Why my number of tiles on a new tab options reset?

Hello!

So far, I have had a few very specific options for my 'new tab' window. Using of "subject: config ' (instead of the URL), I put in 'browser.newtabpage.columns' and 'browser.newtabpage.rows' to 6, and then I selected specific sites to have an easy shortcut for them in the 'new tab' thumbnail.

It worked great until today. Now, even if I never made any change, the 'new' tab appears only 4 columns and 3 rows of tiles. These tiles always contain the same site as usual, but obviously I can't access if some of them, as I had more than 12.

MOREOVER, in, the ' topic: config ' window, 'browser.newtabpage.columns' and 'browser.newtabpage.rows' are ALWAYS set at 6. Of course, I tried to change to something else, but it does not work either. Firefox completely ignores my setup!

What should I do to recover my usual tools? Thank you already for your answers!

More information: I am on Windows 7 and I don't have any addon on Firefox.

I found the solution without the help of Add-ons. There is:
1. open the ' topic: config.
2. find the "browser.newtab.preload."
3. push back to "false".

    * it should be on "true" by default, if it's "false", then this fix will not work.

  • The number of thumbnails on my new tab page has changed

When I changed my PC switched off last night, my new tab Firefox page had twelve miniatures, four per line in three columns. When I turned on my PC today, I opened a new tab page and there were only eight vignettes showing, four per line, but only two lines. I haven't changed my setting in my sleep, so why has the layout has changed and how can I go back to the way it was? Change the zoom on the new page of tabs, to 80%, allows me to display 15 miniatures (I don't really want to fifteen just my twelve original) but only on that specific page, if I open a new fresh tab page is back to the display of thumbnails only eight again.

Hi, as you know you can change the number of tiles on the new tab in the zoom Page forward or back.

You also said keep the same zoom setting when a new tab is clicked: Type Subject: config in the address bar, press ENTER, accept the warning, scroll to browser.newtab.preload and double-click on it to change the 'value' of true to False.

It is also possible about: config to change the maximum number of tiles, scrolling to the browser.newtabpage.columns (or Rows), then right-click > modify to set a new number of 'value '.

As an alternative, you might like to try the add-on new tab tools.

It doesn't seem to be the options to add additional tiles to the new tab window and when I drag a site marked with a bookmark to the window, he don't just stand there, he just opened the site

    Hello

With the last update of Firefox, the number of tiles is now determined on the size of the screen - if zoom you or enlarge the window, you can have several tiles appear.

If you want to set a fixed number of tiles, I believe you can do it with the following extensions:

You can also see jscher2000's Solution here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1025414
It requires the add-on from the elegant but will decrease automatically the tiles on the page:

  • How to clear all the tiles in a new tab?

I don't check the thumbanils in a new tab for a long time, and now there are a lot of these in my history, my question how I clear without clicking on the X mark yet another on all the world?

You can drag an item of bookmark or history on each of the 9 tiles.
If you visit the link and have it in the cache, then you should get a sticker in it.

You can change the order of the boxes on the subject: newtab page and drag an item on a tile that is different to pin in this position or you can remove a Web site by clicking on the close X to block this URL.
You can drag a bookmark or history item and drop them in a tile on the subject: newtab page to pin them and have your own sites showing favorites.

Changes manually on the subject: newtab page are stored in the browser.newtabpage.pinned (default = [null]) and pref browser.newtabpage.blocked you can check/change on the about: config page.

  • Why suddenly I "You've opened a new tab" on the page every time I open a new tab?

All of a sudden a few days, instead of a blank page when I open a new tab, Foxfire began to display a whole thing under the heading "you've opened a new tab". I am quite aware that I opened a new tab. I purposely, and I do it all the time. There is a checkbox "don't show me this page again" to check, but I already checked it several times and it doesn't change anything. Why this message start showing and, more importantly, how can I get to stop?

Try to start Firefox in safe mode. This mode disables all extensions, customizations, hardware acceleration, etc., temporarily for the diagnosis and troubleshooting. If Firefox works find in safemode, then it's probably a problem with the add-on. Restart Firefox in normal mode, and then type "subject: addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions, restart Firefox between each one, until you find the troublemaker. Once you do, you can turn off this add-on and report the problem to the developer of this - on Add.

A few other basic problems you can try things is the following:
Run all Windows updates, install all required service packs, etc.

Updating your graphics driver (Firefox uses the graphics card for rendering and an outdated graphics card driver can cause problems. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers.

Update all of your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This check allows that there is no virus on your computer, causing problems. You can uninstall this program after having cleaned the infections.

If none of these works, please see Preferences are not saved, that includes a few steps, you can take which should solve the problem.

In addition, you should start getting ready to upgrade to Firefox 11. Firefox 3.6 support will be removed in a few weeks, which means he will receive more updates of stability or security. 11 Firefox is up to 7 times faster than 3.6, has many new features and improvements, as well as support for new web standards. http://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/features/ and Update Firefox have more information.

  • Why did I click Open in a new tab, and instead, I get a new window instead, I tired to uninstall and reinstall and change the settings, but it will always open in a new window no matter what

I try to open a new tab, but whenever I get a new window no matter what I tried to change the settings or uninstall or reinstall of firefox it just does the same thing its never happened before why now?

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

See "basic troubleshooting: a new profile:

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

This problem is Firefox on your Mac?

Perhaps users have discovered that this problem is caused by led modules, for example a plugin Conduit and/or an extension "Community Toolbar".

You can check and disable the extensions on page modules. Either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

What helps with the button "+"? If so, you can name the specific extension that caused the problem?

You can also see the Plugins page modules. You can never use 'activate' to disable plugins that you do not usually use.

  • Why the add-on Manager creates a new tab whenever I go to the home page?

When I run Firefox my homepage tab appears with a tab of the Add-ons Manager and a plus sign for the new tab. The only way to eliminate them is to stop Firefox and restart. Then it starts again. What is the cause?

I use the latest version of Firefox and 8.1 of Windows on a Dell Inspiron with 8 GB of memory and a hard drive of 1 t.

You can have the Addons tab set as one of your landing pages.
