Windows 7 64 bit using 3 GB of 8 GB RAM when idle.

I've noticed recently that Windows 7 64 bit using 3 GB of RAM slowed.  When I start first of all, the use of the RAM is about 1.2 GB or more.  However, after that my computer has been for some time, that number slips slowly up to 3 GB without me all other running programs.  I thought it could be virus/spyware/malware, so I formatted and did a new install.  The same day as the new installation, I noticed the same behavior.

Is this normal?  Windows 7 is recommended to use 3GB 8 GB inactive?

Thanks in advance for any help!

My issue was not with Windows 7 using large amounts of RAM "at random".  The question I saw consisted of RAM usage to leave about 1 GB and slowly creeping up to 3 GB and stay there until I rebooted.

Through several days of trail and error, I found the problem.  In general, I use a download manager to download files (free download manager, FDM).  There is apparently a problem with FDM and Windows 7 I have observed that the question of the RAM with FDM run and I have yet to observe with FDM, no matter what I do.  Either way, I used this same version of FDM Windows XP and never had any problems with the use of the RAM.  Therefore, I'm not sure if it's a FDM problem or a problem with running on Windows 7 FDM (although my experience with FDM and XP leads me to believe that there is a problem with FDM running on Windows 7).
Without FDM running Windows 7 RAM use is between 880 MB and 1.5 GB.  Everyone know the RAM on this amount use likely has several processes that run in the background as Windows 7, when idle, should never require more than that.

My apologies, I must have misread the topics when I did my first answer. For some reason, I got it in my head, whether you use Windows 7 32 bit.

I stand by my original comments well that although I appreciated now that you are referring to Windows XP.

If you want to go to 64-bit Windows XP I'm not sure if this is even possible now. Unless you buy a commercial version second hand. If you can, make sure that it comes with an installation CD.

  • OfficeJet 4630: anyone can print reliaby with Officejet 4630 under Windows 10 (64-bit) using wireless?

I have a couple of PCs.

    Both run Windows 10 (64-bit).

An upgrade from 8.1 64-bit. The other is Windows 7 ultimate (64 bit).

I bought Officejet 4630 at the end of September.

So far I have not been able to print from a reliable PC at all.

Sometimes maybe a page can be printed, but if I try the next page. The print queue seems to get hung.

Worse, on a PC (Win7 64-bit upgrade), I can not connect with USB at all.

Immediately after installing the driver, it fails to "print test page"? What gives?

(I have not tried the USB connection with other PCs through the situation. He's far away and so connected via radio.)

Strangely enough, it's the HP printing diagnostic seems to work perfectly. It prints the test page.

But, after a week of Calvary and see how works the test via the web interface, I now have the feeling that

HP diagnostics program simply sends a command that causes the printer to print a test page to itself, and not

through the path of ordinary driver through what print ordinary application data. It can be found.

Due to the failure of printing with a USB connection, I asked local HP support for replacement t

    hinking that unit was bad.

However, the replacement arrived today, but the same symptom!

    Agah.

I'm afraid that HP screwed royally here, but worse yet, it doesn't seem to be aware of the problem in the light of some

Reviews of so-called unconscious support people!

If someone has this printer works reliably on windows 10 64 - bit

-How you installed the driver (from which source)

    -which tweaks you did.

I tried to install the OJ4630_198 and the driver is updated to Windows.

Windows Update seems to be a little better, but still stuck print jobs are seen after a few

tests and unnecessary. (Initially because of this apparent initial success, I thought that the problem was limited

so a PC, but now I think that both PC evenly suffer failure).

So far, I tried to change the PORT to a fixed TCP/IP address port (which sometimes seems to be feasible: sometimes not.) I was not able to understand why. Maybe the difference between HP driver or Windows update)

Sometimes after the Ministry of port, the first printing time works, but the

next print does not work.  It remains in the queue.

This has been driving me crazy...

If person not steps forward with the installation of reliable work (10, 64-bit windows), I think I'm going for it back to HP, although the initial cooling period has expired from a legal point of view, I'll see if I can convince the support contact.

I bought HP printers only over the years. They lasted well and worked like a charm, and the black ink was really nice.

After that, I can't printers recomment the HP to my friends more.

[Driver in Deskjet 6980 works for printing with capricious 4630]

    Under improved Windows 10, too!

I checked it after upgrading my PC under Windows 7 64-bit of Windows 10.

After a few false starts, however, some programs are missing 'Dropbox' "Norton Internet Security" (?)

sort: I downloaded the binary Moose and once I let the Installer run again, they picked up the proper

configuration of the previous installation and started running.

I needed to tweak 'Register windows' but when I tried to run 'regedit' something 'Extended attributes are '.

inconsistent"and any program that requires administrative privilege would begin: maybe Dropbox and Norton Internet

Security has failed because of this issue. Surprisingly, I could fix this by restoring the default Windows theme.

(In my previous attempt to update, I put it to something Bing, a jazzy theme on the Japanese season, or something.

Affected and surprising finished showing 'Extended attributes are incompatible' (or you may need to

reset the sound theme as well. YMMV.) I raised this strange questions after the upgrade just in case

These problems are related to the Deskjet 6980 under Windows 7 64-bit driver installation before upgrading to Windows 10.

Somehow, however, the previous installation of the driver instance 4630 seems to have disappeared (maybe I deleted it before

the upgrade, I don't know.) So I install driver 4630 for * SCANNING * purposes only.

    FAX can wait a while.

Finally, some working environment for Officejet 4630 with using the Deskjet 6980 driver for printing

    is being created.

    Hello

It seems more likely that spawn something wrong with installation.

We will try these steps and let me know if that can help you:

    1. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to your PC.
    2. Click on the start menu and type %temp%.
    3. Open the Temp folder in the search results.
    4. Click CTRL + A to select all files and delete them, no need to worry about delete files as all the content of this file is temporary.
    5. Launch the installation files once more and allow the extraction complete.
    6. You will find a new folder in the temp folder, starting with 7Z.
    7. Open the folder, and then open the subfolder named as the model of the printer until you see the content of the whole installation.
    8. Right-click the address bar and select copy the address.
    9. Go to control panel > devices and printers.
    10. Right-click in the background area, and then click Device Manager.
    11. You will find the printer listed under peripheral Bus USB or other section controllers.
    12. Make a right-click on the name of the printer and select Update driver software.
    13. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
    14. Paste the file copied into the box and click Next.
    15. Follow the instructions on the screen, which should point the operating system to use the correct browser and the installation should appear and complete.

  • Window 7 64 bit using 13.4 GB of Winsxs even after speaker

I use Windows 7 64 bit and am exhausted over the disk space and find the Windows folder > Winsxs is having more than 17,000 files / subfolders from 2009 and using 13.4 GB of space.

    Hello

There are not many things that you can do with the WinSxS folder, and that the size is not uncommon.

If you make a mistake in it, you can make your operating system unusable.

"How to approach the problems of disk space that are caused by a large directory of store (WinSxS) Windows component"

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/2795190/

The store (C:\Windows\winsxs) Directory Windows component is used during maintenance operations in the installations of Windows. Maintenance operations include, but are not limited to, Windows Update, service packs and patches installations.

The component store contains all the files that are required for a Windows installation. And, updates to these files are also held in the component store as the updates are installed. This causes the component store to grow over time as more updates, features, or roles are added to the installation. The component store uses hard links NTFS between itself and other directories of Windows to increase the robustness of the Windows platform.

The component store will show a size large directory because of the way the Windows Explorer shell holds into account hard links. The Windows shell is taken into account each reference to a hard link as a single instance of the file for each directory in which the file is located. For example, if a file named advapi32.dll is 700ko and figure in the component store and in the \Windows\system32 directory, Windows Explorer incorrectly reports that the file consumes 1 400 KB of hard disk space

The component store cannot reside on one volume other than the system because NTFS hard links volume. If you try to move the component store, this will result in the inability to correctly install Windows updates, service packs, roles or functions. In addition, we do not recommend that you manually remove or delete files from the component store.

To reduce the size of the store directory of component on a Windows installation, you can choose to make the installation of the service pack permanent and recover space used of the service pack files. However, if you do the permanent installation of the service pack, the service pack is not removable.

To delete the files from the service pack to a Windows installation, use the following utilities of the box:

    • Windows Vista Service Pack 1 installed: VSP1CLN. EXE
    • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 installed: Compcln.exe
    • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 installed: DISM / online /Cleanup - Image /SpSuperseded or the wizard disk cleanup (cleanmgr.exe)

And this can help you too:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/174705/how-to-reduce-the-size-of-your-WinSxS-folder-on-Windows-7-or-8/

Why the WinSXS folder becomes too big

The WinSXS folder contains all of the components of Windows System. In fact, the component elsewhere in Windows files are links to files in the WinSXS folder. The WinSXS folder contains all the operating system files.

    See you soon.

    Hello world!

    Thanks in advance!

Already, I have installed windows 7 64-bit. It works very well. Specifically, I think it's really faster when I install applications. I use as a 4 GB USB DRIVE for readyboost.

  • Windows 7 32 bit does not recognize 4 GB of RAM

I just bought a new w500 with windows 7 32-bit and 4 GB of RAM, I know that windows 7 32 bit must be able to work with 4 GB of RAM, but when I check the Windows System Control Panel 7, he said: installed memory 4 GB, usable memory 2.46).

When I check my setting of the video adapter it says 512 MB dedicated memory and 1024 MB shared memory.

I don't really know what to do, I don't know I used the 4 GB ram with windows Vista Ultimate before and it was OK.

He was everything to solve this problem? Do I have to install a 64-bit version of my windows 7 pro?

If I is there a way I can install it with the serial number supplied with my laptop, so I don't have to buy a new version of windows, I've just will download and install a 64-bit version of windows 7.

-Besides, I'm not 100% sure, but when I got the laptop, on the Panel of the system, he showed that he uses all the 4 GB of ram, after 1 day of use and when all Thinkpad and microsoft drivers updates have been installed, what happened.

now, just please help me and tell me what I need to do?

You probably need to transfer activation with something like ABR unless the key works for both versions now. Retail Vista keys worked for 32 and 64 bit version but haven't Lenovos OEM key.

Regarding your 2.46 GB of ram - I the only thing that indicate is that Windows is telling you the truth its time. There is no way any 32-bit system can use full 4 GB. Information system in Vista have generally shown only to installed RAM without showing the usable memory. They fixed in Windows 7, and now, he can tell you the exact amount can be used. But that doesn't change anything but your taking of consciousness of the fact.

Oh and when I was using Vista 32 it showed the / 3 gb in a first time and then went down to 2.46 I was installing graphic drivers. Switchable graphics driver supposedly did this and some users have reported that uninstalling / installing different drivers, but I prefer to install windows 64-bit for peace of mind.

  • After Effects uses a lot of memory (live RAM) when you perform simple work

    Hello

When I open AE, make a new project, import a simple 20 MB mp4 file itself and start playback of the clip (RAM Preview), consumption of RAM of After Effects gets up to 5 GB, and the CPU usage gets up to 50%!

This is a really simple job, and I don't know why it takes so many resources, it wasn't happening to me before.

    I'm on Windows 8.1, I use After Effects 13.2.0.49 (2014.2) and I have 8 GB of RAM.

    Why is this happening?

    Thanks in advance.

    Post edited by: Bogdan Mitrovic

MP4 are notoriously calculation-heavy because they are so heavily compressed.  What explains the treatment part.

RAM previews allow AE to use so much memory that it has to play in real time.  What explains the part of the memory.

    Hi Robert,.

Thanks for posting the request in Microsoft Community Forums.

You can install Windows XP by using the CD, however it is not possible to use the same product key to activate that has already been used on the desktop. I suggest you perform a new installation of Windows 8 on laptop with the new retail product key. Therefore, you may need to purchase 2 product key of Windows 8 to activate both computers.
