I cannot print from windows 7 using HP Deskjet 842 C series.  Windows and HP said is compatible, it can only print from other applications and not Windows 7.  Any suggestions?

In fact - what HP means without out and say what they deem a legacy device (printer) and even if they included a universal driver (Microsoft put in Windows 7) and it should work without doing you anything else - it is perhaps not fully functional as it was in previous operating systems where they (HP) it supported.

HP in this case is the manufacturer of the equipment and in all related case material - the hardware manufacturer is responsible for the materiel support (drivers, software, etc.)

You can follow the advice of HP, if you want to:

But really what they're trying to say is, "your printer is old - buy a new one from us so that we can stay in business."

  • Windows 7 and HP DeskJet 895Cxi

I have a new laptop with Windows 7.

    I have a DeskJet 895Cxi printer.

Before I'm going to hit out of confusion I have some simple questions (!) for everyone out there.

Should I 32-bit or 64-bit of Windows 7? Or is it not important?

The driver is already part of the operating system or should I download it?

Driver version, you will need will depend on the version of Windows 7 you have *.  You can find it in start, Control Panel, system, system type (32 of 64) will be close to the Center, just below the amount of RAM.

For the Deskjet 895 the correct driver will be delivered via Windows Update as described on this page.  Turn on Windows Update as shown in the second method, then you can simply connect the printer and Windows automatically installs the correct driver.

    Hi KennyG63,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support and I thank you for the great question.

Capture and scanning HP is a free application available for download from the Windows store. It can capture photos or documents of a HP all-in-One (network only) or your computer's built-in camera. I have included a link with detailed steps on how to scan using HP and Capture app scanning.

  • "Add a printer" window does not display DeskJet 6988 in Snow Leopard 10.6.1

I have a DeskJet 6988 printer that is connected wireless to my home network. I have two Macs, two Snow Leopard running that allows to connect to my DeskJet 6988 Hello impression. After the upgrade, the "Add a printer" window would not show my printer. I installed HP v2.1 for Mac OS X printer drivers (available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907) and also tried to reconnect my printer with an ethernet cable.

I was able to manually add my printer by following these steps:

-Install Mac OS X 10.6.1 using the software update

-Install the latest drivers from HP printer from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

-Open System Preferences and go to the "Print & Fax".

-Click the "+" button in the lower left corner of the window of preferences "Print & Fax".

-Click the icon of the "intellectual property" at the top of the window "add a printer".

-Select "HP Jetdirect - taken" in the "Protocol:"drop-down box.

-Type the IP address of your printer in the "address:"field.

-Make sure that the "print using:" drop-down list reads ' HP Deskjet 6980 series ' "»

-Click on 'Add' in the lower right of the window "add a printer".

Your printer should work! The key ingredient is to select 'HP Jetdirect - taken' in the 'Protocol' drop down box, I tried "Line Printer Daemon - LPD" and it did not work.

  • HP Deskjet J110: 8.1 for Windows does not recognize Deskjet J110, does not print. Drive of reloads.

DeskJet J110 does not test page print.  Removed the printer and reinstall, USb not recognized. Charges such as LPT1. Tried unplugging, reboot and reconnect. Same result.

    Hello Floadnar,

Have you tried with another Usb cable? DC said that "usb not recognized it. You should check also Device Manager for universal serial bus drivers. Finally, you can try to connect both usb cable to check the work of regular printer usb socket or not. you don't need to install the driver. Simply connect the usb cable between the printer and PC. If both USB works with off problem that should not see the unrecognized Usb device message.

  • Connection laptop new windows 8.1 HP DeskJet 3050

I just bought a new laptop, and before that, I fell my routers make password for security issues. I was able to print with the USB cable but I can not figure out how to reconfigure the connection with Windows 8.1 I never did with Windows 7 by going to the start menu, all programs, and then through my HP printer. Although I don't know where to find these option on Windows 8.1... Can I get help?

    Hello

Have you installed drivers and software on Windows 8.1 machie yet? Please install this important part first using the following package:

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL34584/al-109394-2/DJ3050_J610_1315.exe

After that, you can find an icon in the group HP (Windows key). You can pin the printer on the desktop icon and it will remain as Windows 7.

    Kind regards.

Ah ok, you got... seems that the app still available in all regions.

Go to control panel > clock, language and region > region > change location.

Set the location of the House in the United States, and then click ok.

Now the same link will take you to the app page.

Once completed the installation of the application, change the location to its original state.
