WiFi comments at the Public VPN (ASA-5510)
Hello
I have an ASA 5510, that has the following configuration:
interface Ethernet0/0
nameif outside
security-level 0
address IP 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.240 (fake IP for obvious reasons)
interface Ethernet0/1
nameif inside
security-level 100
IP 192.168.0.200:ABCD 255.255.0.0
interface Ethernet0/2
nameif comments
security-level 100
IP 10.10.10.1 255.255.0.0
Global 1 interface (outside)
NAT (inside) 0 access-list sheep
NAT (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
NAT (guest) 0 access-list sheep
NAT (guest) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
-------------------------------
What I do for a client (eth0/2) Wifi comments access to our VPN configured on the external interface? It is a Cisco AnyConnect VPN installation using the mobile client. As it is, they identify the DNS since the WAP and try to connect to "vpn.mysite.com", which resolves itself into the public IP (interface) outside my ASA.
When I was asked first to authorize this change, I thought it would be a simple NAT rule but I think I'm missing something that I can't get this to work.
Thank you
They are not capable of VPN for the external interface of the IP address of the guest network because it is by design not permitted.
They need to connect to the IP comments to be able to VPN to ASA comments network, and you will need to activate AnyConnect on the interface of comments as well. "vpn.mysite.com" would then need to resolve the IP comments when they are connected via the comments interface.

Site to Site VPN - ASA 5510 / 851 router - no Sas?
We have installed an ASA 5510, version 1.0000 software running. In a remote area, we have a Cisco router to 851 with tunneling IPSec VPN for a PIX 515e. I try to open a backup between the 851 and ASA connection new, and I have a problem. I used ASDM on the side of the ASA and CCP on the side 851 and created a new VPN site to site on both, with PSK encryption algorithms, etc.. I checked the connectivity between the external interfaces of the two devices, and the associated ACLs are simple, because they allow all IP traffic on the internal side of the two devices to talk with each other.
When I do a "crypto isakmp to show his" on the SAA, I get "there is no its isakmp. When I do the same on the 851 router, I see only the existing connection to the PIX. It seems that the tunnel does not run again. I turned on debug various crypto and sent a series of pings, and I don't see any tunnel initiaion even be attempted.
CCP has a VPN to test the tool built in to the router. ASDM has a similar feature? Here's the relevant configs (at least I think... the SAA is enough Greek to me):

Michael,
Since you are using the same ACL, subnets, even and even while on your router to your VPN 1 tunnels config and 2, your second VPN tunnel will not succeed because the router already has a tunnel with the PIX for the same traffic.
If you want to configure the ASA as peer backup scratch the second card encryption and instead, add the public IP ASA as a second peer under the original crypto configuration.
Like this:
crypto map SDM_CMAP_1 1 ipsec-isakmp
description Tunnel to65.42.15.142
set peer 65.42.15.142
set peer 12.49.251.3
match address 102
The router will attempt to connect to the PIX and if this fails (which means that the PIX has never responded) then it will try to connect to the ASA.
To test it, you could do either of two things: 1. taking the internet conection low PIX will make the router try to connect to the secondary host. 2: change (temporarily) on the router address peer of the PIX to a bogus IP that won't respond, when only one omits the router must try to negotiate with the ASA.
I hope this helps.

S2S VPN Asa 5510 to 5505 no traffic passing (hair Pulling)
I have one site to another configured between a 5505 and ASA 5510, the tunnel is in place but can not pass any traffic one way or another. A 5510, 8.4.3 while the 5505 was 8.2. I find the version 8.2 the less confusing when configure the VPN. The new NAT throws me for a loop on the 5510. I have 1 tunnel upward and will already and it works fine. But when I do a new online, it won't pass any traffic.
The traffic I'm EFS is 5510 (192.168.180.0/24, 172.25.11.0/24)<-------> 5505 (192.168.197.0/24) many thanks in advance!
Here's the configs for the two.

Hello
The reason for the DECLINE suggests that the ASA has still attached to the L2L VPN VPN filter configuration that prevents traffic.
Check the configuration and remove atleast VPN filter temporarily for testing purposes.

OK my forehead is painful to all keyboard strokes that I know that it must be something simple, but I am brand new to the SAA. I had a site to site VPN configuration via routers 1751 that worked very well, but we're looking to add some more remote field offices, and I felt that it would be easier to maintain several sites is on the ASA 5510. I have the VPN configured on the SAA and he said that the tunnel is up. I can telnet to the ASA and ping the remote gateway on the even side of VPN and it pings fine. If I try to ping on a local computer, I get a "Request timed out". If I makes no changes apart from go to the computer room and replace the network cable the 1751 and then through the 1751 I can now ping the remote door way to my computer. The remote router works obviously very well, my statement of route on my router for vpn push through the ASA (same ip address) IP traffic that has been used by the 1751 works obviously. It seems so just like ASA is not being pushed in the ethernet0/0 VPN traffic or at least it is not encrypted. I also noticed that the ACL for NAT seems to increase in number of access either it seems, there is really just one small thing missing to make the ASA except and encrypt incoming traffic on ethernet0/0:
My network is not configured with a DMZ is something like that, the ASA ethernet0/0 and my local network on the same subnet:
Router (Cisco 2811)
|
Layer switch 2 (ProCurve)
| |
ASA5510 LAN computers
I'm trying to except both sides of the VPN in and out on Ethernet0/0 traffic I saw there was a framework for this "permit communication between VPN peers connected to the same interface' and I've activated this option.
In short, I need to understand why the VPN tunnel shows that upward and I can ping the remote of the SAA, but peripheral gateway on my network can not ping to the remote gateway through the int Ethernet0/0 on the SAA.
From the console of the ASA, I get this:
ASA5510 # ping 192.52.128.1

Thanks in advance for any help... I really hope that it is something really simple as a recruit ASA just forgot
Strange, but good news. Thanks for the update. I'm glad everything is working.

Hello
I want to configure SSL VPN for mobile users on ASA 5510 I have following requirements
> What are the condition of licence on ASA 5510 VPN with Anyconnect SSL?
> VPN users have full access to the local network via ASA
> Authentication method preferred, Local or AD (LDAP)
> users use not laptops should be limited to the Clientless SSL VPN
> How to add a URL is visible to users in the Web page
> Can someone view example configuration for the above requirements
TIA
Hitesh Vinzoda
> If you need both AnyConnect and WebVPN (Clientless SSL VPN), you can buy the AnyConnect Premium license (and this is a base user license). The ASA would come with default 2 SSL VPN license.
> To have full access to the local network, you must use AnyConnect SSL VPN. Here is an example of configuration:
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00808efbd2.shtml
> You can authenticate to AD or Local or RADIUS, etc. By default, this would be local authentication.
> Here's some example configuration for clientless SSL VPN:
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a008072462a.shtml
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00806ea271.shtml
Hope that helps.

IPSEC with the router and asa 5510
Hi all
I have problems connecting ipsec l2l. I have set up a router and asa 5510 make ipsec between them, but it seems to fail on the phase 1. I already check and I am 100% sure that is the key. You can a few shed light on the issue, I have. Here's the output debug I get the two system.
Thank you
Hello
Isakmp policy match on both devices? What version of ios is running on the router and the asa5510
Thank you

With the help of ASA 5510 L2L and VPN L2TP
I would let my remote users access to all resources bhind the ASA and my remote branches.
Here's my setup. ASA5510 as a hub to the data center.
172.21.x.x of internal network directly connected
DMZ directly connected 172.22.1.x.x
L2L branch1 VPN 10.47.x.x
L2L branch2 VPN 10.47.y.x
172.21.y.x remote users L2TP Windows Client
I can access my internal resources related to the ASA but not the DMZ or branch offices. I need injection road routing and reverse?
You also need to configure crossed. http://goo.GL/vLqAR

Access to the LDAP VPN ASA group
Hello, I have configured the access remote vpn on asa with ldap authentication. But I can't limit access vpn with specific ldap group.

Group Policy - by default-RA_ADMIN_GPThe problem is all the domen users can connect to the vpn. ASA does not ranking filter in a group, no VPN_Admin group users can connect, but the man should not be able to connect.
If it is possible to make this approach work, I wouldn't do it this way. Use rather DAP (Dynamic Access Policy).
The instructions for this are here:
Search for "Active Directory group" to jump directly to the corresponding section. Note that you may need two policies DAP. One to match users living in VPN_Admin and another default policy to deny access to everyone.
Note for the default "opt-out" policy, that I often make it pop up a message to the end user, saying that they do not have VPN access and contact xxx if they want to fix it.

Hi MP,.
Based on the configuration below, only traffic since the possible management interface to access the internet.
Global interface (Interface_to_router_Cisco) 101
NAT (management) 101 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
You must include your inside interface in the nat statement if you want to have the traffic within the internet go.
Example:
NAT (Int_Internal_domain) 101 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0

which product is right for the ssl vpn: asa 5505 cisco 1841 or
Hello
I want to install an outside link management related so that we can ssh to our cisco devices and microsoft RDP toour servers. It's my configuration (based on what I know):
Internet > DSL modem > ASA 5505 > management CONSOLES SWITCH > SWITCH CISCO or Windwos Server
or
Internet > 1841 with DSL HWIC > management CONSOLES SWITCH > SWITCH CISCO or Windwos Server
My questions are:
Should I go for ASA or 1841 router?
What options is better? and ASA will do the job?
Are there any technical support prior to purchase of products in Australia? I need technical advice on the choice of the right products, not justs eiling me products.
Hello
Its strongly suggested to go with ASA 5505 in the first place, it is supposed to feature for the main functionality of ssl vpn server from 1841 which has this feature to be a vpn server.
ASDM also gives you the freedom to config box on your own based on your condition.

Cisco Anyconnect/WebVPN license for ASA 5510
Hello
Someone could please check the licenses for ASA 5510 attachment and let me know. We currently have ASA 5510 with basic license. According to the table attached under VPN sessions, he mentions that "250 combined SESSIONS IPSec and WebVPN" and to "Max box of WebVPN Session" it is mentioned that 2nd meeting, exceeding that we must buy license optional webvpn. While we the 250 combined license for IPSec and webVPN. We must purchase additional anyconnect license to set up remote access for users who want to use the internal resources from outside the network. OrElse, we don't have to purchase license and can configure webvpn/anyconnect of existing combined license existing users basic ASA license? Waiting for your response. Thank you.
You are welcome.
1 Yes
2 AnyConnect requires no Java, but it can he use when connecting to one AnyConnect SSL VPN client and launch the Web browser option start Java-based. There was a bug with the AnyConnect old versions had later who should have addresses. You also have the option to launch via IE and using ActiveX or simply throw AnyConnect directly - neither of these two methods require Java.
Here is a document TAC on the Java questions if you want more details.

Split tunnel with ASA 5510 and PIX506.
Hello
I have the production between Asa 5510 (main office) and Pix 506 VPN tunnel. It is configured so that all traffic is encrypted and moves through the tunnel. This includes remote users behind Pix Internet traffic. I would like to use split tunnel and direct Internet traffic hitting the web directly from Pix instead of going through the tunnel. How can I do this safely? Please see current config Pix below:

If you have:
192.168.3.0/24
192.168.4.0/24
10.10.10.0/24
172.16.0.0/16

VPN access list allow 192.x.x.x ip 255.255.255.0 192.168.3.0 255.255.255.0
VPN access list allow 192.x.x.x ip 255.255.255.0 192.168.4.0 255.255.255.0
VPN access list allow 192.x.x.x ip 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0
VPN access list allow 192.x.x.x 255.255.255.0 ip 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0
Then when the traffic is destined for something other than these networks, it will go not to the ISP instead of the tunnel.
HTH,
John

ASA 5510 VPN - using a public IP address for the local network
Hello, I have a problem which is probably very simple, but I can't seem to understand.
I set up a site IPsec connection to another with a company, something I've done many times before without a problem. I use ASDM to configure this, because it is quick and painless, usually.
We have one number of other site-to-site currently configured connections and works very well on this ASA, these are configured with the "Protected network - LAN" configured with the IP private of hosts within our network, we want to make available through the separate tunnels. This includes the configuration setting on our ASA for each connection to "guests aside ASA exempt from NAT.
With this new link, however, the company asked us to use a public IP address for the host that we want to achieve through the tunnel. I don't know why, but they demand it. So I added a NAT rule for inside the host and set up the connection with the public IP address under "Local network". During the test to try to reach a host to their side, the tunnel didn't even try to open.
What is the method here? I don't see where I'm wrong. I'm guessing that the 'host side ASA exempt from NAT' does not require for this, how if the ASA would know which internal host is the public IP address.
Any ideas?
Hi Leo,
The steps are:
1. Add the policy rule NAT for the specific host.
2 - define the IP NAT as your LOCAL NETWORK address in the encryption settings.
3 make sure that there is no rule NAT exempt for this host to the specific destination.
What happens if you run a package tracer?
Thank you.
