  Clean your screen with a dry, soft cloth and never use any type of solvent, rubbing alcohol, etc.  Best is to use a cloth to clean the glasses and/or photographic lenses.  IMO, you could use a very small amount of water to help get rid of the traces of finger, but eventually I'd always for a soft, cloth dry and just rub a little harder (but not too loud, use your best judgment) to remove traces of fingers.  I used this technique for many years without any problems.

  You should be able to use the mini-USB to USB cable provided with the camera to connect it to your Mac. If Photos does not start by itself, you can start it manually, check the sidebar on the view menu, and select the camera in the sidebar. You should be presented with a screen to import.   I have a 2008 Macbook Pro which is having some problems, I was able to fix them, but eventually the hard drive failed.   Usually start up to a blank screen without the Apple Logo, may report one of the following:

  • Hardware failure
  • Boot drive is not recognized as valid and updated updated

  I know it's old, but working well... so far.  White screen.  It is recognized by itunes when plugged into the computer.  Restored successfully on the itunes screen, always white.  Tried the fix with holding home and power button.  Tried to hold the House, volume and power.  Screen remains white.

  The 3rd gen iPod "classic" has a great sound.  If you tried to do a restore already, its likely to be a hardware problem, unfortunately.

  These older iPods are easier to repair because they are assembled from items separated and not so integrated and miniaturized.  My work 3rd generation iPod was reassembled broken iPods that I bought on eBay, by swapping pieces.  The screen is not the thing that is broken, most of the time.  If you are somewhat technically inclined, you can remedy.  You can post back for more information.
