Wi-wired and OfficeJet 8620 connections?

We have a little wired Ethernet network.  We intend to install a HP OfficeJet 8620 multifunction printer tomorrow.  I understand that for an Ethernet wired only, I just connect the OfficeJet to our router, then install the drivers on each workstation.

Unfortunately, our situation is more complicated than that.  Several people want wireless devices can print to the OfficeJet 8620.  We have a working wireless network, and wireless devices are able to access it without problem...

All devices on the network (wired or wireless) using the same router, which has wired and wireless Ethernet ports.  So everything is on the same network, through the same router.

8620 documentation reading, it seems that you have a wired or a wireless connection, but not both.  Apparently to connect a CAT-5 cable to the port the printer Ethernet disables WiFi the printer functionality.

If this is true, what can do us to activate the wired computers and communicating mobile terminals to print the 8620, given the structure of network I described above?

Thank you very much for any assistance you can offer.

Hello

You can configure as indicated on page #7 of the following guide:

  • OfficeJet 8620 two problems one) Win7 firewall connection wifi and b) the printer multi-network

Bought the printer this afternoon and set up a computer - connection to a printer with wifi as advised in the closed paper work and CD. No problems.

When I put it in place of the second computer (with wifi) using the CD provided, I received an error message that the hp software can see the given IP address printer but he could not automatically connect using the "typical connection method. Tips in the dialog box has been to change the settings of firewall computer method of 'typical connection '. Any advice on what this might be. Looking at the Win7 firewall, all HP printer software are checked for the home network and the public. What else the firewall must Win7 allow to operate the automatic printer connection?  BTW, I followed the advice of the installation software and punted for the moment. The warning by the software that was if the printers IP address changes, I'll have to manually change it into the computer with the firewall issue (ugh).

That leads to the second problem:

A couple of my computers are ethernet only. No wifi. When I plug ethernet to the 8620, it defines an IP address for itself on ethernet, but he abandoned the wifi IP address. How can I feel some ethernet connected computers and some wifi connected ones.

Any constructive advice is VERY WELCOME.

I apologize in advance if there is already a solution posted either of these problems; I couldn't find searching them the forum.

    Hi lennyw07016,

Thanks for letting me know that worked for you.

I suggest the setting up of a static IP address. In this way the router will always assign the same IP address to the printer.

Printer does not keep the wireless connection.

Proceed to Solution 3: printer of the assign a static IP address.

Here is a document for configuration of a firewall to allow a connection with the all-in-one Windows.

You can check if you like.

    Hi John, aka @DRJHS!

    Welcome to the HP Forums

I saw your post about the reset of the identifier and the password on your Officejet 8620 and wanted to say with my suggestion. I would say for you to try to access the Wireless menu on the printer and select "restore default network - Yes" and then turn the printer back on. The unit must be connected to your network, but you should not see the message indicating that the user name and password are incorrect.

How often and in what intervals fact officejet 8620 fax redial?

Where can I see the status of all pending composed?

    Hi RCP45,

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

I understand that you use a HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-all-in-one printer, and you would like to know how often the printer will recompose faxes would know viewing pending composed. I would like to help with that.

When you set printer busy redialn, or no response redialn, the printer will automatically start to dial the number of the recipient of the fax, the first transmission fails without delay. He will continue trying to send up to cancel key.

Because once the fax is cancelled the fax number must be entered again, either manually or selected from your speed dial entries, there is no list of faxes pending.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

  • HP officejet pro 8620: trouble with 8.1 to Windows and hp officejet 8620

Hi, we installed a new printer hp Officejet Pro 8620.

We installed the complete package on a Windows 8.1 machine.

Everything seemed fine, but suddenly our machine is not capable of printing on certain circumstances:

    -It cannot print from:

    (a) the notebook: error message "incorrect parameter".

    (b) office: Word, Excel, etc. not error, but she simply does not print

    (c) adobe Acrobat: no error, but it simply does not print

    (d) the configuration of the printer print test: error

    but it CAN print from:

    (a) assistant of hp, hp print scan and doctor printer (hp software)

    (b) hp AiO printer remote (it's a Metro app), only PDF files

    (c) Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc...

We tried to reinstall without success. It seems that it is something wrong with the driver and office, applications ideas? Anyone with the same problem?

    Best,

    K

Finally, we used the solution proposed on:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-networking-and-wireless/is-Windows-8-1-and-HP-8620-compatible/TD-p/4099680

The trick is for 8600 driver must be downloaded and installed before the change. 8600 drivers included with 8.1 do not work.

We will wait for the 8620 new drivers that might resolve this issue. In the meantime, we can print with 8600 drivers and scan with 8620 drivers.

    Best,

    JM

  • [Win7] How routing metric is determined when wired and connected to the same subnet and enabled both wireless adapter

We have one under the Network Setup:

1 Win 7 laptop with the wireless and wired adatper1 card1 enabled and connected to the 192.168.1.0 network.

    WLA1 - 192.168.1.2

    WA1 - 192.168.1.3

2 Win 7 laptop with the wireless and wired adatper2 card2 enabled and connected to the 192.168.1.0 network.

    WLA2 - 192.168.1.4

    WA2 - 192.168.1.5

WLA1 and WLA2 are connected by a wireless access point.

WA1 and WA2 are connected via L2 switch.

Every time we ping from laptop1 to 192.168.1.4, need the wireless path.

Similarly, when we ping from laptop1 to 192.168.1.5 only need to access wired road.

In addition, if we disable WLA1 in laptop1 and laptop1 192.168.1.4 ping, ping does not occur and ping is successful only if the wireless network adapter is enabled. It does not take the cable path.

    I just sub questions:

-On what basis the route is chosen correctly?

-Can we expect this happens all the time or roads can vary according to certain parameters?

-Why it only takes the path wired when we ping from laptop1 to 192.168.1.4 after having turned off the WLA1.
