noticeable in excel).
-Who and how much RAM? (it is sensible to choose vs 32 GB 16 GB?, I won't go to ECC or non ECC?, 2 x / 4 x 8 GB or 16 GB?)
-What hard drive do you recommend? (of course, SSD, but there are so many options to choose from, especially with the 7000 series)

Thank you very much for your help in advance!

    Hey top_performance,

For the side CPU, buy everything you feel, that you can afford.  I think the i7-6820HQ is very well there *-nearly identical in performance indicators that I can find.  Xeons are generally better for loads of data in servers or complex mathematical and scientific supercomputers; for Excel, I think you'll be fine with the i7.

Sage of the RAM: 8 GB really, is going to be good I guess.  Excel can be a bear, but in my experience, it is more likely to choke due to its coding entered kernel strikes a memory cap.  That being said - you can like shoot well for everything you can justify matched.  I've got 16 GB in my office & 12 GB in my laptop - I don't need really, but it makes feel me better.

What about if you want to go with a single vs 8 / 16GB modules 2 x 8 / 16GB, so you really need to ask two things:
    (1) you go with the model 15 or 17?  The 17 has 4 locations of memory (2 under keyboard, 2 under lower lid) based on the user manual.
    (2) do you think you'll be upgrading later down the line?  It seems that it is a fairly easy thing to do.

Speaking of types of RAM, I do not think that ECC is an option for you.  ECC (error correction code) is slower than non ECC simply because he has a data integrity check happens before releasing data to the rest of the system.  This is usually necessary in critical systems and servers to government/big corporation.  As it is, both of these pages product, only no ECC (n - ECC) RAM is listed.

For the storage of your data, I agree that an SSD is the way to go.  I don't know what else, besides that Excel you on this but I'd do it not encourage anyone buying a professional system to get anything less than 500 GB (unless you unload your data off-production of external/network drives).

Marked records 'M.2 PCIe' run on the PCI-express bus of the system - which is immensely faster than the SATA connections.  Readers who have "1 M hours MTBF" added at the end means "1 million hours average Mean Time Between Failures.  If these discs seem to indicate a better average life expectancy.

I did some quick research on the difference between DP900 of A-Data, DP910, and OPAL records but could not find something important on what the differences are.  Slight changes of memory controller, it seems, but nothing that would indicate a significant advantage of quality rather than another.  A - Data has, as far as I know, a solid reputation.

You said you go (obviously) with an SSD at a disk - I'd tend to agree with this choice, because I live a life nearly exclusive SSD myself.  However, in order to provide you with an informed decision, I want to emphasize that the hard drives & SSDS do not differently, but recent studies showed that SSD drives are not actually 'more reliable' than a hard drive.  When a disk hard breaks down the charges magnetic on the plateau is generally stay in place & keep your data under a certain form of recoverable state.  With SSDS, being that the data store is simply the electrons which alternates, if a failure occurs the chances of recovering you data is *-close to zero.  If the electrical load is disturbed & disappears completely, you will be GROUND.  If one NAND chip is physically damaged, you might be able to recover all data not stored on this chip damaged but you look very long professional service which is very expensive.

ALL that being said, SSDS are more resistant to heat, cold, physical impact resistant, liquid spills and are not affected by the physical movement of the same way East of the spinning of a hard drive trays.  No matter what you decide to go with backups of good brand.  As someone who has worked with HER for 10 years now, don't want to pay the Bill of a professional data recovery.

I hope it wasn't the overload of information for you.  I want to just that you go into this kind of purchase with both eyes open & fully abreast of all your options - these types of workstations mobile are not cheap & informed investment is a good investment.

If something needs to be clarified, please let me know.  I hope this helps!

  • Which laptop is better INTEL CORE I5 - 4210H or INTEL CORE I7-4710HQ?

So I am planing on buying a laptop but a problem. Here are the specs:

    LAPTOP 1-

    INTEL CORE I5 - 4210:
    8 GB RAM
    HARD DRIVE 1000GO
    NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 860M
    15.6 screen size of
    Memory type DDR 3 L
    Type of IPS display
    1920 X 1080
    2 GB OF VRAM
    4-2. KG
    COST: 1 650

    LAPTOP 2-

    INTEL CORE I7-4710HQ
    8 GB RAM
    512 GB SSD
    15.6 screen size of
    TYPE OF RAM DDR 3
    Type of LED display
    NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 860M
    4-2. KG
    Cost: 2, 350

Laptop which is better? The cost difference is very big, so I need a legitimate response. I'll be using this laptop for navigation and a little heavy play. Video editing, maybe in the future.

For me, the key is the processor and in the above case I would seek to i7, but it has a very small hard drive. It's all a personal choice depending on what you use the laptop for.

They are almost the same features, but it is having some good specs more and I liked a lot. A small increase in price too, but this slight increase doesn't matter much.
  • CS4 - trying to install CS4, but Adobe is calling an upgrade and which product I already own. I have CS4, but is not!

I've been running CS4 for years on two computers. I have the original DVD and the serial number. It is all kosher and appears on my Adobe account.

I just bought a new computer to replace one of the oldest.

The new computer doesn't have a DVD player, so I downloaded CS4 from Adobe and has been said to activate it as a 30 day trial version and then enter my serial number.

But the dialog box where I have to enter my serial number is directed to VERIFY the UPGRADE and asks me to enter the name of the product I already own.

Yet, the product I already own is CS4 (Design Premium) and this name does not appear in the menu dropdown.

He says "you entered the serial number indicates that your configuration is for a version upgrade of CS4.» To be eligible for this upgrade, you must already own a product calling,'

Can anyone help? I downloaded the wrong thing? Is there a download for people who already have a full version of CS4?

    Thank you!

    Thanks Hervé

In the end, I contacted chatline help Adobe and a patient guy he crossed the problem, which seems to be a problem on the serial number at the end of Adobe, not mine. He issued me with a new serial number and the issue is now resolved. It is the first time I used the Adobe chatline and I was very impressed.

  • What recovery disk belongs to which laptop?

    Hello

We have several laptops from Toshiba (Satellite A100, A200, U300, L300, Tecra M9) and several recovery disks. All recovery disks look alike (the only difference is a code starting with GMR400. How will I know the drive I have to use with a given mobile? Is it possible to tell one of the others? Or I can use any disc with any laptop?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello AMB

Unfortunately I can't help you much about it because those numbers don't mean a lot to me. Also, I believe that no one here can help you with this stuff. What you can do is to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help. They have access to the database of Toshiba and I think they can help you.

The fact is that you cannot use any disc with any model of Toshiba laptop. Saved on the recovery disk recovery image is created for certain model only and recovery image contains specific drivers for the specific model laptop (depends on the hardware platform).

    Bye and good luck!

Because my HP laptop is installed with Windows 7 and can not be installed on Windows Server 2003 or 2008, I need to buy another laptop to install Windows Server 2003 or 2008 PIA and PeopleTools.

    Thanks in advance.

    Lucy

Any modern laptop with lots of RAM (> = 4 GB) and hard disk space, within capablities of 64-bit virtualization should be well.
Even if you have Windows 7 OS to host, you can still install a virtual machine software installable on top of your operating system (for example, VMWare), then install an operating system supported as a virtual machine (called guest operating system). You will work on this virtual machine, exactly as it was a server, waiting for your host what OS is also running, no need to dual-boot.
