Win 7 printer network Question

I have a printer Canon Pixma MX882, with two desktop PC and a laptop, (all Windows 7) with FIOS Actiontec router. The 2 PC's connected by ethernet directly to the router, then the laptop uses a wireless connection. I need to print from all three computers. Until recently, the printer has had a direct USB connection to a PC, and I print from other PC and laptop sharing the connection of the first PC to a USB printer. Recently, I got tired of having to get up the first PC to print through it, I gave up the USB connection and using the installer of Canon on the original disk, reconfigured each work station so that the printer and two computers have direct wired to the router. It works very well. My problem is to get the laptop to print over the network. I have full working wifi connection from the laptop to the network, but I don't know how to get the laptop to recognize / connect to the printer. I tried using the window "Add printer" in the window "devices and printers", but it is not fully connect. The printer appears to install the drivers, but the icon of the printer Canon eventually grayed out in the "devices and printers" window. When I try to print a test page for it, nothing happens. Any suggestions? Can I use the Canon Setup disk to connect the laptop, and if so, what choice LAN do during the installation: Wired? WiFi? I tried the whole other road to manually set the IP address of the printer, etc, but no go. Suggestions? Also, if this is posted in the topic wrong forum, please advise. Thank you!

Can I use the Canon Setup disk to connect the laptop, and if so, what choice LAN do during the installation: Wired? WiFi?

Yes, it's exactly what you need to do.   If you run a workstation installation of work (as opposed to a printer setup assistant), the choice will be between a network or a USB connection.  (Wired or wireless is not relevant), when you select network, configuration normally search the network printer and set your driver accordingly.

The JDD info is a bit misleading.  There are few printers that make the user to connect by USB first to install a driver.  This is the exception rather than the rule.  The printer should be on and connected to the network when you run the workstation installation program.

BTW, for all your computers in order to access the printer, it is immaterial that the printer is connected to your Wireless router or Ethernet cable.  It is a common point of confusion.  Your computers communicate with the printer via your router and can do wired or wireless.  How the router communicates to the printer is a separate issue and makes no difference from the point of view of a workstation.  The rule is - if the printer will be located near the router, using a wired connection for optimal speed and reliability.  If you want to locate the printer elsewhere where you cannot use ideally a cable use wireless.

  • OT: Printing Production Question (fold - in cover)

Allright, it is a matter of impression, but I think the people on this forum knows the answer!

Every year, I'm working on a program Guide that has a size of 3.625 "wide x 8.75 pad" in height.  It has a cover of 4 panels including the folds in the back. The coverage is 3.625 "wide (like the rest of the book), but each of the other 3 panels is successively. 125 "narrower than the Panel next to him.  This means that the back cover is in fact only 3.5 "wide so it bends in a Word, such that it does not quite fully cover the width of pages in the book.  As it is in the back and not so visible, it doesn't really matter.

And in case this section is hard to follow, here's a Visual:

    http://www.rotor.com/temp/CoverFoldingInstructions.PDF

I worked from an existing template to create this cover, so I have not modified these dimensions (essentially the Guide always has been this way, so we kept going with it).

My question is: does need to fold anyway?  This model is incorrect?  My colleagues want the fold, partly moved to the front of the book (making cover stir rather than the back), but I'm guessing that the short trick was to prevent the various folds in the lid to get ready.  However, I do not understand the printing process enough to know for sure (and I wasn't there when the model has been designed so don't know what was the logic).

If both covers have the same width, would cause problems in the production?  Is it necessary for the production of bending anyway?  These guides are sewn way SADDLER.  I don't know when the cut occurs in the process, but I guess the short fuse is so the folds are out of the way of the mower (?).

I hope this question makes sense.  I'm trying to figure out if say to my co-workers that they should or should not move the folding part forward.  I will definitely talk to him about the printer before changing the template, but I just hope to get feedback and advice here that we will have a meeting on the various changes we could make in this guide.  Unfortunately, I almost never have a chance to actually visit a printing press, or I might be able to look at a part of the production in the process (and get a better idea of how things work).

    Thank you for any input,

    Phyllis

    @ phyllis

not to mention the printer in question, I guess that the back cover Panel would be shorter, so that when the three le trois-couteau coupe haut, bas et foredges hors de le livre, - knife cutting up, down and foredges out of the book, he did not cut the plate of the fold. We do precisely that at my job when we have these books like this, that are not common. the. 125 "smaller for each Panel is so that no air pockets form when the pages fold on themselves.

the three-knife is actually three knives in two passes: the first pass was the knife that removes the foredge of book; the second passage has two knives in a block that cuts the top and down on the book that the book becomes finite dimension. This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQDViu3hPhc (one minute into the video, even if it's for burst books / sewn) works in the same principle.

I don't agree that it is a double parallel fold, however, it is a roll fold. a double parallel would be if the sheet folded in half. and then which folded in half. This is not what is happening here - is a quarter folding in another quarter and then embed in another quarter, which means that the first folded page is hidden.

There are international standards for models of fold - take a look on google for the file 'catalog 1.4.3 paging. the model described by phillis is on p15 and F8-6 model, while a double parallel is on the same page but is model F8-2.

to make sure that I have not misunderstood I quickly mocked up to an equivalent that I would like to use it here in Australia (metric over here) and screengrabbed:

HP LaserJet M1120n MFP, CC459A, Windows 7 64 - bi t. No network printing since I have new laptop with Win 7 64 bit. I'm going to change printer too?

OK, well, maybe there are even more options.  Not sure it will work, but try:

    1. make sure the printer is on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by accessing its IP address before continuing. Get his IP address for a network Test printed on the front of the printer.
    2. click on > start > Control Panel > devices & Printers.
    3. click on add a printer
    4. Select local printer
    5. Select create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port, and click Next.
    6. under device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under the name of host or IP address, enter the IP address of the printer. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard in the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model is not in the list, then select disk provided, browse the CD that came with your HP printer and select the first file begins with hp and ending with INF. click Open, then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If prompted, use the driver that is currently installed.
    9. He will ask the name of the printer - enter a new name or use the one existing. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. we may ask you to share the printer. Choose No.
    11. the printing area of Test Page is displayed. Go ahead and print it out.
    12. click on finish.

Works fine in Win - 7.
    What I'm missing here?

Take your post literally, a "network printer" means a printer connected directly to your network with its own IP address (and not a "shared printer", which is directly connected to one of your computers and shared on the network).

A problem that frequently occurs with printers network, especially when new devices are added to the network (for example, your new PC) while the printer is turned off, is that your router assigns a new IP address to the printer.  Your existing installation of the printer in most cases does not know the new IP address and then stacks of print jobs in the queue, waiting for a printer to connect to the IP address specified during the first installation of the printer.

The way to avoid this problem is to configure the printer to have a static IP address, configure each computer to use this static IP address and forget it.

To find the IP address of your printer, read the User Guide for the printer to determine how to print or display the network status report.

If your printer is installed, right-click on its icon in the printers and Faxes folder, select properties and click on the Ports tab.  The port of your printer should be "HP Standard TCP/IP Port."  Do NOT click anywhere in the list of ports, but click on the button "Configure Port".  Compare the port with the port that you have found the printer itself.

Some HP printer drivers include a box on the Configuration of the Port sheet who always says 'print to this device, even if its IP address changes.'  I have not found that it's reliable, but if you want to try it, you'll need determine 'Host name' the printer and that instead of a numeric IP address.  The guide of the user for more details.  Configure the printer to use a static IP address is much safer work.

If you are still experiencing difficulties reinstalling your printer, see His Article first.  Be sure to follow step 4.  Generally, HP network printers are much easier to install using the installation 'complete' package from HP (the CD, for example) rather than simply downloading "driver only".  The only downside is that all the other garbage software HP is then installed also.

Microsoft, Norton and HP offer no solutions in the forums, or with technical support.  It is a home network, 3 computers, 1 printer, 1 router.  The printer is the cable to the port on the router.

It seems that the installation package OJ_AIO_6500vE709_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe missing something, since the old version worked fine in Win 8 until it has been updated to the new version.

We did some research on this problem and it is caused by a file being in the wrong directory when the installation is done.

That's why scanning works programs MSPaint or Windows scanning and Fax but not HPs Scan App.

The indications are very simple and are as follows

    1. Find the folder where 7zip extracted your web pack (the directory starts with 7Z)
    2. In this folder, navigate to the drivers\scanner\x32\ folder.
    3. Copy the HPWTIOP4. DLL from that folder to the Program Files (x 86) \HP\DigitalImaging\Bin folder

    I hope this helps.

  • SOLUTION: Get Win 7 printer drivers/HP Solution Center for work on Windows 8

Took me some time to understand it, but I managed to do the work.

    First of all, the preliminaries:

I have a laptop HP dv9700t running the 64-bit version of Windows 8 Pro RTM (not the preview, but I guess it will work as well on the preview).  My printer is a HP Photosmart C7280.  If you have a different printer, it is possible that something similar to how I solved my problem will help you, especially by running your installation in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode files.

Windows 8 is provided with printer C7280 stock drivers that work by going to control panel > printers and devices > add a printer, but there is only limited to those features.  As such, I wanted to run the HP Setup files have increased functionality.

Unfortunately, when I run the full installer of HP for my printer, there was no button 'Install a printer', or one of the other usual buttons.  There was only one button "quit".

Here's how to let him run and install correctly.

Right click on the HP full installation file, then properties > compatibility > then check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for:", select "Windows 7" in the drop-down list box, then click on 'OK'.

Run the installation file as you would normally in Windows 7.

I tried this two ways... first when you're connected via a USB cable.  It works perfectly without error.

I also tried with the printer connected to the network via WiFi.  A few problems.

The installation program detects my printer very well, and I clicked 'Next' or 'OK' or whatever the prompt was to install the printer.  The installation would hang 'Response of SNMP' (or something similar) and it would list the IP address of my printer.  I waited, waited, waited for an hour, and it would not go beyond that.  Not to worry.

Proceed with the normal installation until you get the message 'Response of SNMP' and the installation fails.

Enter with CTRL-ALT-DEL Task Manager.  You will see an entry in the 'Apps' to the installer of HP... DROP.

Below the "Apps" list, you will see the list of "background processes".  In this list is something along the lines of "HP Network Interface user", or something similar, consuming a significant amount of CPU.  Highlight this entry and click "End task" downstairs.

The "SNMP" window closes and your installer will end then normally and your printer/fax/scanner will be installed correctly.  HP Solution Center works normally, like printing, scanning, etc.

The next person who uses that will give a few comments and also answer a few questions for me so I can update this post with more specific information?

Please let me know what is the exact "SNMP" message when the installation is blocked.  Please let me also know that the exact name of the background process "HP Network User Interface" is, and the name of app Installation HP.

I hope this will help you.

Glad to hear that a form any of my solution works for others.

  • Printer network 160 E - studio does not work in my office network

    Hi Toshiba team,

I ' v got a Toshiba e-studio 160 network printer/scanner/fax in my office and I want everyone in the office (network) has access to the printer and scanner functions of the e-studio without using a computer 'server' that must be connected to the local parallel port of the printer. In other words, the printer is connected over TCP/IP and a RJ45 cable to my switch to the office.

The printer configured with a valid IP address, but in my Office I havn't no matter what WINS server, the configuration field is empty and unused ones. I tried several different methods, but I can't access the printer via TCP/IP. Just the 'PING' command works correctly. I expected that the printer appears in the Windows file sharing folders, but it doesn't. Furthermore, all my computers are equipped with Microsoft Windows XP. I read somewhere in a Board of Directors that a guy has solved this problem by using a program called "P2P", but I couldn't find something like that.

With original Toshiba drivers, it is only possible to exploit this local printer or on a print share Windows function, but I don't want that a machine is running all the time.

I hope someone can help me with my problem.

    Best regards

Also sent one when you're connected via USB. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know how or why, but I came this morning, plugged the network cable in the plotter, initialized, and in some sort the IP config had passed from manual back to DHCP and picked up a new address. I changed the config manual, keeping the new IP address. Decided that I would try once more to add the Tracker on the network. You know, the sonofagun worked. I had activated impression more than 9100 last week, thinking the same thing you Milo. But after I did it, there was no change. Maybe it was just to take the time to update?
