Win7PRO OEM upgrade to Win10
Hi all, I have a M4700 of precision with windows 7 SP1 OEM, I am confused, I can install windows 10 pro free or what I need to purchase a license upgrade (if I do it now, before July 29)?
Consider I work in a corporate environment, but the license applied to my PC is OEM, not the one under the agreement of the company.
Thanks for the clarification/confirmation.
HIRYU79,
Yes, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. You must also update Windows 10 drivers as well. Click on the link below to download the drivers for your M4700.

15-one smart card reader worked fine under WIN 8.1 but after that upgrade to Win10 it does not appear in the list of devices. I have tried to find drivers but don't know if it's a unit of HP or Realtek or whatever. Any suggestions?
Kind regards
Eyvind
Hello @Eyka,
Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.
I understand that you have a problem with the smart card reader and wanted to help you! I see that this problem started after the upgrade of OS Windows 10.
It seems that there are no Windows 10 drivers available for your product on the HP site. It seems that Windows 10 drivers can be pushed through Windows Update. Alternatively, you can try to check this site as well:
HP products - where to find Windows 10 drivers and software for my model?
If you have problems to install the drivers, you can use the tool on the following site:
Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool
It is possible that the drivers are not available for your product. If this is the case, or the drivers you found do not work, try to use the solutions on this site to work around the problem and let me know how it goes: how: install and update drivers in Windows 10
Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this message as 'accept as Solution', this will help others easily find the information they seek. In addition, by clicking on the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thank you!

Validation of Win7 for upgrade to Win10
I am trying to upgrade to Win10 but can't get past the screen "activate now". By clicking on that gets no results. If I go to 'Properties' there is absolutely no reference to the activation either. I have a valid product key - or it was when I bought the upgrade! - and it makes no sense to me. Any suggestions?
I suggest that you run the diagnostic tool Microsoft Genuine Advantage in normal mode and copy and paste the results into a response for further analysis:
http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52012
Run the tool and when it ends, click the copy button, open a text such as Word or Notepad file and select Edit, paste. You can paste directly into an answer here. Open a response, right click and select Paste.

To the right; After upgrading my Microsoft Windows Nokia Lumia 640LTE Denim phone Win10 mobile preview, I have function no. FlashPlayer available onboard, that shows any ad or the option to turn on or off in the settings of parameters / advanced as it should. It also, since the upgrade, omitted the option to block pop ups as well. The Explorer11 of the Internet also failed to appear after upgrading to Win10 Mobile preview, which, like Flash Player, is supposed to be incorporated. I did a hard reset without success, as again after the first upgrade to Win10 Mobile Preview, the second re-installation gave the same results. Help, please! Thank you!
Hello
I have answered your original question: Flash Player only is not supported on mobile devices, including Win10 Mobile, only devices dekstop. See Adobe Flash Player | Technical for the supported platforms.
I don't know how and why it may have worked before the upgrade to Win10 Mobile Preview, but Flash Player has never been supported on Windows Phone. Maybe it was something that Microsoft does. I recommend you contact Microsoft support for assistance.

Stream7 create a recovery media after upgrade to win10
unboxed my stream7 a few days earlier and let it update and got the 'time to get win10' icon in the systray. I created win8.1 media restoration until I take the not... so I can go back to a clean win8... because I have now about free 3.5gig after the upgrade on mem drive. (it's why I want create recovery win10 media... I have none left of disk space!)
In any case, when I try to create a restoration of win10 disc... I select the check box for the system files and it works a little butthen I get this cryptic message on the screen and a button 'Finish'... but no recovery drive. If I do not select the system files, it will erase the disk and copy data to it, but this isn't a recovery disk... There is no need to re install win10. This is win8.1bing, so I can't use the creator of media 10 victory as I have no key... I have to use the recovery media.
any ideas? I really like win10, but I need my space rear disc and I want to get rid of all the win8.1 on the driv cruft.
Thank you.
To answer my own post... Apparently, simply wait 12 hours. (He was not an update, at least I think... I got the auto update service stopped and the Tablet off all night)
When I tried again this morning... It took about 2 hours, but he had completed the restoration of the road. Another 2 hours and it increased by win10 running, but the screen would not rotate automatically. The fix for that float around these forums. Basically you reinstall the driver win8.1 for HP accelerometer. And boom, in fact. -
TRIED to LEVEL WITH WIN10 media USB and after two days creating his stop because she looks stuck.
Tried to resuscitate her for the last two days and currently hdd is no longer recognized in the bios.
the last time I saw drive c with 15 meg of 200 GB drive was something during the chkdsk command that I fell into the 10 victory of the media creation tool repair mode. I had to 'unlock' or dismount the Volume, and all open handles subsequently would be invalid.
(Whatever that means...).
now I can start only from the USB port. As in the bios, there is no device found startup, there is no hard drive in the bios says hard drive test.
now I think I need to get a win7 on USB startup file to get her going again... maybe? If yes where?
also when I tried to download win7 from MS, REQUIRED the product key but the label is worn and were guessing the lack of tanks erase...
Of course right about now, I have a few words of choice for bill gates... with his win 10 that my laptop is verified to be able to run!
any suggestions are welcome. BTW, tried all the suggestions on the HP support site...
Also makes a disc image before I looked at all this, but it is not accessible because of the bios not being able to see the hard drive...
Thank you
OK, thanks for this update - guess their link is more ISOs OEM.
So here's another link - and it does not include the OEM ISOs, but again, I don't know if they will work for HP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/universal_windows_downloader.html

Windows 7 Home Premium OEM upgrade does not not after RAM upgraded FRO 1 GB to 4 GB
New installation Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM worked the 1st time on workstation Dell Precision 380 (Pentium 4, 3.0GH, 1 GB RAM, Windows XP), so I registered with Microsoft. PC worked too slowly, so I upgraded the RAM from 1 GB to 4 GB. PC will not start now. Nothing on the website of dell, or the PC manual led me to believe that there could be a problem.
After I had already performed several tests, PC manufacturer said to install Windows 7 AFTER upgrading the RAM. However, as the installation before the upgrade of RAM and joined already, can I now reinstall the OS without affecting the OEM license.
You can reinstall Windows OEM on the same computer. Case of failure of the online activation:
Call Microsoft use the manual phone Activation
If you have trouble activating Windows 7 you can call Microsoft to activate it by following these steps:
1. with the operation of Windows, click Start, then in the search box type: slui.exe 4
2. press enter on your keyboard
3. Select your country.
4. Select the telephone activation option, then dial the given number and hold for a real person. For more details: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18715-activate-windows-7-phone.html
Note: If you always install Windows page enter your product key, do not enter your key and uncheck the "Automatically activate when online" then click OK/next to complete the installation.

XP Pro OEM of Windows 7 OEM upgrade
Can I legally move my XP Pro OEM of Windows 7 OEM license?
You can move legally Windows XP Professional OEM of Windows 7 OEM [(versions de System Builder).] This will be a clean install, since there is no way to upgrade XP at all.
The upgrade to Windows XP?
Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.
Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).
More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.
1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.
2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.
3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.
4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."
5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.
If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

I live in the Japan and have W7 Home Premium (OEM).
I want to upgrade to Ultimate, change the language in Japanese and give this computer to my father-in-law.Can I use a Japanese OEM (DSP) upgrade disk to do this?Thank you
Just to be clear, I can use a DSP drive until I do a clean install? You can install custom with it, Yes.Or I can use the Express upgrade... until I do a clean install? No, you can't.The fact that the base OS is English and the upgrade disk would be Japanese is not a problem? You will be able to custom installation, but you cannot be upgraded. -
WIN8.1 upgraded to Win10, but no network connection
Using
VMware Fusion: 7.1.2
Mac Yosemite: 10.10.4
I followed the instructions here about download iso win10, mounting and running the Setup program on the guest operating system.
He seemed fine, but now I have no network connection. Less than 8.1 it work very well.
I can see the Device Manager > network adapters > Intel(r) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection, but sharing network > network connections is empty.
I found an article in tech on troubleshooting the NIC, uninstalled/installed and the vmware tools several times, is back to snapshot, etc., but not luck.
Anyone come across this and know how to fix?
THX
I think I may have found the culprit. I can't say for sure, of course, having failed to make a blind study. But my boss was to restore my 8.1 instant, then uninstall the Cisco VPN client and a RSA customer. After the reboot, I then launched the upgrade based on the ISO Win10, who has worked. In addition, networking is in place! My suspicion is that the Cisco VPN client interferes with the network during the upgrade installation.

HTTPS problem after upgrade to Win10
I just installed upgrading Windows 10. Firefox works well, but some sites don't work, for example facebook.com. When I simply type in "facebook.com" I get the message sent in the pictures. The message is in Dutch, but it should be something with the https connection. The only option is to click on the button, I can not go on the site, I asked.
I have a version of Firefox installed 39.0. All updates must be installed.
Anyone know a solution? Or it is already known and wil he soon a fix?
Hi, cela may be in limited accounts by family parental control of microsoft. you could turn it off for your account as described in the: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/turn-off-microsoft-family-settings
in case you want to have it by intention, you would be required for some configurations in firefox and install the security certificate for the ms family that is getting used to intercept connections secured in the browser trust store.
Click on this link - then must display a dialog on the addition of a cert. Please check the trust this CA to identify web sites & confirm the change.Alternatively, you can also try the manual procedure described in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2965142 in the section about firefox.

I have a number of programs that do not work after the victory 10 64-bit upgrade. It's Firefox, Thunderbird, Opera, Kies. They launch but apparently do not connect to the internet. I called the Support for my etax pgm taxes, which I installed after the upgrade, they said he runs in Win 10 and suggested the firewall.
I have the windows firewall and compatible Firefox, but it still does not work after restarting. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled and still does not work. Google Chrome is OK. I have installed the latest version of Thunderbird, does not always connect. I have disabled the windows for the public and the private firewall, will not download mail. Don't send it either. I really don't want to activate the windows messaging client. Thunderbird is still listed as the pgm of e-mail by default.
David.
I think you might find that your issue has been the network card that requires an update. Something that has apparently been addressed in this hotfix roll of weeks of Windows 10.
