No more FireWire on T430?

Hi all. Does anyone have an idea why there are no more a FireWire interface on the T430 thinkpads? The interface is dead so that Lenovo does not it it more? Or my T430 is a kind of low series of range and others have it?

Thanks for your responses and thoughts about this

Not a lot of people use firewire more, and it is eliminated slowly. FireWire is optional on the T420, and most of the machines have been shipped without firewire. Perhaps due to low demand, Lenovo decided that it was simply not worth to have it more on the machine.

Can someone help me: I just bought the version 14 Adobe first element in replacement of version 7. Unfortunately, version 14 can't seem to purchase from my Sony DCR-TRV120E-PAL camera while version 7 acquired, without any problem. The Win 7 recognizes also the camera system. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

First elements 13/13.1 and 14 have more firewire DV HDV Capture in the first Capture window elements function. The latest version which has this feature is first elements 12/12.1. Please refer to the document Adobe that describes the situation and offers workarounds.

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/premiere-elements/KB/removed-features-formats-elements.html

The document applied to 13/13.1 and 14.

You can capture in another applications and then import the captures in a project of first 14 elements with add Media/files and folders. Examples

  • . CS4 is satisfactory entered USB?

I am looking to buy video cameras for our school of art. It seems that cameras (Sony) have more FireWire connections. CS4 is satisfactory entered USB? (We can upgrade to CS5 next year.)

I don't think you'll find any pro NLE level which will have a stream from a USB to video input.

Most of the cameras with a USB connection are likely to be based on files (card CF or SD, P2, hard drive, etc.) and not on the Ribbon.  Thus, you don't need to "capture".  You just use your choice File Explorer to copy media from the camera to the computer's hard drive, and then import them into the NLE here.

  • T430s, boots or more enter BIOS

    Hi all

    A rather difficult challenge:

I got a new T430s a few days ago. It worked well, with Windows 7. I started working on it for a few days, with several reboots. I couldn't get into the BIOS. Now, I created a backup image of the Windows 7 partition and the partition called as 'sysdrv', using a CD boot Acronis image. It went very well, the system booted from the CD and created a backup on an external USB hard drive. After finishing, I closed the program Acronis. Since then, the T430s no longer starts. It crashes with the following message:

"Initializing Intel Boot Agent GE v1.3.81; PXE 2.1 Build 091 (WfM 2.0). The cursor flashes below.

I tried pressing ENTER at the beginning, that works. In the menu, I can select either F1 to enter the BIOS or F12 to choose the temporary boot device, but both options lead me to the same text as above, with cursor flashing. The option F10 to run diognostics works and can't find no error.

We tried with another CD bootable, no effect. The optical drive appears quickly, but after a few seconds, the system hangs with the same message.

So, in conclusion: I can't start Windows 7, I can't get into the BIOS, I can not change the boot order. Does not even Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart. I can only press the button for 2 seconds to stop it.

    Thanks for your suggestions

Thank you all for the advice. Yes I thought also to disconnect the CMOS battery for a minute. But in the end, I did not do and called for support from Lenovo instead. They advised me something similar: unplug the power cable, remove the battery (not the CMOS backup battery) and then press the power button for 15 secnds. I guess it's something similar to remove the underside of the keyboard backup battery.

Given that nothing has changed after this procedure, they advised me to send to their repair center. That's what I was doing, and I'm waiting to get him back. I didn't mess with backup battery, since it's a whole new Notebook - so they should be worried.

  • FireWire 800, USB 3.0

I have an older iMac that has a Firewire 800 port and no USB 3.0.

I would like to use the Firewire 800 port and convert it into a USB 3.0 with some sort of connection.

This way I can take advantage of the most recent items USB 3.0...

    Is this possible?

doubt firewire800 is slower then usb3, but many usb3 devices would probably work with just more slow usb2

  • Stroke of lightning or USB3.0 external Firewire Mac?

My 2011 MBP works still strong, but the FW and USB 2.0 are not keeping up with the external storage options: I can't see any external SSD FW option for backups of 1 TB, and my needs backup are currently between 2 and 3 TB.

Googling suggests no conversion option (aside from a separate computer with FW and USB3.0 ports) for connecting USB3.0 external to the FW port; and the last post, I've seen questions about external lightning to the FW port on the computer (here, from 2013) has confirmed that the Apple adapter is an external FW way to the Thunderbolt Mac port.

Another option again I missed connections more quick-as-USB 2.0 for a > 1 TB to a FireWire mac external SSD drive?

I guess you can always make your own. MacSales.com has some good ideas... I've seen some with Firewire and USB 3.0, but not much with Thunderbolt, Firewire and USB 3.0.  I don't think that you can really connect 3 USB firewire, but I could be wrong, and I do not think that there is a USB 3 map, you could add to your MacBook Pro 2011. You could try a dock any. I'm sure that your MacBook Pro is not built in thunderbolt.

  • Problems with the Firewire Audio Interfaces

I use a Presonus Firebox for all of my recording and playback. I just bought a new pc HP with Vista64 and I had problems with my audio since then. Symptoms include random audio dropouts, crackling sounds when you scroll through the menus in my software, no noise at all from windows media, no windows generally sound player. Everything works sometimes, but inevitably fails. Once the audio is de-energized my only solution is to restart the computer, and then it still doesn't work sometimes. I don't understand. My last computer was a couple of years and built the hand. It worked perfectly with this unit until the motherboard is dead after what I bought my new HP desktop with terrible results. The main difference between my pc and this one is that I was using XP and XP64. However, I have the right drivers for the home and the computer recognizes it but I can't operate consistantly and correctly. This new HP has more power than my last, and more then enough power for my needs recording software. I would like to know, I've been recording music on PC for 8 years. Any advice would be welcome.

I am now convinced that the long nightmare is finally over. I tested my home over and over again with no failures. Record and playback midi seem to work perfectly. Here's what I did:

1 optimized my computer for audio streaming using the guide written by sweetwater.com.

2 uninstall all the drivers from Presonus and all software, including the removal of all PreSonus files on the registry using the instructions provided by the technical support of PreSonus.

3 disabled WLAN and then physically disconnected from the motherboard.

    4. my computer has two firewire ports. The front port was connected to the motherboard via a short cable. I physically unplugged the cable from the motherboard.

    5. I bought an Express(1x) PCI firewire 400 card with a Texas Instruments chipset. The exact brand is inner Pro PCI Express(1x) 4 port 1394 a. The firewire card is a power port. I plugged the power jack on the same line, connected to the DVD player. I don't know if it's important, but I'll try to document EXACTLY what I did. The firewire card requires no driver work. It came with a disc with a B.S. video editing software I was not installed.

    6. I turned on my computer and disabled the built-in firewire in Device Manager, leaving only the new active firewire card.

    7. I installed the drivers from the Firebox from the original disc supplied with my unit (v1.20.0). I had good results from these pilots in the past that may be because I use XPsp2.

    8. I have connected the combustion chamber when prompted to by the installation software.

    9. rebooted the computer with the combustion chamber connected and everything's fine.

    By the way:

The inner firewire card cost me $ 30.00

    My computer specs are:
    HP a6745f desktop
Dual core AMD 5050e 2.6 GHz
    XP sp2
    GigsRAM 4 (3.25 because I'm on XP)

If you are confused in the store on the question of whether a firewire card uses a Texas Instruments chipset. Try to get a glance at the map. You should see a chip bearing the logo of TI: the State of Texas, w / Ti. YeeeeeeeHawwwww!

  • Satellite Pro L300 - what with firewire port express card?

I have a Satellite Pro L300. It doesn't have a Firewire (iLINK) port, I need to capture video from my Sony Handycam footage.

I am wanting to buy a card Express of Firewire. Anyone know what model is compatible with my laptop which runs on Windows Vista (and where I can buy it)?

I bought a Belkin Firewire notebook adapter, but it is not compatible with Windows Vista and it does not seem to fit. It seems to be too big for the express card slot.

    Hello

Generally, all cards Express should be compatible.
You should google for firewire EpressCard.
You will get many more hits...

  • Slow down the FireWire 800 Port

I'm rocking an iMac 2011 2.5 with 16 GB of RAM, running 10.11. Recently, I came to realize that my firewire drives are not as fast running they have on other Macs. I have two drives of Garland, a LaCie 2Big Triple and a G-Drive, both using Firewire 800. On two drives, I have a maximum of 60 MB/sec in reading, 40 MB/s write - tested using BlackMagic and AJA. I tried all the logical steps: swapping different cables, test drives individually [instead of Garland], reformat them and test again, all with the same result. I even tried to turn off FileVault on my internal drive, although I can't imagine why it would make a difference. These same readers have been tested in the same configuration with a 2011 MacBook Pro 13 ", also running El Capitan and saw regular speeds of 75 MB/s read, 70 MB/s in writing.

Anyone have any ideas? I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.

Once more, here are the technical specifications of the equipment involved:

    • Mid 2011 iMac 21.5 ", i5 Quad 2.5 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB HARD drive. Running OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan.
    • G - Drive 5th generation, with Hitachi 7200 RPM 2 TB drive. formatted in HFS +, connected via FW800
    • LaCie 2Big Triple, with two 1 TB drives in a striped RAID.

    Only for small problems.

In OS X system prefs, under the energy saver, try to uncheck "put hard drives to sleep as much as possible."

In addition, try to set your display to sleep, but not your computer to sleep, to see if the car and transfer speeds pick up.

Make sure that you have no other devices FW 400 slower chained, as optical drives FW400 external, slower.

Connections by default FW protocols all speeds of data transfer for the slower speed of the FW Protocol devices.

    Good luck!

  • the start-up of the firewire drive how to again install ssd internal?

Hi, I have not used assistant Migration but opted for clean installs the upgrade from 2009 to 2015 MBP.

I'm good to go except the old is only bootable from disk firewire external, how to take the exact image of what I use (mess on the desktop and documents!) more to the internal ssd that I already deleted and partitioned?

I want it essentially as it looks and works from the firewire drive, now start and look just as it does internal ssd

Do I need to initiate a new installation of El Cap first of all on the ssd? or is there a tool/way to copy such existing firewire bootable environment on the internal hard drive?

Thank you for taking the time to examine this problem.

    Rick

Although apparently you can start an external drive to snow leopard, it will not work if installed on the internal drive. As it is not backward compatible.  Otherwise I would say cloning the drive on the internal drive. Migration wizard is the only thing I can tell you to use. But be aware that some of the apps for Snow Leopard will not run in the new computer and the operating system. You should see if there are updates for them. Then you need to recreate the desktop again.

  • Satellite M100 - is a disabled firewire port saves battery power?

    Hey everybody

    I'm not so IEEE...
If I disable firewire in Device Manager it will stop it and it will help save the battery?

    Hi Dmitrij

I doubt that disabled firewire port will help to save the battery.
If you want to save battery power, you should check the options and settings of Toshiba Power Saver.

    Check the HowTO document
+ How to configure my computer for optimal use of battery? +
You can find it in the Forum s box HowTo.

If you are using Vista, then I recommend that you check the Vista power settings.
More details you will find in "HowTo" doc:

  • FireWire 400 and 800 speed question

I recently bought one of these cords off of eBay for a few dollars.  I have an old external WD which was connected by usb 1.0.  I thought I could get more speed with this cord, but I get all the same read and write speeds of close to 23MBS.

Any ideas why the speed is slow?  Cord? By car?

    Thank you!

    USB 1.0 MAX is 12 Mbps, which is 1.5 Mbps. (b = bit, B = byte [8-bit]).

FireWire 400 MAX is 400 Mbps, which is 50 MB/s.

Without knowing the specifications of the car, I guess that the "old external WD' performance is the limiting factor.

  • Want to office 750-055xt: FireWire-HP

After the purchase of my HP I noticed that I don't have an i.LINK FireWire IEEE 1394 cable port to transfer my Sony DCR-TRV240 camcorder movies. I understand that I need to buy and install a special card in the x 16 or X 1 PCIe expansion.

    My questions are:

What is the best, x 1 or x 16?  I recommend PCIE x 1.  It's a little slower, but it leaves your PCIE x 16 slot open for a discrete video card.  You will probably want one if you game.
Can I low profile?  Either we have to work.  Here is an example.  If you want more information you can contact the Technical Support of StarTech for suggestions or help.  They are very good.  I've used them several times.
Do I need to have a connect the power supply to it?  Most of the Add on Firewire cards is a useless.
Will I need additional software?  Normally, no.  However, if software is required it will be delivered with the card.

Thanks in advance for your help. I should have studied this before buying.  You are welcome.
