win xp pro max ram

What is the maximum physical ram Windows XP Pro will support?

I read a few sites and no one is constant over a predetermined number. They say 2-4 gig so some say there is a switch to allow 3 or 4 or something.

Is there a definitive answer, and if I exceed this limit it slows down the process?

Exceeding it slows down the CPU? I need to change flies or change something?

Since you said "go beyond" I assume you have 32-bit.

With more than 4 GB and RAM only it will slow down, but XP 32 bit will not see the extra RAM.

I want to upgrade my PC and I am running 2 GB of ram DDR3 - can get 16gig ram (ooh lala) so I was wondering if the Ram is on my list of things to do or an expense I don't have.

Unless you use programs that require a lot of RAM, 2 GB is fine for XP.

If you have XP 32 bit will be be wasting money by buying 16 GB of RAM - she will not see the extra RAM past 4 GB.

You can save money and just buy 4 GB of RAM.

    Hello:

I have the above referenced PC and want to add an SSD (boot with OS drive).  I would like to make this my c: drive ssd.  I want to keep the Windows 7 operating system.  I made the disarmament recovery disks I opened the PC.  I don't want to win 10.

I thought I was doing a 512 GB SSD.  The system came with Win 10 Pro 64 bit installation floppies, but I'm used to and prefer to use Win 7.  The idea of cloning seems interesting.  In fact, it looks to the ticket.  What cloning software is recommended.  The priority of the boot in the BIOS change after cloning?  I am concerned with what type of SSD should I purchase (interface, transfer rate, etc.), what cables, if any, and which adapters will be necessary?

At work, I have all my computers run with SSD (OS/startup) and they run like rockets.  This new computer runs great, but with a SSD for the start, program files, "scratch disks", I'll be in the drive hyper.  I'd be in Mary for a bargain price.

Yet once again, thank you very much for you answer quickly.  I have several Dell optiplex computers in office and did not have a problem.

  • Satellite Pro M40 RAM fit laptop model L650?

    Hello

I recently upgraded from my Satellite Pro M40 to a L650 because the M40 is dead.
I was wondering if I could use the ram that I put in, in the L650?

I'm guessing it will not, but thought I'd ask just in case.

    Thank you

Sorry, but I don t know why this combination. Max RAM on M40 is 2x1GB and I think you're in L650 2x2gb. Right?

It makes no sense to me.
I put t know what L650 you have exactly, but some models can be upgraded up to 8 GB, so it will be better for you to upgrade with a 4 GB of RAM L650. Part number is PA3677U-1M4G.

By the way: there are different bus clock etc new notebook you should only use modules compatible and faster.

If your computer identifies more fully with the specifications here, http://mactracker.ca database

it would be considered a MacBook Pro (17-inch, mid 2010) using MacBook/Pro 6.1 model identifier:

And if confirmed (see fact sheet + serial number at everymac.com search) and then Max RAM 8 GB:

  • P50 win 10 Pro - footprints digital has stopped working

    Hi all

I just got my P50 (20EQS00600, M1000M, i7-6700HQ, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB SSD) about a week ago and I quite like it. However, there is one thing that drives me crazy: after that I upgraded to Win 7 Pro 64 bit for win 10 Pro, the fingerprint feature has stopped working. This issue seems to be related to those reported in these two threads for the P70, but at the same time appears sufficiently different to warrant a new post:

    https://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-series-mobile/P70-fingerprint-software-issue/m-p/22517...

    https://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-series-mobile/fingerprint-and-sound-problems-P70/TD-p/...

So, here is what I did:

    (1) I correctly installed Win 10 w/o retaining data/settings from the previous installation of Windows 7; I even reformatted the SSD drive.

    (2) for the initial installation, was asked by Windows Hello register prints I've done.

    (3) fingerprint worked during the first connection, but then disappeared as if by magic. Hello Windows is no longer appears as a connection option in the control panel of Win.

    (4) I found in Device Manager the Synaptics WBDI reported the following problem: "this device cannot start. (Code 10) ".

    (5) repeated uninstall and reinstall drivers are without success. I tried both have Win a driver and manual to install the drivers I downloaded from Lenovo page.

    (6) when I uninstalled the drivers and then wiped the fingerprints stored in the BIOS, I was again able to register fingerprints with Windows Hello. However, this time the fingerprints were not yet registered in Windows, and I had to cancel the procedure. Immediately after, the Synaptics driver stopped working, cf. 4).

I am at a loss what to do. Strange thing is that I ran Win 7 for about a week, and the fingerprint reader worked fine all the time. (Due to the scaling of the questions on my 4 k screen, I bit the bullet and went to win 10, in case you're wondering.)

So everyone out there has the same problem, does anyone have a solution?

Thank you in advance and the best,

    A

OK, I'm going a little crazy here. Yesterday I received my win 7 pro 64 bit lenovo recovery disks. After about 3 hours installation and update, everything is great. My sl now uses 7.84 the 8 GB of ram, I installed. I arrested him for the night and when I come home from work the next day my wireless is now on the fritz. It will only turn on if I go through the whole diagnose routine problem that irritating suggests then I applied the fix to turn on my wireless... 5 minutes later the radio wireless magically turns off again. I made sure I have the latest version of the driver and even tried to roll back the driver. Any help would be, as always, be appreciated!

OK, a full stop was apparently the fix. I was restarting all the time, but after a total stop and a break, I came back energized and everything seems to go well until now. I'll post again if the problem resurfaces.

  • can I switch from win xp pro sp3 Windows XP Professional x 64

I have an old computer Pentium (32 bit system) (2001) with max memory 2 GB and I wish to Exchange my c: drive to a new 64-bit computer that has the capacity of up to 16 GB of memory.  I am currently using win xp pro sp3 and I don't want to move to Vista or 7 because I'm very comfortable with win xp pro screens.  I'm assuming that win xp Pro x 64 edition is similar for win xp pro in that regard.  Current box has four scsi drives, 2 CD/DVD, 4 pci for creating music cards readers, card Radeon video (2 screens), 2.2 GHz Intel Pentium CPU, 2 GB memory Rambus.  I'm go to Gigabyte GA45T-ES3G-ATX, CPU 3.0 Ghz 775, 16 GB memory Kingston Hyper X, videocard PNY 450NVS Quadro (4 screens), 2 SSD drives (100(c drive)/500 GB).  I opted for the Gigabyte motherboard because it has a pcie x 16 video card and 5 pci slots.  I use software Cakewalk mainly which has a capacity of 64-bit and some of my cards have drivers 64-bit available.  Other software will be able to run in 32-bit mode (x 86).

My plan is to clone the c: drive current, load it on the new ssd drive and upgrade to Win xp Pro x 64 load if possible.

    Andrea

First and most importantly, there is no way to upgrade from XP 32 bit to 64 bit, you must perform a "clean installation" of the 64-bit version and then reinstall your applications. Don't forget to back up your data files.

Secondly because the card mother old and new are very different (device drivers and chipset), it is unlikely that, after cloning your hard drive to an SSD, the computer would even start.

I'd rather you 32-bit version of Windows XP is a 'Reticular Full' version (OEM versions are related to the 1st motherboard it is installed on and can not be activated on another motherboard) is to reinstall XP 32 Bit to one of your SSD drives (you did not mention RAID), then install the drivers from Gigabyte.

If you must go the 64-bit road know that 64-bit XP was not very well supported by software vendors and is not widely used.

Also note that this socket 775 motherboard uses memory DDR3 and no common DDR2 for cards 775 mothers socket.

  • Win xp pro windows error Just agravating nodisk

I have an error message popping up when you first start, it has something to do with the hard drive.  on the error message it say on the very top of page windows-nodisk, under this title, it says Exception processing message c0000013 parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6f7c, I can get rid of it by clicking Cancel 3 or 4 times but she jumps again & I struck again to cancel & he spent until the next time I start up. the computer gurus.  (Sorry, but I can't explain either)

It would be interesting to know what your system brand and model is and what your version XP and the Service Pack, but it's just a fantasy of mine that the Microsoft Answers forum would actually make for such things when a new issue is created.  This shortfall in crude in the development of MS Answers forums unnecessarily prolongs solving simple problems.

If you don't see a message like this:

No disk, Exception Processing Message c0000013 parameters 75b6bf7c 475b6bf7c 75b6bf7c

Until you can determine what the 'real' problem is with your hardware, you can disable the pop-up message by making a registry adjustment.

Before making changes to the registry, back up your registry with this free and easy to use tool popular:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Regedit

Click OK to open the registry editor, navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows

In the right pane, check the value of the ErrorMode setting.

If ErrorMode is set to 0, double click on ErrorMode and set 2 (2 = disabled).

Click OK to save the changes, and then click file, exit to close the registry editor.

Reboot your system and check the things now.

Any error will always be displayed in case view the log, but you won't see any popups

You plan to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7.

If the answer is Vista, and then you perform an upgrade on the spot, that will keep all your applications and data intack. Note the bare minimum of RAM/memory you need for Vista is 2 GB and it runs slower than XP.

If the answer is Windows 7, then your only choice is a "custom" / Clean install which means that you must back up all your data file (on external support) and then once the upgrade is complete and then install applications. ". Memory required for Windows 7 are 1 GB for 32-Bit OS or 2 GB for the 64-bit operating system.

  • How can I determine if my system runs Win XP Pro 64-bit?

I use Win XP Pro and works very well. I was wondering if I could run on my Pentium 4 3.04 Ghz, Northwood Hyperthreaded 64 bit version?

I tried the command systeminfo and it opens a window, reads my system and immediately closes before I can read the results. There is another parameter of the command line that would keep the window open?

Which is why upgrading to 64 - bit, I run a few games that would take advantage of my 4 gigs of RAM if I had the upgraded operating system, also think to come to upgrade my computer soon and wanted first to get the new OS first and get it to run, if possible. If I buy it and can not test to make sure I have a viable Microsoft OS and functional, I'll be stuck with it and no available return. It's probably a few months before I finished it to get parts for my new computer. I want XP Pro because I'm used to and because it has less bloating than the newer OS.
