When I release the entries (ctrl + ALT) before this lock in Windows happens, host entries are locked too. I have that once had no entry lock, when I logged in as an administrator. I use the latest version of the reader the latest VMware tools.

  • Finger print reader does not connect for Win7 Logon Screen

    Win7 Ultimate 64 bit

    5.9.4 fingerprint software

Biometric accepted link to windows Logon

    Client Domain Server MS

At the start of the system, the logon screen appears and the fingerprints light is 'on '. I scan my finger, the light blinks once and no presentation of the Windows password in the logon window. I have to enter password.

Lenovo support asked me to uninstall software, of the clear BIOS saved digital fingerprints then re - install (and re-record). I did it twice without any change.

It worked until I had to break the connection of field (server change) and re log on to the domain with the same opening of session and password. It was at this time that the finger print reader stopped passing the biometric password to the BONE.

Any thoughts on how to re - connect the reader to open a session?

If you enter the control panel and search for "biometric" you should have an option to 'change the biometric parameters '. If you click this option, you should have a checkbox indicating "Allow users to log on to a domain by using their fingerprints", make sure that having checked if you want to connect with a domain account using your fingerprint. When remove you / add the computer to a domain, so I believe that this option will be restored back to being disabled must be re-activated.

  • IE seems to be locking up my normally stable Win7 Pro.

I've been running Win7 Pro for a week.  Its been pretty easy & much faster than XP.  I did a full install on a hard drive again instead of an update.  Last night, I added a gadget (Vista clock Radio) and was www.COtrip.org (since the pass was closed last night) using IE.  The computer is locked until this morning (keyboard & mouse were unresponsive).  I had to do a hard power & light.  When I returned to www.cotrip.org, I blocked twice more.  I was installing my email & mobile alerts when this happened this morning, but not last night.

I tried to install an update from windows a minute ago & it failed.  This is a first for me on Win7.  The update was a Broadcom Bluetooth driver for my thinkpad.  The failure code is 800F020B.  Unknown if this is related, but seems a coincidence.

I am running the latest version of Norton AV...

    This gives a whirlwind:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall NAV, LiveUpdate and all Norton Add ons via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #8 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

6 very briefly and very carefully, see if IE8 works better now. [1]

TIP: Do not activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    8. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate until you get a prompt "no update more".

  • Win7 log in problems: "the referenced account is currently locked and cannot be saved in.

I've seen a few posts related to this error, but nothing of quite like what I feel... My service company COMPUTER is perplexed and they have tried a bunch of stuff at the end server without result, so want to recreate the image on my computer, I don't want to just cause it's a pain.

I have 2 computers in my workplace. A desktop and a laptop both running Win7 that connect on the server in domain of companies. I use the same username and password for both, of course.
The problem is with the laptop. Occasionally when I try to log in, I get a notification "the referenced account is currently locked and cannot be saved in" and I can not connect. However, if I unplug the network cable and try it, it works. If I plug the power cable back in and lock the computer, restart the whatever, I can connect properly. However, after a few hours or days, it does the same thing.
So I'm not completely locked out of the system. It's really annoying to have to disconnect the network like that.
It has not always done this... It allows to work very well, but it seems to have just started for no apparent reason. The main difference between laptops and desktop, is that the laptop has Symantec PGP Whole Disk Encryption, while the office is not.
Any thoughts on what may happen and what can I do about it?

  • "Username or password is incorrect" error message to Win7 logon screen - three systems!

I have a home network with three machines of Win7. Today, I have introduced the third Win7 and replaced a WinXP machine. All three Win7 machines worked properly for months. Both machines had multiple admin users. We had a user admin added after that the problem appeared.

There were a few typical network problems - get the machines to be able to access the directories on other machines. Resolved, I'm now faced with this:

When each machine is turned on, we get a red cirle with a X and this error message: "username or password is incorrect."

Of course, at this stage no one has tried to put a password yet.

The system has only one user account. It does not recognize the password. End load Win7, we then close the original user account and access a page of choice of the user account. At this stage the system allows us to choose the account, we, accepts the appropriate password and allows to load the user account.

To recap. For all three Machines:

    Multiple user accounts

Choice of user accounts is not made after start

    Error message

There is only one this user

After the loading of the AU in first, the system is behaving properly.

    The end of the summary.

I tried to change user accounts and settings of network without success. Help, please

Change a user password is trivial for malware or a virus.

You can use the process below to call for the restoration of the system. This will set Windows (and its password file) back to the selected date:
    System restore
    1. put your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
2 start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
    3. press a button if you are prompted to start from the DVD.
    4. When prompted, select "Safe Mode Command Prompt".
5 log in as administrator if you are prompted.
    6. Select repair when prompted.
    7. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    8. set Windows to a point before this problem occurred.
    9. When finished, remove the CD before restarting the system.
In step 2, you can also use the Windows 7 installation DVD. The subsequent steps are similar to those above.

    A few notes:
-Rather than do not set a password, you should get Windows to remember your password. The process below allows you to do this.
-Have a single account is obviously asking for trouble. After you have solved the problem, you must create a second account admin, with a non-empty password and log the details in a safe place.

    Automatic logon
    1. click on start
    2. type the three letters cmd in the search box, and then click OK.
    3. Enter the following command and press ENTER:
    Control userpasswords2
    4. click once your account name.
    5. uncheck the box that requires users to enter a password.
    6. click on OK.
    7. Enter your password when you are prompted.

  • Win7 logon with fingerprints on the 470 G1 ProBook reader

    Hello

We have several new ProBook 470 G1. On some, automatic logon works perfectly with the fingerprint.

On some, it says something like "fingerprint confirmed", but he could not connect and sits on the logonscreen and the user must log in with the password.

I checked all the settings and everything seems to be exactly the same on these ProBooks.

    What setting I missed?

    Thank you

    McL

I solved the problem by removing fingerprints recorded and (!) remove the safety of windows startup in HP Security Manager. After a reboot, logon appeared without any additions of HP. Then re-entered the fingerprints and reactivated the logon security window... reboot... and voila.

Thank you guys for trying to help anyway.

  • To configure Group policy so that after 5 invalid logon attempts computer display an error message indicating that the account is locked out for 30 minutes

Original title: function or Vulneralbility? [Lock Group Policy]

    Hello world

I have Windows XP Service Pack 3 with automatic updates turned on and the protection in real time against malware.

I use Group Policy to configure for my computer account lockout policy, indicating that the account is locked by 30 minutes after 5 invalid connection attempts. I also use the TweakUI Autologon feature. (you can ask why the account lockout is necessary when automatic login is turned on?) Hold on...). Please also note that the feature of quick change of user on my PC is off, too. (but I still use the Welcome screen)

So, when I have already connected, press Win + L to lock my workstation. Now, I begin to grasp things at random to be used as password. So that after a few failed attempts, the system displays: "cannot open a session because your account is locked. Please contact administrator.

However, when I entered the correct password now, the system will always connect.

I don't know if this is a feature of Microsoft Windows or a vulneralbility.

More information: my computer is NOT a part of a domain, it belongs to the "MSHOME" workgroup and has file and printer sharing.

    Any help is appreciated.

Your question of Windows is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited on the TechNet community.
