  • Windows Vista has crashed, "the operating system not found" error, can I load Windows XP on a partition?

I have an Acer Aspire 5516, with pre-installed Windows Vista. I didn't know that it did not come with a recovery disk UNTIL my system crashed! During a routine virus scan, I got a blue screen saying a major problem has been found and the system has been shut down. I followed the instructions to gracefully shut down my laptop. When I turned this back on after the "Acer" logo he went to a black screen with info on my computer and the last line States "not found operating system". That's when I discovered there was no recovery disc & it is integrated into the system. To access this system you we F8 to enter safe mode, then Alt F10 to access 'erecovery management system. Neither one of these functions operate! Still getting the black screen with "operating system" not found I have a Windows XP my laptop previous. I have thousands of pictures that I can't replace. If anyone can help please do! I am on a very limited income & can not really afford professional help. Thank you very much in advance!

    Hello

normally with an Acer you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the hidden recovery partition recovery, not F8, then this combo

but you do not have an option to save your data, that

in daily use acers normally have a system partition, a partition of data to save your data, etc. to and also this hidden partition recovery

    and read this on data recovery, too;

Download the Vista software from the link above.

After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

    Hello

Some USB TV tuners that were included with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 systems do not have a unique serial ID. You may experience this problem if you use one of these TV tuners and its driver with Windows XP Media Center 2005. If your computer has been upgraded to Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 from Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004, you can solve the problem by installing the latest driver for your TV tuner. Contact your hardware manufacturer to determine the existence of a Media Center 2005 compatible device driver for your TV tuner.

  • I used email TB. My Windows 10 has crashed and had to be reimagee. I reinstalled TB. How can I get my old emails in my new installation of tuberculosis?

I used TB on system W10, very well. MS has pushed an upgrade for W10 and it totally screwed my system. I had to reimage my system with W10. That worked well, was supposed to keep my data but amazed my programs. This turned out to be true that I reinstalled my programs and data for them were always there. I reinstalled TB, has functioned well, currently able to download all new emails, but I can't find my old emails or my old profile name. Can someone tell me where to look my old data, if by chance its still there? I guess that's all my data was still there, but you never know people with MS.

OK, think about it. Old profile is located in the Windows.old folder. You can move your old profile from the windows.old folder and place it in the current profile folder, and then go and change your profiles.ini and remove your new profile name and enter in your old profile name, then restart TB. Worked like a champ.

Hello everyone, a few days my computer began to behave strangely. When you try to download some pictures using Chrome, windows Explorer has crashed, and a pop-up will appear showing the message: "Windows Explorer has stopped working". A few seconds after that, the entire desktop up-to-date and another window poped by displaying "Windows Explorer restarts... ».

Hi old_geekster, I tried what you said and it did not work. However, I then found the original source of microsoft where you got this info from, and they mention here on a corrupted video driver as a source as possible. That was the problem in my case: radeon tried to update earlier this week, but I was in a hurry and it did not properly. I tried again and it worked now!

  • Computer crashed during a windows XP update

I was trying to trouble shoot a problem with a computer that would crash intermittently from time to time.  Put 3 downloaded system update for installation.  I put out of service and some updates to try to make sure I had the latest files.  When installing on 3/3, the system crashed again!  I knew it wasn't good.  I was not able to restart the system.  When I boot it comes up with the windows logo and progress bar, then it stops with a blue screen and the following message.

Stop: c000021a {fatal system error} the System Manager system initialization process ended unexpectedly with the State 0xc000026c (0x00000000 0x00000000).  The system has been shut down.

Is there anyway I can recover from this situation.

I tried to boot from the start with F8 menu.  I chose restore to the last known good state, but not luck.  Are there any other suggestions out there.  XP was preinstalled on the Dell computer.  I is not a MS installation disc, but have the Dell restore disc.  I resisted using it because I think he goes back to the initial state of the computer and I will rebuild the system from scratch.  Inplace installation is a good solution or it just will make worse?  Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you. -Nat

I wanted to just make sure that people know that I don't mean to solve the reason for which the computer crashed.  I just try to understand if there is a way to recover a Windows update that crashes, power losses, or breaks down before installation, updates is complete.  Thank you.

  • Problem with Windows 7 Service Pack 1: the update process crashes during every start/restart

    Hello.

I downloaded the SP1 for Windows 7 from Microsoft Download Center (I had the Ultimate 64-bit edition initially installed on my computer). I ran the installer and went through the process of updating until the first reboot. Since that time, my system is unbootable not. Windows 7 starts to run and then the SP1 update process runs and applies the changes to the registry and system files. After awhile, the update process freezes and I have to turn off the computer with the power switch. This is repeated again and again each time you start. He stops to date when he reached update number 117880 of 334835 or 334835 117930 (but not always these specific), and he is trying to change some registry entries apparently: 'operation 334835 (\Reg...) 117880 update application', this is what is shown on the screen below the still glowing Windows logo.

In addition the secure boot mode, startup mode safe with networking, security console startup mode, last known good configuration options do not work. They all start to load but crash after a while (as if the same SP1 update process has been run in silent mode).

I don't want to reinstall Windows 7 from zero and all the applications that have been installed. The ERD that I generated after my initial installation can not solve the problem, nor the Windows 7 can install DVD. It doesn't let me do an upgrade from the original DVD since it has not be started from the hard drive and then launched from within Windows 7.

I looked in several discussions of the forum and found that my NTFS partition is marked 'active' as it should.

I plugged my HARD drive on another computer and have access to its content.

So is it possible to stop this automatic process and be able to start (in the original state of Windows 7)? At least to re - install Windows 7 via the DVD upgrade mode and then installing SP1 on a little further.

Perheaps the log files from the SP1 update process could be useful, but I don't know where they are on the HARD drive.

    Thanks for your help.

    Yo_54.

So is it possible to stop this automatic process and be able to start [...]?

    Hello.

My startup problem is resolved. Now I can start Windows 7 and use my system again.

I used the dism.exe tool back updates on hold through a wire found in the TechNet Forums: "C000009A update operation 334565 (\Registry\...) 119595 application error". loading SP1"(see link below).

I launched WinRE with my Windows 7 installation DVD, selected my C: partition where Windows 7 has been installed, click on the button 'Next', refused to the proposed repair phase, and then chose the prompt for commands and typed:

    DISM.exe / Image: c: \ / Cleanup-Image /RevertPendingActions

It took less than 15 minutes for the tool to the end I restarted my computer and waited a few operations update, then Windows restarted and more, and finally I was on my homescreen. After my connection, a dialog box been told that SP1 was installed (the winver.exe command showed that SP1 installed too).

I think that now that I have completely will be re - install Windows 7 in upgrade mode, recheck all the pre-requisites for SP1, uninstall all language but English modules, uninstalling my anti-virus and anti-spyware programs disconnect you from the Internet and run the standalone SP1 install package. I'm going to see if the problem is persistent and keep you posted.

But first I'll make an image of my C: drive system and store it somewhere safe!

I found the solution through this thread in the TechNet Forums:
